[DEV]|[ROM]+[KERNEL] [FM6 Variant (Spice Mi700 / ViewSonic ViewPad 7 etc.)] - Viewsonic ViewPad 7 & Variants

My Friend's borrowing me the CSL Mi-700 Device, so I can start to development for this device, but this project will closed anytime when my friend want his device back.
Untill now I have successfully to porting the CM7 ROM to this device, but need more bug fixing, and will not release in short time.
But for now I will release my first version of FM6 variant ROM
This ROM is based from the latest Official Release by Viewsonic, I just add / remove some feature in this ROM.
Kernel feature:
Overclocked up to 864MHz
ROM feature:
Froyo 2.2.2 FRG83G
Root installed
Busybox installed
Bash installed
Gingerbread Blackout Blue installed
Percentage Battery meter installed
Doc to go removed
Touchpal removed
File manager replaced
On this ROM I'm using Clockwork recovery 2.5.1.2 from hucqim80
This is some preview of this ROM:

Fastboot Mode Flashing Methode
Flashing process with fastboot mode is more easy instead using flash_image methode.
You just need fastboot and adb binary, you cen get here: View attachment 605489
But, this methode just available if you have the working system..
this is the step for flashing recovery, boot, system, etc. with fastboot:
go to command prompt and type:
Code:
[B]adb reboot bootloader[/B]
and your device will reboot to fastboot mode.
After that you can start to flashing what partition do you wan't to flash, example:
Flashing boot:
Code:
[B]fastboot flash boot boot.img[/B]
Flashing recovery:
Code:
[B]fastboot flash recovery recovery.img[/B]
Flashing system:
Code:
[B]fastboot flash system system.img[/B]
Make sure you type the right partition name and right *.img name..
Or you can use the flash_image methode in your device, you can get here:View attachment flash_image.zip
For the people that have problem with custom recovery, you can flash the original recovey with fastboot mode.
here the original recovery file:
View attachment FM6-recovery.7z
Happy Flashing...

How does one determine which touchscreen is in the viewpad 7?
What are the changes with 2.2.1 and 2.2.2?

Ok now I am confused. 1st post says newer devices are not working with this kernel. But you are saying viewpad 7 preloaded with 2.2.2 are the ones with newer screens... Not panjit ones, which were the viewpad 7 loaded with 2.2.1

Ok will give it a try...

Great to see more roms for this..
flashing now, btw - is there any easy way to navigate in the recovery menu.. it skips two options at a time.. plus back menu enabled and disabled is very erractic - or maybe im just not using it right..
Will update on how the flash goes.. im on a olivepad.. i hope this can give me ~800 quadrant scores.. because uptil now im stuck on ~400

Using stock 2.2.2 rom
Waiting for your CM7 porting including ITE touchscreen.

tried flashing it came up with an error
what should i do next?

I also have this error. In Device Manager on the PC, is defined as a modem - is this correct? Or problem that is modified recovery? Much to ask the author to make update.zip. Thank you for your work and sorry for my english.

Nope. Could not manage to flash it. I too think it is failing because we are not on stock recovery. First time i tried to flash it, it restarted to recovery and got stuck there. After that i tried running the flashing tool when the recovery was on, and after 70% or so, it gave me this error.
Is it possible to get a update.zip for the same? Thanks!

[SOLVED] Stuck at Sony Logo whenever i try new ROM

Hello,
Currently i am using NEO V on ICS Spacious,Smooth & light ROM with Custom v3 kernel by Sharul Seth, i have an unlocked bootloader.
Whenever i try to install any other ROM like MIUI or any other ICS ROM by some other developer, my phone gets stuck at SONY LOGO for more than 10 minutes and i have to again n again switch back to my old custom ROM through CMW, i don't know what is the problem so i need suggestions from you guys, that is there a problem with the ROM or something else.
BTW i follow the steps correctly as mentioned like wiping dalvik cache, partition, data etc
still the phone takes forever to boot up and i have to switch back to my old custom ROM through CMW
*I was't able to find any threads with similar problem as mine therefore i posted a new one and moderators are free to delete this if they can answer by sending me link to some other forum.
Thank you in advance
how about trying to flash a standalone kernel first and then the rom of your choice? coz sometimes the kernels that comes from roms are not very friendly towards other roms i've been using this kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1521309
maybe is because the kernel that you are using is only for that custom rom, MIUI uses NE kernel or his own kernel inside zip file and aokp roms uses special aokp kernel
hi all.. first post
so i've been lurking aroma rom thread for a while, and finally pulled the trigger. this is the exact thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1603919
1. my phone is xperia neo, on stock GB firmware, and unlocked bootloader. so when pulling the trigger, i flashed my phone to ICS using flashtool 0.7.1.0. i got the ICS from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24916638&postcount=117
but after following the instructions on the flashtool software, my phone got stuck on sony logo, and then kept restarting
this is what shows up on the flashtool screen

anybody knows what the problem is? i would appreciate any kind of help. i have only done flashing step, before this accident happened. because the installation requires ICS firmware before doing any further action
2. there is a neo patch in the aroma thread, but there are no instructions for it. how do i use this patch, and when do i do it (after flashing ICS, after installing aroma rom, etc.)?
thanks in advance
1) tick "no final verification" when selecting fw in flashtool.
2) that zip needs to be flashed trough CWM recovery, after flashing the rom.

you have to check "No final data verification" when flashing the ICS ftf. It should look like this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=24920288&postcount=1527

the rom works perfectly now.. only left with not installing the su binary, which was linked in that aroma thread before (under v2 how to). but i think the TS removed v2 how to, and i didn't get the chance to install the su binary yet. i don't know how it will effect my phone, but it works just fine now (don't know how will it be better with the su binary, though)

[Q] Issue with flashing the Xperia S ICS CM9

I'm having a bit of a problem flashing this rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1782771) onto my X10i. I've tried both the FXP and championswimmer kernels with the same abort message ("assert failed", then a couple of lines of text). Does anyone know the cause of this problem and/or a fix?
Installed the kernels from the very latest Flashtool (0.9.0.0), and I'm pretty sure the phone is rooted (I used to run doomkernel v6 medium overclock). Thanks in advance.
EDIT: Also, having a bit of a problem of mass storage from champswimmer's kernel. My computer seems to fail to find drivers for it whenever I connect it for mass storage and doesn't find it either. Anyone know about this as well?

Don't think that's the issue. I've managed to install custom kernels and roms without having to flash the file for when the bootloader is unlocked, and it's overclocked as well.

my phone is a SK17a.
above, I flashed rom using Flashtool to downgrade and root my SK17a, and installed 5.0.2.7 recovery.
Now, in any android version (2.3.3; 2.3.4 or 4.0.4) when I want to install by recovery, rom 11.0-cm-20131128-NIGHTLY-LX-mango.zip but that's where it shows me that error ir recovery.
As you can see, or rename my device, I do not know the route to get.
I'll take a photo of the error when it could be useful.

To me it looks like you've flashed a custom recovery for the anzu device onto your mango device.
That's why it won't accept the mango file when you try to flash it.
You can fix the recovery.img or remove the device authentication in the zip files update-script.
I agree with arkedk. And I know that you need to use the kernel that was created by FXP for CM11. The kernel that they created for CM11 has already a CWM included. Choose the FXP kernel that was created for mango

My best bet is u didn't even flash the included kernel in the ROM zip.
The included kernel in mike's cm11 doesn't use old cwm 5.0.2.7 like in your screenshot, it uses newer cwm 6.0.x.x

Jelly bean is nice and all, but....
Does this mean there is an upgrade rom in the works for 1.3? Because that would be really really great....really.

Not yet but you can backup your phone with mtkdroidtools, flash recovery (generate also with mtkdroidtools), backup in cwm, flash custom rom, restore boot.img from backup , wip and reboot. Everything should be fine and in case of failure you can always revert back!!
Dave
I've got cwm 6.0.4.4 installed on my Cubot One Turbo 0.8. Is it possibile use it to flash a different rom?

Yeah but it is more dificult make a cwm backup(make sure it isn't corrupt), wipe everything, install rom, restore boot.img from back-up and it should work (and you can revert back in cade of!)
Good news for everyone with a newer Cubot, who is looking for the v1.5.
Today the guys from Cubot finally replied to my emails.
This is the link for the 1.5 firmware:
http://pan.baidu.com/s/1nt5E6b3?qq-pf-to=pcqq.temporaryc2c
For me it worked out very well, I rescued my Cubot with it.
But be aware that this the latest version of the firmware, propably for the newer Cubot One.
Is there already news on any new ports for our Cubots? I tried to flash the new MIUI V5, but it doesn't work with the new Cubot One. I just see a grey screen after installing it successful. Man I would kill a OMNIROM or Cyanogenmod...

rob

Hi, I uploaded the backups of the recovery and the kernel to my Dropbox (because I can't attach files to my post using my smartphone).
Here is the link:

Is there any Custom Rom for V1.3? Because the roms in the link you shared in your first post seem for V0.8 only?

If the ROM is in a rar file, you can flash it via SP_Flash_Tool. You have to extract the rar, then probably use the following guide.

hey man. I am willing to test this ROM, but you are telling us to flash android 5.1.1 to our phone? I mean, the title is saying that It is Android 6.0.1?
I am willing to test this rom too. But we have bootloader for android 6 and we cannot flash back to bootloader 5.1.1. How can we flash this Rom exactly? Which bootloader exatly do you mean??

You need to flash the stock Android 5.1.1 Rom with Odin because you cant flash the cm 13 Rom over an Android M bootloader (kernel not seandroid enforcing)

Doesn't exactly make sense that it says Kernel not seandroid enforcing, when its a bootloader problem, and the fact that he is calling it a 6.0.1 ROM, when he asks us to DOWNgrade. I mean, what about all the 6.0.1 functions? Will we loose them? Like doze etc..
Woah, nice one, out of nowhere.
How did you get the camera partially working? Hopefully your hard work can help our progress with this device.
Any links for a SM-g925F 5.1.1 file?
holy ****. amazing
too bad i cant flash it cuz my chqrging port is broken..and odin dsnt recognize my phone anymore((

These steps make no sense. Why would you flash paranoid and later wipe the system to flash gapps.. ? When you wipe system the paranoid will be gone too.
Btw the install is taking ages..stuck at "patching system image unconditionally" for like an half hour..
I cant downgrade. Any help guys? it fails at the NAND write start...

Reason why you get the error is because you need the delete the .md5 extension from the name just to be .tar. Anyway dont risk it and flash the bootloader i post now.
1. Are you sure you have a 925F not 925I or something.
2.Try this bootloader: https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=24052804347786560
I wonder if you can install the rom because for my its busy installing for 30+ min.

I am 100% positive I have a 925F. Used tons of ROMs, flashed kernels and generally changing stuff on my phone. After flashing the bootloader, should I boot into the recovery and install the ROM?
Not working
I have tried flashing this rom for like 5 times. Every time it get stuck on this:
"patching system image unconditionally"
What I did was:
- Install Lollipop
- Root
- TWRP Recovery
- Flash Rom
I will request you to please provide more detailed steps.
Well, I think that the developer should add support for the 6.0.1 bootloader...
---------- Post added at 07:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 07:25 PM ----------
Also didnt work either. In the corner of the download side its written SW REV. CHECK FAIL. DEVICE: 3, BINARY: 2
Yes guys you can just flash bootloader 5.1.1 only. This allows aosp flash, it won't downgrade to 5.1.1, the flash will UPGRADE to 6.0.1 later.
For those who have some problem while flashing try perform a full wipe (system/cache/dalvik) and if still persist try change/update your recovery.
Right, I forgot: fingerprint not working because really no sources for that.
