Peter123 has found a fix for people having problems with busybox after rooting
ROOT Busybox Fix
I've also found a fix for the people who have problems with busybox after rooting. Found out that stock firmware already contains busybox in /system/bin. And SOC1.7 adds root busybox to /system/xbin.
So the fix:
Code:
mount -o,rw,remount -t rfs /dev/stl12 /system
rm /system/bin/busybox
mount -o,ro,remount -t rfs /dev/stl12 /system

Be really careful with rooting and rooting apps, I managed to root my first Ace fine but after messing around a bit with ROM manager my phone got bricked whilst trying to back-up my firmware.
I got lucky that I managed to pull off a story that a factory reset bricked my phone in the store and got a new one.
I doubt others would get that lucky. Just giving you guys a warning and heads up.

Tested : Samsung GT-S5830(Galaxy Ace)
Android: 2.2.1
Baseband version: S5830XXKA6
Kernel Version: 2.6.32.9-perf [email protected] #1
Build number: Froyo.XWKA9
Root succeeded with SOC-1.6.5

Hi experts,

First of all welcome to forum
Although I doubt that you will get x10 in same price range of Ace, but if so H/w wise it will be far better choice(now it also supports mutlitouch)
But do remember it will never get above 2.1 and ace might get 2.3
I I were you I would have bought Ace but that just me...

Okay and what about the HTC Wildfire S & Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo...
Not that i can get those for the same price but which one should i buy from those 3? (HTC Wildfire S, SE Xperia Neo, Samsung Galaxy Ace).
The Wildfire S is some cheaper but little screen

Any themes for SGA yet? eg. Gingerbread theme. TIA!

But if i would buy The sgs i can better buy a htc desire becuz the sgs is 280 euros ( i live in europe) and the htc desire is 350 euros (70 euros more) The htc desire have better specs like 1ghz processor etc.

Please tell me if you can on the phone to install Flash or Flash Lite? If so, how.

Dont bother buying this phone phone its a waste of time. And if you expect any development for this device now think again..its over a year old and dont think any Dev would be interested in spending any time and effort on a phone with low specs and no capability for any improvement..Trust me i bought this device and learnt the hard way..if You want my advice pick up a phone with full touch and search around to see if any development is there for the phone you wish to purchase..If you like messing around and tweaking your phone go with one that has support from a development team

Hi:
I am a real newbie at this stuff...
I would suggest that you post your question on the Galaxy SII i9100 forum, http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1055, and see if someone there can give you quality guidance on the i9100G - the 'G' seems to make a big difference.

Requirements:
1.install adb drivers for your device (read description below)

3.enable "unknown sources" from menu>settings>applications
4.enable "stay awake" from menu>settings>applications>development
Installing ADB drivers for sony ericsson xperia mini/mini pro+other devices WINDOWS:
Get the latest java for your computer from this link:
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp
download and install java...
Get the latest SDK from the link below:
http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
download and unzip and move to the root of your local drive (Local Disk C in my case)...
Now, run SDK Manager and under the "Tools" category, check "Android SDK Tools" and "Android SDK Platform-tools", and under the category "Extras" check "Google USB Driver package" and then click "Install 3 packages..."
(If your computer recognises your device when plugged in media transfer mode, then there is no need to install "Google USB Driver package"...though i would install it anyway...)
the "adb.exe" utility will have now been installed in the "C:/AndroidSDK/platform-tools" folder.
Right click "Computer" and click "properties", then click "Advanced system settings" and choose "Environment Variables..."
then in "System Variables" scroll down till you see a variable named "Path", at the end of the value type ";" followed by the location of your"Platform-tools" folder...for me it was ";C:\AndroidSDK\platform-tools" (yes the ";" is necessary )and then click ok...
To make sure your installation went right, open command prompt (search for "cmd" in start menu) and, after plugging your device in USB debugging mode, type in "adb devices" and it should come up with something like this :
C:\Users\User>adb devices
List of devices attatched
4523454675745757576D4654 device
Now download the file from this link :
http://attachments.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=841876&d=1325678726
And now execute RUNME.bat and press any key...wait a few seconds and VOILA, your device is now rooted.
Please notice that this is not my work, i just collected the info from different places, if you liked the thread please rate and press the thanks button, if you didnt like it and you probly wont, just dont post any replies... If there is anything that you dont understand, kindly post your reply though i most probly wont be able to help you since im as lost as you are...

Stock 4.0.2.A.0.62 and .69 ROMs cannot be directly rooted. You need to downgrade first, root and then update firmware from phone directly(OTA).

[Q] Android Open Accessory Development Kit for ACE

Sorry cant see anything. But I think you need Gingerbread 2.3.4 (or variant) to run it.
I already have the Gingerbread 2.3.6 updated. But still the ADK apps saying not supported.
my ACE Version details
Android Version - 2.3.6 (stock - not rooted)
Baseband version - S5830DDKQ8
Kernel Version - 2.6.35.7-perf-CL972857 [email protected]#1
Build Number -GINGERBREAD.DDKQ8
No clue man. Does this shed any light? http://tabletrepublic.com/forum/novo-7-paladin/android-accessory-mode-not-supported-1146-2.html
Thanks Bakuron for the link
At least came to know that it is having some issue with ADK.
Is any custom rom or kernel will solve this? Anybody connected with arduino?
Any other help on this....?
This is the only other Ace related post on the ADK I found on XDA: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1411487 I also saw this @arduino which suggests there are some missing support files for Samsung: http://arduino.cc/forum/index.php?P...684960db27cce&topic=73735.msg750944#msg750944
This book here suggests the SGA should work with the ADK: http://books.google.co.uk/books?id=...AA#v=onepage&q=galaxy ace android adk&f=false
On stackoverflow they repeat that Ace is viable but that you need to have the correct USB drivers; http://stackoverflow.com/questions/10186760/android-adk-supported-devices referencing http://www.microchip.com/forums/tm.aspx?high=&m=591785&mpage=1#596040
Is any other kernel installing will help?
2.6.35+ http://stackoverflow.com/questions/7256263/which-android-devices-support-the-adk-open-accessory
Hmmm..i already have 2.6.35+ (2.6.35.7) still no support. BTW..just came my ace from service center after all hard bricked my phone.
Any other cheaper ADK supported phone you know?
Well as per the list I quoted earlier:
Google Nexus S
Google Nexus One
Motorola Xoom
Acer Iconia A100
Acer Iconia A500
LG Optimus Pad
ASUS Eee Pad Transformer TF101
Samsung Galaxy tab 10.1
Samsung Galaxy S
Samsung Galaxy Ace
Apparently the Galaxy Y too.

According to who? I'm certain I've seen people saying their Ace has it working.
HOW...? Any link....
With stock ROM or Custom ROM or any kernels?
From last one month i am searching for that. I am not a good developer, so i can't dig into the coding.
These people say it's supported: http://www.microchip.com/stellent/idcplg?IdcService=SS_GET_PAGE&nodeId=2919&param=en546070

Also http://www.microchip.com/pagehandler/en-us/technology/smartphoneaccessory/tools/android.html Perhaps try contacting them, email is [email protected]
Noticed the only supported SGA is SHW-M240S, which is south korean version not the indian version....:-(
