Root Explorer Problem - XPERIA X8 Themes and Apps

Using hackdroid 0.12 on my X8, just realized that something is wrong with root explorer? Root Explorer has been granted super user access but root access failed? I get the error message "FIX ME! implement ttyname()bionic/libc/bionic/stubs.c:360"
Anyone facing similar issue? Is it a bug of hackdroid 0.12 or is it just me?

Yep. Got the same!
Sent from my X8 using XDA App

okay, that makes me feel so much better heh heh guess its a bug then?

Absolutely-yes. That does not make me feel much better though..;
I made my x8 down just because i thought it was sth messed up w/busybox. Further: i suppose sd mounting problems come from improper su access. Sbdy should point that in DEvel. Section-i myself dont have enough posts yet.

Try this one.. It's working on me, so it should work on others..

Thanx for input. My x8 rebooted immediately after installing it w/out even saying Hello but nth changed . Pitty.

just could not get root explorer to work with hackdroid 0.12 and reboots from sdcard being unmounted automatically were getting really frequent so I switched over to mini cm port for x8 (alpha 3.1). Root explorer is working and hardly any random reboots; though i still can't get native app2sd to work

...Guys..why does my root explore not working?...everytime i press it...then it will says not responding n force close..then it will says remove sd card safely [email protected]@..confused...n it will reboot my phone...i am using x8 with nexus v2 mod on 15 baseband...

TripNMiUI 0.2.1 SD card problem

Hi Trip, I hope you read this as i am new and cannot post in your thread about the new rom. I have installed it on my x10a. It has the same bugs as everyone else mentioned. But i have noticed two more things
1) After using root explorer the i got a message saying that the "it is safe to remove the sd card".
2) The Gallery is very slow, its like lagging too much.
3) The Quadrant benchmark does not work
Apart from these problems everything is working fine and very smooth. Good job, looking forward to seeing a new version with fixes soon.
update:
1)I downloaded astro and after going through some files, the phone restarted again with the same message "it is safe to remove the sd card".
2)I could not find astro pro in the market which means there is some problem with the signature of the market or something
Hello MNA1
i also got the new MIUI Rom from Trip, and i didn´t have any problem with it..
Have u try kill system server after flashing ?
The Gallery3D is really slow, so i have flashed the gallery.apk from Tripnmiui_0_1_8 ... It´s faster as the gallery3d ...
sdcard problems --> wich baseband did you have ?? you need .49 !!
Greetings
SaOSinX
Yes I have flashed baseband .49, initially I did not had any signals due to which I crashed the system server, after which the I got the radio signals but I had the SD card problem. Ill try crashing the system again and let u know what happens.

Hi
I am running Free X 10 Rom(latest) on .49. Every time I try to install an other ROM (Tripnraver's latest) everything works except for my phone..it says that the sim is invalid if I try to look for networks. It doesn't even ask for my pin at first startup (Belgium SIM)
I've tried to contact TripnRaver but I have limited acces on this site so....
Any hints are more than welcome!

[Q] Which custom rom should I choose?

I must admit, I am a complete noob when it comes both to linux, android and smartphones. I know a great deal about computers, but only recently bought the X10 mini pro, since it wasn't that expensive and I wanted a qwerty-keyboard.
Anyway, the reason I have decided to install a custom rom is mainly the fact that SE have confirmed that they will not give X10 mini/mini pro Froyo, so therefore I now understand I have to start using custom roms.
The current wishes I have for installing a custom 2.1 rom is the following:
-Apps2SD
-Multitouch
-Change themes
I have currently decided to go for the iridium rom. Is that a good decition? I've read lots about "JiT" but I don't exactly know what it is. For example, can I install JIT, then install a custom rom (such as iridium) and JIT will still be "installed" and working?
Many of the tutorials here are great, in the way that it makes noobs like me able to actually install custom roms, however, the tutorials are alot like:
STEP 1) Pick a ftl/i20x model and install with flash tool.
STEP 2) Use one of the following builds: 2.1.A.x353.3531.43 (I'm like... WTF IS FTL?! WHAT BUILD SHOULD I CHOOSE?? WHAT'S THE DIFFERENCE?!?!? :/) lol,

i would say try till you find one you like. just because you like the looks of the iridium rom you should try them all before you make your descion. also experiment a bit since that does not hurt to try.
Well whats holding me back is the simple fact I can't get xrecovery working. I made another post for that tho, anyone of you want to try and assisst me?

I start right after I feel the vibration (a little b4 the sony ericsson logo appears)
And remember that it is the first logo that they're talking about! The one woth only text! ;D

Trust me.. When I say I have tried for hours getting xrecovery to work, that includes rebooting 20-30 times, each time pressing the back-button from vibration and probably like 3 times per second, until phone is fully booted. No results. Is there no other way to check if xrecovery actually IS installed?
Ok, I've seen some problems with the placing of the three files...
Where have U placed dem?
You need to COPY them from sdcard til SYSTEM, Then MOVE to system/bin.
That step is very important to make it work.. if you've just copied them from sdcard til system/bin , that could be the problem.. ?

Thanks alot!
But now the strangest thing happened... after my phone crashed and I repaired it, I log into market with my google account, and all applications (such as "Root Explorer") that I've paid for in the past, won't get downloaded. It just starts download but nothing happens, download freezes at: "downloading".
Any ideas what's causing this?
JiT is enabled as part of installing Iridium ROM.
Alright, I did a factory reset to fix the problem. With market. Followed indtructions precisely, three times now...xrecovery never starts up.
Anything else I need to configure? I notice that when i reboot, go /system/bin the xrecovery.tar file is gone.
EDIT: No it is still there, with the same permissions.
It doesn't seem like anyone else have any issues running xrecovery, so I don't get it!!

When I try to install xrecovery with the aapk-installer, the three icons just turn red. Judging from others who had this happen, it was due to an outdated busybox version.
Anyway, I ran Titanium Backup to update busybox, but that only got me 1.15. How can i get 1.18? It is not on the market

I dont think it is due to busy box version. i have busy box 1.15.3, and i have x recovery and custom rom CM 6.3.2.1 installed.
Are you moving the file and then copying them to them to the system folder? and is the root explorer in rw.
Thread which i followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=878426
peace.
I move files to /system/. Change permittion. Copy to /system/bin/. Reboot. Hammer back button, nothing.
The unified xrecovery-apk installer gives a clue I think, cause the install fails. I just wantt to find out why. I am rooted. I do mount r/w..
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
You need to copy them THEN move them, from your post above you are moving them then copying. Its important to do it the right way round.
Now I copied them to /system/. Change permittions. MOVE them to /system/bin/. Still no luck.
I am confused about all the talk about Busybox version, instructions about "DO NOT UPDATE BUSYBOX ONCE YOU'VE INSTALLED XRECOVERY!!" etc. but if I had done that wrong, xrecovery should just cause the phone to freeze at the SE-logo, right?
Atm, nothing at all happens at the SE-logo.
I think I'm going to use SEUS to wipe it all clean again, then just root it with superoneclick from PC, download Root Explorer, and try this again. My build atm is: 2.1.1.A.0.6 btw.
Thank you all so much for the help! I got it working now Had to go back to factory settings, then just root with superoneclick (NOT try to install xrecovery) then I installed xrecovery manually, after installing busybox through Titanium Backup.
Haha, now the only issue is that I can't find the flashtool from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=825664 I made afew posts here and there asking if someone could re-upload or post a mirror two days ago, but no replies. Does anyone have the GUI-version of flashtool?
EDIT: Nevermind. An angel uploaded a mirror of that too! =) Thanks everyone, now I will try my luck with the iridum rom!

Sorry, I'm new users and I cannot post reply in the develop section so I decide to create new thread here.
I have problems with ROM Arc CM6.2.0 Achotjan_2.2.3_v06
Force close:
- Home launcher
- Call log
I don't know if there are someone has these problems like me.
Please fix this or show me how to fix myself
Thanks.
First..try to fix permissions in xrecovery-advanced options! Anyway are you talking about time scape call extension?
Sent from my X10i using XDA App
I did as you said. Seem to be it's fixed. About the call log FC, I saw it appeared 2 times once reboot, like "com.android.calllogevent" ( I don't remember exactly)
EDIT: here is it. com.sonyericsson.eventstream.alllogplugin
Ok so..try this way:
-open market and install "unistaller for root" free app
-open it and forget to allow root access
-search timescape call log extension (i don't remember if this is the exactly name..but it's much similar) and unistall it! (Backup the apk to be safe)
After that you should be free from fc's!

@silveraero : How many time has passed since the installation ?

**Insufficient Space** Problem

I have been using the RAZR XT910 for over a month now. Lately I've been facing this problem of : 'There is insufficient space on this device', whenever I try installing an application from the market. My phone has over 3.5GBs of installation memory still free. Dowloaded APKs install fine. What could possibly be the problem that is hindering the installation of market applications? Kindly suggest a remedy soon. Thank you developers.!!

I've had this problem before, occurs usually as a cause of com.(appname).ODEX files in the root of your device`s system/app. Lucky Patcher fixes this for you but you need to be rooted
hey mate I have the same problem check my thread if u can find anything that suits you. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709970

Not sure what the problem is but you could always make a backup hard-reset and see if the problem is still there, you can use AppExtractor to restore programs from the CWM backup.
Performed a hard reset. The problem still persists.. What next? Please provide an alternative, guys!! Thank u.

I have the same problem and I am waiting for ICS in hope for fix...
hmmm maybe try
1) Wipe Dalvik cache via CWM + clear market data via the stock App Manager?
2) Uninstall any market updates and perhaps try again?
3) I'll try think of other solutions in meantime..
Try clearing the data for the market app and see if that might help. It's possibly a cache issue.
Have you installed a LOT of apps over the past month or so?
Mobzter : Thank you for the suggestion and thank you to all the members above for their suggestions!!
I have been able to fix the problem, in the meantime...
1)Downgraded to 2.3.5 using SPYDER Fastboot ROM : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1362956
2)Manually upgraded to 2.3.6 (and not via MotoHelper interface) : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1534729
3)Rooted : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1492965
No 'Insufficient Storage' problems so far, hoping for the best!
Others can try the above method too!! Can't guarantee for any permanent fixes though, but I think this'll work..

I tried all possible ways of clearing caches and uninstalling updates (market), but nothing helped!! Moreover, I do not have much apps installed (just about 25?). I guess problem might have originated while upgrading to 2.3.6 over the internet...
Look at my post above. I suggested a possible fix for the problem!! Worked for me.
If you have any gameloft games or games in general (like N.O.V.A 3 etc big games) I recommend this app https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.slf.ListglApp&hl=sv
you need to be rooted!

I have a Moto RAZR V, running Android 4.0.4. I rooted, and alls good, cept I can't install barely any apps due to "Insufficient" space... A 320KB app won't install, but Amazing Alex HD will
I have 1.4GB free on my 2GB internal storage... and I can't access my 32GB UHS-1 SD card for app storage at all... Anyone care to help?
Oh, and before you say "Wipe the cache" and "Install Lucky Patcher"... I've done the former, the latter won't install, same "Space" issue.

Won't install. Insufficient space. (75K app )
Is there some way to manually install an app?
Did I mention that my phone WILL NOT work with any form of App2SD? Like, it is literally DISABLED.
EDIT: Fixed the "Insufficient space" issue, but still can't App-2-SD.
How did I fix?
1. Downloaded Link2SD (root)
2. Clicked Menu > Settings
3. Tapped "Install Location" > Automatic
4. Installed APK from Store/Download, no issue anymore.

[Q] please help me remove superuser!

Hi everyone!
So I own an Sony Ericsson Xperia Play R800i with its normal Android Gingerbread.
I tried everything to Root this phone, but I failed. So I decided to keep it unrooted.
My only problem is that once I was trying to root it, but as always the program on my laptop failed and this time it left my phone with this Superuser.apk flashed into its system apps folder before it failed to root my phone and after failure left me with this app that I can not remove. I already have a very little internal storage, besides it's useless and I want to get rid of it.
What should I do?? :cryingg
My phone is not rooted, and yet I'm stuck with Superuser app hacked into my phone!
I don't know much about computers and IT either. What's the use of Superuser app on an unrooted phone...
I hope I can get it off.
Please help me!
1Great minds think alike
Should probably post in the right forum.
The reason you can't remove it is that its a system app. As far as I know, you need root to delete system apps.
