A YouTube app that WORKS on NOOKcolor CM7!! - Nook Color Themes and Apps

I noticed how youtube/xl worked pretty well over on the Nook CM7, so I made my 1st app, hot out the oven! =) Skipping ahead through videos doesn't work so well but all other native controls work fine.. Feedback? Ideas? Props?
I attached the .apk on Cyanogenmod Forums..
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/16323-cm7-discussion-of-nightlies/page__st__440#entry157411

Good start, but once I sign in it does everything but actually play. Seemed to play OK before I signed in. Once you tweak it, you are on to something. Also, when I do sign in it takes me to someone else's channel (yours?) Plus, it would be nice if it would store login info, so we don't have to re-enter username/password each time.

Tried this.... doesn't Work....

yay
Worked like a charm on c7 sdboot
thank you

Fully loads videos on CM7 #19 EMMC.
Only problem is that the videos are all flash embeds and the performance is horrible on my NC, overclocked at 1.1ghz, interactive governor using Flash 10.1.
The best part of the Youtube app is that videos are transcoded and play flawlessly without flash.

works fine on cm7 21

Its not perfect. n22 has gotten the YouTube app functioning, but TubeXL still plays standard (and full HD) much better than the YouTube app as it stands now. Im happy to see a lot of ppl have tried it, over 200 downloads in one day.. I hope most of you feel its a great work around until YouTube issues are fully resolved.

Works nice for me.

YOUTUBE on 6800

Does anyone have a working solution for YouTube on the 6800? I've searched everywhere and tried everything implied, but I still can't get it working. I've tried all the flash video packs, TCPMP, WMP, HTC Streaming Media Player (which won't cook for some reason, I get errors.) Nothing is working. And I love youtube. And i Need it! It's how people that should never be remembered for anything are remembered for something. And I have long breaks of downtime at work.
So if someone has a working solution, would you please do a short writeup or post the files here? Thanks
I use TCPMP and Flash Video Bundle. You need to get the new flash video bundle to do this because youtube changed some stuff.
Found my information here:
http://www.pocketnow.com/index.php?a=portal_detail&t=news&id=5094
Search for youtubeplay it just came out. Works pretty nice, fastest way to play them yet.
I use skyfire browser and it works with no additional DL's, hollowood.com, any trailer on "those sites" and I can go to flash sites with no issue.
I never got any of those DL's to work on my 6800, so I just use the browser.
skyfire.com
ok so I got youtubeplay and it works good. thanks!
kickass
I'll have to try youtubeplay. Looks promising.
The only thing is that it only plays youtube videos, while the TCPMP FlashVideoBundle also plays video from other sites as well.
i def like that tcmp/flashvideo does other sites, and lets u download the video, but the interface of youtubeplayer is nice. def better if u know what ur looking for. someone posted this comment in the youtubeplayer thread, but it would be nice if eventually, the interface was improved to look more like the shhh....iPhone, but im sure it will improve anyways
tcmp/flashvideo best out there!
dont guess you would post the skyfire installer? the web site says the beta testing sign-up is over.
Thanks.
Skyfire requires you to register and asks for your mobile number. When you try it on 2 devices it tells you to deactivate Skyfire on your other device to use it on this one. Sorry or I would post it too.
Try this one, works for me.. also works for watching TV in full screen.

That cab does not install on my 6800. I copied it to my storage card and clicked on it - get an error message saying it did not install.

Skyfire remains as a locked beta and is not open to public use. Your bragging ain't helping one here in the now..
Try downloading vtap, it gets videos from tons of sites, and is easy to use. Its interface is similiar to that of the Iphone, and I have been using it alot, it works well.

youtubeplay is a very promising YouTube Player in development by milesmowbray located here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=385227
How bout youporn ? Anything play those???
The new beta youtube player is very basic but fast software. One another way it to search for youtube through orb and simply play any youetube video in any player of your choice.

Net Flix

Here's the new Netflix app that was just released for the evo. i installed it and it plays audio but no video. maybe someone can figure out how to get it work to work for our phones. it says it has G2 support figured it would work since the Shift is just like the G2.
Worked for one movie.
I just loaded the apk attached by the OP.
Worked on my Shift!! I just played a Mystery Science Theater 3000 movie and got video and sound. MST3K:Hercules Against the Moon Men
Tried other movies, which didn't work -- just went back to the queue.
EDIT: Okay, just resumed the same movie and it stopped working. Tried resuming the same movie 3 times, and it worked again, then stopped. Not seeing any pattern.
Yeah, it is not working for me ether. I get to the netfix loading screen and then it just brings me back to the queue.
I tried several other movies. The Sorcerer's Apprentice also worked, but only after attempting to load it 4 times. When the movies does start, it works perfectly. If you stop it, then try to resume, it may or may not work. I guess we'll just have to wait for Netflix to get the bugs out.
i read somewhere that they edited the build.prop for on a nook color and got it to run perfect
I got it to work perfectly. I am running bcnice20 Desire Z port which may or may not have an effect on netflix running. I played many different shows from my queue and searching. Thought I would share for what its worth.
i got it running on my rom. gotta have flash 10.3, and drm.apk, and the other 2 apks that start with pmt. no build.prop editing necessary. audio and video. sense rom only.

Can you attach the additional apk's you are saying are necessary. Trying to get this running for a friend on his shift but I don't have the device with me so I am just downloading to my evo then transferring files when i see him.
The flash update alone should get it working. That's how it is across the fourms and etc. Stock is fine. Problem occurs when its CM7
Sent from my Evo Shift running CM7
Yeah,I have problems running net flix and I use cm7. I have the latest updates. I'm a update fanatic ^=^ but only if its better. And Netflix sucks. I want to watch ninja scrolls movie and it didn't let me. I cries

CM7 vs Stock
I could get audio but no video with CM7 fully updated with flash and what not. I am restoring the stock ROM now. I'll see if it works.
Thats a no go
Stock rooted can't even start playing. humm.
Did you update everything after you flashed to stock?
Sent from my Evo Shift running CM7
I can't return to stock. My md5 messed up. Not that I truly care. Besides. I blame evervolv for doing it
Sent from my EVO shift 4G running CM 7.0.3.1 via the XDA app
Yeah, I updated everything i could see in the market... including flash.
Yeah running mikshift 1.1 here, have flash 10.3, no dice. I even tried the build prop edit to both htc vision and nexus s. Still says not supported.
This worked for me on CM7 Nightly #75:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1076150
I'm using the device check disabled .apk.
^ Shift Faced
Worked beautifully on NFX Stock for an episode of Blue's Clues for my kid in the car yesterday. Tried to load a movie at work today and it wouldn't play, but I get ****ty 3G at work. Will try again at home tonight.
Also works for me on cm7 Nightly 75 W netflix disable apk
but ... anime seem to play smoothly anything anything live action seems a bit slow, think that is is something they will fix when it officially comes to shift?
anyone else notice it playing a little laggy e.g The Office
worked for me but i see an update for netflix in my apps. i figure if i update then it prob wouldnt work.?? sprint stock rom

crackle is on!

I just watched ghostbuster on my NC running (from sdcard) CM7.03 with Dal's 5/13 kernel. I watched for 10 minutes (gotta go) and I have not a single skip frame, and sound is fine (using headphone). It does drain the battery pretty quickly
Our little NC is really amazing... Hats off to the develops for their amazing work!
Doesn't show up in my Market. CM7 n100. Can't install it from the web either. Weird. It's the first app I've had a problem with over the market on my NC.
I couldn't find it in the market either, so I grabbed it on my EVO.
Here's the apk.
It just keeps getting better everyday with this device. Just when u think that's it!

I installed it and when I run it it says flash is missing (so I assume it uses flash). I installed flash but I still get the message to install flash when I try to watch a movie. DO I have to reboot after installing flash?
Edit: Did a reboot and it worked just fine, so I guess the reboot was needed.
Does this look like a slideshow for anyone else? I'm running cm7 n106 with Dal's latest OC and Flash 10.3, and the movies are unwatchable slideshows... :-(
Yes sir, as advertised. Thank you app GOD's.
Bay Boys Bay Boys, whatchu gonna do. Whatchu gonna do when they come for you.

Not sure what you mean by slideshow? It works fine for me. It got slightly jerky sometimes, but usually smoothed out again fairly quickly.

For me, the audio is fine, but the video looks like a continuous PowerPoint slideshow... even at a fixed 1200 MHz.
Very pixelated
Not getting a sharp image. Running at 1200 and still looking bad any ideas on how to fix this would help.
**It was only the commercial (HTC ad) before the movie that came out pixelated. Movie was fine although was getting minor skips here and there. **
doesn't wanna work for me when i try to play a movie it just stays on the loading screen
Plays pretty well for me on the CM 7.0.3 OC to 1300.
I do get some frame skipping here and there, but overall it's a pretty good experience.
Not as good as Netflix, but pretty watchable...
I don't get the frame skip on my Incredible.
Then again, this apk is not set up for tablets.
Lego
I get the blurry HTC add as well but when the movie loads...it looks fine.
Also...on the right side of the screen I get a vertical white line like it doesn't fit to the entire screen. Anyone else get that?
yeah, crackle, is running fine on my NC. I also have this vertical white line, is this normal? maybe I'll try to change my LCD density
Nightly 112, OC 6/18 kernel @ 1325, this just sits at the circle loading screen, rebooted as well, same thing.
This is Awesome! Thanks OP
I was having the endless loading circle and couldn't play a video, but after applying Aces hulu fix ,crackle is money now. A little pixlelated at first but smooth sailing from there, and I did see the white lines prior to the flash/hulu fix even without actually seeing video but its gone now.

I've got the white line too. I couldn't find crackle on the market so I installed it from the posted apk.
Posted apk didn't work for me, instead I downloaded it to my n1, made a titanium backup, transferred it to the nook and restored via titanium.
App works fine now.

[Q] Best versatile build.prop Market Fix?

As I go through yet another build.prop market fix, I can't help but wonder: is there a build.prop market fix (or any kind of fix) that gives you the best of both worlds (all 2.x and 3.x apps are visible in the market, working Flash Player, runs 3.x apps and maybe even Netflix)? If not, anything close to it (I can live without running 3.x apps)?
P.S. - If possible, I prefer to stick with Froyo/2.2 since the display quality and video playback & hardware acceleration performance has been superior to 2.3.x and 3.x ROMs in my experiences so far.
HTC Vision gets Netflix good for GB. I also don't notice anything missing from the market. Guess you could use vegan 5.1.1 and throw in the Netflix patch and then mod build.prop and see what happens. Breaks YouTube app by the by but browser viewing still works peachy.
You can't run 3.0 (Honeycomb) code on 2.3 (Gingerbread) or 2.2 (Froyo).
No build.prop will ever give you that.
The build.prop is the properties of your build....ie what OS, manufacturer, some basic settings and such. Edits of it may allow you to see certain things in the Market but seeing them doesn't mean they will install or run.
If you want Netflix (and now Hulu Plus), CM7.03 stable is your best option. It also sees nearly everything that will function on the tablet in the Market.
I miss nothing from VEGAn5.1.1 now that I'm on CM7.03. I've gained a ton (better stability, WiFi location services, better market (no fixes needed) access, Netflix, etc...
I keep hearing CM 7.0.3 is the best option. It still doesn't have native Nvidia drivers, correct?

That's correct, but they did add in some hardware acceleration code of their own to improve video playback. It's not perfect, but most videos seem to work pretty well for me.

Worked like a charm... except [modded/patched] Netflix doesn't play video for me (it looks like its going to play, shows play/pause and seek control but goes back to the main screen almost immediately). No biggie, I rarely watch Netflix anyway.
I see everything in the market and all the T/HD games actually run. Thanks!
You can clear app data for netflix from manage apps then fix permissions with cwm. This fixes a lot of Netflix issues (chipmunk, slo-mo, bad banding)

Did you just change the device to HTC Vision? Or did you copy a complete build.prop from somewhere? Link?
Thank you!
I just changed it to HTC Vision in build.prop. Netflix also works now (from the Market).

Crackle App

So I tried this on my tab and I only get audio. Funny thing is that it doesn't work on my DROID at all. Cool think is that the website works fine via standard browser. Watching mib over wifi right now in 480p

Btw if anyone wants the app to mess around with it let me know and ill throw it up.

droxid,
Could you upload the apk for it.
So this is the app that I got off the market and sideloaded on my tab.
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6EAVXY7P
My issue is that I get audio but no video. Let me know what you guys get.
On a side note....video through browser works flawlessly.
audio works but picture doesn't.
Has anyone had any luck with this?
Works fine in just the browser.
There is a new version showing up in the market for Honeycomb tablets.... but it won't allow me to download it. Says it's a "developer test".
I read an article that it's now available for the Asus Transformer. Hmmmmm. Wonder where.
Also, it's advertised as coming with the new Sony tablets.
