[Q] USB connection - Activesync Problem! - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi.
Firstly, sorry about my English.
I am using HTC HD2 about 6 months. I was able to connect my phone with my pc by USB. But nowadays, i can't do it.
My PC is using Windows 7 64-bit.
Now, my problem is:
When i connect USB cable, there is no notification or sound in my PC. (like "a device connected to PC" or "a new hardware found" etc.)
Phone can be charged via USB connection with PC but I can't use activesync.
Otherwise, when i connect PC and phone by Bluetooth, i can use WMDC.
I controlled "USB to PC" module in my phone. I tried "enable faster data synchronization" checked and unchecked. And i checked "Ask me first..." But there is no effect
And also, i tried it in another PC (which is Vista) and another USB Cable.
And when i shut down the device, and i open it while pressing volume down button, bootloader opened but in bootloader screen there wasn't a text like "USB". There is a text "Serial".
I make hard reset but it doesn't effect too.
What do you think about my problem? May it be about USB input of my phone?
I used to make HSPL in my phone and he has custom rom now.
If the problem is a hardware problem, is it out of warranty? :S
Please help me.
Thanks.

It maybe because you are using Win 7 64 bit. Try installing 32 bit as well and see if it cures your problem.

Hi.
Thank you for your attention.
Unfortunately, i tried it, too. In another PC, whose OS is Vista 32-bit. There is no sound or notification at PC
Actually, i've searched so many topics in this forum.
And i am almost sure that my problem is a hardware problem.
Because i tried so many things in settings of PC and Phone but there is no change.
I just wanna ask you, guys, if i send my phone to service, is there any problem about my phone's HSPL and Custom ROM situtation??
So the problem is hardware problem and most probably my USP Port is damaged.
Do you think they tell me that "your phone is out of warranty bec. of HSPL!" ?
Thanks.

faulty cable or faulty usb port. search out the "stuck in car kit mode" thread and compare the symptoms.

WM6 Unknown Device

anyone get the error message of unknown device when plugging in their wm 6 phone to a laptop, happens to me on vista homepremium and xp, both up to date. this happens about %50 of the time
I bet your USB port on the laptop is not supplying enough current (borderline, hence why it works sometimes). Try one of the following things, first try the connection while the laptop is on AC power (not internal battery). Second, do you have a double USB port adapter? This is a cable that plugs into your external USB device on one end, and has a Y-connector that plugs into 2 USB ports on your laptop, thus increasing the current capability. If either one of these suggestions solves the problem then it means the laptop is not able to supply enough current on one USB port, a common problem.
I had the same problem and found it to be a firewall issue
Ofcourse it could be a firewall issue or any issues with loading of drivers and services. A soft-reset on the device and a PC Restart will solve most of the case!
Regards,
Carty..
How would a PC Restart make your firewall accessible, I located the SmcGui.exe (symantec) created a shortcute, and use that to disable to firewall whenever I want to connect

hi guys thanks for the advice, however, i have since updated to vista ultimate and now get the following issues. xp seems to have sorted itsself out, however vista has problems installing the drivers for my phone. it says on the phone check usb cable and on the laptiop i get the symbol in the sys tray for unrecognised device. the phone will sync fine, just not allow internet sharing.(i am using a 2.0 usb port and my mobile device centre is up to date, i downloaded all the vista updates today)
my firewall has been turned off, but i believe its a driver issue as thats whats showing on the screen device not recognised.
any ideas?
For Internet Sharing in Vista, you need to install WMDC.
http://www.microsoft.com/windowsmobile/devicecenter.mspx
i have it installed, i tried changing from official rom to black satin and a few others and it still does the same. the mobile device centre will sync then i turn on the internet sharing and it installs the drivers for "unknown device". had a word with the t-mobile connectivity team who took a look at the laptop and phone, tried it on other laptops with the same result. vista doesn't like the internet sharing bit. tried the usual stuff like taking off the advanced network functionality etc.
oke here is what u gotta do :
for windows vista:
-reboot computer without wm6 device connected
-install mobile device center 6.1 (the drivers ^^)
-reboot
-wipe all activesync connections on wm6 device and vista
-disconnect device and see if advanced networking is enabled (USB to PC .. in networksettings wm6)
-set connectionssettings in mobile device center from automatic to Internet
-goto networksettings on wm6 device and choose connections
-tap advanced and select networks : both set to My ISP
-connect wm6 device and wait till it finished .. take some minute or so
installing drivers and things
-when its done unplug device and reboot computer (yes again, and i am not
going to explain why this is so important as you should know by now)
-wait for the computer to boot untill it finished (vista this take 2 minute at least)
-connect wm6 device and setup proper sync partnership
-goto connectionsettings in mobile device center and check all boxes and set it to internet if it is not allready set.
-wait for the device to do its stuff
-it will strangely reconnect after a while and internet works again
notes:
kaspersky 7 : -turn of the kaspersky protocol on the networkadapter of wm6
-allow acces to svhost when it asks for it.
norton 360: -no problem found .. maybe you need add LSP to trusted
networks
internet+wmdc 6.1
double post ...
moderator remove this please
hey dajojo yer guide is great , i tried it and unfortunately, it connected for about 30 seconds and went straight back to usb device not recognised.
when it was connecting it should show up as "generic rndis internet sharing windows mobile device" or something similar.
any further assistance would be great.
m running vista home premium 32 bit (went back to it from ultimate)
Finally Solved!
Hi there!
Seems to be the same problem on HTC Dual!
try this
go to start>settings>system>power>advanced
if the checkbox "When device is turned on, do not charge battery when connected to PC" is checked uncheck it and tap ok! Then go back again and check the checkbox again and tap ok again. and the ActiveSync software will sync all data!

[Q] flashing HTC HD2 from TMOUS

Hey everybody,
I'm new to this flashing as well...
I have a Tmobile US HTC HD2...
I installed the HSPL3 after getting the Windows Mobile Device Center...
It was installed successfully, but after that whenever I connect my HTC to my PC, I can hear the ding but my PC is not recognizing my device and there is no connected icon on the HTC as well.
I tried all the USB ports and nothing worked. Without connecting my device to the PC you know you can't flash any roms as well...
Any help please...

Are you trying to do this while your screen has the three colors?
If so....does it say USB at the bottom or serial?
not while bootlegger mode. I used that for installing the hspl3.
my pc didn't discover the connected device and there was no connected symbol (which you get on your hd2 on the top right side, next to 3G n/w symbol).
when I connect, it shows that as a mass storage device on my pc and the safely remove hardware sign shows up.
I hope this explains my problem.
settings menu all settings connections usb to pc tick active sync untick 'faster data' reboot the pc, reboot the phone. Should be fine.
Thanks Sam, it worked. Unticking the 'faster data', did the trick...
Thanks again.

does your phone charge when conneted to the computer, you do not need drivers for that. If it does not try cleaning the usb port on your phone, there maybe dust or something stopping the cable from making ful contact.
Hi,
I had a similar problem ,
1-first try to check in parmater section -> stockage if usb debugging is on
2-Second try to reinstall kies for drivers
3-> change cable or clean your usb port with a toothbruch (slightely hhhh)
4-> if nothing of these solutions works and you get an unknow device also with odin that means youre usb port is broken, it simple to change and dont cost a lot (170 MAD for me ).
There are other threads that spoke about the same problem.Hope it works
My phone charges when connected. I also tried re-installing Kies and cleaned the phone port. Nothing helped
As mentioned before, i tried lots of USB ports, also other PC's and other cables. Still not working.
Any clue?
If you've tried 'everything', then it's a hardware issue. Unroot it, reset the flash counter, send it in for warranty service.

[Q] Mouting issues (MTP)

Hi guys!
I have a rooted international Galaxy S3 (i9300) phone with a custom rom: UltimaRom (version 8.x), and using XXELLA kernel (?) and XXELLA Modem version.
Since a while, I'm trying to manage the files in it (phone memory or sd card) from my computer, simply by using an USB cable (the one given with the phone or even other cables, it doesn't matter) and the standard MTP protocol, which is used by Google since Android 3.0. And, whatever I try to do, Windows doesn't seem to notice anything. In my device manager, nothing appears. Nothing either in the "My Computer" window, it just doesn't "exist". No reaction at all from Windows. The Phone's charging, but this is all it is.
And I have the same problem using another computer (like my own laptop, or my brother's one). All computers are running Windows 8 x64 Pro.
I tried to install, re install, delete, etc. all the phone drivers I have on this computer, tried to install Samsung Kies, tried some "mounting" apps on the Play Store, nothing's working.
What should I do to make it work?
Thanks a lot!
Might be stating the obvious but is your phone set at usb debugging? I have the same issue from time to time but when I unplug and plug back it fixes itself.
Hope you get your stuff fixed soon.
Sent from my GT-I9300 using xda app-developers app
Thanks for your response.
Yes, USB Debugging is enabled.

That's odd.. I use Ultima ROM and have updated to 8.1.1. I just checked just to make sure (my last update was done OTA) and yeah, computer recognized phone right away.. heard a little computer sound and everything. I am also running Windows 8
The base changed in v8. If you haven't done a fac reset since then you should try that.
Ok I just tried to make a factory reset, nothing changes...
Oh, and if that can help: when the phone's booting, Windows says "Unrecognized device". When it's booted up, it disapears.
Anyone ?
Drivers...
I used these drivers.
It worked for me...

Thanks for your help !
Unfortunately it didn't work for me.... :/
Any other ideas ?
Sorry to keep rising this thread but this issue is really annoying... :/

Does Easy UMS work?
Can you connect via adb?
Does Odin recognize the phone?
If no to all of the above, try a different cable / port

Thank you for your response !
- Easy UMS doesn't seem to work, even if the app doesn't show any error on the phone
- How do I connect via ADB ? I tried to connect the phone while it is in Download Mode, nothing appears on Windows or Odin
- As I said, in Download Mode, Odin doesn't seems to recognize anything...
And of course, I already tried to change the cable, the USB port, or even the computer i'm connecting the phone to...
Thanks again for your help
Starting to sound like a damaged micro USB port on the phone possibly, or a driver's problem
Oh, and there's a thing: when I reboot the phone, while the Samsung logo appears on the screen with the short jingle, the PC makes 3 or 4 times a sound like something has been plugged, and showes a "Unrecognized device" warning window. When the boot is finished, and the rom is loaded, everything just disappears and no sound is any longer made by the PC.
Also, please note that when I connect the phone to the PC (using the same PC, cable and USB port of course), the phone charges up just like before, without any problem.
have you tried the old drivers?
search Google for " Samsung USB drivers 1.4.6.0 "
disconnect your computer from the internet
Install the drivers.
don't reconnect to the internet.
connect your phone and let windows find the drivers

Huawei Ascend G300 Won't connect to the computer.

Hi everyone, i want your help with an small problem that i have that's been bothering me for quite a while now. As the title says, my phone will not connect via usb to my computer, no matter what i do. There are some interesting things you should know about:
-It does work with my cousin's phone, i don't know what the exact model is, but he can connect his phone in mass storage mode without any problem.
-It does work with another computer.
-I've used 2 different cables and when i had the luck of the pc finally recognising it, it says that the driver couldn't be installed. When i click on details, it says "unknown device" (but my phone is perfectly operational, i've had this kind of problem before with that unknown device thing, but it was with soft/hard bricked phones).
-I've installed Huawei drivers and still nothing works.
Neither my phone lets me hit the option to enable mass storage mode nor the computer makes a single sound when the device is connected, the phone does charge, but nothing more than that.

Maybe check system settings within phone. There should be an option to enable media sharing via USB. Or be sure you've installed correct drivers. On Windows I assume.
