From my point of view is sw from LG good only for drivers and firmware update. For contact managing and other tasks I'm using MyPhoneExplorer with plugin in phone which will enable connect through wi-fi. I also used this sw with Sony Ericsson before and this tool is my favorite.

I'm using Gmail Contacts.
With this you can sync with Thunderbird and another programs.

+1 to gmail sync and thunderbird. I can keep all my email accounts and phone contacts synced up with thunderbird on both my PC and my Macbook. very good if you plan to flash ROMs on your phone frequently.

Gmail Sync Problems

Hi,
I'm having problems syncing my contacts from my phone to my Gmail account. Basically, they're syncing the wrong way!
If I put a new number in my phone then sync to Gmail the number is deleted as it isn't already in my Gmail contacts list.
Surely this is the wrong way around? Surely it should add the new number to my Gmail account? After all, the phone is the logical place to create new contacts.
So, what am I doing wrong? Any suggestions?
If it matters I'm running Vodafone branded firmware: Baseband 1.2.28, Build R2BA024.
Thanks.

could it be you're editing your contacts on gmail as well? then again.. it couldn't be because it's 2 different contacts right?
how bout, if you create an account in google contacts? does it get synced with your fone and show up there?
Yeah if I add a contact to Gmail it syncs to my phone fine. Just not the other way around.
*confused*

i also have a question to this case. obviously (and i think this is also the reason why this thread was opened) gmail sync only syncs the contacts from your gmail-account to the phone...actually it would be more valuable if i could transfer the contacts from my phone to my gmail-account, as it would also be a kind of backup if something happens to my device.
it is also a thing of daily routine, if i receive a new number or mailadress, i do save it in my phone. because of the only sync-direction gmail->phone, i have to sit in front of my pc in the evening and add the new contact details to my gmail-account...? wouldn't it be easier if i could start a transfer from my phone TO gmail?!?!

My thoughts exactly! Far more logical that way around.
The weird thing is, it used to work that way for me. Now it doesn't. As far as I'm aware I haven't changed any settings on either my phone or my gmail account. Very strange!
Tried clearing the cache btw and that hasn't solved the problem.

so you already did that with your X10? you transferred the contacts of your phone to gmail?
of course it would be perfect, if i could chose which side should synchronize with the other...
e.g. if i need to reset my phone, then i'd love to get my contacts back from gmail!
hope, that somebody can help us here!

Yeah. As far as I'm aware it used to sync in both directions. When I first got my phone I ran a manual sync and all my contacts appeared on my phone. Then if I added one to my phone, or changed one, and ran another sync it would update my gmail contacts with the new/changed one.
Now it doesn't. Strange!
The only thing I can think it would be is that I changed the last part of my address from googlemail.com to gmail.com.
I wonder if that might have something to do with it?

hey dont worry for that part as it syncs all contacts in a very clever way, for eg i had flashed my phone several times and didnt kept backup of my contacts(apart from one on gmail) and when i was done with flashing i just use to sync them again with gmail and voila..ph got updated according to copy of gmail contacts...so it doesnt deleates the contacts on gmail...

hm, so it should normally align both states maybe? is the sync-function really checking the contacts of the phone and those in gmail an adds only the contacts on that side, where they are missing?
well, i have tried the sync once and it deleted all the new contacts on my phone! there was only a transfer of my gmail-contacts to my X10...phone book was ignored and even overwritten!
any hints what sunjin an i do wrong?

It used to sync both ways for me but now it doesn't. This is very, VERY annoying as I frequently add new contacts to my phone but I now have to remember to go add them to Gmail too or they get deleted next time I sync. Illogical if you ask me.
Can anyone with a different phone/version of Android confirm if this happens to you also?

[Q] How do I sync with Outlook?

It was easy on my HTC Desire. Just install HTC sync and Bobs your uncle. However I've installed the Moto drivers and Media link. It's even updated itself a couple of times but I can see no place to select the syncing of my Outlook calendar?

Download MyPhoneExplorer for the Android Market its free and works like a charm. You'll also need the PC version, but of all the ones I have tried this one is the best.
For paid ones, gSyncit is the best for $20.

Thanks Guys.
MyPhoneExplorer did the trick for me. Bloody bizzare not having a standard sync on the phone for Outlook though. Even Samsung has that (It didn't work but at least they pretended to want to support Outlook !)
Thanks Again.
Change my mind. Myphoneexplorer now deletes appointments if I create a new one on outlook. Then it copied all my google appointments to my outlook calendar. I wanted them separate otherwise I would have just used google and saved myself the hassle. Then when I delete the appointment in outlook myphone explorer goes and deletes the google appointment on my phone! Luckily I tried deleting just the one appointment. Now uninstalled myphoneexplorer it's to dangerous. Any body got any other suggestions?

[Q] Why Samsung has Kies, HTC has HTC Sync and Motorola has nothing to sync Outlook?

Maybe it is a stupid question, but I search and search an answer and I did not find it.
Why Samsung has Kies, HTC has HTC Sync and Motorola has nothing to sync Outlook? (no Exchange)
I'm currently using MyPhoneExplorer ... because I don't want to sync contact ant calendar on the cloud.
Another question is there any ROM that allow us Atrix owner any sync app like those mentioned, HTC Sync or Kies? I know about CompanionLink, Syncdroid, etc.
Thanks, regards from Argentina.
Wouldn`t it be great if someone could get the sourcecode of Kies, modify it to get updates from a private server so it would allow for the uploads of any custom roms made by the community that are in the database..... That`s what we need!!

You mean like Rom Manager? Except RM is easier, no need for a comp and a cable..

As far as I know Motorola has support for exchange. In the accounts set up the corporate email. And u should be fine. I may have not understood your question although.

Think I understand what the OP is looking for, as it's the same for me. Corporate email will work if you have access to your Exchange server. I cannot sync Outlook email through Exchange as my companies security prevents this (if you have a Blackberry or iPhone they let you sync. My company does not trust the security on Android). The closest I can get is syncing Contacts and Calendar, and I have only found 2 programs that do this effectively on the Atrix, one being CompanionSync (sync through GMail), the other being MyPhoneExplorer (Sync with Outlook). Syncing through Gmail with Google Sync is horrible, even with the latest version, and it doesn't play well with Meeting Room Manager either.
There is still no one stop solution for Motorola which allows you to sync Outlook email, contacts, and calendar.
<edit> There is also the following which I have not tried yet:
The Missing Sync

You never know! We have 18,000 employees! heh
What I heard with us is that they would take a look at Gingerbread to see if it meets the security needs. If it doesn't it will be ICS they look at next.

[Q] Can't Get HTC Sync Mgr To Start on Mac

Running Mt. Lion and latest Sync Mgr download. Appeared to install OK but will not start either on connect of the HTC One or manually. Anyone got this to work?
So far I am using Missing Sync for Android to transfer Music and Photos to device, Android File Transfer to transfer Photos to Mac, and Smooth Sync for Contacts and Calender to sync to iCloud and all that is working. But I would like to get the Sync Mgr working if possible.
Thanks for any help or info.

Obvious answers.
1. Uninstall and re-install.
2. Unplug your Mac, take it back to the store and buy a *insert Windows PC brand here* (Sorry have to do this one)
3. Software Requirements (Macintosh):
Mac OS X 10.6 or higher version
Microsoft Office for Mac 2011
Source: HTC.com
Or just get a real computer
Didn't know you could still buy one of those "real" computers. Understand sales are almost non-existent but there must be a few die hards around.
Forgot to mention same setup worked great on HTC ONE X+.
Did I mention I am looking for help?

Thanks for the help. I did try turning off AFT since it automatically pops up and then nothing happens but maybe I need to uninstall it. I'll give that a try.

For photos I use DropBoks. Works great...it will sync all pictures to the cloud and sync them to any computer (Mac or PC) running DropBoks.
I will try Missing Sync and see if it can sync my music and playlists.
Surprised to see so much anti mac stuff here.......

Thanks, I'll take a look at DropBoks. I have so much stuff on iPhoto - up to about four different libraries now - that I really enjoy just plugging in my iPhone and syncing everything with no hassle. That is really why I keep going back to it even though all the new Android phones are really nice. I would like to enjoy the great phone features instead of fighting the sync problems.

[Q] Manage phone contacts on PC

Hi All,
I am trying to find a solution to managing my phone contact on my windows PC. I find that HTC sync manager which is provided by HTC does not have this function. Any idea, what is the best way to manage (add pic, merge, delete, add) my phone contacts from my PC.
The contact list is large so I find it difficult to edit all in phone itself. Any help would be appreciated.
Just use a Google account. It's the easiest way...

question, when you...copy contacts, import/export contacts, copy contacts to google acc, do these functions in any way delete your contacts on your phone. ?
I want to export my contacts to my pc, or to my google acc and worry that it could be deleted on my phone by doing this.
