Overclocking? - Sony Ericsson XPERIA X10 Mini

Can this phone be overclocked to a stable phone?

stable probz yes
possible no!
we need a custom kernel for overclocking so the bootloader needs to be cracked first

So is there any lag on this phone after flashing custom roms? I'm wondering if the 600mhz is enough.

Well if you want to OC then you need a custom kernel... Other then that 200/1000 (W/O Custom Kernel) 200/1200 (W/ Custom Kernel)
And DONT click "Set On Boot"
if you don't care about the battery drain, I cranked mine up to 1000mhz constant or use conservative. powersave is incredibly slow.

Honestly Set CPU is not nessisary because the Galaxy S CPU scales automatically in other words if you need 1ghz it gives you it, but if you need 800mhz it only gives you that etc...That being said if you want to underclock the best speed it 800mhz and if you want to overclock you should go to 1200mhz (1.2ghz). To overclock you will need a custom kernel.

Why don't you want to set it on boot? Does this mean you have to reset when you boot?

[Q] Non OC kernel for the endv2.5

I recently installed the endv2.5 rom and it was oc so was a bit nervous about it as i know it can damage the phone. I have a wuestion and a request.
First, What are the dangers of oc your phone and has any of them happened to you (are they common)?
Last, can anybody post a link to where i can find a non oc kernel for the endv2.5 rom?
Thanks
as far as I know only CM7 Kang by vo-1 is the only one that has a non-oc kernel.(if i remember right)
aaand ATM there is NO STABLE OC KERNEL so it can fry your motherboard, brick it beyond repair, and with taking the risk of OC-ing u changed to custom and custom rom pones are warranty voided so pretty much your ace will be killed at high frequencies. (stupid samsung OC'ed ace's processor but wont let us OC it >.<)
ok so dont oc the phone lol i dont see why dev's oc them if its do dangerous.
Where can i get a Kerenl to flash that is not oc'ed.
There are a list of kernel's here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1439516) but not sure which one to use?
Flash the zImage-Mod v1.0 (1.0 is better then 1.1).
where is the zimage and what does it consist of
just had a read of it and seems good.
It is non oc ye?
and are there any bugs or problems with the v1.0 kernel?
No bugs, works perfectly, should work on all CM based rom's, and it doesn't have OC.
im kinda nervous to do this lol
if it doesn't work can i just simply reflash the rom am i using and the kernel will be restored?
and how do i open govenors?

[Q] newbie questions about rom + kernel and overclock

Hi
I like this rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1423058
And this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1398910
1st question
Are they compatible ?
First i will install rom with recovery then flash kernel with flash tool .. Is that right ?
I am afraid to brick my phone help me plzz pro users
2nd question what can i do with overclock ..another thing like increase cpu speed and is that dangerous?
3rd question at kernel i read that i can make my cpu 1.8 ghz and in rom i read that i can make cpu 1.4 .. My official cpu is 1 ghz how it can be like that
I always read that doing that will brick my phone(hardware) or decrease cpu life
I am afraid to do that .. Some users crash their phones with that and others r relaxing ..
Help me plzz tell me the risks and how to ignore ..
Waiting for ur answers and sorry for stupid questions and bad English

If you install the Gingerbread, Android 2.3.X version of the kernel and this ROM, then it will be compatible.

No, on stock ROM you won't have Recovery, so first unlock bootloader, then flash kernel and then enter Recovery.
Recovery is included in the kernel.

CPU works at certain rate of pulses, the amount is called clock. By default, a CPU works at 1 GHz, that means 1 billion pulses per second(comparison, human heart about once per second).
Overclocking means making the CPU work at higher rate. When CPU works at higher rate, it gives out more heat, which can be dangerous to the CPU. If it gets too hot, it might just melt itself or another parts of the mainboard in your phone. That's how phones get f**ked up

You can set your CPU clock yourself. Depending on kernel, it can be max 2 Ghz or 1.8 or whatever. You can choose any amount between 0 and that max. By default, on stock phones, CPU works at 1. By using a specific app and custom kernel, CPU will be told to work at higher rate. Result, read the text above.

Yes, correct. Overclocking does decrease the life time, uses more battery and is quite dangerous. The real speed boost is actually small and is not really worth it.
Overclocking is not obligatory, you can do it if you want, but you don't have to. I highly recommend not to overclock your phone.
1) I don't know. Check or ask in the ROM's thread.
If your bootloader is unlocked, install the proper kernel and then flash the ROM from recovery.
2) Overclocking is always dangerous. Not only if you overclock to 1,8 Ghz. Also 1,2 could damage your phone. I'd suggest you not to overclock, but it's up to you.

I think i will not overclock my phone .. When i finish installing rom and kernel my cpu will not be overclocked right?
Because i read there is over clock in both
Don't worry... there's the possibility to overclock, but only if you want to

Common misconception.
Knowledge about hardware + careful steps = safe overclocking.
Anyway, I dont get the idea of OC'ing smartphones.

you cant overclock without a custom kernel.
you cant have a custom kernel with locked bootloader.
therefore, you cant overclock your phone.
sorry

No such thing. Each and every cpu is different so u need to experiment yourself. But seeing the msm8255t in arc s which is the factory oc'ed of our msm8255 running at 1.4ghz by default, i'd say 1.4ghz is the "safe" mark.

SetCPU on S3 stuck at 1400mhz

Im using Omega Rom v23 and i just installed SetCPU.
Can someone explain how i go above 1400mhz? it wont let me choose a speed higher?

You need custom kernel. But dont have any custom kernel to work with JB what you can overclock.
Enviado do meu GT-I9300
use an o/c kernel.....no I won't suggest one
Go to development and read
As far as im aware omega 23 is custom stock rom. JB ect.
to unlock overclocking you would need a a new boot.img withunlocked overclocking
that wont be out for JB roms until the source is released.
You would have to install a earlier rom if you want to use a costom boot.img with unlock overclock.

What Kernel does that ROM come with? Is it the STOCK kernel? If so, you CANNOT overclock the STOCK kernel at all and can only overclock CUSTOM Kernels that have that ability built into them.
More info from you is needed...
It seems the JB Rom from Omega doesnt have this overclocking unlocked

there won't be any o/c kernels until Samsung release their source code after jb official release
