Help with HTC_IME - Atrix 4G Themes and Apps

Alright, I have the HTC_IME.apk directly from http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1035327
Tried to throw it on my atrix (rooted with sideloading enabled of course) and when I tried to install it it says:
Parse error: There is a problem parsing the package.
I've been trying to figure out a solution for a while now, but I am not quite sure where to start. Any help?

Is it a signing issue, or is there something I can do? I know I'm a noob. I don't even need an answer, just point me where to get started, besides "google" cause I got that far .

I'm pretty sure its one of the ones you dont need to install, just place in the /system file and it should be recognized, just make sure the permissions are set correctly (to rw-r-r)

Alright. Now, how do I do that not the permissions part, but moving it to the /system folder. I'm not quite sure on how to mount it as writeable, app to do that?

rootexplorer can do both, it's not free but its fairly inexpensive and well worth the change for how good a tool it is.

Thank you, it still didn't work yet, but I have a place to start . Love the HTC_IME and qHD screen of the atrix, hopefully I can make them love eachother or something.

Try putting it in the /system/app folder, set permissions to rw-r-r, then reboot for good measure.

Accidentally Deleted mms.apk

So.. in trying to put a new messaging app on I deleted my mms.apk I had a backup of it but when I try to install it it says "There is a problem parsing the package".
Is there a way to fix this without reflashing the whole ROM?
thanks,cale
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=894794
If you have the original ROM that you flashed, unzip it, go in to /system/app and find the mms.apk
once you have that adb push it to the /system/app folder of your phone and youre good to go.
I haven't tried it but maybe using root explorer will work also if you don't have adb set up
hope this helps
Darn it, since this is posted in the wrong section, I got excited thinking there was a new mms.apk you were releasing..................................

Touche.. you are correct.. wrong section. My apologies, was working on the phone at the same time and not paying attention.
Hopefully a mod will shortly move it to the correct section..

I was just messing. Even if you find the correct apk, it probably isnt going to install for you - just push it to system/app and reboot and it will be working again.

No worries.. unfortunately I don't really know how to use ADB so just pushing it is a bit tricky for me. Working on it now.. but getting a bit lost.

Just use the app I linked in the above post. Go to the system section, choose either AOSP or the TW option, click generate zip and flash it with clockwork. Mms recovered
Sorry birgertime.. not ignoring your suggestions.. just didn't really want to learn a new program.. thanks though.
Guess I can put off ADB for another day as Root Explorer worked fine.. once I could move the file instead of copy it I had no problems. New mms that I wanted is installed. Well spent 4 bucks.. Root Explorere seems nice.
Thanks for everyones help.

I flashed the sweet Honey Rom which rocks . But even though it's touchwiz the buddies now widget isn't there.
How can I get it?
You can pull it from any older touchwiz based roms and then push it in /system/app and it will show up.
Tried that.
Didn't work .
Did you try the bloater app?
Edit: not on bloater app , sorry. Swore I saw it on the app

You need to long press after copying to system/app and change permissions to rw-r--r--,like attached screen.
I use root explorer, from market and have mount set to R/W.

[REQ] HTC Sense 3.0 LWP

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=977912
Does anyone know if there is a working version for the Atrix? Id love to get this to work.
Thanks.
I'm no expert, and it's not my style, but I'll give it a try and report back in a few minutes.
EDIT: I got it partially working, I installed the apk in the zip, and moved the files in the system/lib directory of the zip file to /system/lib. after that you can use the wallpaper without a force close, but it doesn't fill the screen. I'll try one more thing and include a screenshot.
you'll need to pull the files from an htc device that is qhd. I think the sensation is qhd, but I'm not sure.

nope it's not as simple as an apk install. I'll write up something tomorrow and include the files in a .zip.

If you stuff your phone I take no, zero, none, nada, zip, zilch responsibility for it.
The following method is for adb, you could most likely use root explorer of file expert, but you need a file manager that lets you remount system as read/write. It assumes you know how to get the files to your phone/sd-card and have the android sdk, and know how to use it. I also assume that you know how to backup, have backed up and know how to restore (nandroid, rom manager, tibu, whatever).
1. Start a windows command prompt; if you can't do this, then stop right here.
2. type 'adb shell'
3. see code block below
Code:
su (accept prompt on phone if needed)
mount -o remount,rw /dev/mmcblk0p12 /system
cd [PATH TO FILES]
cp Mode10Wallpapers.apk /system/app
chmod 644 /system/app/Mode10Wallpapers.apk
cp libicule.so /system/lib
chmod 644 /system/lib/libicule.so
cp libiculx.so /system/lib
chmod 644 /system/lib/libiculx.so
cp libmode10_alpha.so /system/lib
chmod 644 /system/lib/libmode10_alpha.so
cp libmode10_wallpapers.so /system/lib
chmod 644 /system/lib/libmode10_wallpapers.so
cp libmode10Graphics_alpha.so /system/lib
chmod 644 /system/lib/libmode10Graphics_alpha.so
You should now see the HTC Sense LWP option in your live wallpaper selector. If not reboot and see if that does it. Setting the permissions is key.
You can do the same with root explorer/file expert by copying the files to the appropriate folder (apk to /system/app and the *.so to /system/lib) and changing permissions, you just have to remount /system as read/write for the files to actually copy over.
If you stuff your phone I take no, zero, none, nada, zip, zilch responsibility for it.
First time I tried this I did a bulk chmod on /system/lib and on the next reboot
I was stuck in recovery. So as painstaking as it is the one by one method of copying and permission setting is the safest (for me at least).
THIS IS NOT CWM FLASHABLE
Thanks for this!
Im lost! when I get to "cp Mode10Wallpapers.apk /system/app" dos tells
me that there is no such file, and doesn't do anything..
I have it on my C:\ just sitting there... no special file or folder.
Anyways, what does the "CP" stand for? just curious...
Thanks!!! Looking so forward to this

are the files on your phone? I had mine in /sdcard/download/htclwp. so the line of "cd [LOCATION OF FILES]" for me is cd /sdcard/download/htclwp
all the commands listed are for once you have an adb shell session running.
I'll update my post to include that bit.
cp is a linux/unix command for copy.

if it's force closing then you should recheck the permissions on all the files (and make sure they all copied over), and try a reboot. this does work.

Fix for GPS issues in Gingerbread

I found a fix on XDA forums right here. Instead of 'asia' I input north-american into the gps.conf file. For those of you that don't want tolook for the file, I have supplied the gps.conf file for you to download right here. Post responses with how well this works. Works 100% of the time for me nearly instant locks on all gingerbread ROM's I put on my device.
If you are downloading my file, simply use adb to push it to /system/etc/ and you are golden.
**Warning|Disclaimer|Blah Blah**
If you brick your phone I am not responsible ... yadda yadda, ya'll know the drill.
thank you! that did solve the problems i've been having with the latest cm builds.
Wow! Thank you so much! I went from a 2+ minute lock to a <20 second lock.
I did find a method to make this adjustment simpler. I used root explorer, available in the market, then simply copied your 'gps.text' file to system/etc. I then deleted the gps.conf file and renamed gps.text to gps.conf. Finally, I rebooted and opened maps, enabled gps, and waited for a lock. Then, after I was locked I did one final reboot and behold, locked in less than 20 seconds.
So, maybe not simpler but it can all be done without adb, straight from the phone.
Nevertheless, thank you, thank you, annnnnd thank you!

Did you guys use his file or make your own? Mine already said North America but was missing the extra servers.
skulnik, is your phone s-off? I can never make that kind of change with root explorer. It acts like it did something, but it doesn't. Same with ADB if the phone is on.
I read on another thread that apparently if you are s-off, you need to go into recovery, mount system and then use adb to push the files.
I am not sure this worked for me though, once I got the file in there, nothing much changed. I used the old fix which involved putting the cm6 gpslib.so file into the system/etc folder. Using both, I seemed to get a quick lock.
I made flashable fix for myself that includes both fixes and the wifi fix (just in case) and things seem better on both CM7 and the xm rom based on CM7.
The extra servers is what made the difference for me. Glad that this is helping. I stopped using cm7 for the longest time because GPS wouldn't lock for me. I loaded the xm7 and is was so awesome I just HAD to find something to make GPS work because I rely on it all the time. Downtown San Antonio is very easy for me to get lost in and MapQuest was never reliable.

I used a different file after reading his method. However same concept of replacing the config file. I'm just rooted without s off. Another method to replace the file is to mount via clockwork and use android commander to push the file. FYI after this i now I get an accurate gps lock in under 10 seconds.

Just want to make sure i get the steps right, all i have to do is unzip the .zip file, put gps.conf in platform-tools folder for android sdk, run adb and type "adb push gps.conf /system/etc/" right? It's been a while since i did any sort of work with adb, so i don't want any major goof-up.

You could do that or a more foul proof method would be to use android commander. Just mount the system in clockwork plug your phone in "assuming you already have adb, jdk etc. Installed" and push it that way. Android commander is pretty much a gui for adb... also could push it in terminal emulator if you were feeling adventurus. hope this helps. Android commander is most likely going to be the safest method for you. That way you can easily do a backup of the file. Though I would do a nandroid backup just to be safe.

hmm can't imagine why it would be different for you. Did you push the correct GPS file for your location & confirm that it took the change /view the file after you pushed the file/rebooted your phone?
Yeah, took the midwest file & moved it to the system/etc folder & removed the old file., did it all w/ root explorer rebooted the phone & everything... got the same performance as I did before, 2 min or so for a lock. Then consecutive, immediate locks as long as I didn't leave the maps app alone for too long.. @ one point I wound up using gpsfix to actually get a damn lock, it was so bad....
I'll just have to settle for slow locks.

Hmm. I wonder if it's a hardware or driver problem. One thing I did want to note; I had tried using the latest version of root explorer to replace the file, mounting the system as write, etc prior to using adb. The result showed the file as being replaced however after rebooting to confirm changes the file was back to default. It might be worth double checking the file to confirm that the replacement actually took. If not possibly mount the system in clockwork and push the file using adb.
Hmmmmm, good call, I DID make sure to mount the system as r/w as opposed to r/o but I didn't chk to see if the file got overwritten by the system on restart (if I'm understanding you correctly?).
I'll try it again, this time using adb...

Sometimes bootanimations are put there.
I had a problem with bootanimations and no matter what I did, I still got a different one, but when I SBF to 2.3.4, it worked again. so check data\local and if that doesn't work, maybe a SBF will.

Try just mounting /system as r/w and media will be included.
I wouldn't go messing wit permission on system folder manual checking boxes. Only time I did that I had to sbf lol...but I was changing /system permission using checkboxes

Did u try reboot and start again?
It SHOULD allow u to mount system r/w
That is if u are rooted. Lol
All u should have to do to be able to do stuff to /system files is touch the gray button on top that says Mount r/w
it should change.to saying " mount r/o" when ur system is editable.
Does it gave DIRECTLY to the left of that gray button "r/w" after the total memory used/available?
Oh...I'm awake now.
It works when the button displays Mount R/O.
I read it as that meant it was currently set to Read/Only.
Not that was to toggle it to R/O.
