Please can you describe exactly what you did to get the keyboard running? I tried to toggle verification in 'other' but after installation the keyboard is still crashing.
Thank you!!
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App

I tried flashing it with verification off but i still get an error.
"E: Error in /sdcard/update.zip
(Status 0)".
What does this mean? Did I do something wrong? what should I do?
Thanks in advance.

Only to be sure... did you rename the zip file? Because i never saw the keyboard zip with this name. Maybe you mixed something up?

oops. Was i not supposed to rename the zip?
Yes i renamed the zip into update.zip.
I reverted it into its default name but it still gave me that error.
Maybe I need to redownload it.

I've flashed the fixed version without error, but when i reboo, my device freezes on operator screen.
I had to do a Nand Restore.
Fixed version in http://briefmobile.com/guide-install-android-2-3-keyboard

after flashed the fixed keyboard allsalvati posted and disabled verification ..I am running the ginger keyboard finally..and I like ittttttt!!!!!™

That rom isn't signed.
You need to testsign this first. Or... Did you not install patched recovery?
hello
what i have done is ...
1) installed INSTAROOT
2) Installed ASTRO File manager
3) Copied FLASHREC.apk and recovery-RA-herov1.5.2.img to SD card from PC
4) Installed FLASAHREC via ASTRO File manager
5) Backup and Restore it with recovery-RA-herov1.5.2.img
6) Copied Villian12 to SD Card
7) Went to Root Boot by holding HOME and POWER button
8) WIPE the DATA, DIVCACHE, BATTERY and all things except SD CARD coz couldnt able to do it..it was showing to wipe via adb..ya i have done partition too
9) FLASH UP WITH ZIP UPDATE
10) it started but end up with No Signature (785 files)
INSTALLATION ABORTED
Custom ROMs (such as VR12 for example) should not fail verification. If they do the file is corrupt. You need to redownload it and then retry (just the part of putting it on the SD card and flashing it from the recovery).
Ok. Sounds like recovery is not patched maybe?
Install amonra 1.6.2 and be sure recovery says its version at bottom of screen in recovery

Follow steps 1 to 10 of this guide, and then 11: http://www.villainrom.co.uk/viewtopic.php?p=4956#p4956
Then follow section 2 to install your custom rom. Be aware that the link in the guide points to an old version of villainrom, but you can just use a newer rom exactly the same like vr12 or something
Thanks a ton friends

3 UK & androd 2.1 update - Help please
Please can someone please help.
I have an unlocked Orange HTC Hero, and someone loaded a 3 UK Rom Android 1.5, from the web forums, which is supposed to be the same as an Offical one from 3. I'm
not sure if they used "update-hero-generic-2.73.771.73-signed.zip" or update-hero-generic-2.73.771.73-rooted-signed.zip. Does it matter?
I now get the 3 UK OTA update to android 2.1, I want to use this and keep all the 3 stuff, but when I try to install, I get the following;
Build : RA-hero-v1.5.2
Finding update package …
Opening update package …
Verifying update package …
E:No signature (660 files)
E:Verification failed
Installation aborted.
What am I doing wrong? I'm really very new to all this.
Thank you.
I am confused myself, why on earth would you want to use a 3 UK ROM on an Orange network? If anything you wanna be using a WWE ROM...
I'm on the 3 Network (not Orange). Only the handset is an unlocked Orange handset. Any ideas please?

oh right, sorry. Your using a generic ROM there for the one you want to update but on the phone is a 3 ROM. If you wipe it you will loose everything on the phone.
Your gettin verification failed because they are different. 3 ROM on the phone and generic WWE rom what your trying to put on it. You will need to use a 3 UK 2.xx.xx.xx rom first.
The Original Rom was of course Orange.
Now I'm not sure if I have "update-hero-generic-2.73.771.73-signed.zip" or update-hero-generic-2.73.771.73-rooted-signed.zip on the phone right now, from the forums. It's one of them.
The OTA update for 2.1 fails to install - I get the following;

E:No signature (660 files)

Thanks,
So what are you trying to do? downgrade? the rom from 2.1 to a 1.5 rom?
I want the OTA 2.1 upgrade from 3 Network UK to install, But I get the error already mentioned.

ah, then in that case you will need to try a restore on your rom you have loaded, I get what you mean now. Try a restore/erase phone from the settings menu first, then try the OTA again. You will loose any content on the phone.
If I restore/erase, what Rom will then be on the phone. Wouldn't it then be blank, or would the old Orange come back. How would I get the 3 Rom back on the phone. I'm really confused.

It will restore the ROM loaded but back to default as in what ROM is loaded now but with default settings. It has the 3 ROM on the phone now doesn't it?... Or does it have the Orange ROM on it?
Yes, you are confused. I can tell because you are confusing me too.

DID a hard reset though Android Recovery, and then tried to download the NEW OTA, and during installation got the same error. I am currently on 4.2.7 build 154_6
Right Now trying to RSD 4.3.6, will update
Update: Flashing Build 4.3.6 through RSD failed, I get the screen filled with noise
Update: Flashing 154_5 with RSD Success
system downloaded 4.2.7 OTA, and then Download 4.3.6, all works
BUT it blows i had to do all this.....could Bootstrap recovery be blamed??? i have another photon, that was rooted that same way as this but that one had no bootstrap recovery and the OTA went fine
update: http://www.uploadhere.com/UPPUJTGZNO if people need the 154_5 full SBF
same here, update fails. stock rooted
Download it and as soon as it starts to install, press Volume up AND down, it will tell you whats going on, i had to go all the way back to 154_5 to get it going, hard reset did not work
Do you have bootstrap installed and if so, ever restored a backup?
no bootstrap, just rooted
well try pressing volume up and down and lets see what the error is, sometimes it can be resolved.
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/appaccountandsyncsettings.apk", "96a3dd49051c5b6cf5e31fd080d2f1398157f02c", "485f9b3476f156630d72fcc1564737f2029a40")

I also am just 1 click rooted, during the update it starts and soon goes into the exclamation mark. I don't know what the bootstrap is; I just one click rooted. I have tried to update twice now with no luck...

That means that the build.prop has been modified and does not match what the installer is expecting (hash wise). Should be easily fixed by switching in build.prop from the stock sbf.
I forgot to mention that besides having OCR I have the modified webtop dock software to run from an HDMI cable. Would that be my issue in updating? Is there any way to get the original files (it was really dumb but i just went ahead and deleted them and didnt save them elsewhere before)

Download stock sbf of the version you have. Switch in files that fail hash check with adb or root explorer.
After clicking "Download" button process doesn't start visually but if I trying to check update again I get the message "An update is currently being downloaded. You will be notified when the download is complete". Wipe is done. All stock apps are available. Nothing happens, the update is hanging somewhere in the background. What should I do?

I tried that, I did modify my build.prop and I had backed up my original one, I also did a hard reset and still got the same error, untill i had to RSD flash 154_5. Question though, How do you extract a build.prop file from a sbf, what do you use to do it?

reboot and see if it helps, or connect to wifi
I also am not able to update to the new OTA.
I receive the following error message:
assert failed: apply_patch_check("/system/app/SprintOMADMConnMoPlugin.apk", "looongstring1", "loongstring2")
I deleted the .apk file to stop Sprint searching for network at the beginning. I guess that is the reason why its not letting me update. Is there anywhere I can find this file from? Does Sprint/Motorola provide it? Am I screwed?
ROOTING is not the Problem, my other photon had the OCR and updated fine, some of the APKs are getting modified, if nothing goes the last resort might be what i had to do.
Anyone can please provide the methods to extract specific files from sbf, that might help, the SBF would have to be from the current file system as your phone.
I agree. Even in my case, I have deleted an apk which is causing this. Need to find a way to get the apk back or else the previous update is going to be my last

[Q] Huawei U8860 Read-only file system

Hello Everyone,
I badly need help on my Huawei Honor U8860 phone. I have recently updated it from 2.3.6 to 4.03 over WIFI and the update went smoothly. So now here is what my phone have:
Kernel Version: 3.0.8-perf-00059-g3a757a2 [email protected] #1
Build Number: U8860IV100R001C00B923SP01
I have not rooted the phone at this time. It was working fine until 2 days ago when I started getting messages on the screen like:
"Unfortunately, 2D Home has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Contacts has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Settings has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Google Play Music has stopped"
"Unfortunately, Browser has stopped"
And so on, and so forth. It seems that all apps and processes have stopped when I try to use them so I literally can't use the phone. I went through several threads here just trying to restore my phone back to a
working state. I tried to do the following in order but without success:
1.) Factory data reset / erase everything - the phone boots to the recovery menu then it formats the /Data, /Cache and /HWUserData then it reboots. After reboot, the phone is back to where it was before the factory data reset with everything in it including downloaded apps.
2.) Manually uninstalled all downloaded apps. Removed screen lock (just to see if phone behavior changes). Then rebooted the phone but after reboot, all the apps are still installed and the screen lock is back as well.
3.) I tried to Force Update with the following official ROMs: B886, B919 and B923 but I always get the message "Update failed" during the update process.
4.) I downloaded the file "recovery-u8860-en.img" so I can replace the "recovery.img" file . Rebooted the phone w/ the pink screen and connected it to my PC but there is no USB mass storage device mounted.
5.) Finally, I tried to root the phone. I enabled USB debugging. I installed the ADB drivers then I downloaded the U8860 root tools and rootexplorer.apk. When I ran the "root-me.cmd", it tried to copy some files to the phone but it failed. The error was "read-only file system".
So it seems that the problem is because of the "read-only filesystem". I does not permit/allow any changes made to the phone. Can you help me restore my phone?
Please.. Can somebody help me on this?
Thanks, clint2rose

what do you mean by flashing your current ROM? Just like any other stock ROM put the dload folder on the sd-card and start the update procedure either from the settings menu or via the boot-key-combination.
Yes the way you discribed is the correct one for flashing those patches, If those patches also don't work, I'm out of ideas, sorry.

Thank you once more for your time. Most of the thread I read regarding these patches often used the phrase" you have to flash the current version of your ROM using the patch"...
And yes I created dload folder, place the UPDATE.APP and put it on the sdcard. I turned off the phone and removed the battery. Then I pressed vol+ vol- and power on/off button. The firmware update went to about 70% installing before displaying update failed.
I guess I will have to bring my phone to a repair center. My only problem is that there is no Huawei service center at my place (I reside here in Saudi Arabia). I got the phone as a free device on a broadband package and the warranty is already expired. I'm a little worried to take the phone to the small mobile repair shops as they might screw up the phone even more. Huawei is not a popular device here unlike iPhone, HTC and Samsung Galaxy.
As I understood that your device is rooted, you should get some custom ROM and try to install it.

you don't need to be rooted, you only need to have a custom recovery deployed (which you can either do with root permissions, or by using the pink screen method, but some newer stock roms (you said your on 932 or something? last non-locked working is b919) this has been locked and the device will not boot if the kernel or the recovery image has been manipulated.
I think you will have to find some (huawei-certified!) repair-center, small do-it-all phone-shops probably won't be able to take care of this problem for you.. I'm sorry but I don't see any other solution

Ok. I will try to find a repair-center experienced in Huawei devices. I have one last question if you don't mind. Is it possible to erase everything on the phone? As in completely erase or reformat after which there will not be an operating system on the phone. I read in some threads that this is possible w/ custom recovery but I want to know if it is also possible for phones without the custom recovery. I'm hoping there might be some tool or something..

Have you find the solution yet? I have the same problem. Somehow my phone system is "locked". I can't install or uninstall app. Some google apps keep showing not responding. Everything changes i made, keep showing up after the phone rebooted.
This was happen a few days after I upgrade to ICS B932SP01 and rooted my phone (to remove original chinese apps).
Luckily i have friend in huawei indonesia. He gave my u8860 to the technical support. But the result was no good.
They try everything, even install my phone with the original GB and always failed.
The last suggestion is change the phone machine, which is as same as buy a new phone.
I really appreciate is someone can help me here...
Thanks

[Q] Mokee OTA Update

Hi there,
I am currently running the Mokee OS 4.4.3 enrc2b 140610 on my HOX+. All works fine until I try to update.
No matter to what version I try to update, it always tells me: "/system/framework/core.odex has unexpected contents" when checking system files.
After that:
"E: Error in /data/media/0/mkupdater/OTA-MK(version).zip
(Status 7)
Installtion aborted."
So what can I do? I have Xposed framework installed, disabling it won't help. I didn't mess around with the core.odex myself and I can't think of any app that could be the reason for it. Downloading the OTA updates again didn't help either.
I am open for any help and advices!
Installing the whole OS completly new is the last thing I want to try.

I gonna try that, thank you man!
For Everyone who are unable to use OTA, Just do this, mount and format /system of Mokee from latest CWM, Later flash the Release ROM you have, don't flash gapps ( The release versions consist gapps, don't know about nightly/experimental), Next go to mokee center, download OTA and flash it. It will be successful, now after booting don't remove any system apps, If you don't need just go to TB and Frost them, also don't make any changes to build.prop, Don't flash gapps too

Smartisan Nut Pro Root access to modify build.prop

Hello,
I recently got an Smartisan Nut Pro (U2) and really love it. Unfortunate the seller put a modified rom unto it and changed the device name making it impossible to flash the device to the most recent version. When flashing i get an error: E3004: This package is for "odin" devices; this is a "Odin_haiwai".
I tried to change this but because i don't have root access i cannot. I tried editing the updater.script file in the update zip but got an error saying: E:failed to verify whole-file signature E:signature verification failed installation aborted
Tried KingOroot to root device but that failed as well..
In the current rom they removed system apps which make some features unusable. :crying:
Any idea would be much appreciated.
If there are questions please ask and i will answer asap.

I returned the device and bought it from a different seller with the correct software. Got it and it works great!
I did the same. The shipper told me that there's no way to solve this. I'll buy again.
did you fix it?
