[REQ] Calling all Photoshop guru's - Vibrant Themes and Apps

My brother has Dell streak and i recently got him rooted and onto 2.2 (as it comes with 1.6). We then started to make his phone sexy, since hes jealous of mine. We found a thread that quite honestly made me jealous. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=899879) I want to know if some of the talented minds on our thread can make such a thing.

All of that should be fully compatible with our phones. It's just Desktop Visualizer with a custom wallpaper. It is really cool looking though.

Gotcha. Well definately not me . I don't really do artistic....my theming is more fundamental changes Tonic probably would have been your best option, but honestly I'm not sure if he's developing anymore or not.

Great find. Too bad I prefer portrait mode over landscape but this has inspired me to do something similar in portrait view.

That would be hot. Thats more or less what im looking for. The Vibrant is majorly a portrait phone, as for the Streak is a landscape phone. I was inquiring if an artist could make a walpaper (portrait style) for our phones so the same type scheming could be achieved.

Not to hijack the thread. But what's going on with tonic? His work was awesome.

200 and 230 views and only 3 comments? i guess there arent any artistic folk here after all.

What exactly are you wanting to do just make wallpapers like this? Or a pre made theme with everything set up?

It looks like they just changed the icons of the apps to be transparent then applied a wallpaper that already said the app names on it. I would love to do this but its tough to do without a Dell Streak. :/

My goal is to have a similar type wallpaper, several if I may, so that I could apply my own icons. (Transparent) and use just one home screen. But as you can see, these are huge and landscape.

I have a friend that is pretty good at photoshop and will give it a shot for me. The problem that I see on this though is you will not be able to have more than one screen to move between or non of the icons will line up when you move to an alternate screen. What apps do you want listed on it? Do you just want the wallpapers from the other thread formatted to fit the vibrant screen? Let me know so I can pass it on.

I wouldnt mind having only one home screen. So long as the general things are avaiable. (Dialer, Gmail, Market, Messaging, Web) a PLUS would be to also have a File Browser section and a Music section along wih a gallery. but these are not essential. The wallpapers from the other thread are landscape and not really for the vibrant. so to resize them would look odd. Anything original is ok. im not picky. i just thought it would be a good idea to introduce these to the vibrant.

Actually... not entirely accurate. You can use the MultiPicture Live Wallpaper from the Market (free), and assign a specific wallpaper to each screen. You can use the same basic wallpaper with different app text locations, or different ones. Once you set up the screens you want, then add the trans icons, and boom, multiple screens with the same basic idea as what the OP had in mind.

That's true I forgot about that live wallpaper. But I will give him the info and have him start working on them. Not sure how long it will take bit I'll put some pressure on him to not lolly gag around ;P. It might take a few days but I will post an update in a few days.

Vibrant "HOT BABES" Wallpaper Gallery

Thought I'd share my contribution. Since I'm no programmer, the best I can do is resize and crop some hot women for your Vibrant pleasure.
MOST of these are the standard 960x800, although there were a few that I felt could not be cropped without destroying the intent of the image, so these have been sized to 960 width. MOST are of hot women, although there's a few random walls in there too.
As with all Vibrant walls, these should also work fine on any phone that uses the same size walls (Nexus 1, etc.). Once I've converted a few more, I may try and .zip up a big file to be hosted somewhere, if anyone's interested, but Picasa works great for now.

Download Floating Image in the market. It will allow you to enter Picasa accounts and stream them pretty easily with a bit of tweaking. Just make sure to turn off random and uncheck the other streams. Grab his account name out of the link he provided.

actually only via second-hand. One of the sites I get wallpapers from (wallbase.net) gets a bunch of their stuff from 4chan. I haven't cruised the wallpaper section of 4chan (but I will now )
Ill go ahead and put up my Hot Girl gallery as well.
Since the best girl shots for a phone are always in portrait aspect, i have cropped most of the pics like this. They will work best with any home alternative that allows you to turn off wallpaper scrolling. Also the high contrast black and white shots look FABULOUS on our screens.
PS... Most shots are NSFW

Ill keep adding shots as I find them.

Anyone wanting a nice gallery app

This is just a link to another XDA post, but i am using it on my nook, and i love it, so i wanted to let people know it works:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=694005
The 3D is VERY smooth, and it does the best job yet for me setting the wallpapers.
Thanks! I have been meaning to look around for this.
Funny, I HATE this gallery on my phone. But it's great on the nook.
Thanks for he suggestion. I just found flickie backgrounds he that uses this gallery to set wallpaper. It doesn't do fat ridiculous zoom thing that the stock bc does when you use a still image. Worth the install.

Same here. The 3D gallery was really slow on my Evo but surprisingly good on the NC largely due to the bigger screen.

Can anyone recommend a good site for b&w photography wallpaper?

As per title.
Even my monochrome tastes are a little bored with a plain black lockscreen, now I'd like some grey in the mix.
Looking for photos - cityscapes, nature, nothing too abstract.
Trawled through zedge, interfacelift and a few others, not found anything great and/or 480x800.
Any tips much appreciated.
D'oh... this probably should have gone in the themes & apps section, right?
Thanks to any mod who wishes to move it.
I got a few picture but I just do a search in google and download them
Great tip, thanks....
Of course I've bloody done that, and am still doing so. It's haphazard and very time-consuming, and I'm looking for a dedicated site.
Well when it comes to backgrounds and wallpapers. I use interfacelift.com
Not sure if they have a category with just B/W images but have a look.

Wow thanks for such a great site for wallpapers that look great on the samoled+ , love that they actually let you download 960x800 for full scrollable wallpapers.
Cheers
deviantart.com has many nice photos and black and white pics too...u just need to keep searching which is a time killler but they have very nice quality of pics
Just convert a nice photo to B&W ... you can even do that with the SGS2's photo editor
This is what i use, if ya like girls. Dont worry its not rude.

Has the most random pictures for wallpaper. Its some very unique stuff on this website. Anything you could possibly ask for is on this website. Check it out.
Personally for all my wallpaper needs I go to [URLhttp://www.wallbase.cc[/URL].
Not sure if they carry specific BW stuff, but they definitly have variety.
Thanks to everyone for the tips, I'll get searching (clean forgot deviantart, and have been a member there for years ).
No easy way to do it, I'll just keep clickin'.

Modified Wallpapers

I was looking for something to work on to gain a little more experience with photoshop so I adjusted one of the wallpapers from Zedge or somewhere to fit my screen properly. I will be happy to modify others if you send me the file. Please include any specifications i.e. you want the main image to show below the clock or at the top or centered etc. Just find this image in gallery and set it as wallpaper after choosing the correct screen type it shouldn't need any cropping.
If this isn't useful just let me know and I'll remove the post. I've been using these awesome roms for a couple months now, and I'd like to make some sort of contribution to the group, and since none of these devs would likely have the amount of time needed to get me rolling making roms worth using I'll try this for now.
Thanks,
Matt
Neither this nor any other image was created by me originally. I just changed the shape of it. If I'm breaking a rule or modifying your work without permission just let me know and I'll remove the image/s

looking for coffee cup wallpaper

I've looked high and low to find the wallpaper I used to have on my NC. It's mainly a white coffee cup with maybe a drop falling into it. I can't remember where I got it, but I have checked all the usual suspects. It might have been from the Nook where it offered to "download more" in the wallpaper section. It is definitely not in the market or zedge. I have seen one similar, but not the one I had. I have looked through a lot of threads here also.
If anyone has it or knows where I can get it, I'd appreciate it.

Close, but still looking. I wish I could remember where I got it sometime last year. I think it would have been either one of those "download more" options on the device or at zedge.net (and it's no longer there).

You have very specific coffee cup tastes! I change my wallpaper images often enough that close is good enough.
Easy enough to resize any that you like for the NC screen if all else fails. I did that with some of my old Heavy Metal magazine covers... until I got bored and changed them.

How do you resize them? I think the size I need for me device is about 1600 x 1200, but not sure. It's Samsung Galaxy Note.

The scrollable wallpaper images for the NOOK Color are 840x1024, 600x1024 for non-scrollable, IIRC. I have no idea what a SGN uses.
Any graphics program that can create a jpg or png image of the appropriate dimensions should work. I've used basic Windows Paint for simple cut & paste images, mostly to get an image centered at the correct size. Use gimp or photoshop if you're after something complex.
The NOOKs ship with a top-down view of a coffee cup at the top right and a scone mid-left, all on a dark wood tabletop. There's a B&N Cafe napkin under the cup. That's not the one you're after, is it?

Well, I found it. I swear I have been searching both the Nook and the web for the last year, but something about posting in a forum triggers the creative problem solving juices. Must be some hidden desire to make myself look stupid.
For the record, the file is called "Cafe.png" and is found in "/system/media/wallpapers". I could not see that folder for some reason when mounting on my computer, but I was able to find it using Astro and email it to myself. Sorry for not figuring it out before posting.
