Little important tips for using App2SD - XPERIA X8 Android Development

Most of you guys are having your phone installed App2SD with no complaint at all, but i know more of you are clueless about how to get it work without your phone having to reboot or something like that which kinda irritating (at least for me)
In my country lots of X8 users are assuming that Transcend's class6 MicroSDHC aren't compatible with App2SD script but mine are working smoothly.
Here is what i got for you to have more stable X8 with App2SD installed.
I suggest you better have a fresh installed X8 firmware.
Install all your widget and application which have something to do with your system such as ATK, Juice Defender, APNdroid, Fancy Widget, SiMiclock and so on, and so on.
After all your system related app and widget are ready to use, restart your phone and make all preferences fixed (set all your app & widget setting according to your need)
Now you are ready to put App2SD in your phone
I try to figure how to make my phone stable for about 2 weeks before i found this trick, now i got beautiful X8 running smoothly.
Hope this help you readers a bit and bring your wide smile to your face again.
Cheers.
(sorry if i didn't post this at the right thread, i'm a newbie here thank you)

SE firmware is unstable.
I have used 250 mb of app on sdcard and phone starts restart but on htc legend firmware all is ok.

just like i expected but by doing this method i noticed fairly improvement in term of stability rather than installing system app and widget in the sdcard by app2sd.

I can use APP2SD on a Transcend 8GB class 6 with 1.4GB size... The only thing which is bad is: After every installation my phone doesn't do anything - it freezes for 5-8seconds...

i am using transcend 8gb with 1.32gb partition for app2sd (moves dalvik cache method).
it starts nicely, but after awhile when about 1.14 gb left at my a2sd space, a strange thing happened. whenever i installed new apps, the internal memory starts decreasing rapidly while a2sd space remained. it seems like apps stop installing at sd card. now i'm left with 102 mb internal memory and 1.11gb a2sd.
anyone else noticing this problem?

I think the kernel dont support swap partition...
a2sd is the most stable app2sd i think...
just move app&dalvik-cache...

I had installed apps2sd. Now I want to update my phone firmware...so what do I do now?
If I update my phone, root and install apps2sd, will I retain the same ext3 partition with the apps?
If not, can anyone guide me on what to do.

I've tried about 5 times flashing firmware with app2sd. After flashing, your apps in sdcard ext partition won't load, but after app2sd installed, your apps will come back.
Just make sure to delete all files in dalvik-cache before flashing.

i have app2sd free version..i do not hav darktremor app2sd!!
wat is darktremor app2sd n where can i find it...is dere neway i can move the phone apps to sd manually...???!
using those versions from the market u will be able to move only some app that can be moved
meaning that not all apps can be moved to sd (also it's not recomended to move all of them because some will not work right if moved to sd)
darktremor app2sd is a script that uses a partition on the sd and it alows moving all of the apps to that partition
this script is used by many custom roms
Where can i get darktremor app2sd?
look up link2SD on the market it should solve your problems

[Q]ext3/4,fat32......

Hello to everyone. i want to ask some questions about ext3/4 fat32 app2sd and so on. i am using a gb custom rom on my mini and i use the app2sd app from the market. i partition my sd with fat and ext4. i also know that we can move apps in fat without having any partition (correct me if i am wrong). the question is what i earn by partitioning my sd to ext3/4? do i get some extra performance?
also i mention that in cyanogenmod settings there is an option where we can select it and says ''allow moving apps to external storage'' what exactly these option do?
thank you and sorry for the bad english.
ext4 is the newest format, but it`s not compatible with all roms, fat32 otherwise is compatible with all roms.(no errors) some costum roms have the app to sd integrated, so you don`t have to install the app, you should find this in the changelog of the rom. i hope i could answer some questions
it's not exactly what i want to know but honestly thank you for the answer
I`m sorry to hear that
I found this very interesting thread about ext3/4 an fat 32:

[MOD] Make Your Clock Panel In The Centre Of Statusbar

First of all,i found how to do this from other forum i read from Internett, all i have to do is translate it to English
All credits are for they who invented this, just do the easy way,i wont make you confused by showing any .xml editing blablabla
So just follow these.. ^^
All u need is :
1.SystemUI.apk [from /system/app/]
2.WinRAR / 7ZIP
3.ADB / Root Explorer
4.Edited status_bar.xml donload it herehttp://dl.dropbox.com/u/27398026/Others/CenteredClock_status_bar.rar
Steps: Download status_bar.xml (edited), and extract.
1.Pull SystemUI.apk from / system / app / in the internal memory, copy to sdcard, then copy to your PC.
2.Open SystemUI.apk using WinRAR, go to the folder \ res \ layout \.
3.Drag n drop status_bar.xml who have downloaded earlier into the SystemUI.apk already opened earlier.
4.Close WinRAR (or 7ZIP), SystemUI.apk is ready to be injected to ur phone via root explorer or adb, whichever u like, keep in mind that set permission to rw-r--r--
See Attachment below, its the result, the clock is in the middle of the statusbar. And dont mind the launcher,i use modded launcher to make it looks like that. And your statusbar icons will NOT changed like mine.
Do it with your own risk,I am not responsible if it bricked your phone, tested by me and worked just fine
Press THANKS Please
no screenshoot?
will try it soon..
thanks mate..
Will put some SS soon, low inet connection
Edit : SS added on first post
No One use this?
i did
can you make the status bar move in the bottom
U mean the statusbar at the footer?
I think its not possible :O
But maybe someone can port it to us
It's nice, but maybe cause conflict if we have too mucho notifications?? sometimes i get an email, face, twitter, whatsapp and with the clock in the centre maybe looks bad...

Help needed with a2sd

Okie guys...here i come to final thing that i wud love to do on my ace. Probably i ll rest fir few months after that.
I flashed back dxkt5 2.3.6 today.
Installed cf-root b84
Lagfree v2
Converted filesystems to ext4
I am using link2sd app for now with ext4 partition on my sd card.
I heard thar dt a2sd is better than link2sd as it allows to move data as well to sd card. Hence, am planning to enable it as it comes with cf root.
Can anybody plz guide me how to do it with minimal efforts.
By minimal efforts i mean..without having to re install my apps.
If thats unavoidable i m ok with it. But please guide me how to proceed with it.
I am a neebie and hv been trying to understand the things one by one..and i feel this is the last thing which remain untouched by me.
Plz plz help me guys...i promise i wont trouble u after that..if somebody says try google...i hv already done that...but i couldn't make sense out of it...may be because i am a girl. ;-)
Please help.
Thanks.

put in sdcard
boot into recovery
mount system and data from recovery
flash the script
get A2SDGUI from market
open A2SDGUI and the rest is on u. its easy enough for u understand. and good luck with it

Dta2sd sucks for me. I had used before. 1 main problem i found ws dat it used to mess up my ext partition. Means, like whenever i tried to install an app, my fone would reboot.

dont listen to opinions. see my sig below?
opinions wasnt always true and it wasnt a fact. it usually based on personal experience, and your experience might be different than others.

You can increase you internal by moving all apps (On SD or On Internal Memory) to the second partition on SD card which should be ext2.. And yes "Link2SD" is working very well with me on ICS.. You don't need to unlock your bootloader for such an action.. Use ext2.. X-Parts and recovery is not related to anything of what you will do so don't worry.. I believe that Link2SD is a very good tool.. Use it
I wish I helped you
