looking for coffee cup wallpaper - Nook Color Themes and Apps

I've looked high and low to find the wallpaper I used to have on my NC. It's mainly a white coffee cup with maybe a drop falling into it. I can't remember where I got it, but I have checked all the usual suspects. It might have been from the Nook where it offered to "download more" in the wallpaper section. It is definitely not in the market or zedge. I have seen one similar, but not the one I had. I have looked through a lot of threads here also.
If anyone has it or knows where I can get it, I'd appreciate it.

Like this? http://www.epicwallpapers.net/abstract-wallpapers/black-wallpaper-hd-32--2885.html

Nook-Look has a small collection of coffee and tea images, a couple of which look close to what you're after.

There's always Google! Looks like there are a lot of white-cups-with-drop available.

Close, but still looking. I wish I could remember where I got it sometime last year. I think it would have been either one of those "download more" options on the device or at zedge.net (and it's no longer there).

Google was the first thing I tried. Thought here at the Nook specific I might get lucky.

You have very specific coffee cup tastes! I change my wallpaper images often enough that close is good enough.
Easy enough to resize any that you like for the NC screen if all else fails. I did that with some of my old Heavy Metal magazine covers... until I got bored and changed them.

I know. Sounds a little compulsive doesn't it. I change mine around also, but got to thinking about that old Nook one I really liked and went on a quest. I did go with the black ?something? hd2 one mentioned above, and it looks good.
How do you resize them? I think the size I need for me device is about 1600 x 1200, but not sure. It's Samsung Galaxy Note.

The scrollable wallpaper images for the NOOK Color are 840x1024, 600x1024 for non-scrollable, IIRC. I have no idea what a SGN uses.
Any graphics program that can create a jpg or png image of the appropriate dimensions should work. I've used basic Windows Paint for simple cut & paste images, mostly to get an image centered at the correct size. Use gimp or photoshop if you're after something complex.
The NOOKs ship with a top-down view of a coffee cup at the top right and a scone mid-left, all on a dark wood tabletop. There's a B&N Cafe napkin under the cup. That's not the one you're after, is it?

Thanks very much for the sizing info. As it turns out, the one I said was the closest turns out to be the exact one. I came across a photo of the Nook when I sold it on eBay, and that was it!

I have been looking for that image for a while. I have scoured my Nook Color and have only been able to find the 210x256 thumbnail image. Do you know where on the Nook Color it is stored, or where I can find the full image file? I would like to use it as my wallpaper on my Moto Xoom. Thanks!

Well, I found it. I swear I have been searching both the Nook and the web for the last year, but something about posting in a forum triggers the creative problem solving juices. Must be some hidden desire to make myself look stupid.
For the record, the file is called "Cafe.png" and is found in "/system/media/wallpapers". I could not see that folder for some reason when mounting on my computer, but I was able to find it using Astro and email it to myself. Sorry for not figuring it out before posting.

Vibrant "HOT BABES" Wallpaper Gallery

Thought I'd share my contribution. Since I'm no programmer, the best I can do is resize and crop some hot women for your Vibrant pleasure.
MOST of these are the standard 960x800, although there were a few that I felt could not be cropped without destroying the intent of the image, so these have been sized to 960 width. MOST are of hot women, although there's a few random walls in there too.
As with all Vibrant walls, these should also work fine on any phone that uses the same size walls (Nexus 1, etc.). Once I've converted a few more, I may try and .zip up a big file to be hosted somewhere, if anyone's interested, but Picasa works great for now.

Download Floating Image in the market. It will allow you to enter Picasa accounts and stream them pretty easily with a bit of tweaking. Just make sure to turn off random and uncheck the other streams. Grab his account name out of the link he provided.

Ill go ahead and put up my Hot Girl gallery as well.
Since the best girl shots for a phone are always in portrait aspect, i have cropped most of the pics like this. They will work best with any home alternative that allows you to turn off wallpaper scrolling. Also the high contrast black and white shots look FABULOUS on our screens.
PS... Most shots are NSFW

Any chance you would do one for Phish? All black with the small colored logo? probably not your style, but I would be very grateful.
Sure man.
I am a bit of a Dead Head, but have never really listened to Phish. I'll have to check 'em out.
Let me see what I can whoop up.

What color did you want the background to be? Do you want it a gradient that fades to white?
Thanks Sean. BTW, Floyd is my all-time favorite group.

Yeah man! You should be able to just save it from my original post. Just right click and save. If that doesn't work out, let me know and I'll e-mail it to ya.
Just saw you were in Asheville. I'm in Raleigh. Asheville is the best city, ever.
Phish is amazing. I've seen them 54 times, and that is not nearly enough.
All black, pitch black background, with a small colorful phish logo. I'll try and find one:
http://drygoods.phish.com/Product.aspx?cp=773_6268&pc=PHAS06
it would be awesome multicolored, but red would be cool too.
Awesome man!
Ok...Here's a first attempt. Don't be shy to tell me if you don't like it. I'll keep at it if we need to.
Yeah, Asheville ROCKS man. Especially if you like good a music scene.
Guys, I would also use a wallpaper applying app like Wallpaper Set and Save, so that the image will not be stretched or compressed.
Wallpaper Set and Save
These wallpapers look better on the phone, than they do in a browser preview.
Holy $hit, that's EXACTLY what I had in my mind.
Only thing I could say current, which is beyond you, it's the piv, it's not the highest quality, and the upper left corner looks lifted up. Again, that's just because the poor images online.

Hey mbrando, update the first post- that way we don't have to look all over the thread for the wallpapers. Makes it easier for everyone [also for people that like your work to follow you too!]
Just a suggestion.
Haha...Right on. Let's keep searching for a better logo and I'll hook it up. When you say the corner is lifted up, do you mean by the bubbles? I think that's the 2nd row of bubbles? Not sure tho.
I attached the logo I used. Let me know. I am hard headed enough to keep at it 'til it's what you wanted.
Glad you like!
Thanks HG. Will do. I'm still a nit of a n00b. I welcome the wisdom.

That would be hot. Thats more or less what im looking for. The Vibrant is majorly a portrait phone, as for the Streak is a landscape phone. I was inquiring if an artist could make a walpaper (portrait style) for our phones so the same type scheming could be achieved.
Not to hijack the thread. But what's going on with tonic? His work was awesome.

It looks like they just changed the icons of the apps to be transparent then applied a wallpaper that already said the app names on it. I would love to do this but its tough to do without a Dell Streak. :/

My goal is to have a similar type wallpaper, several if I may, so that I could apply my own icons. (Transparent) and use just one home screen. But as you can see, these are huge and landscape.

I have a friend that is pretty good at photoshop and will give it a shot for me. The problem that I see on this though is you will not be able to have more than one screen to move between or non of the icons will line up when you move to an alternate screen. What apps do you want listed on it? Do you just want the wallpapers from the other thread formatted to fit the vibrant screen? Let me know so I can pass it on.

I wouldnt mind having only one home screen. So long as the general things are avaiable. (Dialer, Gmail, Market, Messaging, Web) a PLUS would be to also have a File Browser section and a Music section along wih a gallery. but these are not essential. The wallpapers from the other thread are landscape and not really for the vibrant. so to resize them would look odd. Anything original is ok. im not picky. i just thought it would be a good idea to introduce these to the vibrant.

Actually... not entirely accurate. You can use the MultiPicture Live Wallpaper from the Market (free), and assign a specific wallpaper to each screen. You can use the same basic wallpaper with different app text locations, or different ones. Once you set up the screens you want, then add the trans icons, and boom, multiple screens with the same basic idea as what the OP had in mind.

[Q] Any experts on photo resizing?

I don't know anything about photo editing, but wondered if it was possible to resize a photo that is wider than its length, to longer than its width. For example: Turn a 800 x 480 img into a 480 x 800 img. Phones are taller than they are wider today. I don't know why they don't make wallpaper that will fill the entire screen instead of just the middle section of the phone from left to right.
Gimp. That is all.

I think you need to better describe what you want the end result to be.
I can turn a 800x480 image into a 480x800 image in the gallery by rotating it.
If you want an exported jpg file, that is different than taking an image and cropping it for a wallpaper. The app referenced will take an image, crop it and apply it as a wallpaper. Just long press the photo in the app and choose set. Crop portrait with no scrolling chosen at the top will let you choose the area to crop, and apply the wallpaper full screen. But, that app will not export the edited image. When using the gallery to set a wallpaper you will get different results. Starting with a 800x480 image and cropping out the middle and scaling that up to 480x800 will give you a really low quality photo.
And finally this is not the place to make anyone (especially forum mods) prove to you what they say is right. The burden is on you to show what you tried, and show where it is falling short. So, try the app, and post a screenshot of how it didn't work.

I don't want to crop it. I want the entire picture to properly fit on the screen without as much stretch as possible. It doesn't have to be the exact reverse dimensions of the original photo. For example, turning a 800 x 480 photo into a 600 x 800. That's what I'm talking about. Obviously, most wallpapers are built for desktops. And desktop dimensions are always wider than taller (1024 x 768, 1280 x 1024, 1600 x 1200). What I initially asked is what is the best method, or is it even possible, to get a decent quality pic without cropping by taking an original pic like in the dimensions described above and make it slightly taller than wider. The GS2 is 480 x 800, but any wallpaper you find on Zedge or Wallbase will be 800 x 480, or 1600 x 1200 etc. always wider than taller. I wouldn't be asking these questions if there were an abundance of wallpapers out there with taller than wider dimensions.
Who said anything about making forum mods prove what is right? He said I didn't know what I was doing. I challenged him to show me after the fact. Isn't that how it works in the real world? That's like accusing someone of something they did wrong and instead of bring evidence to back up your accusation, you sit back and wait for the accused to come forward first with evidence to prove their innocence. lol. Why would I post pics of how it didn't work first, and how would anybody know what I was doing wrong? Sounds easier to me if you know how to do something, post how its done. Or if you don't want to contribute, then don't. Otherwise, don't act like a know-it-all but not follow through. And I don't know why everybody's gettin all butt sore when it doesn't involve you (other than the obvious fact he's a moderator and I'm a "noob" ,which I assume, like most forums, are not worthy of respectful replies. Everybody was a "noob" at some point.)
But Thanks for everyone who DID provide some useful knowledge.

My original post wasn't to try and prove points. It was a yes or no question. He answered cocky, so I asked him to show me. I hoped he proved me wrong so I could know how to do it.
Thx. That's kind of what I thought. I just wondered if there were any tricks to eliminate that stretched look as much as possible.

If you don't want stretching you have to crop the photo. That app will stretch full screen, or crop and scale to full screen. If you want a blend of the two, to stretch a little and crop a little you probably need to use a computer instead of an app on the phone.
I still don't understand your goal, if that app doesn't do it. It does exactly what you described. It will let you take a picture that is wider than tall and select the area you want as a wallpaper, crop the picture and apply the wallpaper.
This isn't the criminal justice system. It also isn't the XDA help desk. This site was built by and for developers. No one here is paid for their time to spoonfeed people with a sense of entitlement. No one here is entitled to anything. Noobs get what they give. Mostly they don't give respect, so they don't get it back. Yes, everyone was once a noob. Generally the noobs that don't give respect leave because the forum is too scary and mean. The noobs that give respect stay and become l33t members on the board. (Unscientific anecdotal observation) These members grow tired of the sense of entitlement that makes its way to this board. That sense of entitlement is destroying this board slowly, driving the devs away.
You are asking for help, and have been told what you want to do is possible with Wallpaper Wizardrii by several people on here. So, we either don't understand what you are saying, or we are all involved in a conspiracy to misinform noobs. While the latter sounds like a great book, I think its most likely the former. So, help us help you. Show us what you tried, and maybe looking at what you show will help us understand what you really want to do.

Thanks for the lecture, dad, but clearly, I stated several times that I was looking for a way to resize a pic without cropping or sacrificing quality. So apparently you/they aren't paying attention, or are really here to misinform noobs. While the latter sounds like a great book, it's probably the former.
P.S. I really hope you're not a developer, and just a brown-noser.

How in the world would you resize a pic without cropping or sacrificing quality. We aren't magicians.

I'm just an appreciative member.
If you want to resize a photo without cropping or losing quality what you want is a real Wizard or a time machine. There are no apps that can zoom the picture out to get parts aren't there to give you different proportions without cropping or stretching the photo.

EDIT: You ARE a ninja, you slipped in there while I was adding the addendum to my lecture.
EDIT 2: Because I am in a particular brown nosing mood here is a collection of high Res wallpapers one of the HOX devs posted.
http://www.scottsroms.com/showthread.php/1590-Wallpapers-100-HD-Wallpapers-My-private-collection
Those are high enough quality to be cropped down to a taller proportion and still look great on the 720p screen on the One X.
Quarlow - - yer now in my top 5 favorite people here in xda. Your points of view, how u approach problems, and genius use of mild sarcasm mixed with the truth of what you're trying to say brings a smile to my face. It's rare to meet someone like u.
Second, Ninja - - ur exactly right. Can't get an image to fit into different dimensions without sacrificing quality.
Third--to the op, my original response to u when giving u that app to try was nice, not sarcastic at all, and I was trying to help ya out. Didn't mean for the thread to get so out of control. Let's just end this now. Good luck.

Custom Hole punch wallpaper (s)

I hate the google hide hole wallpapers. So started finding images that I could modify to hide the Hole punch.
Figured others might be making some and want to share?
I normally make one for the lock screen and one that matches in theme for the Home screen.
Attached my tentacle ones.
So anyways I'll post more, but hoping others might join in that are more talented than I am at image manipulation.. Only thing I ask is that the wallpapers hide the hole punch.

Here is a template.
I find an image I want to use, cut out the hole then paste it over this line up the Hole I cut and then color/edit the rest of the image to match.
