Request: Torch/Flashlight LED app that works on AOSP ROMs? - EVO Shift 4G Themes and Apps

Right now it seems we only have the option of making our screen really, really bright to use as a flashlight option in AOSP roms for the shift. Is there an app for the shift that uses the LED as a flashlight for AOSP-based roms?

I believe if you download and install widgetsoid, it should work. I'll work on attempting to modify the Torch app.
Widgetsoid works if you set it to the LED Flashlight option to Method 2 in the Global settings. Hope that helps.

Try tesla led works perfectly for me

[Q] Any flashlight app or torch? CM7

Any cm7 LED torch app?
What have you tried already?
Typically I use the Tesla LED flashlight and that doesn't seem to be working.
I would think that whatever works with the Nexus S should work with the Fascinate though I cannot confirm this.
I've tried
I've tried telsa led on my phone but that doesn't work. I know the led works cuz it works with the camera app as flash. I have tried downloading all the free flash light apps but non seem to work.
I seem to remember someplace in the not so distant past that someone had it built into the CM6 for use. Perhaps that could be done. For now I am not all that worried as JT is making incredible progress with the CM7 build he is working on.
I will poke around a little more myself before I call it one way or the other though.
Ive tried every single flashlight app I could find and none work. Its weird cuz the flashlight apps see the LED but when i turn it on it doesnt turn the LED on. I love the cm7 builds and this is the last thing I would love to have working. Thanks for your help so far tho!
I use devuni.flashlight works great.
norm883
That's the app I used on com rom 2.1. But threw cm7 it doesn't work. Norm883 does it work for you on the latest build of cm7
I just tried it & its a no-good for me on cm7.

Well it is good to know it's not just me or my phone. Hopefully when cm7 gets updated it will work this issue out. It's not a big deal but it is always nice to have a flashlight with you.
At the risk of being Captain Obvious here, if the LED function isn't working at the moment, most flashlight apps can also just turn your screen bright white and that's plenty bright too.
I use and would recommend Tiny Flashlight + LED as, unlike TeslaLED, there's only one version and it's free -- you don't need to buy a donate version just to get basic functionality like the screen light (unless TeslaLED has changed that, anyways).
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.devuni.flashlight
Also, you can get the pure white screen through a function in CM7. If you activate the power control widget there is an option to add a button for enabling the flash light (white screen). This doesn't help you with using the LED but for the time being until this function is added it is a nifty little feature that gives you some light with one push of a button.
Guess I'll stock with the white screen for now. It's still pretty bright but ya just can't best the led. Well thank you all for your help.
I built this from CM source a month ago, its not 100% but it works on TW builds at least. Don't try to use any of the strobe options and I've also had some strange things happen occassionally where the flashlight would turn on when I received a call.

I tried and it won't even install for me. I'm on the 0704 build of CM7 with the OTB kernel.
Still unable to find a flashlight app that makes the LED run...
I tried about 4 of them from the Market yesterday but none operated the camera flash LED. That includes one that says it is made for the Nexus, which I thought would work but did not.
TeslaLED always worked for me. Though, I have yet to test it on the new CM7.
Definitely worth a try though. GL

Tried TeslaLED..sorry no LED here...I have literately tried every market app i can find...gave up for now...also noticed the LED does not come on when recording video..but does when you take a picture

flashlight doesn't work in CM7

for some reason, the flashlight app no longer works for me now that I'm using CM7. any other flashlight apps that will work?
None of the LED ones work as afaik. You can use Free Light until they get that fixed.
Also if you use the power bar widget you can add the flashlight too it which will make your screen bright white.
At least we know it's possible since the flash works with the camera.

can't get the flashlight to work with miui either

Fix Miui ...

======================================
MiuiFix.zip is mixed from MIUI 2.2.17 & 2.3.2
it can fix Headset(MIUI 2.3.2) or Auto Brightness(MIUI 2.2.17)
MIUI232FIXen.zip does more things:
Fix MiuiSettings
Fix Flashlight (Torch)
Fix Headset
Add 2.3.7 Camera (it can focus)
Add ROOT
Fix wifi (It effects in my phone and I forgot to proint it out yesterday)
If you are using miui 2.2.17
MiuiFix.zip is enough
I believe button leds have a different way of working in miui (working with Auto Brightness)
but if you want the leds work like before (miui 2.2.17、2.3.3 or ealier, just except miui 2.3.2)
you can flash MiuiFix.zip and go into the "use custom" settings once
then flash 2217_signed.zip
you can find 2217_signed.zip in #5
======================================
Timeout.zip adds “Screen Timeout” choices (the red two)
30s 1m 2m 5m 10m 30m Off
but it will lose Korean Language (I hope hpa won't be angry)
I made it from miui 2217
but I believe it can be used in miui 232
for they are nearly the same
======================================
Auto Brightness(MIUI 2.2.17) fixes the crash of the whole phone in custom setting ?
Need to ask...
Can you fix the other issues specifically wifi not working 2.3.2?
• Torch is force closing, but on camera flash is working.
• vibrate doesnt work on messages and pressing home, back, select buttons on phone.
• Also the LED stay on even when the screen is dark.

1. Torch in miui 2.2.17 works well in miui 2.3.2
2. In miui 2217 english version (120314)
it works well
3. "settings-display-automatic brightness"
"advanced mode-use custom"
"edit other levels-buttons-0"
or if you want the leds work like before (miui 2.2.17、2.3.3 or ealier, just except miui 2.3.2)
you can (flash MiuiFix.zip and )go into the "use custom" settings once
then flash 2217_signed.zip

As for LEDs working, which MIUI version are you using 2.2.17 or 2.3.2? For 2.3.2 had to use advance settings and turn them off completely. Not sure right now if that is an issue or not that will require me to go back to 2.2.17.

Was just about to flash 2.2.17 when I got home since I've been using the Korean version.
MIUI232FIXen fixes the wifi as well for 2.3.2? Because thats the only thing I was waiting on before I flashed it.

Yep fixes pretty much everything, install LED patch you recommended works like a charm from my view point. LEDs are off when screen is off and on when screen is on, don't care about blinking when I have some sort of notification. Just wanted them not to always on. Thanks pointing me in the right direction. Did you try 2.3.2 and Manic's patch yet?
everything is works for me, thanks for this fix!
wifi, earphone, gps etc everything perfect!

I will also move to 2.3.2 .....
Screen Timeout is there a fix for less wait time?
Only options I have are 30 seconds, 1 minute than big jump to 5 minutes. Is there patch or fix that will get me to 2minutes?
Applied MIUIFix to 2.2.17, now the LED lights stay on when the screen is off??
Torch works though

i have the same demand
I applied this patch and everything seems to be working great on 2.3.2
Thanks manics.
Just curious if anyone here uses any voip or sip apps? I notice Groove IP works great on MIUI- no echo anymore when the person calling me talks. Only issue I have is that the audio sometimes comes through the speaker instead of the earpiece and I have to press the button to switch between the two.

[Q] SGP 5 - ICS - Disable Button Lights

Hello,I was just wondering if anyone knew of a way to disable the light on the capacitive buttons after installing CM9 with soft button mod? Thanks and sorry if this has been covered.
There is an app called Screen Filter in the play store that enables you to turn off the key lights. It works for me and you should go check.

I use Screen Filter too and it's pretty simple... You just have to open the app everytime u turn on or reboot ur gp.

I think if you have the AOKP ROM then theres a option there to disable them manually
Here is my guide http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1374233
It should work on every rom/stock.
thanks guys, I am using screen filter now and it is working - though I dont think it worked for me on GB. Also, I will try to get LEDKill working as a permanent solution.
I dont think I am using the AOKP rom, I am just using the CMP for SGP 5.0 USA rom from the dev section. Does the AOKP rom happen to have working bluetooth? For that matter, do any of the the ICS roms have working bluetooth?
bluetooth isnt working in any ics/cm9/miui room cuz all are based on cm9 where bluetooth isnt working

What the heck was that flashlight app that was SUPER bright

Ok, I've had 2 ROMs on my phone. Hyperdrive and Barebones and there was a flashlight app that came with one of those ROM's that was super bright. It seemed to have 3 or 4 dimming methods. I just put it on my home sceen and used when needed, but now I do not see it. Does anyone have any idea what that was called or where I can get an .apk for it? Thanks everyone!
P.S. Or was it on stock ROM, can't remeber. I know it wasn't the torch that is activated by pressing the up on the volume button. It was an actual flashlight app in the app drawer.
