[q] needd help!!!!! - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey there,
So, for some reason my phone was acting weird. I wasn't recieving any messages or calls.. So, I decided to reset it by using the Sony Ericsson Updater. When I connected my phone in flash mode, it checked for updates and said that there is a new update available. So, I decided to go with the option to "set back to factory default and upgrade to the latest one." It started to update but in a few mintues. It came up with an error saying "update was unsuccesful, check and see if the battery is full."
After that now my phone doesn't boot up. It gives a white screen then "A yield sign and a picture of a phone" appears on the screen then the phone shuts down. It keeps doing the same thing. I tried to update it again, but no luck.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

percentage battery must be at least 50% before you start to update
try to charge your battery and then start again maybe will help

That's what I am trying to do. the phone is put to charge, not on the computer, but through an outlet. However, the phone starts up and shows that same yield sign and a phone picture then it shuts down. When it shuts down, a green led light comes on, as of it is charging, but the same process of restarting keeps happening.
I am not sure if it is even being charged.
Thanks fo the tip though.

update with SEUS, follow the instruction on a screen until you will see "phone connection" then connect your phone in flash mode and update with seus, for me always working in that way

I believe that your phone SHOULD be charging even though it has the exclamation mark boot screen. Just let it site there and try again in a little bit.
If anything, download flash tool and flash to latest firmware.

Thank you all for trying to help. Really appreciate it.
I had to take the battery out for a while, then i left to charge for a while.
Then I flashed it through SEUS and went with "Factory reset + Update" and thanks God it is working now, soo happy to have my phone back.
The few hours on iphone were just a headache. lol..

Help, my X10 is dead. (Stuck in reset loop)

I went to bed and plugged it in at 3am (battery was at 30%).
I woke up at 11am and my X10 was frozen and showing the time as 7am and notification showed a missed call (phone never rang).
I pulled battery and it is now stuck in at reset loop.
All I get is: Rogers Splash screen>"Activating phone">Reset>Rogers Splash screen>"Activating phone">Reset>Rogers Splash screen>"Activating phone">Reset>Rogers Splash screen>etc....
If I hold menu while it resets it says Safe Mode at the bottom, but still resets.
If I leave it after it resets a few dozen times it just completely freezes on the "Activating Phone" screen and I have to do a battery pull.
I tried it with and without SIM card and with and without memory card. No change.
It is possible that when I went to sleep and plugged it in I didn't actually plug it in as the extension cord I have my charger plugged into is tempermental. The reason I mention this is because I have found a bunch of examples of this same thing happening to other people when their battery completely drains (no solutions, just other people that had the same thing happen). Also the first time it was looping it was saying that my battery was less than 2%, so I replugged it in.
What can I do? Any ideas?

Thanks for the help.
When I google "PC Companion" the first link is for Sony Ericsson PC Companion, so I assume that is what you meant, but when I follow the link the SE website tells me it is not compatible with the X10. (?)
So I just downloaded SEUS (Sony Ericsson Update Service) and it is installing now, but since my phone is only active for 0.5 seconds at a time I doubt it'll work...
follow the instructions for SEUS completely. as i remember, you don't even need to have the phone turned on for it to repair the software.
the program allows you to choose the phone and then repair the phone by pressing the back button (hold it) while inserting the usb cable into the phone, the program will then tell you to release the back button and it will give you the option to repair.

How would he run repair in PC companion if he can't mount?
so use SEUS.

Mounting it is not a requirement for SEUS, it needs to be in flash mode which is achieved by holding down the back button whilst using SEUS as rightly pointed out by arcticreaver..
Hopefully it works for you! Keep us updated!
OK, SEUS is wiping and updating my phone now. As mentioned since it does not need to be on to initiate the update it bypassed the loop.
And now I will be spending the next few hours redownloading all my programs and resetting up all my Email accounts. Yay.
And then I get to look forward to doing it all again the next time my battery dies. Double yay.
keep us posted with this issue. might be something that we have to look out for.
resetting issue
Hi
I had the same issue. Currently I am on Ultima 5 rom. Changing to default rom via seus don't help. Phone is randomly resetting. Sometimes reset loop cause completely battery discharge, sometimes reset loop takes 10 minutes and phone is ready. I thought battery is broken so i bought a new one, but still i had the same problem.
Now I'm thinking about warranty fix, have you better idea ?
its the heat from ur phone. I kept my phone in my pocket and tried to make a call in my car (which was hot), it kept resetting.
I then blasted my A/C at my phone to cool it down and it worked just fine.
So if you're going into this kind of loop, its a good idea to let your phone cool down for 10-15 minutes, especially in the summer.
Its a motherboard/hardware problem for sure.
Thanks for your opinion
I'll try it and write if your suggestion was right

Phone was still rebooting so I flash brand software and after half an hour running on original software the phone dead. I have got a new one from service point

"Power Failure" :- X10 is really starting to annoy me now!!"

Am having really bad trouble with my X10. Ive got no idea what is causing the problem and its really starting to annoy me now as its been happening for a while , if anybody can try and explain to me what I can do to diagnose the problem.
I charged my phone to 100% today 5 hours later it was on 50% that was with heavy use so that was fine .. 10 minutes later My phone switched it self off , After turning on my Phone the battery level was about 18% and I noticed that my phone stated that last unplugged went from 5 hours to 2 mins when it wasnt plugged in about 5 minutes later my phone battery was dead.
"On a dead battery" I charge my phone and it must take about 15 minutes for it to come back on before it starts charging, I simple get a red slowly steady blinking light . but when myphone does eventually come on It charges from 1%...
So if anybody can help me because its really frustrating now !!
Tried software restore & battery calibration Neither worked
Thanks,
craig
Have you tried the S.E. support for this strange problem that still hasn't been fixed. Have you also tried to ''wipe battery stats in xRecovery'' and then in SEUS software repair.
Try this method and tell me if it worked. (Before doing charge battery to 100%!)
Boot into xRecovery
Advanced
Wipe Battery Stats
Start SEUS
Let it ask to connect phone
Put usb in phone and computer (while your still in xrecovery)
Go to reboot phone
Press the home button and immediately after that press on your back button to let your phone connect in flash mode
SEUS will install software
Tell me if it helped.

X10 won't startup > Bootloop

Hey guys, i bought an x10 yesterday, the seller told me straight up that it wont boot, red led flashes 3 times thats it. (he tried to restore his unit with seus after it randomly crashed). When i met him, i swapped his battery for mine and no more red led but still wont boot. I was able to get it in flash mode so i figured, restore with seus and all would be ok. When i got home, tried restoring with seus and when i got close to the end, it failed. Keeps telling me my battery is dead but when i pop it in my other x10, its at around 80%. So, started flashtool and tried it that way but fails towards the end of the process. Even the new flashtool 3.0 didnt work. Gave up for a bit but then retried. seus failed twice but on 3rd try, it worked. Now, the phone will vibe when i hit the power button, green led flashes and screen kinda turns on but no SE logo, then powers off and restarts the boot (still no SE logo). I put in a full battery and left it that way all night. this morning, red led blinking 3 times again. I changed the battery and it still tries to boot but ends up in a loop. Ive been searching all kinds and no fix is available from what i understand. im really confused atm. hardware issue?
Could be motherboard..
This may not apply to the X10 but my sister's X10 Mini Pro went through a fairly similar issue. The phone was stuck in a bootloop with the SE logo, bootanimation, repeat. No matter what we tried, we could not get it to boot properly. She hadn't made a backup and banned me from doing a repair flash of the firmware so I was trying a load of other options (all the while telling her that the only way out was a flash).
I have an EP900 battery charger so randomly decided to charge up her battery to 100% and give it a try. Boom, booted up perfectly. Used the battery down to 20% and tried to reboot, bootloop again. For some reason the phone doesn't boot without a fully charged battery (didn't try charging it with the phone, only the external charger).
Dunno if this will apply to you, but it may be worth a shot. Otherwise, I'm inclined to think you have a mobo problem. Maybe the seller tried unlocking the bootloader and bricked it?

Thats what i thought at first, who knows.... Bout the battery, i tried a fully charged one too but no go. Also, tried to repair my phone with pc companion but still wont boot up... out of options, im 99% sure its the mobo as well...
Not sure, what the issue is, but you can try the following:
1. Try charging the battery for quite a while, and forget about the phone for 2 hours, for me a few months back. I slept while xrec was on, and in the morning it was showing me the red light......I charged it for two hours which brought my phone back to life.
2. You can use SEUS to update your phone, which will wipe the entire thing and get you a fresh new GB stock. Then you can play with it.

1. Battery isnt the problem, as i have 2 to play with
2. Tried that, but either it fails, or if it does go thru, it still wont boot.
It wont even show the "Sony Ericsson" when its powered up. Can it be possible, the guy played around and messed up the files required for this unit to boot? Is that even possible?

Did I just brick my GS2?

Hi guys,
Very confused here!
I was running the latest AOKP Hydrogen rom and one of the latest Siyah kernels...
I recently moved onto the S3, so I was basically prepping my S2 to be sold. What happened was as follows:
I had my S2 connected to my PC to get some data off of it;
I went into the factory reset menu and it froze so I unplugged the USB cable (I assume it was waiting for the SD card to become available.
It displays the "settings is not responding. Would you like to close?" message, but I clicked wait and it seemed to work fine as I'd disconnected the USB cable;
At this point the battery was at about 19%;
I clicked factory reset with wipe SD card;
After a few minutes I check the phone and it's completely blank. I figure it's doing something and can't turn the screen on so I leave it for a few more minutes;
Eventually I grow concerned and assume the phone has crashed, so I hold down the power button to do a hard reset.
After this the phone does not turn on.
It does the following:
If I try to turn it on it displays the SGS2 logo (with the yellow triangle) for a few seconds and then turns off.
If I connect it to the power it displays the loading screen of the battery charge app for a few seconds and then turns off.
Sometimes if I mash the buttons it will flash on and off with a pure white screen until I hold the power button and turn it off.
Any ideas, guys?
My only idea is that something crazy has happened with the battery as I did swap my extended battery with my girlfriend's normal battery last night. As I work in a phone shop, I'll charge up the battery in another phone to make sure it has power.
But I know the battery has power, and the phone it doing exactly the same thing with my old 1650mah battery (which may or may not have power in it).
Any ideas? I was going to be selling it for around £200, so it was gonna really take the load of my shiny, new S3! 0_o

That's just what I was thinking, actually
I couldn't find a description of what actually happens when this brick happens. The page doesn't really say... Does anywhere say?
Edit: I swear I didn't even flash the Siyah RC6 that was known to brick the phones either... -_-;;
Thanks!
It's not just a specific kernel, more are actually faulty. The whole story is here.

your phone is ok as far as it shows u the s2 logo
you have 2 things to do , try to go to recovery or download mode and formate data/factory reset then flash another rom , btw what kernel u used before your phone go to this situation ? if you were using stable kernel "cm,neak, fluxi, syah stable" so you are safe from hardbrick bug , and the hard brick bug is done only if you have faulty kernel and wibed your data through recovery , and this isn't your situation , so don't be afraid

Thanks for saying, but I can't get into recovery or download. The phone switches off before then!
That's what's so confusing! xD
Thanks
With a known good batter try hard resetting to download mode 2x in a row.. Hold the button config to get into download mode.. Hold it through two restarts.. Might work.

I've nuked mine a few times with buggy kernels, sounds like a similar situation. I got my device back by flashing CM9 resurrection, then flashing Siyah, and finally from CWM flashing an ICS-based stock ROM.
I'd suggest taking a backup of your efs unless you're selling it with stock.

i am having exactly the same problem.i did a factory reset after flashing siyah kernel (SiyahKernel v3.3.1) on Resurrection remix v2.2.let me know if you guys find any solutions
JIG
try to use a download mode JIG.
I'm not sure if a link will violate xda-rules....
google it
dont worry
if you boot up and are getting the sg2 logo then you have not bricked you phone.
to fix simply download a .tar version of any rom and run odin to pda reinstall if you wanted to you could go the whole hog and reflash a fresh cf-kernal (rooted or stock) and then flash fresh firmware. just remember to get the kernal that originally matches the (ithink) your correct baseband ie xxki4
there should be no worries aslong as you dont pull the plug.
could have had a worse error saying installation incomplete please use kies then you would have to had taken battry out reinserted and hoped the three butn combo for rec. mode worked happened to me awhile back lol
hope i helped you
ps never read your post fully just skimmd the jist of it although the above should be applicable
also try resetting your battry stats in cwm
finally fixed
thanks for the help everyone.i have fixed it now.it seems like the problem was with the updated version of siyah kernel .i managed to put the phone in download mode.(kept the phone on the charger for a while. than, i don't know some how when i tried to go to download mode it did).and flashed siyah kanel v3.2.6.4 via odin

phone stuck on developers phone message

I have a problem I try to flash mean rom 4.7 installed it from meanrom 4.6 rebooted phone and it stuck on the developers phone message. Wont go past there I can hold power turn phone off but it turns it self back on cant keep it turns off. I cant get into the bootlooder screen to try a factory reset.
anyways i let the phone dye good then I charged it for a min got into bootloader and also rebooted into recovery unfortinitly at that time I was only at 1% battery life I did not want to try to install a backup at that low of a battery. so I shut off the phone through recovery shutdown options.
So I charged the phone for 15 min thinking I should get enough time to get me through the restore process. nope goes to the developers message screen again. and have to let my battery drain all the way down again.
I dont know if this is the right place to ask I am lost and cant figure out how to unbrick my phone. could someone point me to step by step instructions would be great. thanks
