Sense 3.0 rom on sgs2 possible? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone one else think that a sense 3.0 rom on the sgs2 would just be sexy?
I haven't heard of one in the works or even if its possible so excuse me if its already been talked about.
Input on this?

Even I think this would be immense. I'm buying a sgs2 tomorrow. Can't wait!

For one Congrats man this device is awesome.
And for two, it would just be so smooth on the sgs2. Such a perfect experience I think. And my old device used to be the HTC desire, and I miss it for sure.

It's nearly a meme at this point. I half expected to see a big "LOLZ I MADE JOKE!" as the first post in this thread.

Keep fighting the good fight.

If you want sense 3 buy a Sensation not a GS2.

Check out the various benchmarks online between the sensation and the SGS2 and tell me if you want pretty widgets which potentially slow the phone down or a much faster phone which is slicker and more fluid.
No brainer if you ask me.

Guys, no need to act liks a$$ holes. What the guy who post this simply means is that the excellent functionality of sense 3.0 coupled with the intense power of SGS II will yield a really good phone
i have an SGS II coming from desire HD. Touch wiz is ****, it does not even support scrollable widgets, and no other launcher like ADW to auncher pro offer the same graphics or functionality of sense
whether you agree or disagree, i think that to the majority of android users, i can safely say that sense surpasses any other launcher
It might not be possible to port it now to SGS II, but hell yea, i would love to see it on the SGS II
I have also noticed senior member on this forum treating noobs like ****. Guys dont be J&rks and remember you were noobs before

Double post lol ! I'm such a noob.

Well said I'd much rather see a new thread, than see an old thread reincarnated just to discuss something. Maybe it's against interweb or forum code to make new threads to chat, but personally seeing threads with a million pages is a million times worse than seeing a question asked again and again and saves on having to check the forum day after day seeing no new threads because newbs are afraid to post for fear of being flamed (yes im a newb)
ps. I'd love to see sense on galaxy s 2 as touchwiz is pants, and so are Launcher Pro, Go launcher, ADW and the rest. Sense is about the only decent launcher out there in my book, but the HTC phones don't cut it anymore.
Biff.

So I've been trying to investigate whether Sense will be ported to SGS2 - lucky for me, I didn't create a thread.
I must say, I've read through a dozen thread and all the responses are: "use the search", "don't be a noob" etc etc.
Nowhere did I actually find any info on whether Sense could be / would be ported...
This is a community forum and there are a lot of people who are newbies - to Android, to smartphones... Does that make them stupid? Does that give the "clever" members the right to rip them off? Come on people, surely it's easier to just ignore a thread then to have pages upon pages upon pages of ripping people off?
I love the work the XDA community does but some members are just arrogant and obnoxious - instead of helping people to be less of a "noob", some of you rather just put them down and so they will always be noobs.

Hey boet,
if you searched the forum for 'htc sense' you would find 18+ threads asking if sense is/was/will be ported to sgs2. Every day there is someone making a new thread , asking the same thing.
The senior members aren't being dicks, they are trying to keep the forums clean and tidy.
And why does everything have to be spoonfed? Haven't you heard that old proverb( i hope im not struck by lightning, thankfully i'm not on the highveld): give a man some fish, he will eat today. teach him to fish, he can feed himself?
If they dont try and find out for themselves, and post on the relevant topics, then they will always be noobs who cant help themselves. You are correct, 99% of people here were noobs once. but by reading threads/posts by more knowledgable members, you begin to learn.
Me? I'm still a noob. I dont know anywhere near as much as I would like to. Which is why I read what people post(when I have the time).
The answers are out there, if people actually use the search function. I would far rather see 4-5 threads, with a few pages of relevant information, than 20 threads, with 4-5 posts, all asking the same thing. Why does the same information have to be reposted every other day just because someone cant be arsed to read?
As for htc sense being ported over, its possible, like anything is, but bearing in mind that sense still isnt working 100% properly on the sgs1, its probably not likely in the near future. which is an answer which has been posted more than once, and not by me, I just did a search and read it(more than once, and in more than one thread).
Most xda members will help you, no questions asked. They just expect you to put a little effort in, instead of whining or being too lazy to use the search function or too lazy to read a thread or not being arsed to even post full details of their problem.
Nevermind about even reading the stickies which have useful information.
Sorry about the rant, but come on.

I honestly doesn't get it.
Why does everybody hate TouchWiz? And from what is seems on this thread, everyone loves HTC Sense
I think TouchWiz is awesome and looking good, unlike the HTC Sense which is effin ugly!

I am a noob, as a noob i know i have to use the search function so i dont gey flamed if i ask a question, but some people are truly annoying with their "use search bar" and thier xda noob video. ive seen some people just post the video on every.qurstion ive read, instead of doing that, what harm could come from just answering the question? You want to keep the forum clean? The question is already made, why not answer it again. Do you know how many pages are in the sgs 1 forum? Imagine going page through page just to get to the last one and see that the question you wanted answered just has some random guy posting the xda noob video.
I think all we noobs, including me (i may be a long time android user but i always want to learn more) should just get together and start making all our questions, even if theyve been answered before just to piss off all the people that post the xda video!! Just as it pisses me off when i see them answer a valid question with a stupid video.
I can just imagine some people, they must have the xda video ready and must go searching all day for noob questions just so he can put the video an laugh to himself.
If you see this is another htc sense kn gs2 question why do you bother looking inside. Just skip on by and let someone who actually wants to help answer the question. You are just making it harder to go through the question with a worthless video.
Im pretty sure some random guy is going to come and quote my rant and post the xda video, and im probably just going to laugh at the time he spent reading this just to paste a stupid url.
Sorry for the rant, but i am really annoyed by all this, and as i said before, to all noobs, just post your questions, someone will be willing to help, most of them will just send you a video url, but there are still some people that remember they were noobs.
The Q&A is for questions and answers so just deal with it!!

Ur recommendation is inappropriate. Coz most of the people including me choose SGS II over Sensation due to performance+higher internal storage+higher memory+better battery(the higher mAh and the reviews on different sites give a little hope to everyone)+Super Amoled Plus+better multimedia support & video performance.........................That's pretty much everything that a smartphone user wants in the phone except for the eye-candy's like the metal build(doesn't bother me anyway), visual interface etc. Well, SGS II lacks the most of the important eye-candy's. I only miss the beauty of the sense 3.0 in my SGS II.

Yep, searching for "Sense" will return dozens of topics, including loads of redundant ones like this. Closing

Are you tired of the same questions? Vent here.....

There will be no fighting with anyone in this forum, its only to vent your anger here. I will start.
I try to help people by reading through the forum but everyday real problems are over shadowed by people asking what is the best way to root their thunderbolt....every day that shortly followed by how much they searched for this subject when if you simply search on Google Thunderbolt+root method you will find you answer, if you can't find Google, do a Bing search on it or askjoe.com
Second why are all these new guys over clocking to 1.9 and expect their phone to be stable? Don't they read the forum of the kernel they flashed? Or just rush to general or q&a and post freezing problems. People you will get very good support if you post in the kernel you use or Rom your kernel came with the developers keep their eyes on that thread.
When did thunderbolt general become Verizon support if you have a network drop, don't make a thread for each city it is down in, call Verizon don't think every issue has to do with a radio or your kernel or your Rom.
If I helped you in any way please use the thank you button
aah - hahahaha!!! great idea for thread. how about the idiotic post like :

Sent from my SHIFTAO5P using XDA App
My personal favorites (not in any particular order) :
1. Lol/Lmao;
2. What is the best ROM; and
3. Just rooted what now?
Arrgh!
"It works great for me / works for me, thanks" (in reply to a new update of something) (use the "thanks" button ffs)
"How do I install this? (install directions mentioned in the OP)"
"This alpha/beta/testing software sure is buggy / why is feature x broken in this? (broken issue mentioned in the OP for said software) (followed by vague description/no description of what is broken without a logcat by user asking question)"
"What's the best ROM / Rooting Method?"
"Help! I installed a non-root user RUU on top of my rooted phone"
"When will we get x / what is the eta for x?" (x = gingerbread|ics|next phone|new rom|etc)
Asking a question already answered in the stickied common questions / noob guide in the Q/A forum.
Go look at the PRL thread in the Incredible General forum. I get reamed out and called every name in the book.... But I was the only one that produced an answer! I'm about to the point of letting these idiots twist in the wind. I'm tired of fools that can't find the answers that are basically fed to them. And if a mod has a problem with that frustration, oh well... Do the right thing and ban stupid, not me.
I like when someone throws an off topic question in a thread and others bite. Then if you are interested in the original topic you have to filter through all the garbage to see if any progress or good information was actually posted.

or asking about how to fix an issue that was asked just 2-3 pages back when it really shouldn't be asked in the topic thread at all (post it separately in q/a). This is why developers don't reply to their threads much. They just get to be a mess and they give up.
I just ignore those.... It's easy, everyone should try it !

The thought "help those who help themselves" always comes to mind when I see those posts !
Ya my other favorite one is when they ask which rom is the best.
I feel like asking them, so if I tell you to jump off a bridge will you do it?
If not, they why would you take what I say as the best rom as the gospel?
Roms are such a subjective thing. Some people like some things some like others.
My first Android phone was a G1, so I was pretty used to the "stock" experience. Even when I rooted, I stuck pretty much with Cyanogen.
When I got the bolt and realized Cyanogen was not really "available", I got into BAMF and I gotta tell you, they did a pretty impressive job with sense.
Before I would have just laughed at someone if they said sense was the way to go, but I really kinda like it now. So I know that even my viewpoint has changed somewhat.
I don't understand why these people cannot just go out and make up their own mind about which rom they like by just flashing them and trying them out. If they don't like it, they just nandroid back to what you had before they flashed the new rom.
I wonder if they all look like lemmings? Hmmmm.
I get so tired of people running AOSP ROMs creating new topics and stating in just about every AOSP ROM thread that they can't get a lock on their GPS...
Drunk texted from my CM7 Bolt
[RANT]Agreed. Google is my best friend. If I don't know how to do something when I cook my Rom, Google. When I need to know something about linux, Google.
STOP ASKING WHAT THE BEST ROM! THERE ISN'T A BEST ROM!!

I really think more people should go out of their way to make stupid people feel and look stupid.
People who post a question then an hour or 2 later say "so no one wants to help". This isn't a chatroom, people don't just wait around on the boards all day to answer questions.

XDA Rules Etiquette & Respect

Howdy all! If you've seen me around you'll know I love being an active member of these forums. With my job I have free time some days (some days NONE lol) and helping people makes me happy. I hate causing problems. But there has been a rash of interesting posts within the last 6 months (maybe going back farther but there has been an increase in the past 6 months that I've noticed) of people beginning their posts with:
" sorry for the noob question, but..."
Also, some start with, " sorry I did a search but I'm pressed for time and...."
OK. Look. When I joined up, I had to watch a video. It showed me how much of a noob I am, and told me to search, then search some more, and finally, SEARCH. Again. Now, maybe I'm crazy, but that is still XDA policy. Just because yer new, it doesn't give u an excuse to be lazy. Just because yer in a hurry , it doesn't give u the right to ignore the rules u agreed to when u signed up here.
I was a noob too. A year ago. Guess what? From day one I searched. And searched. And searched again. Why? Cause I love solving as many problems as I can ON MY OWN. Lets try and get back to that. Google search is a great tool. Yes the mobile app search is limited. But u have a browser on your phone. U can go to the actual site and search there as well. Remember, we're a community. And these rules are put in place to help us and maintain some semblence of order.
Remember folks when u search first, and don't post a new thread for something easily found, it not only looks better for u. But it reflects the respect u have for this community and its mods/devs.
Good luck all, happy flashing.
P.S. Red, if have to close this thread, just know this meets my quota for rants for the month.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
I like this guy, but I have low expectations.
I personally have NO issue reading "noobie" questions. Everyone is different and I don't expect they must act like me. For you, me and others who spot a so-called "noob question", if you don't want to help then report the thread/post to mod so they can take care of. Yelling at newbies just makes the matter worse and that have been proved for ......... like you said, the past 6 months.
What irritates me more is SAME person asking the SAME question by creating multiple threads.
Therefore, for us, seniors, if you're not willing to help then just simply walk away from the thread, don't post, don't act like you are the mod.
One other issue, don't be an ass-kisser here.
For newbie, pls read the sticky thread FIRST.
This is 100% correct but you are missing one other important word to go with your "rules, etiquette and respect" slogan and that word is "Attention"
People need to pay attention! So if you could just change the title of the thread to "Rules, Etiquette, Attention, and Respect" or R.E.A.R. for short? Then I think that will cover it. So next time someone asks a question in the wrong thread? I can just point them right to your R.E.A.R.
Most of us are coming to under stand that there is no help what so ever for what the old gaurd calls common qustions so we just go else where
I spent 18 hours sunday working on my phone and I am happy with the results.
The biggest problem is even the fairly detailed instructions leave out the tiniest simple things people do not think of because they just figure everyone on earth should know it.
take for example if you are trying to get your phone ready and going right now the easiest way is to use the directions and flash to a older SU rom then up grade it from there. I searched for hours and could not find an answer to a simple question on why Odin would not upload the files I was trying to load so I had CWM.
In the end the answer, which I figured out my self, was that Odin will not load the .zip files everyone uses for CWM. I accedently tripped over a kernel that was in a different format,.tar, and got lucky.
After that I soft bricked the phone a few times following directions and then ran across the Little bricker Rom that had GREAT directions and loaded first time perfectly.
So for you old timers I might say step back every once in a while when you are writing the great write ups you do and think of the first time you did it. It is the little things that count and are left out most of the time
As Android grows you are going to have to deal with it more and more and you just can't keep kicking people in the teeth or they will not return. GOOD you say? No not good. Not everyone wants an Apple and you do not want to wind up like Nokia or the old PDA platforms that are dead and gone.
So take this how you may. I did get where I needed to go but a simple 20 minute gig took 18 hours to figure out because of the little things all of you take for granted and do not always include.
Thank you for the site
All said here is true but as a noob i must say that there is a lack of usual information here.
A BIG lack...
The problem is visual.
The stickies was made by a dev. Just find a good NOOB to do it and youll be fine.
The first stickie must be how to flash a rom. But this one is not there. It is inside of another stickie at the line 157... cmon
The noob that decides to flash wont read all the stuff. He'll just read the info that he wants.

I don't think there is a lack of information, far from it. I think the problem is that the information is scattered. For example, the guy 2 posts up that tried to use a .zip in Odin...the information that you need to use a .tar is posted in these forums, it's just not in an easily accessible place like the FAQs. I think it's a combination of: lack of organization on the forum's side and laziness on the user's side.
Sorry about my english, there is a communication lack.
you are right, the info was there but people just dont get it...why is that?
Ive edited my previous post...
There is too much info. The noob needs the basic. Step by step he will learn.

you're not even a mod...what gives you the right to post this?
I think some of you have forgotten how this place originally came about and its primary purpose. It was and still is, mostly, a place for developers and development. It was never supposed to be a help desk. That it is a great resource for people needing help is a secondary byproduct, not its raison de'tre. I think this misunderstanding is what leads to incorrect assumptions and expectations and, in turn, hurt feelings when the forum doesn't meet what some think it should be.

I respectfully disagree. The noob does not need a step by step guide. The noob needs to read, research, and learn so that he (or she) can make sense of the available information. a quick guide so the noob "can haz ROM nao" is only going to lead to a disappointed, knowledge lacking noob later on down the line...

And you need to remember that the developers in here, for the most part, don't get paid for what they do. We get all their great stuff for free. Actually, we get it for the cost of doing our own research and finding our own solutions. Seems like a fair trade to me.
And as dandrum noted, helping noobs by leading them by the hand is a bad idea. People need to understand fully what they are doing and what it does because otherwise when they inevitably run into a problem they will have no idea what to do to fix it or where to start to even look. This stuff isn't rocket science, but it does require a certain level of comprehension. it is unfair to expect the unpaid members of this forum to bail people out when something goes wrong because they either didn't do their homework or have no understanding of what they're doing.

No they absolutely can complain because this is still a developer Site no matter how popular it becomes.

From my perspective I feel as though the vast majority of the time I have virtually no reason to post.
This is usually because of one of the following:
a- someone else has asked a question that I do not have the answer to, not that I'm a n00b but do not know or I would rather leave it up to the real devs to deal with it;
b- I would just be either flaming someone for asking a stupid question or leave a stupid question unanswered because some things should just be figured out by yourself; or most importantly
c- if i have a question or some other issue I can search for it or spend time reading through many posts because there are enough people and knowledgeable people around here that at this point my question or any sort of problem has already been answered, or at least the question has already been asked so there is no reason to spam the same questions over and over.
so just always remember before you make a possibly redundant post there are plenty of us sitting back and reading because usually that is all you need to do

Someone had to outline it
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2 Beta-5
**** has been outlined in almost every single thread I have look into.

I'd like to start a new thread for basic Atrix information. Kind of a Q and A thing.

Eg ...
What exactly is pre install?
Answer ?

What exactly does BP stand for?
And so on.. I bet it grows..

This is already covered in the n00b guide. Search the forums. I think it is on a sticky.

Most of that information is horribly horribly outdated. Example, not being able to flash att software on a bell or international atrix. I' ve done it a hundred times. Even lots of pre-bootloader unlock information is still posted as "the way to go".. This thread is a great way to breathe new life into the atrix, relevent ,updated questions and answers , and new working links being one asset. I for one, have some very complex questions and the "noob" info just ain't gonna cut it. I'm starting off simple but I am an advanced android user just new with the atrix and I need to ping-pong and brainstorm with other users at the same level and figured this was a great way to troll the xda site for those more advanced users. And I know the thread will grow because if I'm asking these atrix hardware specefic questions surely there are many others that would like to know the same. If I'm in any way wrong, I'm sure a moderator on the worlds most informative cellular reference site will take this thread down..

One of the moderators here wrote the n00b guide. It is the dude with the chuck Norris profile pic. I'm pretty sure he will have some suggestions.

Swiftks wrote the N00B guide quite some time ago before he was a forum moderator, and yes, a lot of the information in it is outdated now.
We have a Q&A section, which is where you posted this. If you would like an updated N00B guide then you will probably have to create one yourself, as I doubt Swift has the time to go through and update his. Posting a thread where people ask questions which are then answered in the thread will just cause things to end up being buried deep within pages of one thread. That's why there is a whole Q&A section. New questions are visible, and it's easier to search for already answered questions.
Additionally, any questions you ask have probably already been asked and answered, and on top of that, any answers you put in here may at some point become outdated also, and who will moderate keeping everything up to date in this thread. Much easier to just have the Q&A section which currently exists.
Oh ok .. my bad.. I was probably being a little greedy trying to create one place that had somewhat updated information and especially links.. kinda all in one spot newish. I definitely see your point but figured with some of the silly-fun posting, like ban the one above you, the forum could afford the hard drive space with another thread.. I can abandon the thread if everyone feels it should be... one thing for sure there wouldn't be any megaupload links in it, *yay* lol

Also, the problems I am having no one seems to have a straight answer.. bp issues seem to be taboo, and subject has been barely touched.. once I resolve these issues im having, my activities in the ATRIX forum will be pretty much helping other users with the information i've learned along the way to getting this horribly ota messed up 'trix up,running, and stable..

Oops.. I see what might have happened here. I made a mistake in using the wrong terminology. I didn't mean a new thread, I just meant the subject within the q&a thread. . Not sure but does that seem to make more sense caelant? Bottom line, I'd like to be able to come to xda/Motorola atrix/ q&a/,, I dunno, "q&a/atrix woes" for example, for new up to date information/links on problems that many people seem to be having at this time. . Problems such having to boot in no BP mode, ext 3-4 questions, more info on the recovery menu with the early usb enumeration option and such and what do all the options in there do and how to use them, file system layout, heat issues, basically problems that I see others are having as well lately.. I'm not lazy or anything, lol, I just think that if I kept all my findings restricted to this one area I'm in now , myself, and other atrix owners would greatly benefit... I have concentrated a lot of my time into each and every android device I've ever worked on, and theres quite a few and I must say this frickin atrix is the trickiest yet.. I love it though and can't put it down I've brought a few black screens back to life and this atrix o/s was damaged by an incomplete/completely botched ota update from bell froyo to GB then back to froyo.. My specialty you could say is finding the weirdest most improbable obstacles in everything I do and overcoming them. I like this atrix, even though the touch screen feels like an old lg gw620 eve,...lol (again). I have come a long way with the bricked unit I was dropped off and believe I can go a lot further if I stay right here.. I am more than willing to share and brainstorm my findings on this project with all the fine atrix users here on xda.. if I'm outta line , please people speak up..I think this whole idea can do no harm, and can only see positive results. I dunno, flame me people if I'm mistaken.. All the typing I've already done here I could of solved all the issues and shared the information. I know i could be a real asset to many Motorola users along with a few other manufactured brands here on xda....I'm new here but nit at the game.. seems this area is already getting polluted with my explaining my actions, which is exactly what I wanted to get away from. I do over explain don't i....but I do like to try to be thorough.. Grin.. cheers guys.. let's let majority rule..

Not trying to flame you. I just see a Q&A thread in a Q&A forum as kind of redundant.
My advice would be search for any relevant threads and post in the thread specific to your issue/problem. If there is nothing that is quite the same as your issue/problem, then just create a new thread. I think one of the main things is making sure the thread title clearly states what the thread is about, and make sure to state it is not the same as any similar problems you have found in searches.
Also a good idea to mark a thread as [SOLVED] when it has been, and also make sure to post in the thread what the resolution was so others can see it.
Excellent , very well stated.Keen outlook you have I will admit.,I assumed as much looking over your busy post history. I wouldn't go as far as saying redundant though considering you must assume I have searched for the relevant information I need prior to even thinking of opening this subject "sub thread", (for lack of a better word), I'm just getting a little frustrated with this particular phone because I feel its all about this BP issue and I can't, for the life of me anywhere find much BP information about the atrix. You'd think with such options in the volume down boot menu as the trix has there'd be tons of information on repairing BP issues considering there's 4 or 5 options directly related to it in that fast boot menu.. Between trying to isolate applications and processes which are causing random/frequent reboots and repairing this BP error I must say I'm almost at wits end. Perhaps if you had these problems you might see that pertinent information is next to nill and very vague totally irrevelant or just pkain amature.. I really respect your advice and thank you for it, I can tell you also have a sharp mind, I'm just having a little trouble understanding why you wouldn't support an area, any area where dead links , outdated information, and general chit-chat about unrelated topics would be at a minimum. I'm so fed up of wading through mega-dead-load links, unrelated questions , and inexperienced advice. I don't have the time for that and its looking endless.. I've only had one brick in my repertoire, an x10, and it died mysteriously in my wifeys purse, and patience is running thin for me. I don't want to give up on a phone and throw it in the parts drawer, one that I've brought back to life and is scoring 4000 ish in quadrant scores, but I've been searching for about two weeks now and I've found next to nothing valuable besides a few nice fastwipe scripts. Really zero information on what I know is a common enough problem . What does everyone do, just junk such an intriguing piece of equipment? I'd Hate to say , sometime down the road, I used to have an atrix, worked well now and then, but there was one problem I just couldn't beat. That's gonna eat me up.. while it runs and doesn't reboot it makes my tweaked out infuse look silly and is Running close to my s2. I'm just about out of energy on this one. Has no one in the world fixed or even explored repairing BP issues? Thanks for listening caelent but let's not state the obvious.

Anyways, turns out my atrix touchscreen, for whatever reason is confirmed to be broken. Was worth a try.. I hope this isn't the case with all the other users. Sorry guys.. I'll have to find me another one , but they're pretty scarce around here. Later people.. was fun trying..

[Q] Question..I don't understand...

I am confused as to why its ok to ask a question such as "What is the best launcher out there?" but when its asked "What is the best ROM out there?", the thread gets reported and locked. They are both based off user opinion. I will not "report" the thread on the launchers because that is Dumb to me. People ask a question for answers. Could somebody please give a logical explanation for this? It's a forum. People are interested in topics. As long as its in the question section, I don't understand the problem with asking a question.....
i hear you..and im sorry to say ..my opinion is it depends on peoples moods in the forum sometimes..sometimes its a superiority complex (SOMETIMES) if you ask me..
if someone asks a question that i might be able to point them in the right direction, i will respond..if not i just move on to the next. idk homey ...ive been hanging around xda since my captivate and its very useful..
if people flame your thread or close it, dont take it to heart, just rephrase the question lol...
i use apex launcher..ROCKS.. nova is also badass
and the ROM i use is ICS objection, i love my new phone thanks to this rom its clean smooth and no issues for me.. if you go down for this post im going down wicha brah!!!
Thanks

Much appreciation. I am on the OnlyOne HYFR B4 ROM and currently no launcher just TouchWiz that comes with the ROM...I been here since my Droid Milestone from Alltel but never really got involved til my Droid X. Don't get me wrong, I love XDA and all the help that comes with it, just thought it was a little crazy that they instantly hated on my thread. I feel ALL people and ALL questions deserve a spot. I'm not really taking it to heart..just wish it would have been given a chance like the rest of some of these threads. Thanks though for the support on what I'm saying..
no problem homey!!!
Ics=apex for options, and trebuchet for aosp feel, with few options, just fast.

Asking what the best ROM is, is not actually a bad question. However it gets asked way too much. A new member will pop the question when right underneath him is the same question already asked a few times. And of course as you mentioned, best is not the best for everyone.
But I would have to say the main reason is it isn't fair to rate and judge one XDA Dev's work over another Dev. They all have positives and yes some negatives. It's not like there are 100 ROMs listed. The first 2 pages of threads will tell all. The threads are rated and the number of responses are a good hint. And you will learn more by spending some time reading and searching yourself even if you only read the first and last few posts in a thread. You could ask that question and have 3 noobs recommend a ROM all because it looks cool and it may be the worst performing ROM ever.
The launchers are for the most part, finished work. And they are offsite Devs. Also there isn't a thread on XDA for every launcher like there are ROMs. And questions about launchers should only be asked in the apps and themes section.
Question answered, thread closed
The biggest problem with 'Best' ROM threads is that they usually descend into petty bickering, which is why they are reported and ultimately closed.
