Does anyone know which ROM does Bluetooth DUN. I want to tether my G-Tab with my Blackberry over bluetooth.
I installed the TnT Lite 4.2.0, there is no bluetooth DUN support.

i can do this already with my Nokia N810. i figured it would be possible with Android.

If there's a way to tether in Vegan, I don't know what it is. I cant get vegan to acknowledge that my Droid X exists (other than BlueGPS), even though I tether on my laptop with it (the X) all the time.
All I ever get with the X is 'paired but not connected'. Bluetooth GPS with ShareGPS/BlueGPS works fine though...

Me too. Then you need Bluetooth DUN to create a bridge after you paired G-tab and blackberry phone.

If your Droid X is rooted then you can use wifi tethering.
BlueDUN bluetooth tethering / bridge
If you have a device [GPS navi / tablet / notebook] that requires a dial up network (DUN) connection, now you can use an Android phones installing the BlueDUN app (search it on G.Play). It creates a bridge between the bluetooth connection and the wifi/mobile interface.

Before I buy a G-tablet, one of my major requirement is to be able to tether via my WM6.1 phones (htc mogul and htc 8525).
The 3 options from the WM phones are 1) built-in DUN USB 2) built-in DUN BT 3) WMwifirouter.
I've been digging through the xda forums and it seems like there are no standard ways to use any of these 3 options.
Specifically:
For USB method, android does not have the required drivers.
For BT method, android does not have a built-in BT tether profile.
For wifirouter, android does not allow ad-hoc wifi connections.
There are some work around threads, like for ad-hoc wifi tether the kyros tablet is doing this with limited success:

btw, its a bit difficult searching for this because most threads are about tether FROM an android device. In this case, we need to tether TO an android device.
I tether with wmwifirouter without problems using a touch pro 2 on sprint.
The G tablet will connect via ad-hoc with an easy fix, if you do a search on the forums there's an update zip you can apply to stock to enable it, or all the custom ROM's have the ability built in. I use mine daily running on my Droid 1 using wireless tether.
I am running stock 3389 with the gapps enhancement, and once I rooted my work droid x and installed wifi tether, my gtab found it with no issues and connected to it once i set up the wep key. Now I have to see what Verizon is going to do if my account on our corporate account exceeds some sort of data limit since we are not paying them for the wifi tethering/high data rate for my one account. Others have been upgraded accordingly as need arises, so I guess I will see what happens.

PdaNet tethering on my jailbroken iPhone 3g works after I flashed VEGAn-TAB GINGEREDITION on my G tab. My G tab had no problem recognizing PdaNet on my iPhone. Woohoo!
I am also looking for a solution tethering my blackberry bold to gtab. I had tried several methods but no luck so far. We probably need BT tether profile for Gtab. Not sure if someone can porting Archos' BT profile to gtab.
Seems I need to set up the android phone to act as a wifi hotspot. I am using a Viewpoint gtab with Vegan 5.1. I am guessing the the gtab is ready to receive/interact, but the phone needs something.
I have DL easy-tether for the phone and it asks me to DL for the "computer" offering Windows, Mac, Unbuntu and Fedora.
If I have easy-tether on my andriod phone (Motorolo Atrexx), is that enough to establish a connection with the gtab? If so, how? If not, what do I need to do?
The phone has not been flashed with a new rom.
I'm on the verge of buying an archos 70 8GB IT, but I need a critical question answered first.
I'm planning on using this on my car, and would need to grab internet from my phone. I have an ATT captivate running a custom froyo rom. Now, there is an function on my phone to start a mobile AP through wifi (I believe it is the standard froyo feature and not some third party add-on).
Does this wifi hotspot not work with the archos? This would be a major dealbreaker as bluetooth is out of the question due to having to use a GPS to bluetooth adapter.
I've read a couple of forums up and down and no one seems to have answered this question completely. It seems that everyone has come to the conclusion that android does not have support for ad-hoc networks. I guess my questions lies more along the lines of whether the froyo mobile ap is an adhoc network.

I am using a ZTE Blade/San Francisco with a custom Froyo rom and I can wireless tether my Archos 70IT to my wireless hotspot.
I have a rooted HTC Incredible with stock froyo, and tether my A70 using Wireless Tether from the market. Works great. So does my bluetooth gps, by the way.
Not that this should change your plans, but the fact that you need Bluetooth for GPS doesn't necessarily eliminate using Bluetooth for tethering simultaneously.
I've done exactly that with a Blackberry Tour (for tethering) and a cheap-when-I-bought-it TomTom Bluetooth external GPS unit. I used this configuration to get Google Navigation working. FWIW, doing this actually drove me to get CoPilot, as I didn't want to be tethered all the time to do GPS navigation.

That's interesting, I was under the impression that you could only have one device paired at one time. This is good news as I was hoping to perhaps write a program that would allow me to use the archos as a bluetooth headset (to receive calls while in the car), but since I would already have been using it for GPS, I didn't think I could do that.
Regarding my original question, it appears the the froyo mobile AP feature does work in infrastructure mode, I made a hotspot and my friend's nexus one connected to it fine.

I tried to tether to my HTC HD2 with WM 6.5.3, but no success. WiFi hotspot is ad-hoc, Bluetooth and USB tethering simply doesn't work. I'm at a deadlock... Any ideas?
Doesn't the HD2 run android as well? You could switch to that.

I´m also in trouble with mobile 6.5 on Omnia i8000 and archos 101. No tethering via BT or USB. Seems to be a mobile 6.5 problem.
I tethered my archos via BT to an SE t630 without any problem.
But I need it for my maindevice Omnia ...

Could you link to an .APK file for download? On my rooted myTouch Slide with CM6, it just doesn't show up in the market.
I just got my A70 IT 250 gb, I am not able to use Wifi Tether from my Epic 4G. Rooted with Froyo.

Using the Mobile AP option is the settings menu? Or using some custom Sprint functionality. The Mobile AP one should work.
By the way, where did you buy your A70, I've been trying to buy one but its sold out everywhere.

Did you try CDW? I got one there about a week ago. I called and they sold one to me for $275.

Just wondering how did you root your A70? was it easy? I saw a post on XDA on how to root Archos Gen8, using SDE. I read thru it and got chicken out.

Wireless Tether is an app you run on your rooted android phone. It shares the phone's 3G/4G connection, which will show up as an available connection in your A70's wireless settings and allow you to access the internet with your tablet.
An adhoc network is used to allow the devices to communicate and share files with each other. I don't believe the A70 will connect using adhoc wifi.

Once you have Wireless Tether installed and opened on your rooted android phone, open up the settings. Change the SSID to something you will recognize. I would leave the encryption and access control off until you have it working. Then go back to the main screen and press to start tethering. Once it starts, open the wifi settings on your A70 and scan for devices. You should see your phone and be able to connect to it.
Once working, I recommend going back and setting the access control and encryption. You will have to set a passphrase in the phone for the encryption, then edit the connection on you tablet (long press) and add it to the settings. With access control enabled, you have to accept the connection on you phone the first time. Once you start tethering and your tablet tries to connect, hit menu->access control on the phone and accept the connection.
I've red that Android devices could connect to ad-hoc networks if you are able to make changes in config files via adb. Alas I can't do this on my 101

Dont see why not, but the only reason that came out was because the nook color had no bluetooth (at the time), which the gtab has.

Bluetooth tether to get gps from your phone or from bluetooth gps receiver.
Tethergps is a client/server app which sends gps data over 2 wifi tethered android devices. For example, I wifi tether my droid x to my nook color, and send gps info from droid x to nook color.
TetherGPS does not wok on VEGAn 5.1.1 on the Gtablet. If I remember correctly, someone tried it on one of the TnT-lite variants as well with no success.
ShareGPS (on an android phone) and BluetoothGPS on the tablet will work for GPS data from the phone to the tablet over a bluetooth connection. Then WiFi tether for data.
An alternative would be to get a cheap Bluetooth GPS receiver and pair it with the gtab, and use one of several utilities in the market to feed the data to a mapping application of your choice. Kinda how we used to do it in the ppc PDA days.
Thanks I can pair the 2 but, I can not get the phone and GTab to talk to each other. I do have a BT GPS and it pairs it to the GTab. What utility would you suggest to start with to get the GPS to match with the navigation software.

Navigation needs connectivity to setup the route. Once the route is setup and 'cached' you can drop your connection, so long as you don't vary from the route. Any re-calculation needs connectivity.
for off-line navigation try Co-Pilot. It's pretty cheap (I Think $5.00 for USA). It stores the map files on your SDcard so no connectivity is needed.
Also, I'm pretty sure the latest google maps starts storing maps tiles locally as you drive around. Thus, the more you use it, the less dependent you are on a live connection.
+1 for bluetooth gps receiver, bluegps to interface, and co-pilot for nav.

Tether GPS Client FC's on me on my gTab running TNT lite.
I believe I've tracked down the FC problem. Give this APK a try. You will only need to install it on your tablet. The server on the phone is unchanged.
This is the lite version, but it includes a full client. If this works I'll push an update to the market for both versions.

I've got TetherGPS working on my Viewsonic g tablet running Brilliant Corners 1.2! The trick, you have to disable "Automatic Broadcast IP" and specify the servers (phones) ip address instead. I have a feeling this will work on other roms too!
1. Enable "use gps satellites" on both devices and enable "allow mock locations" on the tablet.
2. Download and install the latest version of TetherGPS on both devices and Wireless Tether on the phone.
3. Create a network using Wireless Tether. After tethering, the IP address you need can be found in Wireless Tether under menu>access control
4. Run TetherGPS on the phone and uncheck "Automatic Broadcast IP" and enter the IP address from step three into "Broadcast IP" and click Start Server.
5. Run TetherGPS on tablet and select Start Client.
6. Once you have it up and running put the widgets on both devices
Now that (hopefully) everything is working all you have to do next time you want to use this is
1. Start Wireless Tether and establish a connection from tablet.
2. Click TetherGPS server widget on phone.
3. Click TetherGPS client widget on tablet.

+1 Share GPS on my HTC Inspire 4G. BluetoothGPS4Droid on my GTab running TNT Lite 4.4. Works like a charm!
Make sure Bluetooth is on on both devices. Make sure you have WiFi on your GTab (to load maps). I use the WiFi Tether program on my HTC Inspire 4G. Start ShareGPS on phone it will be "listening" and watch for the GPS coordinates to show up. Start BluetoothGPS4Droid on GTab, choose the phone device listed on top of settings, select check mark on SiRF GPS, set retrys to 5 and then select Start/Stop GPS. Phone should then recognize the GTab name and show connected. If not, select menu on ShareGPS and connect to. (You should see your device listed but you also have the option to pair if not listed)
Give it up to 1 min to acquire satellites and launch whatever mapping program you use... Enjoy~
Ok maybe its just me not finding this out till right now but you can Pair your Phone to your Tablet, then in Settings hit Internet access via tether and Bam !!

Paired my galaxy s II to my tablet through bluetooth. I enabled bluetooth tethering but still can't get an internet connection. Under bluetooth settings it says next to the galaxy s II - Paired but not connected

if able to, use wifi tethering instead. BT slowestof tethering methods. but if wifi won't work, BT is better than no connection at all. Barnacle or Wifi Tether are good apps to use. phone with internet connection needs root for it to work. so o guess if your phone not rooted and BT tether works, its better than nothing. lol

My Tether app stopped working till I use the Tether Patch but just havent gotten around to it, Bluetooth tether isnt that slow, seems pretty fast to me..

its decent. if you do a speedtest.net comparison of the 2 tethering methods, wifi always alot faster. BT is good though. as long as you able to tether, that's all that matters, no matter the method used.

I have a galaxy s2 with juggernaut rom but it doesnt work. maybe it's not for all phones
i can pair it as you said but I can't get on the internet. It takes me to the Verizon tether page telling me I have to pay for tethering. I have a rooted Droid X but don't have any tethering apps installed. I thought for a minute you found a way around this.

then I go right to google.com and it just works

You have to be rooted and have a kernel that supports wifi tether. Thenn you have to run a .zip patch through the recovery screen just Google your device and include wifi tether and/or patch. There are hundreds of how to writeups.

Or use Bluetooth for the lucky few that it works for, no need for rooting or patching etc etc

easy solution then. if u rooted already, just Google the wireless tethering apk and Barnacle apk. and you should be able to tether over wifi without having to pay for the plan. as long as you have a data connection and don't go overboard on the tethering like doing huge downloads n such.
Yeah I know I can install the apk's and make it work but I am a little afraid of getting caught and losing my grandfathered unlimited data plan. I read once where they can see that you are tethering since the MAC address of the device using the data is embedded in the transmission or something like that.
Any Verizon phones successfully connected?
If you have a Verizon phone and can bluetooth tether please say which model you have. I unfortunately bricked my HTC Incredible trying to follow some convoluted process for downgrading and then rooting.
So, yeah, I have to get a new phone and would like to know which one I should get that will allow me to bluetooth tether without rooting.
BTW, I am getting really frustrated with Android and the tweaking, hacking, and manipulating just to get functions to work. I don't have an Apple bone in my body, but I envy them for ease of use.

I have read all the posts regarding the inability of ICS on the prime to access ad-hoc networks. I have tried all those 3rd party software (Barnacle, Wifi Tether beta 3.11 - tried to select different phones, pdanet on my Moto Atrix and mywi on a jailbroken Iphone 3GS) and my TP just does not see the ad-hoc network. There is a work around to modify wpa_supplicant (in one of the posts), but don't want my TP to be rooted. I think all these is happening due to ICS since on Honeycomb there was no problem. One of the posts indicated that ICS disables ad-hoc network since they are using WIFI Direct and don't know how that is implemented or used with the TP and able to connect to wifi devices (maybe like phone running a wifi tethering software, don't know)
Other people got it to work and for me, for whatever reason just does not connect my TP.
Another problem I have, is when I use bluetooth with my Atrix, it is indicated paired but not connected and whatever I do, when I click on the phone, the only option I have is rename or unpair, and my suspicion is, my bluetooth never connects to my phone. I tried my bluetooth headset and is connected properly (indicates media and phone connected) and I can hear my music play on my TP. Never works between my phone and TP.
If anybody is kind enough to share their thoughts or even a fix for this, would gladly appreciate it.

I fixed mine by using a custom ROM for my phone with a baked in Wi-Fi tether ie Sprint hotspot or Verizon's hotspots as these work just fine with tether.
I had success with the Open Garden Wifi Tethering app (available on the Android Market).
I have a Thunderbolt and have used Barnacle and Wifi Tether in the past for tethering to my laptop, but neither of these Apps worked with the Prime.

theres already been a 20some page thread about this. ICS doesnt have a method to see ad hoc networks. some phones can broadcast in infrastructure, some cannot. Me personally, upgrading to ICS on my Verizon Rezound seems to have fixed its ability to broadcast in infrastructure, and where i was screwed before I am no longer.
I haven't tried adhoc, but it works fine if I turn the wifi hotspot on.
I'm using a custom ICS rom on a T mobile HTC Sensation.
If you have read all those threads - then there is no need to start another one.
