Will Cyanogen be used? - Optimus One, P500, V General

If the LG P500 doesn't get the gingerbread update, will we be able to use Cyanogen or any other things to update yourself?
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App

Cyanogen has not yet confirmed any development on 2.3 at this time, and the fact that the OO, OT, and OS are not really the same phone, there is still no telling how the Cyanogen team will release a ROM.
everything is still very early and there are no real answers until the next few months.

How is it possible that Evo has 2.3 ported

Before the galaxy s? Is there any hope for a pure gingerbread and it looks like the evo is off and running with it smooth as butter with a minor hitch with gps issues... not sure how that works, the galaxy s and nexus s are almost identical hardware wise.

Looks like a lot of their roms are AOSP (Android Open Source Project) based. This means they can take the direct source of Android and modify their roms to the Evo hardware. Correct me if I'm wrong but I don't believe anyone has built a good solid working rom for the Vibrant off of the AOSP source alone. We've been getting builds leaked from Samsung and modifying them to build the Vibrant roms you see now. I believe Team Whiskey is working on a AOSP rom and Cyanogen Mod is an AOSP rom that they are working on porting over to Vibrant. Master/Devs4Android released an AOSP clone. I believe someone else said they have Gingerbread working and they are just bug fixing at the moment.

I would venture to say that the Evo is usually the first phone to have this stuff ported to it. It's a high demand phone to get the best ROM's on so it usually gets them first. Don't get me wrong, I love my Vibrant, and so does Team Whiskey so they're working on 2.3, they have it ported but it's experimental still, they'll let us know when it's working. But as far as CyanogenMod goes, they usually port to the Evo first.
Where is the download link for this rom? When I search "Evo 2.3" I don't get any vibrant roms.
Silly developers forgetting links
</sarcasm>
also keep in mind, once the Vibrant 2.2 source is put out the devs will have easier time porting 2.3 also
How's the battery life on this rom? Can I flash it with clockwork mod? Do I have to disable voodoo?

Mooseberrypie is the best Rom for the Vibrant hands down. I hear they'll get honey comb running soon! haha brilliant.
Mooseberrypie bricked me. Anyone want to sign my Class Action Lawsuit petition? I have a lawyer, I promise
How is 2.2 source going to help with 2.3 code? That's like saying 2.1 source for our kernels helped us build a 2.2 build for our hardware.

Its funny when the witty comments just arent witty anymore.. i told my friend id get a bunch of trolls saying stuff like "does this wipe sd card" "do i need to disable voodoo"... its really old now, first person that ever did it got a chuckle... but i do agree that having 2.2 code prolly wouldnt help too much being its a porting...

What about my (soft bricked my pants joke )is that still good or?.....
simple answer is that its an htc phone, htc releases everything for their phones while samsung does not, though honestly I prefer my Vibrant to my G2

[Q] Official rom update from the LG website

It is said that these days will come out the official ROM update to version 2.3 or 2.2 on site manufacturer LG. Has anyone heard the same regarding this?
Events are .... and we expect that all the LG team and do ...
That might be great but I don't think so...
There are many LG-Android-Phones and LG might be silly if they give the GT540 a official 2.2/2.3-Update.
If you show us a source... I cannot imagine...

i asked the LG service very often (the last time 2 weeks ago) if they will make a update for the GT540 but they always said NO ...
if this is true all my dreams (for the GT540) will be completed ... !!!!
i hope this is no bad joke :/
what's about cyanogen mod? any news about support from cyanogen for lg gt540?

No official support...

This has been discussed quite a few times The GT540 Swift/Loop/Optimus won't get a rom update. LG is saying that the GT540 is not optimized for Froyo/Gingerbread. The reason (was back then) - LG Optimus One which came with 2.2. And then, again, Cyanogen was ready to give official support to the GT540, but no one was there to maintain the GT540. Search the CyanogenMod forum, and you will see.

The rule of CM7 is you don't pester people about CM7 releases and updates. So they'll release it when they feel it's ready.

yay! another 'when will CM7 be available for our phone' thread.... just what we needed after all the others got shut down
Sorry, didn't know. Won't ask again.

To answer your question though, the Atrix CM dev team is hard at work (like, realllly hard) and CM7 for the Atrix is currently in Alpha mode, with the team and some select testers working to find and fix the bugs. It's been in Alpha for about a week now I think, and as I've followed their progress a lot of the really big issues have been ironed out (they have cell service now, which was the big one). Soon, perhaps in a couple days to maybe a week or so (can't guarantee), a beta will be out. Not perfect, but out for release! Soon after that, full and virtually bugless versions will be out, and HOPEFULLY they are allowed to do nightlies as the official CM7 team for the Atrix.

2.3.6 rom for optimus v?

Is there a 2.3.6 rom for the optimus v? Cyanogen is only up to 2.3.5
Just wait for IHO to update. It pulls from CyanogenMod upstream.
kernel.org is still down after hackers gained access recently, so that's likely what's holding things up.
What they hacked into thats why weere not getting any new roms out latley?? :/
Ohh were getting roms , just roms modified from Mik_os cm7. Ie. Nexuscyano and many others.I give them credit for actually doing so. Just be patient, Andy's busting his balls to get one out and daxelectro is releasing a second version of sonygenmod within the next week. There is still hope for our devices. There is also team envy who I'm pretty sure will create new buzz for the LG optimus forums

Yea but andy should release as he goes I understand he wants it perfect but as its in RC now he should release to find all little bugs

Anyways 2.3.6 does not have anything to do with this phone. It is a small bug-fix update which fixes some bug in the Google talk app in Samsung Nexus S.

true exactly to the point doesn't make sense to update if it brings nothing useful

Ask the community time

I have brief experience with developing roms from source, more specifically cyanogenmod back in the HTC g1 days when froyo hadn't even been revealed, now that I'm finally getting a computer with Internet, I will finally be able to do alot more than answer questions.. I am curious though, what would the community like to see in the realms of reality, other than ics or cm9? Arjen and Andy have that, what kind of tweaks, mods, things users would enjoy seeing... I've never developed for lg Optimus t before
