[Q] Color vs. Tablet-Better touchscreen?

I liked the nook color touchscreen, but it had the occasional goof up. Especially corners and using the keyboard. Can anyone tell me if the screen is more responsive or accurate on the Nook Tablet?
I was never too deeply familiar with the nook color, but i can tell you that i have not had one bit of trouble out of the nt's keyboard or touchscreen that wasnt just simple human error.
No unresponsiveness, no random bouncing when typeing on the keyboard, no slowdown. Its everything i was hoping for.
Thats great to hear! Little by little, im getting antsy to get one...

Screen Color Issue

I'm super annoyed with the support I have received from B&N. I purchased both Kindle Fire and the Nook Tablet. I wanted to use it just as carry around portfolio. The color cast issue on the Nook Tablet was so yellow. Everything I watched or put on the tablet had a slight yellow cast. So I went to the store and showed them they said it wasn't a issue there. Probably cause the lighting in the B&N stores is terrible to begin with. Regardless they let me swap out the tablet. Came home same issue.
I'm not noticing that on mine. Side note: Who's the girl? Lol.

No one ever discussed in any review the color comparison that is between the two tablets. The screen is a lot sharper on the Nook Tablet with less glare. The kindle fire has a slight blue tint with a more muddier contrast. Watching two movies side by side same movie the Nook tablet you can see more of the fine detail in the video compared to the Kindle Fire.

As a graphic designer a portable portfolio is part of the reason i got the Nook Tablet as well. If im not mistaken the nook and the ipad use the same type of display, so i dont think you are going to get a much better screen any where else. You are probably only noticing the yellow cast because you are looking at the blueish KF right next to it.
----Edit-------
Personaly I think the nook screen looks ritcher next to the KF.
Could you please post the original image of the woman?
On the posted thumbnails, the skin tone is better on the Nook - and a whole lot less glare.
I noticed this too on my NT. Compared to my GT10 it's much warmer color.
Here is the original
Yep, the Nook Tablet has a very warm color balance. Noticed it right away. Compared to anything else - even the Nook Color - it's very noticeable. I'm a photographer and was also planning to use this for images so if it can't be adjusted, it's probably going back. Except for this flaw, the screen is really outstanding.

I envy your job.
The NT looks like it has a more natural saturation, the KF looks washed-out.

They are both turned up to the same brightness. The contrast might be a little more dark in the KF. The NT is actually the same saturation just a whole different white balance. The laminated screen does stop the glare which looking in a dark room at both tablets its not as noticeable. I have the GSII and the saturation is way off but still a great device.
IF the Nook Tablet gets rooted, there is an Android color calibration app (root is required for this unfortunately as a separate system zip must be flashed in recovery beyond just the app) which can likely be used to tweak the WB. I used it on the original Nexus One and others have used it on more recent Samsungs which have root. Here is the thread:

The bootloader is still locked so I believe that means you can't load another rom or boot into a recovery program. You need to start up in a recovery program to install part of the calibration software into the system by flashing there before the apk is loaded. So, I think we need the bootloader unlocked to do all this which we are still awaiting.
I think you may have a real issue. I'm getting ready to return my second unit due to over-saturated screen colors. I wouldn't have noticed that they were off if it weren't for the fact that I had another Nook that looked so much better. I've also seen the screen revert to normal for a session, but returns to poor quality when shut off and turned back on.
I've been using the welcome to Nook video as my standard. She should not look like she just had a bad bronzing job (almost orange). If she does, you may have an issue.
I've also noticed some very faint horizontal artifacting. Like a bad connection somewhere.

What I'm seeing on mine is just a warm color balance, not over-saturated color, lines or anything else. A quick way to see this is to view a black and white image on the Nook Tablet and compare that with another screen, preferably a calibrated one. On the Nook Tablet, the black and white image will look brown to sepia toned versus neutral gray tones.

[Q] Best Method To Make Screen Color Accurate

I love the screen on the GSII but the colors are way off when it comes to pictures. Everything is oversaturated and I'm wondering what's the best way to get the screen to look color accurate. I'm a photographer so it'd be nice if the pictures looked good on my phone (color wise) as they do on my laptop which is color accurate.
Voodoo screen tuning is a free app on the market that I believe can help u out . Give it a try

I tried it but it makes the gradients in color look really bad because it changes the gamma.

Purple or Gray ?

Is it just me or my computer monitor because a lot of the photos for the "Gray" version look purple rather than gray.
I ordered the Gray version but if it looks purple like the many photos that I have seen, then I may just change to the gold color instead.
Amethyst Grey has an inherently purple hue to it.
Yeah it's definitely purple, although not overwhelmingly so.
If I was a female, then the purple hue would be great.
But I am a macho man so I feel the purple hue on the tablet is a little "_ _ _ "
For those who can't decide yet in what color they want their prime.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1373704
I was able to try out the TP at my local gamestop and the purple didn't really bother me since it was more of a grey with a purple hue and the purple is very dark so there's only a small hint of it. Ofcourse it's hard to really describe it if you haven't seen the actual thing.

If a slight purple hue affects your manhood or how you feel about your sexuality then I think you have more to worry about than which color of tablet to buy.
Oops. I hope my winking at you in an emoticon didn't make you uncomfortable.

ahhahaha, +10 internets for you!
I prefer to think of it as more of a "crushed velour pimp suit" purple, which reinforces rather than erodes my manhood.
It's gray. I examined it at my local GameStop too.. I think of it as gunmetal gray, which has blue tones in it.
It's almost the same color as the aftermarket wheels on my car.
Don't worry about it.

oh now i know what color it is exactly, why didn't you say so earlier?!
if they have a demo unit at the gamestop i ordered mine from, i'll go take a gander tomorrow and maybe try to explain it relative to things i own as well.

LOL. I get the point, but gunmetal gray is pretty descriptive. Only trying to help describe it for the OP.
Primes colors are Amethyst Gray.. So would be strange if we didn't see a purple tone. And the purple is the base color with a little gray in som viewing angles.
Amethyst = Amethyst is a well known mineral and gemstone. It is the purple variety of the mineral Quartz,

What color is better?

I'm ready to order this sick tablet, i know it has a lot of issues but i still want it but my question is, which one looks better the amethyst gray or champaign gold? Should i get the 64gb or 32gb ?
i would go with the grey always a better color in my opinion and i highly reccomend 64gb version i order the 32 and wish i ordered the 64gb version because i loaded 3 movies on it on my apps some ebooks and im already up to about 16gb used. Also remeber when you order 32gb you can only use 27gb of that so with the 64gb you really get about 659gb
I say get the amethyst gray.I have the 32gb gray version & I love it.As far as the 64gb goes I would just buy a micro SD card, class 4 or 6 will be fine.
That's a funny question to ask when people can't even agree on what color Amethyst Grey really is and have compared "Champagne" to urine. If you can, try to see them in person. If not, flip a coin.
I like the green one.
This is personal. Y u no get that?
hey I am looking at a car, should I go with a truck or a minivan?
Really, this question is about as ill thought out as the OP. Don't ask questions that are personal opinion. Which color do you like better? Look at the pictures and decide. how much memory should you get? How do we know what you are gonig to do with it. General surfing, email, and general use 32 gb is great. If you want something for 1000 1080p movies then you might want to think about the larger memory. Really, I cannot believe you would waste peoples time with this kind of question.
I think in addition to the "thanks" Tab we need the "stupid post" tab
Sorry rant over
from what I hear
The grey is 10% faster than the gold. That's just how it is
Purple has higher energy than gold in the electromagnetic spectrum so it will run faster
The gold is "limited edition." It's worth more.
Plus it will get you laid.
I've seen both, the grey is purple and the champagne is more grey colored. Weird stuff, really.
I don't think the grey is purple at all
Champagne tastes better than amethysts. Better go with the champagne.
Though if it's looks we're talking about, personally I'm getting Amethyst Grey.

In certain lights I guess you can see a purplish tint not too noticeable though
I have the grey and it is purple looking... but it looks awesome.
Gold is worth more than "Silver" or whatever worthless metal that grey can represent. haha

Platinum says hello!
I have a Champagne tablet and an Amethyst docking station, because that's the only color of each one I could get right away. Was originally planning to sell the docking station when I could get the Champagne one, but I really like the combination the way I have it now.
The Amethyst gray is kinda dark, and a strong tinge of the purple color, and works well as the docking station color (kind of "grounds" the base unit if you're using artsy talk). The Champagne color is very light, very little gold tinge to it, and a nice color for the tablet unit.
I don't think you'd be disappointed with either color
post pics of that Hybrid Color Prime!!!
