DSP Manager (system audio equalizer) - EVO Shift 4G Themes and Apps

Like my heroc, the Shift suffers from the lack of a low end when listening to music in decent headphones/audio system. Though the Shift has definitely improved, it still isn't near where I feel it should be.
I followed the directions in this thread to install DSP Manager on my Shift:
[FIX] DSP Manager working on sense rom. +Possible fix for bad speaker

Does this really work for the shift? Anyone try it? I'm in need of increasing my loudness for in call volume especially...

DSP Manager works excellent on my HTC EVO Shift 4G. The EQ is highly customizable.

No drawbacks or issues though after installing it? What's the best way to backup before doing this?

Ok well I installed it, and enabled the phone speaker and adjusted the peaks. I did a test and don't notice any difference when in a call on speaker phone. Anyone else?

I only notice a difference when using headphones or speakers.

Reduce Bass

Anyone know of an app like dsp manager that will allow bass reduction? I drive an s-10, and have a 1000w Rockford P2 subwoofer sitting behind me. Even With the bass turned all the way down on my radio, the bass still overpowers the treble. I ran a rom on my old droid that had dsp manager with a check box for bass reduction, but it won't work on my tbolt. Any ideas?

I can't tell but are you saying that setting in DSP Manager in CM7 for the TB doesn't work? or you just want that CM feature on another rom?

Is it possible to use the dsp manager from cm7? I thought the one I was installing was the right one, but I'm not sure

I'm just saying there is a version of CM done by Slayher for the TB.
And since it's CM, it includes DSPManager which seems to work.
Thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049542
As far as pulling that out and using in another rom, I'm not sure as I've never tried.
I would imagine there are other music players on the market that have equalizer settings like that you can use to reduce bass though, if you don't want to flash CM for whatever reason.
I've got it working with gb BAMF. I was just using the wrong apk (d'oh). For anyone else interested, this link will get you the cm7 dsp manager:

[Q] DSP Manager why?

Why does almost every rom include this app? I dont see what is so great about it. To me it is just taking up RAM.
Am I missing something?
You can just remove it if you don't want it. To my knowledge, it is an equalizer for your phones speaker and earpiece. You can change it to how you want..but if you don't want it, just remove it. No need to get all feisty ;p

If used correctly you can dramatically improve sound quality with speaker headsets and bluetooth

Increases functionality and customization of your sound output on your phone's 4 different output methods (earpiece, speaker, BT, and headphone jack I believe as well)
Every time I opened it it would force close, so I removed it.

because there's a serious low volume issue on the 3D
we need everything possible to try to make the sound louder
I like the EQ, it comes in handy with apps like tune in and other apps where a little sound boost is needed.

If you already have an equalizer or other volume increasing app, it will conflict with dsp manager and vice versa. You can only have one. If you don't have anything conflicting with it like that and want to try it, maybe someone can help you get the apk to install manually. It really does make things sound great. Though I liked Equalizer from the market better.

Thanks. I'll have to look around and see what else is on my phone. I already have an apk of it, I just didn't want to install it again and have the same issues.

Beats settings?

Hey guys,
I was wondering It seems that other phones have come with beats settings? is it true that ours only has an on/off option? if so i must say that is quite ****ty... or maybe i just cant seem to find the settings, fairly confident i have searched everywhere in this phone n this phone does have quite a few hidden settings so i may be wrong
Thanks in advanced!
Hmmm, I have never seen any beats settings on the phones I have used. Are you sure they were Beats settings and not a mod of some sort that was added in by a developer?

there are no beats settings persay, just audio options, beats works only when headset is plugged in
they're called enhancements(audio)
There are no settings, just an on/off when headphones are plugged in.
Beats works through bluetooth as well.
Thanks for clarifing. i guess im just used to dsp manager from cyanogenmod on my dinc, it probably was a modded version where i saw settings for beats!
X - Rezound owner here.
beats is an on/off switch.
u can really tell when using the beats headphones.

It's a significant difference my car too (using wired aux cable). The sound may actually be better than the in-dash CD player.

Beats is just an equalizer, making it sound better. It makes bass louder, as most small devices have little audible bass, and slightly tweaks existing settings to make an overall better sound experience. If your car stereo doesn't have real equalizer settings, just the treble/bass/middle that most do, then yes, your phone probably would sound better.

[Q] Speaker Bass Slapping CM11

Hi I am running CyanogenMod 11 nightlies on my Droid DNA and whenever the volume is over half on the external speakers, the bass makes a "slapping" sound (similar to what you'd hear in one of those overly loud car stereo systems). Anyways, this has begun to get pretty irritating and I'm wondering if anyone has come across this problem or has any solutions. I've checked the DSP manager app that comes preinstalled on CM and bass boost is turned off and all the settings look fine to me.
Regards,
Alex
EDIT: I found a solution, use a root uninstaller to delete the DSP application, reduces the speaker crackling and bass slapping effect.

Also you can use Viper4Android instead of DSP.
You try using http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2211163 with clarity speaker option? It worked on my DNA to reduce the bass distortion. I used it on sense, so don't know how well it works on AOSP

Mate 10 Lite (RNE-L01) Sound problem

this device is awesome but there is something that i litterally got annoyed by...
i was using iphone 5s before this phone and it gave sound to headphones like a charm. when you tried to increase the sound it indeed was increasing it
but this phones headphone performance is ****!!! litterally when bass comes in, the sound drops so hard. and when i try to listen a music GAIN is somewhat weird it is good at normal points of the music
then the drop comes and sound gets decreased.. a lot!
how can i fix this
Audio performance of this device is a joke. I hope that it is a software problem and not hardware but i doubt it is...
It is indeed software

After experimenting so much with apps and settings i do now confirm that this issue is caused by the default settings because in "dj" apps after changing gain and messing with eq along with the sound settings the cracking is %99 gone and the sound level increased as it started to hurt my ears (but im using apple headphones)

hi, can you say what is that application that you use ?, and how did you configure it ?, thanks
Are You Using The Equalizer Or 3D Audio?
The device can only reach it's highest audio performance if you have it set to 3D Audio, but sometimes the Equalizer can sound better. Also, what music player are you using?
bluetooth headset problem and sound problem
i will buy mate 10 lite but still this sound problem bluetooth headset problem continues?
