[Q] Problems flashing Clockwork Recovery - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So just to make it first stated, im no newb to this forum. i flash all the time. i just had my phone unbricked by Connexion2005 and the crew over at mobiletechvideos.com they did a fantastic job at restoring my vibrant to its previous luster. my problem now is i cannot find a way to flash clockwork recovery. ive downloaded rom manager from the market and tried flashing then rebooting to the recovery environment. but nogo. still on stock recovery. ive tried some of the older versions and none of them work either. what am i doing wrong? i also found others with the same issue in the clockwork thread in the dev section. someone shed some light for a fellow modder.

Help re-rooting my phone through Clockworkmod

So basically what happened here was things went wrong. And I accidently Unrooted my phone The Samsung Galaxy S Vibrant
Which is running GingerR2 on 2.2 I want to install another rom, but can't
I do have Clockworkmod recovery installed I got this phone second-handed so from what I tried there doesn't seem to be a backup
Is there a way to do this or instructions I can follow?
I have searched the forums and can't find anything really related to this and if there was something I apologize for not noticing.
Have tried Z4root it just closed itself after a certain period and phone didn't restart
Tried one click root
Even the option in the recovering for running the SD card won't root it
Thank you kindly for your answer
Just download the cw recovery update.zip and flash it in normal recovery (reinstall packages) twice on the second reinstall it will put u in cw recovery (green font) use it to flash a new rom because they all come rooted.
Any more questions email me cuz I don't get here too much anymore. I will PM u my email
Use AIO Vibrant tools on development area. Its a good tool, It does all you need on ur vibrant including rooting. That's what I am using.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy "Showcase" need help plz

Okay so i recently got the Galaxy Showcase i500 from Cellular south and
used z4root to root it fairly easy. I downloaded rom manager in hopes of loading some new roms on and was very disappointed to learn that it wouldnt even let me back up my current rom. Im not sure what to do. I am already rooted. Would just like to experience newer roms and such. Any ideas.?? Ive heard people speak of "odin" but i have no clue of what it is or how to use it. Thanks for the help in advance.
Its best if you read up more on Roms, Clockwork, and Recoveries before you start flashing roms. You need Clockworkmod Recovery installed on your phone to install apps, make backups, and such. I would suggest installing the one here on XDA instead of the one in the Clockwork Manager app. Make sure you flash stuff specifically made for your SHOWCASE, not from the Mesmerize or the Verizon Fascinate. Odin is a tool released by Samsung used to flash firmware files, modems, kernels, and other stuff. Its mainly used as a tool for flashing modems and returning to stock when things go wrong.
I am familiar with roms and flashing and such. Just came from a rooted hero with cyanogen mod and such. When i try to back it up with clockwork recovery it doesnt let me. some error occurs in recovery.

[Q] Orange CWR

So it will not let me post in the development forums because I have to post 10 things in general questions and answers?...Retarded. Anyway my question is about the new CMR 3.0. I want to use the red one but when I flash it in Rom Manager it screws everything up. How do I get around flashing Clockwork in rom manager and just using what I already have. Also it gives me a download error everytime I try to flash an Alternate older recovery.
Don't flash things in rom manager for the fascinate. There are tons of problems that could use addressing. For now your best bet is to stick to CWM and Odin for your needs.
Why would you part this on the dev forums? This isn't related to the development you are along a question.
To answer your question the newer cwm recovery was ment to be installed via recovery menu or odin.
If you read the post in the dev forums you would now that jt recommend not using recovery manager on froyo.

[Q] Flashing Recovery that will not flash

I tried to flash the recovery for this phone via rooting and downloading clockworkmod and then flashing there, it failed and did not work even though the phone is fully rooted and permissions are okay. I tried to flash it via ODIN and the only one I could get to go was that CWM VOODOO lagfix one, the red screen. Then when inside of that, it doesnt want to flash roms, it doesnt want to restore backups. I tried to do MIUI and it worked and installed a recovery and it KINDA worked, not really tho.
So, my question is: How do you install recovery to this phone? I have tried the guides, I'm just going to ask. It has eclair stock on there now, rooted, flashed to cricket settings via PST (which by the way odin did NOT restore the settings to default VZW, with both the eclair and froyo stock recovery and PIT file. When it was finished I did a 611 and it was still cricket.)
It seems as if recovery is ON there, but just not reading it correctly and its as if it doesn't have the appropriate permissions. Any help is appreciated.
EDIT: After countless hours of going through all the guides I could find, google, this place search, just wading through the topics, etc. I finally came across a guide that works. This one says to pull the battery. The sticky says to leave the battery in, several people also say different things. At any rate, THIS should be sticky'd. The other one seems outmoded. This is also the best guide I've seen in a while.

Tried to install either Philz Touch/TWRP, still no luck [Solved]

Hello there,
so as of late i've been wanting to upgrade to a newer version of firmware, which sadly couldn't be done because of my old phone. So i eventually ended up here, and read about how to get unofficial versions
of newer firmware. Thing is, i'm stuck at the first part; succesfully installing a recovery mod on your phone. I tried flashing twrp tar files with odin (which i did succesfully, according to the guides i found here atleast), yet when i open into recovery mode it gives me an error and redirects me to the stock recovery mode. Same deal with philz touch, and i'm not quite sure why.
Any thoughts? Any help would be appreciated!
EDIT: Managed to solve it, although i do not know what constituted the difference. Followed the first part of the guide on the wiki of Cyanogenmod, and it was smooth sailing from there on.
