[Q] Flash ATT Locked Dell Streak to 345 Rom?? - Streak 5 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi I have a factory Unlocked Dell Streak that Im using with Simple Mobile and Ive upgraded to 345 & rooted..
now my friend has a Dell Streak from AT&T thats not unlocked..
he wants me to do the same to his but my question is
Can I flash the 345 rom to his Dell Streak thats not unlocked??
or can i only flash an ATT Rom to his Streak??
Thanks in advance

Yes you can, 345 is also an at&t rom. And you can flash streakdroid roms too, there is no need for your streak to be unlocked to flash roms. You only need to unlock your phine if you are going to use it with another service provider. Go ahead and flash the 345 and enjoy!

If you use QDL to get 2.2 can the phone be brought back to 1.6?

My buddy wants me to get 2.2 on his new Streak. He bought a locked ATT one. I found that there's a tool called QDL that flashes EU software to the phone by bypassing some security stuff. I don't see it as an issue as the only difference between the EU and US is the carrier lock. My friend wants to know that, if for some reason the phone fubars, can we run some sort of recovery to bring the phone back to 1.6? Basically back to it's original state.
Also, once you run the tool does the phone accept the EU OTAs?
Any ideas?

I'd like to know also. In case I want to try the att 2.2 release ...... oh wait, I probably wont have this phone for 2 years

Used qdl on my friends at&t locked streak and it put US 2.2 on it build 305 then I manually flashed to build 309 then 318. It should still get the US ota updates as the build and baseband version show up just like my unlocked streak does.

Where do you get the 309 & 318 updates? How are they flashed? Stock or CWM recovery? Are they updates that need to be installed in order or full packages where I can just flash the latest?

You can find download links on xda or let me know and I can send them to you. not sure if they have to be installed in order or not.
I flashed them using the stock recovery.

Its funny, I still can not find an answer to the original question. Is it possible to get back to the original at&t 1.6 rom, say for warranty/return purposes?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
It should be possible by following the guide at modaco.com. It takes you from 1.6 to 2.2 and has a process to go back.
If you can't find the links let me know and I will dig them up. I used that guide on my first streak. Got to froyo then back to donut when I had to send it back.

You were supposed to flash through the system recovery app's recovery, but anyways back to your question. If you follow directions on how to do things im sure you'll be fine off, as of now the only way to hardbrick is to sbf back when you have the ota installed,

Are you sure that your old atrix is hardbricked? Sounds like it would be more of a softbrick unless your old atrix had Gingerbread. Eitherway, it sounds fixable.

Look in the stickies section of Atrix development forum. And find the sbf for unlocked bootloader. Or if u just want the blur UI try the Aura Rom. It has a lot of mods but the theme is basically stock.

You will never get brick by flashing/restoring through recovery.

hey, I think i have the same problem, i have an atrix with cyanogenmod-7-12112011-nightly-olympus, Android version 2.3.7
And i would like to know if its posible to get the original settings if I back up another atrix from the same carrier (telcel - MExico), so i can get rid of the cyanogen and i can have it with factory settings.
If its posible, can anyone help me and tell me how to do it?
thank you very much

It is quite easy once you have done it a couple of times. I used to flash my x10 on a daily basis. Sometimes 3 or 4 times a day because I was bored or several ROM updates came at once lol
