[Q] timescape replacement

Since we cant use timescape on freex10, is there an app that does the same thing? Basicaly just a widget that displays facebook updates and call log in the same feed
maybe there's a moded timescape for free x10
make a little search
That is something I'd also be very interested in. Is there any app/widget that brings together
- Call list
- SMS/MMS
- Emails
- Facebook
- Twitter
- maybe other news like XDA-threads or so...
The idea of having all the things together in one single timeline is really nice. Right now i use the current Wolfbreak-ROM, but the timescape that can be used with that ROM unfortunately does not show any email-messages :-(.
Does anyone know of such an application?
I got working timescape on wolfbreak rom.everything work
Sent from my X10i using XDA App

[Q] GoogleSync not working after removing apps.!

Hello.
I removed some apps and suddenly Sync function with gmail stoped working.
Is it possible thats bcuz i removed Gtalk? and everything related to it?
I also removed some other apps like se branded email, home screen, google maps.
Could i ask any one of you to share with me your Gtalk and everything related to it, i didnt backup my when i uninstalled it.
If any of you know why it is broken tell me.
Do you use the mini or the pro?
You can remove gtalk but never the provider. Google uses talk to communicate with their server
Sent from my U20i using XDA App
Oh im sorry I have forgoten, I use x10 mini pro

Can you safely uninstal Backup and Restore default App?

Can you safely uninstal Backup and Restore default app? It gets on my nerves because it keeps running, and if I kill it, the whole phone reboots. But it reall needs to be safe because removing Talk already messed up my ability to download from Market.
Thanks.
Yes you can, you will have no problem after removing it.
About Google Talk... you can remove Google Talk but you must NOT remove gtalkservice cause the market app wont work after that (as you already said).
I always remove the following apps:
backupandrestore
datatrafficswitch.apk
facebook
GeoTag
Google Maps
Google Maps (Street)
Google Talk
neoreader
officelauncher
officeupdateservice
pccompanion
Peggle
playnowappinstaller
playnowback
playnowclient
ReadyToRun
roadsync
semcemailsmall
SEMCSetupWizard
SnsContactImageCacheProvider
stk
sync
syncwizard
timescapepluginmanager
timescapeprovider
Timescape-smallui
trackid
uWlopProvider
VoiceSearch
wisepilot
By the way, i'm using Flashtool application to remove the abovementioned apps.
I just use Root Uninstaller from Market because I'm a dummy. Can't learn the heavier stuff for the life of me.
So I will upadte servce to fix my phone and do it all again.
If DID in fact remove Talk And Talk service! So if I leave the service alone it should be fine?
Since you seem very knowledgeable, I also removed default sms app and delivery reports in Handcent stopped working. Is it best I leave default app alone?
Thanks so much!
(Oh, btw, I was told to leave sync alone?)

Yep, gtalkservice is needed by Market so you should just remove Google Talk.
Unfortunately i cant answer your question about sms but it seems logical to leave the default sms app alive and kicking in your phone.
The 2 sync services are the ones who are used by the SonyEricsson Sync Service which i dont use at all!
Google mail/contacts/calendar work normally including PCCompanion/Outlook sync.
PS: I'm really a noob you know. I just like sharing the little things i know!
Interesting, I have removed both Google Talk Service and Google Talk Storage and I can still download from the market.

Storage or service?
I uninstalled both with Titanium Backup
Lucky ladies! My market stopped working without gtalkservice.
@xeperiaforme:
Have you tried to copy the conversations.apk using Root Explorer to the /system/app folder and set the permissions similar to what the other applications have: rw-r--r-- ? You then have to reboot your phone.
The same with gtalk and gtalk service provider.
Untill you manage to get the stock messaging back you can do this (I have checked this by removing the stock messaging on my phone and sensing an sms from handcent to another turned off phone and got the delivery report when that phone was turned on; until then, the sms status was pending):
For delivery reports in Handcent, don't use the handcent menu - delivery rpt.
Instead go to the handcent menu - settings - notification settings - sent notifications - check "notify when message is received (needs carrier support)".
Then go to Receive message settings - check "Delivery reports" and uncheck Handcent delivery report.
If you notice the time stamps on the delivery reports are not correct because you are in a different time zone, the use the "set delivery report offset" to add or remove hours

Do the 2 sync srvices run on it's own and drain battery or did you just remove it because of freeing space?
For space mostly but they might consume some phone resources as well.
Oh thanks again And what are these for?:
semcemailsmall
SEMCSetupWizard
SnsContactImageCacheProvider
uWlopProvider
semcemailsmall --- sonyericsson email app (not gmail)
SEMCSetupWizard --- first boot setup wizard
SnsContactImageCacheProvider --- timescape
uWlopProvider --- timescape
there you go!!!
and some more details here

Here are some system applications from my stock 2.1 backup. Unzip the zip on your sd card and copy the apks you might have deleted to your /system/app folder. Don't forget to set proper permissions for the copied apks.
Thanks to both of you
Good stuff

sent from this midget x10 mini pro using cm7.2.3.3 14.5
you can delete conversations.apk from system/app folder
and rename handcent.apk to conversations.apk and push it to system/folder
with permisions r-w-r-r.
for me its way easier with root explorere, its all in phone, no computer required

"top contacts" widget app needed

Hello,
I wasnt sure we can remove all the junk/non junk apps without rooting the phone and i accidently removed "top contacts" widget app from my xperia s, i dont want to flash new rom to it already. So if someone would be so kind to post apk or a backup of this application i would be grateful.
any idea?
I have some snapshots of all apk's for xperia S, but im not sure which of them provides "top contacts" (favourite/starred contacts) widget, can someone check in titanium backup how its called ?
Top contacts
apk name: com.sonyericsson.androidapp.smart
You can get it from Play Store. Search for 'Top Contacts'.

1. There is no category in the Play store for widgets. Go to the Android App section and search "widget". This will bring up a list of widgets, but be aware that some only work with certain launchers.
2. (Assuming you've already set up your account) Click on the Gmail app, then click on your account, check the box for Email Notifications.
3. I uploaded my music to Google Play. You can stream from there or you can make your music available offline. I'm not sure how others handle their music.

To expand on the answer to #1... a lot of apps that you might install include widgets. For example, if you install Facebook, you'll find a Facebook widget in your drawer. In fact, this is how most widgets come, as part of a larger app. Some widgets come as a standalone (the ones you might find by just searching "widget")-- things like settings toggles and such -- but most come with apps.
And regarding #3... I use Google Play Music as well. It's fast and easy.

3 - if you have mp3 files, just drag and drop in windows. that's what i do. i don't think any other methods would be simpler than that.
