[Q] Help! - Optimus One, P500, V General

Okay so I just got this phone 2 days ago. I was waiting for the unlock code and I decided to stupidly try to root it first. Anyway so I was about 1/2 way through with the root process and I misunderstood some steps but before I could finish my code came through.
I kinda had to jump through some hoops (had to go into phone to punch in 2945#*500# and then the unlock code) but the process seemed to succeed. I should mention, it was having trouble with my sim card (Which was not the same carrier[Sim is Fido .. the phone is for Koodo]) with force closes of the phone while hte sim was in, so I turned it on and unlocked it without the sim in.
Anyway so now when I turn on the phone, the phone process just force closes everytime and it pretty much makes the phone unusable with the force close of the phone popping up every few seconds.
Does anyone know how to fix this? I think the problem could be caused by the fact that I was running the 2.2 Telus firmware during the process of unlocking (I couldn't find a 2.2 firmware for Koodo) ... it's back to koodo again tho but it's still like that ... I've flashed it back using KDZ.

Okay some things that might help...
I just popped in the Koodo sim to see if it does anything (it's deactivated tho) ... the phone app doesn't force close ...
Also I noticed something a little peculiar about the sim cards. My fido one has a larger gold surface area and the koodo sim has a smaller one. I've added a photo to compare .. the contacts seem to line up just fine but maybe there's a difference?

Okay I should probably get some sleep cuz this is absolutely driving me nuts lol.
Anyway I just remembered I had a Tmobile simcard still lying around from my vacation to the US last year. So I went ahead and popped it in. no force closes ...
So I think it's probably my Fido simcard is too old? I've tried cleaning it with some alcohol.

Uhh, you can try doing a factory reset (deletes stuff).
home + vol. down + power when powering on.
EDIT: Also, you don't need root to unlock a phone

yea I've tried multiple factory resets
(soft, hard) with the sim and without it ... no dice.
I was just rooting it to install a custom kernel and see how the phone works when it's OCed. I wished it was possible to unlock by the rooting it
edit: I guess I should also mention, the fido sim works just fine in my Motorola Milestone *shrug*

So I've pretty much confirmed for some reason my Fido sim can't be read. I just popped in a friend's Roger's sim card .. and it works fine. I made a phone to confirm as well.

[Q] X10i upgrade R2BA026 restarts abruptly

Hi,
I got an X10i from UK Vodafone, and upgraded its firmware in India through SEUS, and it was clean installation to R2BA026, but the moment I started using it, every time I use some app the phone switches off. Its very inconsistent.
I tried below with no luck
reinstall
removed some apps
Killed some apps
I worried that many in talk.sonyericsson.com/message/10001 say that its hardware issue, but I dont think so.
Can anyone help with some solutions?
Mod's please move this if this is not the right place to post this.
Have you tried to OTA update your x10? If this won't work you may should root your phone or try to downgrade it to an older firmware!
SE will launch eclair soon, this will also fix phone!!!
I got exactly the same here. Phone reboots in a loop or even crash without a reason. Sometimes it couldn't come up, while activating SIM / phone. After that message appears the phone is still in loop and reboots again.
I am going to downgrade now to 024 firmware. It's driving me crazy...will post if I have luck.
Well I figured out, that the problems we have are a bit more strange as expected. I read that the problem is because of the overheated battery. Once happend, the battery isn't working properly anymore. So only SE Customer Service can help. Today I'm going to a Sony store to explain my problem with the phone. Hope I'll have luck.
I nearly forgot to post the details: http://talk.sonyericsson.com/message/12816#12816
I got the same problem and tried everything to fix it but nothing helped. As soon as mobile switches on it restarts and goes into a boot cycle.
I figured out that the mobile restarts mainly when it needs to read something from the sim card. I swapped my old sim with a new sim and found that the restart problem was solved instantly. I tried again with another bad sim and the restart loop starts again.
Bad sim cards slide into the sim card slot very easily and hence the pins connection are loose which tends to make the mobile unstable while reading or writing from/to sim.
The easy method to solve this problem is by making the sim a little thick by sticking a piece of paper on the back side of sim.
From my personal experience bad sim is main cause of restart cycle.
Try to swap sim cards, if it works let us know.
Thanks
Hi,
Thanks for the details.
I tried both the sim cards, I have GSM Vodafone, and BSNL 3G, both has the problem, very similar.
The same worked earlier with R1XXXX very well.
However, will try the Sim trick with a paper on the back side, which afix the sim tightly.
Thanks,
Naveen.KK
Hi,
I have tried the sim trick with no luck.
Some one help.
Thanks,
Naveen.KK
its not related to sim or firmware
it is not related to sim or software, it might me with some handsets but it is completely a hardware problem...dont believe me use your phone without sim and memory card and play some game or just keep on playing with your phone
it will turn off and you have to remove battery for few seconds otherwise it wont start
this topic is covered on sony site mentioned above and other threads, this is not just happening to me or some of us...its with many of us
changing firmware, sim , memory card tried everything no luck
m using iphone now and miss big x10 screen and better colors
One week ago I sent my phone to SE. I'll get a report with my X10 back. So till now I don't have heard nothing from SE. I'll tell you what's in the report, if I get it back. By now I am playing with my oldschool N80 :-(
Hi I observed one thing weird here.
I have reset the mobile, and when it asked for APN settings, i disabled MMS&data, phone seems to be working little stable, goto check for some time, and try playing games on it.
Thanks,

The MMS and Data settings seem to be the problem.
When I used my old sim which was disabled, it worked fine with everything. When I enable my APN and MMS settings in my new sim and start browsing the net and downloading stuff it restarts there.
I think the problem is somewhat related to internet browsing on mobile.
What app do you use to browse internet on your Xperia?

[Q] Atrix 4g WiFi not working

Hey guys,
i have the atrix 4g on which i used a simunlock code, so that i coudl put in my sim card from a european carrier, that works great, but the thing is the WiFi stopped working, it just went into a scanning/connecting loop and than it disconnects.
So i factory restored it and figuered out that s soon as i put in a working sim card (one that has cellular reception), the WiFi starts to behave like that and to get it to work i have to factory restore again without a sim card or with a nonworking sim card.
So i tried the motorola support and they said ye hardware issue, send in the phone, my problem however is im in europe right now and i cant really send or get the phone to motorola USA and they totally refuse to send it to an address outside of the US. However im 100% sure its a software issue (both things work for itself, and the thing that even removing the sim card doesnt restore the wifi funcionality makes me think there is some software issue).
So please guys if anyone has an idea how i could fix that i would be really greatful. Btw i tried some of the apps from the market to "fix" wifi (fxr, wififix etc). Fxr said it fixed the wifi bit it still wouldnt connect, the other apps just had the same issue as the stock wireless manager.
Thanks for your time
Did.you use software to unlock it or just a code?

I have the exact same problem.
My phone is unlocked and can make calls, but WiFi disconnects me almost immediately. The phone also thinks my prepaid sim has H+ connectivity.
When I go back to my AT&T SIM, I have to do a reboot or 2 to get it cleared up, and then WiFi works again.
oh, i see that, i guess its some sort of ATT measure to block nonATT SIM cards, eventho the phone gets simunlock code. But the funny thing is there are a lot of people for whom it all works (like the guys in the unlock thread, using it in canada without a hitch), so im really wondering if this is not just a software glitch (i hope it is and gets fixed witht he 2.3 update..), otherwise my only hope are the devs here to crack wide open the bootloader and put some custom roms on it =/ really a great phone, but all this ATT software crap makes it feel like its an Iphone ...
But uhm still, anyone has any ideas how to try to fix this problem before the updates? =/

i also have a friend in saudi arabia who got the unlock code and the wifi is working fine.
only 2 people reported this so far. i guess it could be a hardware problem ? because the other user beside you have this problem even without sim installed " or that what i understood from him "
you can check the other thread too. maybe someone could post something usefull.
hmm i see, where did you find that thread, i was sort of searching for ages and didnt find any issues like that =/
Ye i mean i have this problem without a sim aswell if i dont factory restore the phone, after i do that without a sim card however the WiFi works great...
so i am kind of reluctant to believe it being a hardware issue due to this, sort of software specific issue (at least i think if it would be hardware related, the wifi would start working as soon as i go to airplane mode/take out the sim and a factory reset wouldnt be necessary), or do you think that my theory is rather flawed in thinking that?
and ye the problem is im in europe now and as the reps at motorola support told me, i would have to send the phone to the US for warranty and they would only send it back to an address within the US =/ i will try my luck with the german and uk support site, to see if they could do something for me.
thanks for your time guys tho
hey guys what do you think if i would use this code:
* 2767 * 3855 #
Think before you give this code. This code is used for formatting the original manufacturer. This will delete all files and settings, including internal memory storage. This will also reinstall the phone’s firmware.
To restore it to manufacturer (will it request an unlock code again after that?) cuz i have 2 codes to unlock but the first one worked, so maybe if i woudl try it with the second one than?
I just unlock my atrix with the code from cellunlock, works great and wifi is fine as well. Would like to know where u get the code, and how it turns out if u try reset to default using the combo. Pls update. Ths

I'm having the same issue of not being able to connect to WiFi.
I bought the phone in Las Vegas with an AT&T - pay as you go (no contract).
I bought an unlock code from SwiftUnlocks, and used my Rogers SIM, which appeared to work. I then rooted the phone.
Using the Rogers network, I've been unable to use any sort of data. Phone calls and texts work fine. Then I noticed that my WiFi was not working properly. It would try to obtain an IP address, but couldn't connect. After several reboots, I got the phone to connect to WiFi for a few minutes.
I just did a factory reset, now I'm unable to connect to any network or WiFi to login with MotorBlur, so I can't really use the phone now.
I'm quite frustrated and not sure what else I can do.
Update - after putting the original AT&T SIM card in, and rebooting several times, the WIFI started working again.
I'm still unable to get Data working over the Rogers network in Canada.

i am getting my phone in few hours, then i am going to order from cellunlock a code and wait for 2 days to get the lock. unless someone has a spare code he can pm me i would be thankful.
the code is IMEI specific, cant give oyujust spare codes
secondly, to get wifi to work you have to remove your sim card, put in the att or a nonworking sim card and do factory reset, than wifi will work. and you can load all the stuff via wifi, and than just put in your working sim and use the phone as a phone +3g data (the 3g data works great for me to be honest)
oh i got my code from swiftunlock but i dont think that matters, they all get it from teh same provider im pretty sure.
and if anyone si wondering t he sbf update did NOT fix my wifi problem. i ahve tried several wifi fix programs and neither worked aswell, the fxr wifi did some stuff that the phone now sees the networks but still cant connect.
this is to update everyone that i got the phone. had an issue about the screen doing lots of flickering. contacted amazon and sent it back.
in the whole process so far i lost around 60$ between importing and exporting the phone. all in all. i will stick with my iphone 4 for now. its a good phone.
but i cant take this sadness all over again if i imported another phone with an issue with it as well. i am too OCD for my own good.
so true what you say, tho im coming form a nokia 6220 classic, a bit older than the iphone 4
Hey GUYS...
I have the same problem.... My Bell Atrix WiFi works great with my Rogers SIM (I had someone unlock it for me), but when I put in my Qatar Qtel SIM, it stops working, and goes into that connect/scan/disconnect loop.
Any solutions?

[Q] Sim network unlock PIN:

I've had my Atrix 4g for about 10 days, never rooted or bootunlocked or anything like that, it's still 100% retail from AT&T. I've just made phone calls and fiddled with a few apps.
Today I had the bright idea to plug my old tmobile sim card into it thinking it'd boot right up and I could go into the settings and copy off some of my old contact numbers, I could always do it on older less than smartphones. Well it came up asking for a Sim network Unlock PIN. I didn't know what that was so I just took it out and put my old AT&T sim back into the phone, thinking it was just a failed endevour and that I would just go on about my business like it had never happened.
Well upon booting with the activated sim card the phone came with and the one I've been using... Much to my dismay, it's STILL asking for a Sim network Unlock PIN, I haven't the slightest idea what that is and I can't get past it unless I boot the phone up with no BP, then I can get into android and fiddle around on my wifi and do that kinda stuff but the Network Provider bars won't light up, it's like it has no idea who my cell provider is even though the at&t sim card is in it!
I'm at a loss, I called AT&T and I went into their store, but the most they could do for me was give me an 8 digit pin that didn't work and I found something on motorola's site that said something like 4digits of 1's and that doesn't unlock it either. They even gave me a new sim card at the store, and it's still asking for the Sim Network Unlock PIN. It's as if MOTOBlur has went ass up I did a factory reset after the new sim card, and yet it's still asking. I haven't the slightest idea what to do. AT&T said they'd just replace the phone and of course I'd probably be out of a phone for a couple weeks.
I'd be glad to try some troubleshooting if someone is willing to work with me.
Matt
bring your phone to a local at&t store and ask for a replacement.
Luckily they dont' have any in stock as they only have the atrix 2 in stock nowadays, so once again without for a couple weeks
Ya, I didn't think anyone would be able to help me here, other posts relating to this topic have gone unsolved as well worth a shot I guess.
It was posted elsewhere flashing a different carriers radio and then unlocking worked. Then the user was able to flash the newest radio for his carrier.
Sent from my MB860 using Tapatalk
I would love to flash, but I don't suppose I'd get another try if I accidentally flashed the wrong file...
I just wish I could flash it back to the way it was when it first came out of the AT&T box the other day...
I found someone who had a tmobile account and had them call for me using my imei number and they've requested an unlock code from motorola, so I'm going to wait for that and see what happens...
I still feel like there should be some kind of way to flash back to an original firmware someone might be able to copy off from an out of the box at&t atrix.
Are you sure you're not looking at the Motoblur account login?
positive, says Input Sim Network PIN and it stays resident regardless what sim is inserted.
It is kind of funny how the factory reset doesn't actually reset it back to factory conditions

All factory reset does is wipe the data partition, which would put it back in a "factory like" state.

[Q] Sudden SIM problems with GS2

About a week ago when I tried to use my phone it said no SIM card inserted. The SIM was in and unlocked as I had used the phone about an hour before without any problem. I rebooted the phone but still it said no SIM so I powered off, removed the SIM, cleaned it and tried again. Well after about an hour of messing around the phone started working normally again. I didn't do anything more about it and wrote it off as a glitch.
I woke up this morning looked at my phone at it was asking for my PUK unlock code. It seems as though the phone must have rebooted overnight or something and now it's asking for a PUK. Why would it do that? I can't unlock it as my copy of the PUK code has worn so I cannot see all the numbers any more so I'll have to go to my network provider.
My question what could be wrong with the phone that is starting to not recognise the SIM? The issue last week must have been a prelude to this and it's pointing to something failing in the hardware. Any ideas what can be causing this?
Did you flash any ROMs or Kernels? Because that may be the problem usually.

Please give more informationhone Model,Kernel,ROM...
Sorry should have given more information about the phone.
It's a UK GT-I9100 model running stock 2.3.4. I haven't flashed any Roms since updating to 2.3.4 over a year ago. I've been holding out for the UK Jellybean which I've just downloaded ready to go once I sort out this problem.
I think I read somewhere that moisture on the usb port may cause this problem but I can't find that any more and I'm not sure if I'm remembering it correctly either. Although, my phone has never been submerged or even got wet in the rain so I don't think it's moisture.
I just tried putting another SIM into the phone and it works fine. As soon as I put my SIM back in it asks for the PUK. I guess I'll need to go speak to my network provider. Would still like to know why I started having these SIM problems.

Dude,I think your SIM card got blocked.Go to your carrer provider, and ask them to unblock it
I went to my network provider and got the PUK and unlocked the SIM. I asked if they had blocked it or if had been blocked and they said no. They said I must have entered the SIM pin incorrectly which isn't the case as the phone was one and the SIM unlocked before I went to sleep. I put it into flight mode and the next morning when I looked at the phone it was asking for the PUK. That with the previous issue where the SIM wasn't being recognised points to something not quite right either with the hardware or software.
I'm going to be updating to 4.2.1 no that the UK version is available and see if the problems still continue.

No Service - All of a sudden - Have to do a SIM swap to get it working again

I have an Samsung S9 Plus that was an AT&T unit (I think) and I flashed it over to the global firmware so I could use it on Visible (Verizon). It has been working for months, but I have now had this problem happen twice. I get up on a Monday, and notice that my phone has no service. I think it says "No Network Connection" or something like that. The first time I tried many of the usual steps - switching airplane mode, resetting network, wiping the cache, long support chats with Visible. What finally got it working again was putting in another sim(from Red Pocket - AT&T). That made the phone go through a reboot to swap over to the new sim. Then I put the old Visible sim back in. The phone does another reboot, and now everything is working again.
Is there a way that I can get the phone to go through this process without swapping the sims? I would just like to know if there is a more efficient way of fixing this problem when it pops up.

Call your carrier and have them to a reprovision. I had this happen with T-mobile coming from Sprint.. They will have you turn off the phone, do something on their end, and after that it should work.
Just to update, I have switched over to ATT Prepaid. Since the change, I have not had the problem happen. I think it must have been an issue with Red Pocket. Either that or something that got fixed with an update. Just putting these data points out there for anyone else that is having issues like this.
