[Q] Dock Icon Size? - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

With this resolution, what should dock icons be sized at with the atrix's resolution?
I just tried applying a few Simple Text icons to my Launcher Pro dock and they were way too small for me to use.

Ok I just made a dock that was 640x100 that seems to fit pretty well.
Icons I guess are 128x100 or something of that nature.
Now if only I could find some high-res dock icons that will automatically resize...
Another edit: I've been toying with the dock some more and up to 640x140, i still feel like it could be higher.
Yet another edit: Im not exactly sure where, but sometime after 640x140, it pretty much stopped making any difference. I've got it at 170 now, keeping it that way i guess.

Graphics Skins for Gtab..$10.95.. lots of selection

Found this the other day in my parousing for accesories for the tab but noticed it hadn't been posted here.... decent selection, close to 300 designs.... Stupid cheap... about time i've been looking for a while for more than just the carbon fiber ones.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ViewSonic-G-Tab...tem2a11553fb8&clk_rvr_id=245990579742&afsrc=1
I ordered one of these and in discussion if they had any alternative's that had more of an astronomy type back ground the person i was in email contact with indicated they could make these as customs with a pic that you provided. If that interests any one contact them and see what they might could do for you.
Holy macaroni.
http://www.ridicgraphics.com/2011/designs/viewsonicgtablet/
The first thing I noticed is that 99% of these "skins" are in portrait mode. I use my gTab in mostly landscape mode.
The second thing I noticed is that there is no link to the wallpapers for these "G-Tablet Skins" for you to download and use to blend with the skin on the bezel of the gTab after you purchase and apply one of these. I saw there are wallpaper links for other devices but couldn't find one for the gTab.
So this may be exciting for some folks but I didn't find it useful. What I would find interesting would be skins that could look good in either portrait or landscape mode (like the carbon fiber skin I already have).
Also, since I have my gTab in a CLIP case about 85% of the time I seldom think about the skins anymore.
If you want the skin in landscape just ask them. I'm sure they'll accomodate they offered me the ability to make a cutom from a pic that i sent them... i wanted an astronomy theme.. but decided on #246 ...
the back ground.. you download the one for the NOOK color list under "ebooks"... it's an android tablet after all... (you'll have to do some creative cropping to get it to fit right)
I can't find a way to lock the wallpaper in landscape, is that possible? In other words, I want to be able to use my tablet in portraite mode but have the wallpaper still be in landscape mode so it still matches the skin.
I havn't figured out a way... may be there is an app that allows you to have multiple wallpapers... one for landscape and one for portrait...I remember seeing something along those lines somewhere... it may be a feature that is specific to certian Launchers also.. did a quick search and there was an app but it wasn't rated very well...

yeah i saw that somewhere too i thinks its something like multipicturelive or something.......
HOLY COW!!!!!
If the selection from the Ebay dealer listed above wasn't quiet what you're looking for.. a shlew of skins turned up in a search on Amazon this AM... check it out... a bit more pricey.. $17.95 ,still not bad compared to the $30 selection we used to have.... but a TON more designs......
http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_n...VIEWSONIC+GTABLET+SKIN&ie=UTF8&qid=1310642213
Did anyone get theirs made? How did it come out? Does it cover the sides like the carbon fibers do? I only ask because I just bought a P3 case on eBay and everything's going to be covered (even the left speaker ) except the sides where the power button is and the other side. Thanks if anyone can help
has anyone gotten these yet and tried them out? i really want to know about the quality and stuff cuase i was interested
I got #246 the grill looking one from the ebay store.. and no it doesn't cover the sides.. there is about a 1/16 inch (1.5mm) around the perimiter on both the front and back... wich is desirable on the back, keeps it from picking up and collecting dust and swarf... the front is ok.. i would look better benig all the way out to the edge.. but the guys at ridic graphics (ebay store) said that they were having issues with people stretching them while they were putting them on that's why they cut the perimiter in a bit.. graphics look pretty good.. not grainny at all... applied easy enough, though a second set of hands made it easier, someone holding the skin up while you locate it is ideal...... over all i'm satisfied...
thinking of seriously getting one from the amazon store because of the astronomy backround selections they have.. if i do i'll comment on them as well...
About time someone started making these. Anyone have a picture of the fit quality once its installed?
I posted some pics in my original thread on Android tablets forum...
they show the bo-bo'd bezel cut line but Ridic graphics sent me a replacement that makes the gap around the top skin more uniform..

[Q] Wallpapers look bad?

Hi there.
Wondering if it's just me, but do most wallpapers seem to look really bad? I just put some hi res wallpapers I use on my laptop on my phone, but they all look terrible when set and don't get why. I have very few wallpapers that actually look good on my phone.
edit: Thinking about it, will they only look good if they're the same resolution size as my screen?
If you are using gallery to set them , and your pictures are high res , gallery most likely is messing up. Try setting wallpaper with "QuickPic" from maket and let us know if its better.
I9100 screen resolution is 480*800, so a wallpaper at that resolution will certainly look better. But as it has 8 homescreens you can also use 960*800 wallpaper, which will be a scrollable one, besides you can put a HD wallpaper too, you just have resize it by dragging the orange lines to the corners perfectly.
Regards.
You must mean the color banding you see. The SGS2's stock firmware has a 16-bit screen driver. The guys from Cyanogen hinted at making it 32-bit, making the screen look beautiful, but it'll take a long while.
Somewhere I think Samsung downclocked everything there is on the SGS2. Because now it all of a sudden charges faster than before, it's faster. And I wouldn't look up if they overclocked it to 1.5 ghz. I bet they have something up their sleeves for the 16-bit screen.
When I read what I just typed, I actually think that won't happen.. Mehh

[Theme][3DGallery][Zip]

just a little something. I tried themeing stock gallery that came with 1.9.1, and nothing stuck. Really strange, plus the top bar is all screwed on that stock one. I themed the fixed gallery I linked to yesterday.
there's really not a whole lot to theme here. The one think that gets me is the blurry background, I will research if its possible to keep it one solid focused picture.
works on low and high res.
the top title bar thing, was still a little tough to get aligned, seems to be a problem with many devices I think. looks nice ok in the 160dpi screenshots, but over 200 theres a tiny bit of mismatch, close enough for now.
not much to say, try it out and enjoy.

What do you think of my multi color Prime?

Here is the link to the Pics,
http://s1137.photobucket.com/albums/n510/drvsbsm/Prime/
I wanted to try something different this time. I got a gray Prime on the way but I don't think I'm going to match them I like the different colors myself.
I must say it actually looks quite good!
Looks nice.
And get rid of that sticker on keyboard, then its even more beautiful

Hmm, no. It could be done, but you'd be physically modifying each key yourself and adding your own LED's and everything, I don't think another keypad would fit right. And then your battery consumption would go through the roof, you'd likely want to increase the size of the battery in the keyboard.
There's not going to be a simple way to do it, and I'm afraid none of these ASUS devices are going to get popular enough to warrant a ton of third-party support and products, not for ones like that anyway.
i actually thought of this a while ago and took my keyboard apart. It does not connect like your laptop keyboard for easy removal (that i remember) and there is VERY little space in there to work with. Overall i think it would be more work than its worth.
You would have to find a keyboard with transparent keys, or find a way to make your keys transparent if you want the letters to glow. This is hard because the keyboard is like, 80% or something of a regular keyboard.
If you just want a glow between the keys this might be a little easier, you would still have to find a way to route power to LED's and find room to place them under the leys which, honestly, do not travel very far meaning you need very small LED's
There ARE small enough LEDs (the size of like, a large grain of sand? not sure how to explain it) and you technically COULD solder those to the ribbon wires (like what connects the screen to the mobo in the prime), supplying power, then route the ribbon around where the keys are, connect to a switch which you route to the outside of the dock and connect to power and BAM you have a backlight keyboard!
But honestly, thats a lot of work and you would have to fabricate everything yourself.
Good luck and dont forget to let us know how it works (with pictures along the way)
glow in the dark keyboard stickers!
Sent from my Transformer Prime TF201
Mmmmh by the way probably with "edge led" lighting and semi-trasparent keyboard I can at least turn my prime keyboard to a littler visible in the dark....
In a LOT easy way i can put on all key a reflective or luminescent paint, and probably light form the screen is enough to make keyboard visible....
I need to try all this...

Damn you beat my brain XD
Smart idea with the stickers!
But btw I suggested an idea to mod the keyboard and put bigger batteries or larger capacity, and maybe mod the backplate of the keyboard aswell in order to fit the possible larger batteries.
It shouldn't be a difficult operation I believe and imagine the battery life increase if its a success

X2 on this. The prime is beautiful and super thin, but I would have no problem if it was thicker with even more battery.
One of the biggest advantages (other than the ridiculous battery life) would be that it would make the dock and all much more bottom heavy.
Edit: Does anyone know if it would be possible to buy the Transformer Prime or Original Transformer dock batteries. IIRC the OG Transformer had a 3300mAh battery. I wonder if it could be wired into the original battery and then a spacer installed.

Im planning on opening mine at some point not right now because I am still testing ths unit and may have to return it.
But it doesnt 'feel' like its a difficult operation. Just find bigger batteries, change them, modifiy the plate beneath to fit the new space which should need to be too big but what the hey the bigger the better, more battery life (ALOT MORE) and finally some weight to the bottom to have it easier in your lap or wherever.
We have to keep discussing about it and finding out what sort batteries are used right now in the dock, dimensions and so on.
I believe its an awesome idea!

When you open it be VERY, and i do mean VERY carefull, the tabs on the side of the dock break very easially and, as a result, will cause it not to hold closed as well.
Also, under the latching mech there are a few screws, hidden by the stickers that act as padding. again, carefull as you remove this because you dont want to deform the sticky padding nor do you want to lose screws.
Also make sure to take lots of pictures!
Oh, and +1 for the glow in the dark keyboard stickers! pwnt!
This would be an awesome mod. If you go through with it and succeed, would love to see pictures, and a guide on how to do it, if possible. Not sure I'd be willing to try it on mine if it's too complex. If it's the glow in the dark paint though, as opposed to the leds, it might not be that bad.
Personally, if it were an issue for me (which it isn't!), I'd buy a USB keyboard light such as this:

Thanks for the advice, I will most likely start doing this next month as I may change to the T700 but the keyboard is just the same I believe right?
The only major differences between the Prime and the Infinity is the 1080p screen and that the CPU will be 1.6 Ghz
My Prime is defect and I the shop from which I purchased it are not taking in any more of them and so I came to an agreement that I will get the T700 instead and just pay the difference.
But im thinking about maybe buying a second keyboard just for experimental purposes.
I think if we all could put our heads together we could create a very cool mod
I would have 'dissected' my Dock right now if I wasn't going to return it.
We'll discuss more about this, I dont see why it should be hard, and yes I shall take a ton of pictures.
Cheers.

Hehe that's cool but I think it enough with some high quality stickers, maybe even just the material that you cut into the the shape of the keyboard strokes and place them, tha would be even easier but also the battery thing would be the truly cool thing to do if its a success of course.

I have something similar for my laptop and I hate it. It casts shadows across the keys and doesn't illuminate everything uniformly. Not to mention, it's an eye sore.
I'd love for some to come out with a very thin line of lights that would sit at the top of the keyboard beaming directed light towards the keys (in your direction), but so directed that it doesn't go straight into your eye. It would be low profile and sit just behind the keyboard, under the monitor.
I still think stickers are the better option, but I personally wouldn't invest until there was a cool font in the right color (blue!).

Is this confirmed that the keyboard will be the same? I've heard contradicting info on that. I'd make certain that this keyboard will be compatible with the 700 before you start tinkering with it.

nobody knows for sure, there is some speculation that the dock will be slightly different, the 700 may be slightly thicker, but nobody knows for sure.
Hi Guys,
I think this is a great idea, I have been looking for ways to do this myself, have you made any progress at all before I start?
Solution?
Do you think we could use EL wire and just weave it through the keyboard keys?

wire is too thick / not enough space.
I have a 700, the prime is SLIGHTLY different (curved edges, 700 is more angular) tho they both fit in the same dock, you just gotta work it a little to get the 700 in properly.
Internally the dock is the same for the infinity and the prime.
Would love to see a mod with an extra battery. Here's a video on a tear down.
