[Q] Google Earth - Galaxy 3 Themes and Apps

Hello people, just a quick question, can we install google earth on this phone? A search in the market doesn't find it, and trying to install it manually does nothing, so is it incompatible or something? That's pretty poor if that is the case, but if you pay peanuts I guess. Cheers.
I5801 Latest Froyo FW from samfirmware, rooted.

Hi,
Google Earth, like Flash Player 10, requires ARMv7 CPU. Unfortunately our phone only has ARMv6.

Doh! That's a bit of a bummer, but I don't suppose it's that big a deal really, at least it does do maps and navigation.
Thanks for the clarification matey, it has saved me from re-flashing, and re-rooting, as I was sure I'd broken it somehow!

I am disappointed that it doesnt work on our g3. That was one of things I wanted to try

Try google maps with layers -satellites
It what i think ure looking for

[Q] stupid android market

Hello. I had a game from internet called the world of magic 1.1.0 and it worked perfectly on my glaxy 5 i5500 and now they updated it on android market and i cant download it anymore cause now it sais it wont work but it does. Most of the games work on android market that it sais it wont. So Im begging for help or advice what to do cause the game is my favourite. (i hate android market) I think it should be free to download any free game you want and see if it works or not or have the warning that it might not work and you can still download it. What should i do, cause i cant find the 1.1.1 update on google only 1.1.0. It's a free app too so no one has posted it anywhere. I was wondering that maybe Some of you could do the hassle and get me the apk of The World Of Magic 1.1.1 update. or should I somehow contact the game owners? which will take longer i think
I thought you can pay for it and if you change your mind, you have 15 minutes to uninstall to get a refund?
its a free game.. so what refund could i get? XD
Its not the market, on app upload the dev can specify a minimum DPI(ldpi, mdpi or hdpi) to install, so blame the dev.
Sent from... somewhere...
it really does suck. cause i contacted the game devs. they didnt even aprove my post on their forums. Stupid i tell you ... Its like this with most of the games. The games run on my phone but it sais its not compadible i think its cause i have small phone (galaxy 5 i5500)
I've tried rooting the phone or whatever but none of the rooting things work for me. Anyways i read somewhere when you root your phone you can change the name of ur phone so it would say something else for the phone name on the android market.
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
The market looks at your dpi in build.prop, which governs the scale of the UI, so putting it above the default is a very bad idea, I tried it once take it from me.
Yes you require root for it though, possibly s-off

Well thats all stupid -.- im starting to hate the fact that I have decent phone and Im not able to download and try apps. The market thing is a fraud people should be able to download whether it works or not and just test themselves.

Wipe data and cache of market app. Then search the game, select it, and while its loading the page the download button is visible, so click it and there you go Well, please be aware that you won't receive any notification for available updates!
I've got the same problem all the time as the default dpi is way to high and makes the whole phone unusable in my opinion

How to you prevent google play upgrade?

I have the apk for the 3.4.4 market. I froze the market updater but when I install the Market apk within 5 minutes it updates to play. Is there a way to prevent the upgrade?
What's the big deal with preventing the update? Looks like exactly the same market with a name change to me. Just wondering what I'm missing and in no way trying to be a jerk.

You dont want to stop the update because if you do, you will not be able to get apps or update current apps with the old market.
Anything else that relies on the newer market will fail as well. I doubt you could stop it anyway..
Install an older version of the Market and use Titanium Backup to freeze the Market Updater...but there's no good reason to not update.
The new market is great! LOL, it is pretty much the same. The only difference if you have a tablet and that allowed you to purches music through the app. Again looks pretty much the same. New name

personally the name change is annoying as all hell, google quit trying to program your brand name in my brain, when i want to buy and app or something i want to go to the market or to the store, not go to the google and pick up a new app.
every-time i'm in a rush trying to pull something from the app market i can't find the bloody icon because i'm looking for the market or in the old location on my app drawer, minor change i know but i have caught myself cussing at google when i needed to re-d/l my gps app after it crashed during a trip i as on a few days ago.
any chance of renaming the new app back to market without root?
Just use a launcher and if already do, just change the name duh..lol that's what I did ....

I also would like to learn how to get around using Play. The new terms seem to allow Google to read my sms messages and record the message routing. I don't think my correspondents would appreciate having their thoughts being part of Google's repertoire.

What conspiracy theorist cooked that up?
The only way to get around using Google Play is to not use android. What you're asking is the equivalent of saying you want to use an iDevice without the app store.

Looks like Ill be going back to a simple phone as I agree with the previous poster... Google is requiring a full disclosure of everything you do. Not just GPS tracking...

You can download apps from other sites like blackmart

Memory needs > any update
I have a very good reason for not wanting auto-upgrades. Radio Shack misled me about the HTC Wildfire S and now I've got jack for memory. I have four apps installed, use only the native message app, and I'm lucky to have 25mb free. Anything less than that and the phone works as well as the Pony Express does today.
FWIW, Tandybot told me I could always install apps on the SD card. In theory, yes, but so few app devs code apps to work in that manner. Lesson learned.
kite edit: SNIP! No need for that kind of attitude around here, I'm afraid.

That might be a difficult one to track down. Have you tried installing it from the web play store instead of from your device? Sometimes that works for some reason.

Ye tried that put had no joy
I've attached it to this post, not sure if its the latest version but its one I extracted from a phone running GB for my girlfriend after she had the same problem with it saying it wasn't compatible on her Nexus S with ICS.
Thank you
I recommend caution when installing these kind of apps from apks found on the web; there is always the chance that they have been modded to steal your banking info, so what I'd suggest for further updates is to try some kind of market enabler app rather than go online searching for it.
Don't say that i've already installed it you know when you download a app from the play store does it store it anywhere on your phone first
Hi guys, really appreciate the work you guys are doing, this is actually my first post, feel kinda bad that it's only because I want something. So apologies for that.
I currently have the RBS banking app installed on my Galaxy Nexus. However it has recently been updated to allow users to make cardless atm withdrawals. Probably because I have a rooted device google are not letting me update to that version.
I would be quite happy to make a donation if someone would post it for me, many thanks in advance.
Am I the only one here that know **** what going on here?

I too would really appreciate it if someone could post the latest app, or suggest a way to fool the market into thinking I'm running a different android version.

[SOLUTION] Google Now slow loading issue solved

Hey all, I know a lot of you were complaining about how slow Google Now is when you open it, and I actually found how to speed it up quite a bit. First, load up Google Now and go into Settings > Voice > Hotword detection and uncheck it. I guess if it doesn't have to 'listen' for you to say Google it will initialize MUCH faster. Hope this helped.
Cool...
Dramatically faster...
Not that i like to use it,,, but i do accidently hit it a lot,,, ,,, so now i can at least exit out faster!

This helps even when Now is turned off. I never use it, just regular Google search, and even that started really slow. But if u uncheck the hotword box, it makes regular search load faster too. Thx yo!!

Well that was a helpful tip! Thanks!
EDIT: Also, I've noticed that unchecking the "block offensive words" box makes text entry within Google Now less laggy.
EDIT2: Nevermind, I think that was just a placebo effect.
Thanks a lot for this

When i install apps from computer its not installing in mobile but installing when i install through phone.. Now how to resolve this problem.??
Thanks !!! helped the loading a lot
I don't use Google Now but this was a very helpful tip. Always up for extra speed even if its just a little bit
Thank you so much for this. I disabled Google Now for a while because of how laggy it was. Who knew it was because of one simple check -_-
Thanks
I was afraid I'd have to disable Google Now, but when I made the suggested change, my free memory went from 20mb to 120mb and so far the phone is back to its old speed.
:fingers-crossed:

Mine does the same thing. After it updated to Jellybean it appears as a different phone to the Google play Store (this is according to Google Support). If this is what has happened to you, when you go to install from the computer you should be able to pick from a couple of different phones both with the same name over where it says that the app is compatible with your phone. Even though it may show 2 phones and especially if it doesn't, the Play Store through the computer does not recognize your phone. If you use it from the phone it is connected and has no problem. Google informed me that they cannot delete any device from your account once it is there. So when I got a warranty replacement I now have both listed under their different IMEIs. Then when you do a complete upgrade like JB, it no longer sees the phone. I don't know what it uses to find the phone, but whatever it is it cannot locate it after the update and thus you have to use the phone to do any install of an app from the Play Store.
Now I can't say this is your problem, but this is what happened to me and I talked to Google Support to find out everything I have told you. Maybe one day they will take into account major updates and make it so that they can locate your phone for an install when using the computer. Until then I have to use the phone to install anything.

[Q] Internet browser not prompting for video player - Kitkat 4.4.2

Hello everyone,
I'm coming from a Galaxy S2 running ICS. When I would click to play a video from the default internet browser, I would get prompted for the video player. I'm assuming that it has something to do with flash compatibility? In any case, I really liked this behavior since I could choose MX player (stream) or Internet (download). This was very handy and I would love to be able to have that functionality on my new device.
I'm now using a Galaxy S4 running KitKat 4.4.2 and it seems that all videos play inline and I can't choose any other apps. Is there a way to get that functionality back?
Thanks for any insight you may have!
Nope. Android killed all flash plug-ins and apps are now made to play videos inline. Not to mention the option to download was breaking alot of rules.

Say it aint so!! Should this have been working in ICS? I'm wondering because if it's been disabled since before ICS, maybe I can still find a way around this...?

You might be able to get around this by using outdated apks from before they started using the inbuilt browsers but be warned that if you download the videos google has the right to term you account. Other then that there is nothing you can do. Flash has been dead for a long time now.
