[Q] My LG P500 "silent" every 2 days! Why??? - Optimus One, P500, V General

Dear all,
I've used my LG P500 for 1 month. The 1st 3 weeks was okay. The past 7-8 days an error occurs. Every 2 days my phone automatically turns on Silent mode (with vibration) and does not accept mp3 files in sdcard as ringtone. The Sound mode is only active if I pick the phone's stock/original ringtones. Everything is okay if the phone is restarted, but after 2 days it becomes Silent again!
What happened with my phone? How to fix this?

Do you use any app similar to Tasker ?

You meant task killer? I use Advance Task Killer, but not set auto-kill. Can one of the installed app conflict with the Sound setting?

No,no. Tasker is an app that allows you to set your phone to do anything at anytime, anywhere. It is a very complex piece of software.
The first thing that comes into my mind is to do a soft reset.

It happened that I found out the reason! Today my fone became Silent again. Then I uninstalled PowerAMP. After that, the fone turned on Sound mode. I'll wait for another 2 days to confirm if P.AMP conflicts with the sound setting. So strange!

I use poweramp and I don't experience this.
Glad you solved it !

It's useless This time it became Silent (with vibrate) after only 1 day! Maybe there is a problem with my rom or a conflict between 2 else apps. Hix!
BTW, I rooted the fone and remove some default apps (Music, Map, Dual clock...) of the stock rom, and then unrooted the fone, will I be able to perform a hard reset to regain the stock rom now? Or I have to root again and flash the stock rom?

Anyone help me with this?

I don't know, but u cann try

Just reflash the rom that you are currently using

I flashed void yesterday, and this morning my fone has the above problem again!!! It seems that rom upgrade cannot help
Might there be any error with the fone's hardware? Or with the sd card? Besides, I still can execute apps, play music, read prc, pdf... on sdcard as usual.

I think its a certain app you keep using that is enabling the 'silent mode'. Try it for a few days with just a newly flashed and basics, like sapps, gapps applications and see if it still changes.

i think u are installing a buggy app,
try using the phone for 2 days without installing any app after fresh reflash.

I flashed the orginal rom this morning with no additional apps installed. It's still ok by now. Will wait for 1 more day b4 changing to a custom rom. The stock one is so laggy.

u can find the culprit(buggy app) by trial and error method and move it to recycle bin for good

been using void delta for 2 days without errors. Glad that it's not hardware problem ^_^
seems that one of the app I used enabled the Silent mode.

Hero says headphones are connected, but they aren't

Hey guys,
My Hero says the headphones are connected but they aren't connected!? This is very annoying when I want to call someone, then I have to use the headphones because otherwise I can't listen what the persons I'm calling to says. So the speakers are disabled (can still play music through headphones).
I also see the headphones icon in the Android bar.
I tried another ROM but it's giving the same problem (Android 2.1 stock, 2.2 Floyo, FV 1.5, etc.)
How can I solve this?
As far as i know this is not a rom specific problem, more of a software thing. It happens if you restart your phone too much (its how i get it). Three ways to solve problem
1. turn off your phone and wait at least 2 minutes before turning back on and it shud be gone
2. download toggleheadset.apk and it will no longer matter how much you restart your phone since u can toggle the icon off/on
3. least practical on long term and takes a while but works, poke a headphone in and move around until icon disappears
I get this problem all the time, and it seems like a lot of other hero users get it as well, i solved it using toggleheadset
Thanks for your message. I tried all these methods but they don't work
When I install Headset Blocker, I can still see the icon in the black HTC Android bar. The other two methods also don't work.
Haha! Yeah, it works!
I installed toggleheadset.apk but I didn't notice it's a widget and not an app.
So now it works and I can use my speakers again.
Thank you very much!

[Q] Galaxy s2 auto restart problem

I have a uk set gs2. The problem nw is it at times it automatically restarts. It happens maybe 2 times a day. Or less. But it bothers me. Wonder
What could have causes it? I have rooted it with kernel from chainfire. KE7. Installed rooted apps like adfree, density changer and market enabler. No task killer. Any help from this? Appreciate it. Thanks!
This was happening with me as well after i installed No Lock. Removed it and it never restarted since.
I have the same problem. My SGS2 reboots frequently, especially(mainly) when I am using the default music player.
I have a stock SGS2, no root or taskkiller.
I do have last.FM running also.
The reboots are really random and not related to the amount of free RAM (there is usually a lot).
Another thing i want to add is that the reboots are really quick, does not seem to occur like the normal (re)boot process.
I had the same problem. The music player shuts down after awhile. But the reboot was a quick one. I use screen off and lock. I didnt use no lock though
Yes! This happens to me aswell. I can recreate this using default music player. When I play my quick list it reboots...well the reboot takes like 5secs? Blazing fast but still it is an issue. I have stock ke7 too with cf's root kernel. I didn't stay on ke7 wothout root for a long time so can't know for sure if that's the problem.

Same here guys .With xwke7 something goes wrong with the stock music player.Very fast reboot.SAMMY?>?????
my reboot is probably even faster than 5 seconds...
when i listen to a podcast on the default music player it suddenly stops and instantly plays the tone it plays when the phone starts and when i unlock the screen everything is booted up already, so i dont know if it even is a real reboot or just some reinitialization or stuff... i gotta check if it happens with other mp3 players too.

I can't say that I know exactly what the difference is, but for me, I see the SIMM PIN entry screen, meaning that if a "reboot" goes unnoticed, my phone ain't a phone because it's off the network until I get my PIN entered.
I seem to have the same problem.
This has happened since the day I got it (original firmware KE1) and have also tried updating it too (KE7)
I have noticed this especially when the music player is running.
Another thing I have noticed is that if its in my pocket (with no force being applied to it) it happens more frequently than if I have it in my hand.
Yeah I have the same problem. But I only ever notice it when I'm running the stock music player.
I believe it happens when these happen at the same time:
1) the stock music player is being used
2) the phone is vertical (like in your pants or chest pocket) - this one I am the least sure about
3) there is a change in GSM/3G/4G signal, even if the phone is in airplane mode
sounds crazy, but these are the circumstances I get it under, at least two times in the day.
I only experienced one sudden reboot in 2 weeks. I'm on stock KE5, no root. It happened when i was switching off/on the screen and unlocking the phone too fast using WidgetLocker. The weird part was the reboot was blazing fast, the boot animation for a second or two and then phone went to main screen instantly.
Same story here, KE7, when playing music player it restarts randomly.
I have this firmware for 3 weeks and it just started doing this this week. Happened 2 times in the last 2 days and got me worried that.it is hardware related.
hi
i am having the same problem, only happened a couple of times like explained here, in music player it will randomly reboot. i am on ke7 with cf-root
i had one yesterday though, phone was on my desk not using it at all, only push email active, nothing else running and i just heard a sound from it, looked and it had gone into "Safe Mode" (said bottom left of the screen), also some of my widgets had disappeared and needing readding, and also pretty much everything from my folders in applications had jumped out and gone into the default applications pages (about 30 of them!)
anyone had this problem before?
it was posted in the KE7 release thread and confirmed to be an issue even with poweramp as well as the stock music player. I'm currently on KE2 without a single issue with the audio player and i had to revert back to KE2 from KE7 because of this issue

Actually I loved my old sgsII (apart from screen which is why I replaced)
KE2 Was awesome. More wallpapers and etcs. I might do the same if the randon odd reboot stops.

As of today my music player is unusable. It stops/pauses music every couple of seconds now, I hope they will release new firmware soon :.
Here is one for you, after thorough tests I have come to conclusion, that random restarts are happening when using wired headset, phone does not restart when using loudspeaker or bluetooth headset...

yeah you are right, i have the pin security enabled too, so this cant be a full reboot, since i would have to re-enter the pin code ... so its probably just a restart of some component (touchwiz?)
and yes it did only happen when i used the stock music player in combination with a wired head set ... right now i use poweramp and did not have this problem anymore

[Q] Volume gets low once in a while

Hi all, the matter is very simple, I have been running my Galaxy S2 perfectly for months without any problem, but recently, once in a few days, my volume gets twice lower than normal, I mean all kinds of sound ringtone, notification sound, alarm etc. I checked in settings and other volume apps but their volume bars remain unchanged, the only way is fix it (as I know now) is to clear all the cache and restart the phone, but I don't want to do that 'cause it will come back in a few days without any sign and clearing cache means I will lost some apps' history
Anyone has any clue or suffered from the same problem? 'cause I totally don't know why it's like that ???
Are you using any flip to silence software? I had a similar problem when I had Flip installed.

Automatically goes to silent mode

Why is my S3 automatically going to Silent mode ?
Many times when I unlock I see that it is in silent mode. Sometimes after about 10 secs of unlcoking it could see it back in unsilent mode.
Any help if I need to change some setting ?
Any help with this ?
Did someone had the same issue or any solution for this ?
My phone actually goes to silent mode automatically. I had experienced it while browsing on the phone as well. It vibrates and goes to Silent mode. I had seen it come back to Sound mode after few mins (approx 10 mins).

I can almost bet that this is because of some rogue app that you have installed from market. Can you relook at what all is installed?

I remember seeing the issue from 1st or 2nd day of owning the phone. I installed Angry birds, VLC direct pro,Viber,WhatsApp,Skype,AVG antivirus,Waze,Dropbox on the 1st day.
I am also facing the same issue on my S2 and don't know how to fix this. Did you find anything for this problem?

+1 to some app do that? If not, do hard reset...
Uninstalled few apps. Still no luck Trying...
Also have same problem
I too have the same problem and have tried uninstalling the most recent apps to no avail. There seems to be no logic to when it happens - it is not all the time, but sometimes it will just start doing it. Sometimes restarting the phone cures it for a while, sometimes not.
Very frustrated.

Ringtone Reverts to "Silent"

Hey all,
A few days ago, I noticed my phone was only vibrating during incoming calls. I checked the Ringtone section in the sound settings and found that the selected "Tone" was "Silent."
I've tried changing the ringtone to various different sounds, but it continues to revert back to silent. The ringer, itself, ISN'T on silent. It's just the ringtone that seems to get changed somehow.
Anyone else encounter this issue and know how to get it resolved?
Thanks in advance for your help.
Are you trying to set it to one of the built-in ringtones, or a custom one you added? If it's a custom one, is it on the SD card? I've had problems in the past with phones "losing" ringtones that were installed on the SD card, rather than internal memory.

I thought you might be on to something there, so I made sure that all of my ringtones and notifications were copied to internal storage and deleted all sounds from my SD card.
I rebooted, setup my sounds again, and had my wife call me a few times over a period of about 2 hours. Rang every time.
Then, just now, I noticed I had 3 missed calls from clients. NOT good. Checked the ringtone settings and it was back to "Silent" again! Infuriating.
It's not the location of the file. And, now that I think about it, if it HAD been the issue, I would've been experiencing loss of notification tones in all of my other apps too.
This problem has seemingly arisen out of nowhere. The ringer worked perfectly fine during the first few weeks I've had the S9+. It just started doing this to me a couple of days ago. I'd really rather not go through the annoyance of a hard reset...
Damn it, this is getting REALLY annoying
HaaaaLP MEEEEEH!
I'm having the same issue on my Samsung Note 8. Began happening after the device received the Android 8.0 update. I've tried everything and it seems to happen completely randomly. HELP!
Mine is working fine. I have mine on the internal storage in the Ringtones folder /0/Ringtones/ it's an mp3 less than 2MB in size. Not that I know any of that makes any difference.

I hated doing it, but I just performed a factory reset. Been setting up my phone again for hours and I'm not yet done.
So far, it's ringing, but I'm going to be really disappointed if it reverts to silent again. I'll keep you posted.

Tried that too. It worked for a while then randomly went to silent again. It will stay on the ringtone I set for sometimes as long as a day, but eventually it reverts to silent.

So far so good. I've had 7 incoming calls and the ringtone I've selected has stayed in place. For me, before the reset, it would revert to "Silent" after the 2nd call. Fingers crossed.
Same exact thing is happening to me on my HTC U11.
It started happening right away after a full wipe and install of Bad Boyz ROM (Android 8.0). No one else in that ROM thread seems affected.
I have tried just picking a built in ring tone too, and that will also revert. Sometimes it happens within a few minutes, sometimes it takes hours.

That is exactly what happens to me. Custom ringtones make no difference. I've assigned rintones to all my important contacts and those ring through no matter if on silent mode or not. Like you, sometimes it stays put for hours and other times it changes back after a few minutes. Rebooting seems to help it last longer, but I find myself checking my phone all the time to be sure it hasn't gone to silent ringtone. Frustrating!

I don't believe anyone is *blaming* Samsung although the thread did begin in a Samsung forum. We're just trying to find out why our phones are behaving badly and hoping to find a way to fix a really frustrating problem. Do you have a suggestion on where we might look?
Well, I think it's safe to say that the hard reset did the trick. Ringtone is sticking now. Hooray.

Glad to hear this seems to be working, but not glad that the answer is factory reset. I really, really don't want to go through that. I think I'll suffer along a bit longer and see if someone comes up with a work around or perhaps an app that can lock the ringtone. One can hope.

Yeah, it was a bit of a pain in the a$$, but worth it. Reset definitely did the trick.
I have the same problem on my S9+ since the last update. the basic sound settings revert to Silent as do custom settings. Has anyone contacted Samsung to dee what their excuse is?
Hi Folks, I've been having the same issue since 3 weeks ago. Called Samsung and was told to delete my customized settings. That DID NOT WORK. Finally a Fix. I wipe my cache partition and it worked.
Turn off your phone. Turn it on while holding Power, Bixby, and Vol. Up buttons until you get the menu. Use volume down to get to Wipe Cache Partition (NOT wipe Personal data/factory reset.) Press PWR to accept.
This does not erase anything and it's worked problem free for about a week. I read in other forums that changing the SIM has fixed this issue, but changing your SIM will clear the Cache as well.
Hope this works for you.
The solution is to quickly remove the old ringtone and replace the new ringtone for the phone
