[Q] Anyone use "Good for Enterprise" e-mail client on the Atrix? - Atrix 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

If so, how's the performance? It makes my Cappy lag when running and I thought the dual cores may help with this app running in the background. If the "Good" performance is, well, good and the GPS works, I think I'll pick one up.
Thanks

Yes - i have GMM running on the Atrix. Works fine. No lag at all.

if you are just using Exchange Activesync, you can use the built in email app.
Its one plus of Motoblur, they included all the necessary exchange policies which stock android does not have - so you can get your exchange email, cal, and contacts without Touchdown or Good for Enterprise

[Q] Exchange support

Since I need to have MS Exchange Server support, I use the default program Moxier. Se has ripped out the native support of Exchange in 2.1 so I am still stuck with Moxier.
Does anybody use Exchange and has a better alternative than the default Moxier installed?
Theres touchdown but its pay for and I think its quite expensive:

Hm sounds allright. If it works, 15dollar is not that much.
I have a hosted exchange account and use Moxier. It works fine, but is has it's disadvantages. So I was wondering if there was another app, like Moxier and more integrated with the Google Android mail/calendar/contacts.
Thanks for your reply though, I will have a further look.

[Q] Touchwiz email not deleting messages?

Since the Touchwiz update, my two IMAP email accounts refuse to delete emails on the server. The messages appear deleted, but on refresh they reappear.
The pre-touch-wiz email client worked fine.
Anyone else experiencing this? Know of a fix?

Had the same problem with the stock email client on my Charge. Wound up going with K-9 on the phone and stuck with that on the GTab as well; never even thought to try the stock email. Last time I checked for the Charge there wasn't a fix; be interested in finding out if there is one for the GTab.

I tried K-9, and while there are some things it does well, the flaws outweigh the strengths. In addition to my two IMAP accounts, I have an Exchange account from my day job that I need to monitor. K-9 doesn't do exchange well at all. The K-9interface is optimized for small (phone) screens, not tablets. I wanted it to work for me, but it doesn't.
I like the interface on the TW email client. I just can't believe such a basic flaw as not deleting mail on the server got past the developers--and I'm surprised it isn't causing more uproar.
This is really sad. The GTab 10.1 is the first Android tablet with the potential to take on the iPad, but it won't evenpass the giggle test with bugs like this. AAAARGH!

Agreed that k9 isn't the greatest. Also that the issue with the stock client is beyond ridiculous. I looked into Touchdown, but didn't go with it (can't remember why). That one is supposed to have great Exchange support; not sure about IMAP though.

Touchwiz IMAP issue--update
To recap the problem: After the recent TouchWiz update, the native email client no longer deletes IMAP email on the server. Email appears to delete, but on refresh reappears.
I tried Samsung's twitter support yesterday, looking for answers on this problem. I finally received an honest but not terribly helpful response:
"I've tested this on our Tab here and it does that too. Unfortunately there' s no way to change that. I believe it depends on which email client you have."
I reminded her that there's only one email client on the stock GT10.1, the update broke it, and she just confirmed it as a bonifide issue. Response:
"I have reported this to our product specialists. Unfortunately, I don't have any info pertaining to a fix, I apologize."
When I asked if there was anyone I could expedite this with, she suggested I try the Android market and use a different email client. I'd do that cheerfully if there were an email app in the market that's optimized for tablet interface instead of phone screens.
Overall, not a satisfying experience. I understand that the support tweeps can only do so much, but it didn't leave me confident that anything will change in the reasonable future.

I hate to say it, but it left me almost wishing I'd bought an iPad. As much as I hate the Apple agenda of controlling the world and thinking on behalf of the mindless drones it controls, at least the (employer-owned) iPhone I have does email reliably and can connect me to my Juniper remote access VPN. At this point, the GT 10.1 can't do either for me.

I had the same problem and removing the application data (Settings->Applications-> go to the gmail app) fixed the problem for me for now.
The app will have to re-sync all the emails after but now it deletes and marks messages as read correctly.

One of the first things I tried. Didn't work for me--but then again, I didn't try it with gmail, only with the two IMAP accounts I use daily.
I finally broke down, rooted the thing, and flashed it with the original release ROM. All working fine. The only thing I lost was some of Samsung's crapware and of course the less-than-impressive TouchWiz interface. Not a huge loss, IMO.
Lesson learned: Beware of manufacturers bearing gifts and upgrades.

Email not getting pushed to Atrix

Yahoo, Gmail, Windows Live, Comcast, and AKO. I mainly use my yahoo and gmail but I'm not getting any emails from any of them.
I use the stock ROM (not rooted) so the emails are supposed to be pushed to the phone through the email engine (or whatever its called). I dont use any apps for my email.
For gmail : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.google.android.gm
For yahoo : https://market.android.com/details?id=com.yahoo.mobile.client.android.mail
But you can go to settings->account and sync and just configure it there, should work fine..
I'm having this problem with email Push on my Atrix and Inspire, both running stock Gingerbread. I also have a Captivate running a leaked OEM Gingerbread rom, and it does NOT have this issue. My Atrix didn't have a problem with this until the OTA 2.3.4 update. What I believe I have found to be behind the problem is the way at&t's 4G network handles background data with Gingerbread. It's not maintaining a persistent connection for some reason, but my 3G Captivate has no problems.
Essentially, I blame the network. 4G background data delivery doesn't seem to be playing well with Gingerbread. When I switch to wifi, no problemo. Email pushes just fine. I even had an at&t store employee tell me that he was having problems with his work email on Exchange having massive delays on his Atrix.
Unfortunately, I haven't had any luck convincing customer support that this is the problem. No one has been able to help resolve this.
EDIT: I only have one gmail account running, and it's my primary email account. And yes, I have the gmail app installed and configured properly for notifications.

Stock email app unusable

Anyone else having trouble with the stock email app? Its brutally slow and freezes the whole phone. The problem is that it syncs with the stock calender app which I need. K9 mail does not as far as I know. I wish it was possible to remove our replace the stock email app with a newer or older or fixed version or something, but I don't have root and I don't know how to without it. Any suggestions for this problem or similar experiences?

I was having issues with the stock email app. Any message I would send from my phone it would stay in the outbox and not actually send the email. I would try manually pushing the email and that would not work. My suggestion is to try enhanced email from the market. I have been using it for a week now and the customizations above the stock email are worth the price. I believe you can Google it and download a free week trial version from their website.
You can try other mail clients but if you are using your phone for work and connecting to an Exchange (or exchange-like) ActiveSync server, take it from someone who is not only a heavy email user but also the email co-admin for a 5000 user environment, Touchdown by Nitrodesk right now is the only fully functional non-buggy exchange mail client for Android. If you are only a casual or occasional email user then Enhanced Email is ok, but still has a lot of bugs. I have a lot of experience supporting everything else out there (Including a few hundred Blackberry Enterprise users, and iPhone users) and right now Touchdown for Android is the only stable one that has feature parity with a real corporate email client.
Having said that, the stock mail client on CM7 is a lot less buggy than Samsung's, HTC's or Motorola's. So if you really need to use stock for some kind of calendar integration or because your favorite widget only supports stock mail and you are comfortable with flashing custom roms then CM7 give a try.
Hi, i'm really new to all this root/cwm/flash thing, i hope i am posting to the correct thread. It seems that the stock email client will not work on unNamed rom, probably because social hub is not installed. It just won't set up the account. (I did install social hub using the addon provided by the unNamed, but didn't work, social hub won't add any account for that matter) Gmail does work. I just wanted to point out this issue, to see if someone is having the same situation.
Sorry, i'm a complete noob.

[Q] cm7 exchange email app issues...

I am currently using cm7 SD final on my NT16. I found the email app comes with it useful but not polished. It does allow search and it also strips previous email date information when you reply to an email. Does anybody have any suggestions?
I am aware of Touchdown, Enhanced mail, Kaiten and k9 options. The last two options don't support push. I have read good thongs about the first two but I am still researching for other options such as ported email apk from other ROMs or something.
I am using Touchdown to access my work exchange account, and I have no complaints about it.

That really seems like the way to go....
Does anybody have any experience w/ the CM9 email app? Is it better than the one comes with CM7?
Does anybody use the CM7 Stock Email app? I am still trying to find a solution to this w/o going to Enhanced Mail or any other 3rd party email client.
Somehow, I can't believe that the Stock CM7 Email app will purposely strip out date, cc and bc info on a reply. Is this a isolated instance of CM7 for Nook or is it a general issue w/ the Email app in CM7?
Yes i used a modified one (which i include in my modified stock ROM) and works pretty well, see below:
