[28.June.2011][SDB] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.8 [GRJ22/Android2.3.4][K: tytung_r10] - HD2 Android SD Development

Since V2.9 no new ports from me because there are "official" versions from tytung:
http://sites.google.com/site/nexushd2android/nexushd2-gingerbread/releases
************************
previous version:
SD-port of the CLK-Build:
[28.June.2011][MAG/cLK] NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.8 [GRJ22/Android2.3.4][K: tytung_r10]
>>> Download-Link <<<
The version is almost unmodified.
Changes:
- SD-relevant adjustments
- added OI-Filemanager
This Build creates a 256MB data.img on the first start. If you want a larger phone storage, you can copy a bigger data.img in the android directory before the first start or replace the created 256MB file with a bigger one later (all previous data will be lost) or with the "update" (see below) edit the startup.txt to create another size.
older version:
NexusHD2-Gingerbread V2.7
UPDATE
Bluetooth values in my last version were wrong, if you had BT-Problems replace the rootfs.img from the build with the one from the archive "rootfs_new.7z" - also the cpu scaling governor now will be interactive with the new rootfs (as tytung recomands) - thanks tytung for the solution of this problem.

I've downloaded to have a look.
Is it OK with this to rename the folder and change the rel_path in startup.txt?
Or will this cause problems?

Dear HaPeWe . Is this a SD Build ? and can u post more info on your post , like Changelog , What is working , what is not . And some screenshot perhaps

He states it is an SD build - a port of tytung's nand build
All details will be in the link provided.

I've renamed the folder to NexusHD and everything appears to be good. Even the boot.anim blends in well as I use an Energy Winmo ROM.
I will do some more thorough testing and report back soon.
Good work
Cheers

Really good work, so far everything looks good and pretty smooth.
Any chance of keeping the key lights on until you turn the screen off?

I've just installed some apps and realised that the data.img is only 256MB
Can this be increased in a future version please?

You have to convince tytung, because I don't want to create a sub-build. This should be an almost 1:1 SD-port of his original build, also in future versions.

Thanks, will probably try this one as the NAND seems very popular! Any particular reason for removing Maps ? I'd just like to know if I can install it on my own without errors.
Also, pros / cons over AmericanAndroid?

Testing now
edit:
good port!
overwrite this rootfs.img to boot via MAGLDR. http://www.mediafire.com/?enz2kbb2yo8so6k
note: tytung zimage cant boot if you have other android in nand, WP7 on nand is fine, dualboot with nand android should use ACA zimage.

The Best!!!

Thank you for your job ^_^ Very Great!

build beautiful compliments

solutions

This Rom is Very perfect for booting from WIN 6.5, low battery consumption, working fast and stable for daily use, this is the best one we can found right now, I’m much appreciated.
HaPeWe, you are excellent work.
Many Thanks,

utf8?
Great build!
But fails to mount cifs utf8 shares. There is no nls_utf8.ko in the module directory. Is it compiled into the kernel? In tytung's NAND thread it says utf8 is supported though.

BT issue
Hi,
just testing this build right now. Have not finished. First feedback to BT:
Pairing BT just works if you switch from visible to non visible mode (or vice versa).
Reconnect of BT device also just works if you switch from visible to non visible mode (or vice versa). Quite Complicated ;-(
AVRCP..not working ;-(
Battery drain...20mAh with BT on // 7-10mAh without BT

Loving this build great job and even more appreciated as I can't have band builds as I have no USB lol.
Not had any probs yet been using for 12 hours
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

Asia O2 Xda II WM 2003 SE Upgrade (Under Construction)

As I have seen many are still struggling with the upgrade or having post-upgrade problems I am posting this thread in hope of helping those Xda II owners from the O2 Asia affected or concerned.
The end result of the upgrade will be as follows.
ROM version: 2.06.00WWE
ROM date: 06/14/04
Radio version: 1.18
Protocol version: 1337.38
ExtROM version: 1.12.925WWE
DeviceData:
U S B 3 2 2 . 0 6 . 0 0 W W E P H 1 0 O 2 W W E 1 . 1 2 . 9 2 5 W W E 1 . 1 8 . 0 0
This upgrade has been performed on my Xda II which has a BootLoader 1.01 hence those with a later BootLoader please consider this thoroughly.
Errors
First off. If previous attempts have been fouled by the Country ID error obstacle please proceed with this step to rectify by reverting your Xda II back to original O2 state. Else skip this.
Download the compressed file attached, unzip and run HimaUpgradeUt.exe whilst your Xda II is docked and ActiveSynced.
Flash
Here is the upgrade proper.
Download the compressed file attached, unzip and if you are equipped, modify the Extended ROM to your fancy as you deemed fit.
Else run HimaUpgradeUt.exe whilst your Xda II is docked and ActiveSynced.
TBC
Will resume morrow with enhancements that are left out from the Extended ROM.
I have 'No Eye Deer' what the response would be like for this thread as what I only wish to offer is stability and reliability.
Anyways I would want to take this opportunity to thank all those involved and contributed in making WM 2003 SE on the Xda II a reality.
RE
OK brother of the same land!
I'll try it tonight. However, just a few ideas for your EXT ROM.
Is the bluetooth icon on Today's screen still playing hide-and-seek? I tried Buzz and another guy's solution (at othet threads) but they still don't work especially when switching from landscape-to-portrait and vice versa and performing other tasks when there's a need to do a screen refresh. If it works flawlessly for your PPC maybe you can incorporate into the EXT ROM depending on which version you're using.
Secondly, can incorporate the latest SDIO WiFi driver (just released) because I could not find the cab file for the EXT ROM installation.
Thirdly, can replace with colourful keyboard layout instead of the default mono keyboard? Not sure how to do it from the EXT ROM side.
I think the rest I can customize myself
Many thanks Dr.

Thanks for the support and feedback Bro.
Initially the reason behind me intentionally leaving out some of the cabinet files are so that users can customize to their own flavour but keeping those that are the backbone of a reliable and stable WM 2003 SE Xda II.
However your point is noted and I think it is a good idea. I am working on it now.
Revised Extended ROM
The Extended ROM has been revised to contain BlueTooth Today Profile Fix. Please redownload from the earlier post thank you.
As for the other enhancements as promised will be provided soon.
This thread is also for new Xda II users/owners who are keen on upgrading to WM2003SE but keep running into a wall or are clueless. Simply download and run the ROM and your Xda II should be up and running on WM2003SE.
Seasoned members who suffer from post-upgrade problems and issues please feel free to ask about customizing your own Extended ROMs and compatibilities.
RE
Hi Dr,
One thing I notice is that the SDIO WiFi cab file (the older version) is rather large and incorporating it into the EXT ROM wil mean you don't have enough EXT ROM memory for other cab files.
Quote
"Please download from first post thank you"
BTW I don't have the country ID error so should I download the O2.zip or the XDAIIx.zip? Are you saying the XDAIIx.zip do not have the bluetooth today profile fixl?
Thanks
Can i use extended rom unlocker and directly import the contents of the rom on my xda then make a hard reset or is it more advisable to re-flash the rom with se2?
Thanks!
Re: RE
As I have reiterated the enhancements will be attached in another post. It will include procedures to exploit the Storage folder as an Extended Extended ROM.

Bro you can download the XdaIIx.zip and upgrade as you do not have the Country ID Error. I have tweaked my ROM to default original O2 state so if you do run into the error than you should run the fix in the O2.zip file.
The revised Extended ROM now contains the BlueTooth Today Profile Fix.

If your Xda II is already running on WM2003SE 2.06.00WWE (neat - untouched) and has no issues or problems you may perform the former but if you do I strongly suggest the latter.
RE
Hi DR.
Once you've finished your new EXTROM could you upload as a zip file instead of the ms_.nbf file.
The reason is that we already have the main ROM and the radio installed so no point going through that process again. Using zip file I can further customize and install the files into my EXTROM and perform a hard reset to get the installation done.
Thanks.
Extended ROM
I shall upload both the ms_.nbf and *.zip files for ease of new owners/users and for seasoned ones respectively.

OK guys!
Finally, I solved the mystery of why after loading the profile.dll (even in the EXT ROM) my Today bluetooth icon still disappears despite successful reports from other users.
What I've done was go to the EXT ROM (with the profile.dll loaded in it) and click on the profile.dll cab file. It'll ask you to soft reset your PPC and after which the bluetooth icon on the Today screen remains sticky FOREVER!
Now, the question is why during the booting up phase after a hard reset the profile.dll cab is not activated? Instead Ive to go to the EXT ROM to activate it after the complete installation?
DR, can you look into this? Does this happen to your installation?
Thanks

I believe Guru buzz_lightyear has already guided you to enlightenment on that.
Sorry folks I will be swamped these few days (what weekend?) but I will try my best to resume ASAP.
Hey bro Stein..

may try upgrading as well over the weekend too...

Thanks for new build...
Will give F/B very soon...
Hey Ramerson, i am also working on this build for new gene, i too took XIP and SYS from Ankit's source. I have a great ROM at hand, with only two problems:
1. On connecting data cable, when passthru internet connection is established, the phone hangs. Touchscreen is responsive but software is not. If backlight becomes dim and i touch the screen it lits up, but nothing works untill a soft reset.
2. NO 3rd party keyboard is working. I am using IOLite Ezinput keyboards which are working fabulously on my previous rom.I tried installing other keyboards too, nothing worked. On selecting any keyboard from SIP menu, the default keyboard comes up.
Apart from these, th ROM is working fabulously well on my new gene.

Thanks for the reply Ankit. But buddy, when i first created a test build of this ROM with old internet explorer, the keyboard did worked. But the new widgets and even sms work on new IE so i had to put it back. But after that, these problems came into picture. I cannot undestand what is happening. Lets see if there is anything i could do, otherwise will have to wait.
BTW, the only thing i liked about the WM 6.5 is the new look of scrollbars, titlebars etc and the Titanium TOday plugin. Its really very good and alllows information display along with letting the user enjoy his/her wallpaper too.
Start menu of this build is good but it lacks the recent applications area which was very useful.
If i can get titanium on WM 6.1, i will be more than happy

Hi Sumit,
This build has some improvements from old ones, but it still have some issues. I made it only for test because i didn't build any wm6.5 yet. Have you checked if bluetooth works? Fuguru reported it didn't work. I checked other roms with the same build and found that they also have similar problems.
I'll wait for the next build to update this ROM (I hope this errors don't appear again).
at least this build is fast.
For now i agree with Ankit, it is not worth wasting time with this build.

Yes the build has good improvements, the fluidness of Titanium as well as scrolling of new Start Menu is great. Bluetooth, i didn't checked, i had to go somewhere so i flashed back my ProUsers ROM and did a SKTools restore just now. Anyways, non working keyboard is enough reason for me to stay away from this as i cannot live without the IOLite keyboards, i do a lot of sms and email typing.

Thats what i have been saying since the development started on this. The beta builds have debug mode code with them, so they are not worth wasting the time, other than learning purpose. I'll make a true ROM only when RTM arrives. But ya, Ankit has done some good work on these Betas.
@all: For the users who are using Ramerson's kitchen for WM 6.5 ROM building, i would like to point out one thing. It uses GReloc in between the build process so the kitchen wont work like it use to.
You will first need to divide packages into smaller sub groups (in sub folder i mean) and then run a full greloc on it. If it still gives error "Integer Overflow", then dont close the Greloc window, press the Doit button once again. This time it will show you the path of the module which is causing error. Go to that module folder and delete the .tmp file there. This will be locked so you will need to use something like unlocker (http://ccollomb.free.fr/unlocker/) to unlock the file. AFter that, again press Do It button and it will do the relocating without problems. In my case the problematic file was htmlnote.dll in SYS\Redist folder.
Once i did that, old Greloc worked fine. WMreloc also works but its tricky to use it with Ramerson's kitchen and it is not bug free either. It sometimes overlaps module addresses which result in non bootable ROMs.

[26 FEB][SD] MIUI custom build (based on MIUI 1.2.19 SD / SD MAGLDR)

I am just posting this build of a chinese version of MIUI (from 3dak) that I was able to add an english lang pack to and modify slightly. This is based on this build here:

(Always check back on the first post for updates from OP)
13-Jun:
With the arrival of Sense 4.0 in the NAND section, I thought it is time to release a Portadroid for Sense 4.0 (Portadroid NSD v5.0) soon... So far the major problems are sound and wifi which are still not working in NAND but at least I have got data and SD mount to work on SD boot... hope to get it release soon
1-Feb:
For all those who has been waiting for an update from Portadroid, I thank you for your patience. I am releasing Portadroid Ultimate v4.0 to support porting ICS NAND ROM only. I am disappointed that Oxygen ICS has not been released yet at this point in time for Portadroid. I suspect it will take even longer than usual since their developer Adamg had just become a father recently

Ported to SD Sense 4.0 from NAND section by sbryan12144...
All latest updates below in Red
Portadroid NSD is being put together based on the original FR/GB/ICS development work by these great guys listed below. All credits goes to them so please thank or donate to them first:
1) Darkstone: Source of inspiration for Portadroid. Originator of SuperRAM Froyo build with numerous contribution to HD2 Android. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=870518). Sadly he has announced to "retire" from HD2 and move to Samsung Galaxy S2
2) Takaaki, crawlingcity, cedesmith: Original initrd.gz for Gingerbread that enables RAM system (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=885985 & https://bitbucket.org/takaaki/leo-initrd) where I have have done some minor tweaking and modification. However, due to the sheer size of ICS ROM which causs instability, RAM boot should be temporary disabled with "SD_Boot" file until a solution (if any) can be found.
3) Tytung: All his HD2 Kernels and base ROM for porting ICS NAND to SD.
4) Ankuch & KAI: Fixes for many SD-related boot and ICS ROM-related issues.
5) 3dak: He said he was "lazy" so he created HD2 SD/MALDR System.ext2 Auto Builder V1.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1055923)... that makes me even "lazier" by creating Portadroid using part of his code
6) SyLvEsTeR20007: Graciously provided his server for hosting Portadroid SuperRAM GB previously.
7) Szczepanik: For creating a wiki for Portadroid (http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=Portadroid) and putting it on xda news article (http://www.xda-developers.com/andro...-running-and-testing-android-builds-a-breeze/). Honestly I don't think this simple and humble tool deserve such publicity and work but appreciate all his effort.
8) Paypal Donor: (a)OMNISOFT. (b)TeaMsTaZ (c)yugoport - Thanks for 2nd donation(d)Toptip. Thanks for buying me a drink and supporting my work on Portadroid
9) All HTC HD2 Android NAND ROM and HTC Desire ROM developers for their great work on providing customised Gingerbread ROMon HD2!
What is Portadroid?
- Portadroid (a.k.a Port-a-Droid) is NOT AN ANDROID ROM!
- It is a tool whioch I build mainly with scripts that enables SUPPORTED ICS HD2 NAND ROMs to be booted via SD card on the top of your stock WM6.5 ROM.
(Theoretically, all current HD2 ICS NAND ROMs can be ported via Portadroid with the basic functions working listed below.)
- It is meant to be a self-service/self-help tool where you have to download the supported ROM (including new ROM revision) directly from the ROM developer thread. Do not request for any additional ROM features here as I am not a ROM developer. I can only try to support the basic functionalities listed below.
- I believe this tool is mainly for beginners or intermediate level users of Android on the HD2. Advanced user should migrate to install Android via NAND if possible.
- In addition to running Android, you can perhaps pick up some lesson on ROM porting by looking at my scripts and files I use. And feel free to use them (Remember to give credits to the great guys mentioned above if you use some of their work too)!
- I designed this tool so that I can be lazy! So do not expect frequent updates!
What are the basic functionalities supported by Portadroid NSD v5.0 (Sense 4.0 Ready)?
- All of the working functions from original NAND ROMs
- I may add my own patches/fixes for SD boot only
- Data is based on cLK (Sorry, I do not know how to support Rmnet )
What does not work:
Let me know if you find any of the basic funtions listed in NAND is not working in SD.
Pre-requisite & Min Requirements:
- As per all HD2 Android SD build... basically stock HD2 ROM and at least radio 2.08 and above (No HSPL, MAGLDR, CWM etc. needed)
(Recommended but not compulsory: hard reset WM6.5 before booting up with Portadroid for optimal performance)
- Support both EU and TMOUS version of HD2
- Format your SD card with SD Card Formatter if using it on Android boot for the first time (http://www.sdcard.org/consumers/formatter_3/)
Currently testedICS ROMs:
1) HD2 Sense 4.0a NAND
- Blackout ICS Primo v1.0 (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1658936)
Please let Szczepanik know or update wiki page if you have tested other ROMs and the basic functionalities works with Portadroid.
Installation based on default settings and orginal zip package (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY!):
1) Porting a New ROM
a. Unzip the downloaded Portadroid NSD v5.0 package and put the "ICS" folder into the root of your SD card
b. Unzip the downloaded ICS ROM of your choice and put all its content (eg. "data", "kernel", "setup", "system", "META-INF", "yn" folders and/or boot.img) into the "/ICS/root" folder (Please refer to the diagram here (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=14144102&postcount=89) if unsure of the exact location of where to put the folders)
(Note: If there are patches/fixes provided by me, please use these patch folders/files by copying and overwriting all the contents in the "/ICS/root" folder)
c. Edit startup.txt on cmdline if required (eg. change data_size=256 to another value if default 256MB is too small for your phone data storage). Note that based on user feedback, Magldr boot (vs WM6.5 clrcad.exe and haret.exe boot) do not support reading cmdline from startup.txt so your default would be 512MB.
e. Run CLRCAD.exe and then haret.exe
f. Depending on the size of the ROM you're porting, first boot from Portadroid NSD may take ~15-20 minutes (based on default to create a 256MB data.img and porting a 500MB size Sense 4.0 ROM). You will see the Sense 4.0 ROM boot animation after the "HTC" (or original NAND ROM) logo.
(Note: I recommend rebooting the first time you get into the ROM after the boot animation without going into the setup wizard. To reboot, long press the power button and click restart.)
g. Once back into WM6.5, run CLRCAD.exe and then haret.exe again.
h. Second boot should be between 5-8 min. You will see the original ported NAND ROM logo and ported NAND ROM animation (if any and enabled), hTC setup screen. Subsequent boot will be faster at ~4-5 mins.
(Note: As Sense ROMs are huge and consume a lot of resources on our HD2, it may take some time to fully "settle". Reboot a 3rd or 4 the time may help butdon't ask me why!)

Downloads & Changelog:
Changelog:
Update v5.0 (15-Jun-2012):
- Support for ICS HD2 Sense 4.0 Nand ROM only (ie. not created for backward compatibility for porting normal ICS, GB or FR Android ROMs)
Update v4.0 (1-Feb-2012):
- Support for ICS HD2 Nand ROM only
Update v3.2 (1-Dec-2011):
- Fix 3D Data problem for some ROM
- Enable full SD boot (ie exclude SuperRAM ROM load). User add a dummy file SD_Boot to folder "/Android" folder.
Update v3.1 (19-Aug-2011):
- Port HD2 NAND ROMs made for MAGLDR AND CWR only (ie. ROMs package must come with "boot" folder that contains "zImage" & "initrd.gz" files). CLK ROMs are not supported.
- Auto modify and repack initrd.gz from original NAND ROM for Portadroid SD/RAM boot. Use original zImage from NAND ROM instead of default Portadroid zImage on second boot. Keep ported NAND ROM as stock as possible to optimize performance from orginal ROM developer.
- Support all versions of Sense and non-Sense Gingerbread (2.3.3 - 2.3.5) without any patch files required.
Update v3.0 (3-Aug-2011):
- Removed SuperPartition concept as it causes some boot issue for some users. Maintain SuperRAM concept for light ROMs (less than 200MB) and use normal SD boot for heavy ROMs (including all Sense ROM).
- Repacked portadroid_nand.gz and portadroid_desire.gz to fix error on mounting yaffs2
- Added default_kernel_to_rafpigna (portadroid_sense.gz and zImage) patch files to support default kernel change from tytung to rafpigna when porting Sense ROM only
Update v2.0 (24-July-2011):
Important Note - v2.0 is implemented with concept different from v1.x. Portadroid v2.0 supports Gingerbread v2.3.4 for non-Sense ROM and Gingerbread v2.3.3 for Sense (2.1/3.0) ROM only. Please refer to Readme.txt for new installation/porting instructions.
- Added new SuperPartition concept to SuperRAM. Improved performance and support for porting Sense ROM.
- Changed cmdline control in startup.txt to only four: (1)rel_path (2)data_size (3)lcd_density (4)gps_zone
- Fixed SU/Root issues. Verifed ok with Root Checker.
- Added support for user to perform minor updates/fixes and kernel upgrades on current ported ROM.
- Fixed issue with hang on second or subsequent boot when porting.
Update v1.1 (31-May-2011):
- Change kernel_files structure to give flexibility for user to self-upgrade kernels based on GB v2.3.3 or GB v2.3.4
- Added support for rapigna kernel with kernel selection using cmdline 'kernel_type' in startup.txt
- Added support to clear cache (dalvik-cache) on boot using cmdline 'clear_cache' in startup.txt
- Added tytung fast gps fix lib patch v1.0 into gps_files folder to allow user to self-upgrade when new version is released
- Fixed permission/root issues on some ROMs (eg.NexusHD2) when installing apps that require root/superuser access (eg. root explorer, titanium backup)
- Fixed possible incorrect detection of Gingerbread version 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 in the build.prop file resulting in wrong kernel version being applied for some NAND ROMs (eg.Hyperdroid GBX12).

SuperWOW!!! Thank you... Downloading... as soon as i download it, i'll post results
Ok, i tried Typhoon's GB build and it doesnt work with that, i get stuck at the HTC logo after the first reboot. I tried with Tytung's Nexus GB and it works perfect ... im gonna give it a test for today and see how it works
Thanks a lot
didn't test ist yet but the idea itself is just awesome. THX!
OMG!!!! thank you will test it..
WOW! I spent a while a few months ago trying to convert NAND roms to sd but never had any luck. Thank you so much for this. I'll try crawlingcity's UD rom as there is no sd version of that.
Does this method support SD/MAGLDR booting for dual boot??
EDIT: I tested and it works perfectly via magldr, really fast and smooth with everything working
How about sense 3.0 or 2.1 builds?they can be converted?thanks
I'm still using 0.1 version Rom and it works great. So far I have only one problem. Sometimes 3G stops working for no reason, so I have to switch 3G to edge and then switch it back to 3G and it works. What could be a problem. I'm using US T-mobile HD2 with the latest radio. Also what is the difference between 0.1 and 1.0 version?
Excellent Job.
Running fine with HyperdroidCM7.
TY.

As it says in the first post, his is NOT a ROM. I understand your confusion, because I am currently using the GB v 0.1 but this is something much more flexible. Read carefully and you will see. I can't wait to go home and try it!

I tried Hyperdroid CM7 cLK version up to 2.0.1 by pongster first. Everythinglooked fine when I noticed my wifi was not connecting.
I tried Oxygen 2.x.x by Adamg and Team and found it couldn't find my network and wifi.
I tried booting with MIUI Nand, it worked good, but again no wifi and data for me.
using directly desire roms without have to port it to hd2 is a brutal achievement..

I agree with you, this has to be the release of the month... it could be the release of the year too lol
A very good tool to test those nand roms without flashing one...
Damn i love to have my HTC HD2!!! gonna check it out!
so long story short.. we can now download a rom from the Nand section and boot it without having the NAND requirements and booting via sd?

i´m using oxygen and wifi is working, even adhoc connections are working, you might have missed something, try to reformat your sd with sd formater an a clean install to see if it helps..

Hi, thank you I update only SYS packages, OEM are the same as in DFT 7004 (expect some registry tweaks) EDIT: Well... I just forgot that some registry were different between RGUs and hive in original DFT, but not a lot, just drivers flags and order, and default SD driver is sdmemory.dll instead of LEO_sdmemory.dll and if I remeber correct also backlight driver and settings has some changes

Sorry, this ROM shares mostly the same sources as the firt DFT one, so I don't think so. But I can look at battery driver later, now I must finish kitchen and optimize ROM for normal using
