(Q) 4G data plan - Thunderbolt Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

This may not be the right place to ask this, but has anyone heard what the terms of the 4G data plan for phones will be? Will it be the same as the current 3G plan?

That's cool. When I asked the local Verizon store employee last week, he wasn't sure if was going to be the same.
Thanks for the info.

I want unlimited data

Im with at&t right now but I want unlimited data on a smartphone.what choices do I have

I believe all current data plans offered by Verizon are unlimited. At least unlimited as long as you don't abuse it.
Pretty much anybody that isn't At&t. Verizon, Sprint both offer unlimited data.
I'd avoid t-mobile, because of the merger with at&t.

Yep, ^all right.
Verizon killed the 15mb plan and now its just unlimited data plan only.

Unlimited Data plan is $29.99 and
I assume you mean Talk(Voice Plan)
450 minutes $39.99
900 minutes $59.99
If you add txt, it's $9.99/Month
So, lowest bill you can get is $70 w/o txt or $80 w/ txt.
Thanks for the help, looks like verizon is the best choice for me

Any help

You will need your own 4g sim card to activate the phone, but Verizon shouldn't charge you for one. They gave me mine for free.
Well okay thanks I think I am going to buy a new one from wire fly to be grandfathered in for unlimited 4g

Does Verizon throttle unlimited data plans?

I was wondering if Verizon throttles because the past 2 days my 4g has been lagging big time in Houston. Was just wondering if I was being throttled or if 4g is under going some sort of maintenance.

I'm in the same boat. My 4G data has been choking a lot, with the up arrow hanging sometimes. But then, I have used only 2.5gigs so far 17 days into my billing cycle, so I'm not sure if thats the reason.
Haven't heard of anyone on LTE being throttled, not even the guys using upwards of 20gigs. It's probably maintenance.
I don't think verizon is throttling yet. But they will as more ppl get LTE capable phones & bandwidth is strained. And ppl with grandfathered unlimited plans will be throttled first :/

Anybody else experiencing 4g lag in Houston?

Yes, in fact there's a thread right below yours.
(Not anymore, since I'm bumping yours ) it's the [Q] 4G issue thread

It sucks cause i've been bragging to my friend how fast Verizons lte is and he asks to see my phone and starts to laugh cause nothing would finish loading. Don't you hate when that happens?

I've been getting incredibly slow speeds on LTE in Knoxville. I'm talking about 2mb/s...

Where are you located? Do you experience lost calls?

It could be network upgrades.
I have been having the same issue here in Salt Lake. The Sprint store tells me it is tower upgrades in my area. I take that with a grain or 2000 of salt but it may be true.
Carrier?
On AT&T you can have signal drop if you use a non 4g apn in a 4g area.
You can put your location in here, https://network.sprint.com/ and see if there's any upgrades in the next 6 months. It's entirely possible.
Yeah I'm on sprint... I'm about to go to a sprint store and hopefully they get me a new one and it's better cause I can't even enjoy my phone like this... My galaxy s 2 didn't have this problem so idk if it's the network

Is Straight Talk a good at&t Alternative?Other Carriers?

Im on t-mobile and this constant data drops and crappy signal in my house and everywhere u go is intolerable. I really don't wanna sign a contract but heard.good things about straight Talk. So i need advice or current user input on this matter. Or recommend me to something worth checking out. Thank you.

StaightTalk seems pretty good for at&t users who want to change carriers with minimum fuss. Your at&t note won't need any rom or modem flashing. But, you will have to unlock it and manually input the APN settings.

Well any idea on how the coverage is? Just like att? data fast?

It runs on AT&T's HSPA network. So it's the same as that. You won't get LTE though. That currently only for AT&T.

Just order a sim card online...I'm currently on ST n its got fast data speeds n good coverage
If you have an AT&T phone and plan on using ST AT&T then you don't need to unlock your phone! I'm using the GNote on straight talk AT&T without it unlocked.
