FM Radio = dead - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I use stock rom 1.66 and latest radio rom. After installing few programs (5), I got this:
- when I open FM Radio, it starts searching for stations, finds none and then closes with no message.
There is a way to solve it, but needs a hard reset. I am tired to reinstall my phone every 3 days, so I am asking the HD2 doctors:
Can this be solved without hard reset ?
(Another post on this site suggests that the fm radio files can be replaced. I have the files, but I need a step by step, because I'm clueless)

You do know that the headphones are integral, as they are the aerial for the FM Radio.
I have had different results with different headphones or even a audio cable with a 3.5 jack on one side (and setting the radio to output to the rear speaker).
Some locations can be dead spots for FM Radio.
Instead of searching, actually set the frequency to a known radio station. I have on occasion been able to pick up stations (that I knew of) that the search just skipped past.

It's not a headphones or location problem. And I cannot use any button on FM Radio interface. It just say "search" and then dissapears.
More on the problem side, there were stations already saved in the FM Radio interface and all of them are now gone !

To be more exact, first I tried to install latest official Rom 3.xx. I didn't like it at all so I got back official rom 1.66. Then I saw FM radio problem. I've made a Task29 and reinstall rom 1.66. The problem was gone and FM Radio worked gorgeusly. After reinstalling all the programs I previously had, FM Radio dead !

Are you using any backup software? It is fine to do full system backup and restore if you are using the same ROM. Some backup software overwirtes the registry and on a different ROM this can cause no end of problems.
You could hard reset your phone then test the FM-Radio. Install a program, switch off & on then test the FM-Radio. Repeat till either everything works or you find the program that causes the problem.

I'm using backup only for PIMs and Messages. No registry modification.
I already took into account your suggestion and I'll do it next thing, but I hoped that there is someone who can help me revert FM Radio software and drivers to an initial state.

No one has a clue about FM Radio software ???

No more GSM RADIO

I was flashing the extended rom and radio Simultaneously,
first I copy the first 3 M of the radio to sd (d2s 60000000 00300000), but I have not ended with the extended rom to the sd card (d2s 70080000 01000000 sd a ).
Result, the unit is with out RADIO, on startup it doesn't show the radio version and it doesn't work.
Now if I try to reinstall the radio by Himaupgradeut. it'll fail (error 114:radio rom update error)
Any help, thanks a lot!
No way, you have to call the service to get a replacement unit.
I crashed my radio stack 2 weeks ago and now I have a new device. There was no way for me to repair the radio stack.
But something makes me wonder: the radio stack was erased after installing spb pocket plus 2. It seems to be a dangerous software.
sorry
Frank
Thanks Frank,
already sended the MDA II to CS Communication serv. for to repair/change the units.
I jest wondering way happened that?
I was try to get back from 1.7 Beta ROM with another devices, so I was getting the ROM by SD from the units that lost the radio.
Lots strange things happen witn 1.7 Beta ROM.
One MDAII with 1.7 Beta ROM went back to 1.6 ROM without any problem, with another ones I'm not able to go back to 1.6 ROM or something else!
I try all possible solution (as described on these forum) but nothing would change the 1.7 Beta R.
I get always ID error (3-N-PH-PH-PH) or if I cancel the Operator and language I get CE ROM error and I've trying with different ROMs.
I think to have lost 3 days on trying to change the ROM and now I've 2 units sended to the service!
These's my bead experience.
Ciao to everyone.

Applications in ExtRom that will kill yr WM2003SE

Dear all,
I have tested the WM2003SE (Version_2.06) for some days now and finally found out that one (or the combination) of these extra applications in the Extended Rom will surely KILL the phone functionality if you ever happen to soft-reboot the device while in landscape mode. Here is the list of suspected incompatibles.
- BTPSKeyUpdate_003
- cm_rm_map_o2_v3
- CprogHook.WM2003_2577
- DelAddStarMenu_092404.sa
- delshortcut
- LoadDialogInit_MS_10150402.sa
- startmenu_103wwe
I am absolutely sure that one of these will cause serious device hang once we ever happen to soft-reset while in landspace, but I'm not sure which one. So if any of you have these software installed in version 2.06, please try your best to aviod reseting while in landscape.
BTW, if you happen to know any of these software's intended uses, please also let me know since I"m not sure whether removing them can cause malfunction in other areas. Thanks
Hi there,
thanks for the alert. But i don have the problem like you said. I soft resetted my 2.06 more than 10x in landscape mode but still no reset/hang/idle/trojan virus.....
Guess i'm just a bit lucky!
BTPSKeyUpdate_003 - cannot cause hang. It is used only once just after hard reset
cm_rm_map_o2_v3 - some O2 customisations. May cause hang.
CprogHook.WM2003_2577 - my program. Conflicts with some programs and may hang your device on boot (device simply stops responding to keys/stylus). To check this - delete \windows\startup\cproghook.exe and reboot. On most of devices it works fine, but have problems in landscape mode.
DelAddStarMenu_092404.sa - ?
delshortcut - ?
LoadDialogInit_MS_10150402.sa - this is a patch for 2.20CHS OS. Should not be used on other ROMs, but it should not hang your device.
startmenu_103wwe - ?
I've seen that removing SD-card during boot helps sometimes.
did any one faced this?
it happend twice!
my phone shows good signal reception but when some body calls in it will say "can not be reached" like it is off or no signal!
and i also can't make phone calls at that stage!

Yeap, your suspicious is very true. Both of them are different. But how different is different would need mamaich to answer how he first got this radio stack!!
i used 1.08 radio stack... no problems here.... downgraded it from 1.17
Microsoft Voice Command
Anybody encounter problems with MS Voice Command in WM2003SE ROM?
When I soft re-set the XDAII device, it sorts of hang the devices. Always need me to soft reset a few times. I've since remove it and soft reset is ok.

No Radio,No CID,No IMEI-Hardware faulty!?

Hi to all. I solve my problem. Change myself motherboard. I buy second hand hermes with no working keyboard for 100eu (latter I solve even this problems, bad contact on flat cable)) and change the motherboard to my spv m3100. It's stupid to say that I solve this with some software, it's was hardware
faulty (or maybe not???) and I am very happy, because I can use my hermes again.
Now I have a one, my "old" motherboard (hermes) who working like pda, wi-fi and bluetooth also working, but without gsm. If any wish to do some experiment I am here, waiting for instruction. Also, I add some picture from the phase of changing motherboard.
Information for "experimental" hermes:
HERM 200
IPL-1.04
SPL-2.30.Olipro
Rom version:Schap's 4.00
Rom Date: 10/15/07
Radio version: none
Protocol version: none
ExtROM version: 3.60.20070822
No cid, no imei, can't flash radio (stuck in 0%)
Can't flash OS which contains radio (stuck in 12-13%)
Regards for all on this forum.
Hi,
how are you?
do you know is it possible to replace just radiochip to fix our hermes??
How I see, in "home made" it's not possible, because we don't have a special equipment for that operation. Even if you have, but where you can found this famously radio chip? If you wont, I can open my "experimental" Hermes and make a picture of all chip and send to you, but I think that on ftp you have all manuals and pictures with the name of each part. I use this manuals to safely open my hermes and myself change the motherboard.
If I understand you, your hermes working like PDA, without gsm. Do you have a same problem, that devices turn off yourself and until soft reset they don't wont to wake up? Also phone function working very slowly, sometimes it's not possible to activate connection manager...etc
And if you agree, please to continuing disscusion on this thread. Thank's.

OK, I will waiting, and good luck.
Don't forget to inform us what's say serviceman....
Ok , i've joind the club of "no gsm" 3 months ago . and i've tried many many roms and radios and still no luck .
but in one try i've succeeded in flashing the radio to 100% and the radio worked very well and that night was 5 in the morning i danced on the desk when i saw it . i just couldn't belive it . i called my hermes 20 times from another mobile to hear the defult stupid WM5 ring tone , i missed it really
any way i couldn't believe my eyes , so i tried to do a hard reset to check if the radio will stay or go , it just vanished and again back NO GSM . i was disappointed really .
here's the way it succeeded with me and i was gonna post it for every one else as a solution but it happened with me once , and now it wont pass 0% .
here we go .
1.flash you device with GM360 gold edition http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329282 don't ask why just try it .
2.after the phone is flashed with gm360 and working ok with no radio or "no gsm" messege now you should flash your phone with your device manufacturer WM5 ROM .
3. to flash WM5 rom you need to follow mr.vanx guide for safe WM5 downgrade . http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?...27&Itemi d=26 here it is .
4. now after you've flashed WM5 successfully and your device is also working fine with it but still no radio or "no gsm" . you need to flash only radio to your device . no OS only the radio .
5. download this radio . http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=334697 and unrar it on some folder . and don't flash it yet to your device .
6 download Olipro RUUwraper 5.2 http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298737 there u go.
7. now the files from step "5" which they are the radio 1.54 put the file ruuwrapper from step "6" in the same folder with them to start the radio upgrade using "RUUWrapper.exe" not "ROMUpgradeUt.exe" . when u run it you will have multiple choices , choose "Force Unsafe SSPL (not recommended)" . .
now the radio upgrade should go smoothly as it went for me the first time . after the radio upgrade is done u should be able to use ur radio fine .
now can some one take half the effort of me writing this long method and try it ? thanx for the feedback also .
good luck for all .

i guess it was my one last lucky chance , and i blew it up with hard reset .
anyway the only solution right now for no gsm is to change motherboard unfortunatley
Nudge!!! :S
I lost my Radio today, also the IMEI is gone.
This morning it was working and this afternoon it just stopped, tried a hard reset, still nothing. Just tried to flash 1.54, but that didn't work, now trying 1.51 and i see the progress bar, but it stays at 0%
I will leave it this way at my computer and come back later, but it looks the radiorom is broken
I can flash everything except the radiopart, i really seems broken, i've tried flashing with different SPL versions including 2.60 olipro en SSPL.
Also the phone seems to be a lot slower.
But prior to this all the phone did hang often for the last few weeks, so i guess it was already starting to breakdown
i also have a almost similar experience, can anyone verify that the phone is already breaking down??

What exactly is your problem? I've been noticing that about 70% of my calls fail or hang when I attempt to dial, when I try again they usually go through. I also have problems sending txt messages very often. Is my phone on its way out? I haven't even had this phone for a year.....pisses me off

My phone started to hang a lot last week, just for a minute and then come back again, also losing the phone connection. First i thought it was some software i installed. New rom, problem stayed the same.
And then yesterday i totaly lost the radio part, can't flash it in any way, but the phone still seems a lot slower then normal, like it's still looking for the phone part or something
I gues it's just broken, and as it is older then a year, i gues it is really trashed.....
So i think i'm gona buy a new accu for my old phone, my abbo ends in aug 2008, so no new phone before then

bluetooth not recognized

Hi all
I've upgraded my touch dual to WM 6.1 chinese official but now the bluetooth chip is not recognized, like the device has bo BT.
I have installed hardspl 1.15 before upgrade to this, is correct?
i've tryed also to restore the original SPL 1.16 and reflash, but no BT again.
I've flashed the original radio 1.58 and the original WM6 TIM branded ita version, but no BT again.
anyone could help me?
tnx a lot!
This ROM needs at minimum the integrated 1.65 Radio! After flashing the ROM, make a hardreset and report back!
the chinese version has radio incorporated in nbh, wich is version 1.65.29.22 (i can see on the startup screen).
of course i have hard reset the device after the first boot (red + green key and reset)
i've tryed the non asia version, RUU_Nike_HTC_WWE_2.09.405.1_Radio_NikeMR_1.65.28.25_signed_Ship.exe, hard reset but no BT again :-(
That's really strange!
I'm sorry but at this point I think I can't help you!
man, i think that i've found the issue.
today i decided to open my nike. Removed the screw and the bottom cover, i've found a scew attached to the speaker, wich has destroyed it (in effect, after a repair from htc, the sound was really bad) and this screw touched with the top metal on the bluetooth board, so, i think that some short circuit have destroyed my bluetooth.
And this is HTC FAULT!!!!
now i have to send back to repair and wait another 3 weeks.

Most stable radio for o2 mini S and how to upgrade it?

Hi,
I have this wizard for couple of years.
It works fine but sometimes looses connection with GSM (became unavailable).
The bad joke is that I do not know about it (signal indicator shows good signal and others are ok).
At the moment I'm using the following firmware:
ipl 2.21.0001
spl 2.21.0001
gsm 02.07.10
os 2.21.4.1
WM5
I think the first possible solution is to upgrade radio.
Which version works most stable? Where is it? How to reprogram it without hard reset and reflashing all device (too hard to backup and reinstall all the software)?
Thanks.
Oleg.
Check out 'XDA-Wiki' you'll find all the Radio Roms listed there.
Its very simple to flash and upgrade Radio Rom,just hook up the phone with pc via usb cable and run the RUU in the Radio Rom,it'll hardly take a couple of minutes to flash.

I've found 2.71 with RUU_GO.exe
Is it the file to run? Is it suitable for 'operators' phone (G4)?
Can I be sure that nothing will happens with the current apps and data?
All Radio Roms are safe to flash to any device,G3 or G4,it just flashes and upgrades the GSM files and nothing else is changed or effected,it doesn't have any IPL/SPL (Bootloaders) in it.None of your personal data or application will get effected.
The most stable and commonly used Radio rom is considered to be is 2.19.11 and 2.69.11.But everyone have their own experiences,it all depends which suites you the best.
Hi,
thank you!
you were right about simplicity
last time (couple years ago) it was much more tricky to reprogram all rom
just flashed 2.69 radio and will check it's stability
i have 3.02... radio on a g4
