[Q] correcting a mistake: flashed 10.1v odins on 10.1 - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
I made a mistake and flashed 10.1v odins (bootloader, pda & another one) on to my Google io 10.1
I have been trying to flash my 10.1 with all kinds of boot/system imgs ever since but nothing seems to affect the 10.1v bootscreen that permanently shows up now. not sure what else is different internally. I have been working on this for almost 2 days now and have tried cw recoveries, fastboots and so on.
any ideas?
it looks like the only hope will be to flash google io 10.1 specific odins.
also, is the boot image different from the bootloader? i keep deleting and reflashing the boot image but the boot screen is still the 10.1v
Thx!

Update
Ok its me again. nothing worked.
I sent the Tab in for repair. Looks like Samsung couldn't fix it either. They are sending me a replacement unit. Hopefully they will send a Google IO LE device and not a retail unit!
Im still curious why I couldn't get rid of the 10.1v boot screen. Anyone knows?

io version
if Samsung has to send u a brand new unit, it will most likely be a retail version. make sure u specify which color u want (white or metalic grey). remember: the io versions were limited editions and not readily available to everyone.
~cheers

And they're not charging you? Sweet. I totally hosed mine and I was worried they either just wouldn't do anything with it, or would charge an arm and a leg. Glad to hear that's not the case. Or, seems like it anyway.
Sorry you ran into this, but I'm glad they're taking care of it for you.

[Q] Corrupt boot screen (see attachment). re-flashing does not fix it

EDIT: Go figure I look a bit more and found similar threads here and here.
I've been trying to find a thread on this but haven't been successful. Sorry in advance if there is one already.
I have the GT-P7510 wifi only tablet.
When I first got it I installed this kernel so I could overclock to 1.4ghz.
I wanted to try to see if would do 1.6ghz from here.
Thats when I had problems. When it booted the screen shows "Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1" but before it shows the boot animation and shows "Samsung" again, the screen looks corrupt (See attachment). It will still boot and goes away after a few seconds.
If I try to install a new kernel again it boots however the screen is worse and will not go away even though the touchscreen works and I can press the soft keys.
I tried going to a nandroid backup I had but it still has the same problem.
I also tried to install the US stock retail wifi however cwm will not install it (I assume because I bought the tablet in Canada).
Has anyone had experience with this?
Reflashing new roms/kernels so far has not fixed it, I have tried a few.
Have you tried a stock rom via odin?

Player Bricked

I used Oden to flash a Samsung Galaxy S II rom to it and now, it only shows the Samsung logo at bootup. No recovery menu. If I try to access the recovery menu, it kicks me out and reboots. Samsung galaxy player 5.0 All Touch Buttons including home.
If you can get into download mode by holding volume down at boot, you can just reflash stock.

Um, okay, for future reference NEVER FLASH ANYTHING NOT SPECIFICALLY MADE FOR YOUR DEVICE! I learned that the hard way, so not saying your stupid, just think a little more before you try to flash a rom for a dual core phone that's only resemblence to a Galaxy player is the word Galaxy. I find that for some reason, each phone has to have a different strain of android, and their roms never, NEVER, mix. So, I am stating this just to warn others new to android, not to make you look bad (I made a similar mistake of trying to flash cwm that someone assured me couldn't possibly brick my device, what a noob I was!).
Yup... NEVER flash something not designed for your device unless you know EXACTLY what the hardware differences are and how to deal with them, or you've been given specific instructions on how to port firmwares to your device.
(I9100 ROMs are so easy to run on I777 that they can be autoported with a CWM-flashable package now, but that's because the I777 is 95% identical to I9100. There will be nothing that can be "hellraised" to the Players, except possibly being able to creat "common" ROMs that target both International and US with a small zip file containing the differences flashable in CWM.)
Mate, I'm in the same boat where you used to be. Just a little worse.
Long story short: flashed, by mistake, the entire i9000 rom, including boot loaders, through Odin. Got a "black screen", "no reaction" brick. Computer won't detect no matter what button combo I throw at it.

I need some details about jtag and the micro-usb port. Also, in the current state, can I try to format a sd card & see if the player recovers from it? Like the Samsung Development Board? When everything is screwed, the usb pins can be used as a jtag port to avoid opening the device, even though I already did it.
PS: I've already located the 12 pins (jtag) & another 4 points on the main board. Just don't know how to check if the second ones are also jtag. The blue coating is also scrapped & ready.
Thanks.
Peace.
You might want to try AdamOutler oneclickrecovery before messing with JTAG. You can find it here.
This will upload a bootloader so you can re-flash the device with odin.
I have tried to recover my YP-GB70 (32gb korean version) with AdamOutler tools with 80% success.
Anyway thanks a lot for the tool and your great help.
What I did:
under odin I flashed original YP-GB70 32gb PIT plus the provided "AdamOutler bootloader and the latest korean firmware (pb is the same with any earlier FW version)
The result i got is almost perfect, i passed SAMSUNG logo, the boot ring tone and went the GALAXY sky where it stay looping. (All wipes where done before.)
My questions are:
-What is missing in this Flash process?
-Is the bootloader specific for US version or device related?
-Any idea of what I should do to succeed?
You are welcome to expertize this issue because a solution will be a good tool for many imprudent guys like me.
attached picks of 3 diferent trials done lately.

[Q] Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 Verizon LTE (sch-i905) bricked, no recovery

Verizon Galaxy Tab 10.1 4G LTE (sch-i905)
So I got this tablet from a friend who said it was bricked, said I could have it if I got it working. So I plug it in and it turns on no problem, strange. wiped tablet and added a couple apps. Got busy at work and the tablet drain power. That's when I got to see it bricked, but still not sure why it booted for a bit for me.
Symptoms:
Boots to Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 splash screen (not the animated one after), sits there for ever.
Boots to Odin update mode
When booting to recovery I get a blank, back lit screen and nothing ever.
I've tried:
-Pushing clockwork mode to fix recovery
-I've had a hell of a time finding stock firmware for some reason (it isn't on sammobile), but I did find one eventually. I pushed it to the tablet via Odin, and it was successful, but rebooted to blank black back-lit screen. Have to hard boot and hold power buttun until I see the splash screen to get that far. I followed the guide on rootzwiki reposted on icsforums - www icsforums com/forum/showthread / 13525 (sorry new member can't post links)
-Followed another guide that involved draining battery completely, no go.
I don't care what firmware I end up on, or if I can use LTE (I won't anyway)
I'm a network engineer so I'm tech savy, but not heavy on Android OS. I'm looking for anything else I can try. I saw another method involving heimdall suite, but can't find the files for my model.
Any help or guidance is greatly appreciated.
@Juicebox4242
I had this problem on my gt-p7510...
What I ended up doing was wiping my sdcard..I must have had something corrupt in my file system or a kernel issue( still not sure which )..
Since you have no recovery..I think you can use odin to repartition ( I CAN NOT STRESS ENOUGH THAT THIS IS JUST A GUESS )..I have not tried it..but i will search after this post to confirm..I also believe there is a way using ADB..again not sure..
I just wanted to post this so you would know somebody was looking and to maybe give you a couple ideas to follow up on...I'll search around and see what I find
Edit...I believe ADB will only work with usb debugging checked...But you can flash a stock rom in odin with re-partition checked..you need a .pit file....I think...
Edit...Here is a link to a stock rom thread for you're device..It seems to have helped a couple people with their soft-bricked devices..just follow directions in OP..no repartition checked. I cant even find a .pit file to do a re-partition with for you're device..
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1342995 Let me know if this works for you..
Thanks for the post!! Really appreciate it.
That firmware is the one I found in the end and tried. Odin pushes it ok, but then still doesn't boot. In fact after pushing that firmware it boots to backlit blank screen, but when hard reset boots to splash screen.
I tried a pit file I found that I thought was the right one, but it failed when I used that so it must have been wrong.

I have the exact same problem as you, except sometimes I can't my tablet to boot. I know it is a software problem because before I was messing with recovery yesterday, everything was working just fine. All I wanted to do was restore to factory settings and instead ended up bricking the device... If you find / know the answer, please do share.

Did you ever get this fixed? I've had the same problem for months. I just gave up and put it away. I recently fixed a Galaxy Tab 2 and now I want to see if anyone else was able to fix this i905 not booting issue.
did anyone know the solution of this question

[Q] Galaxy S II NAND issues

After recently updating my S II to CM 10.2, some battery issues occurred. When i reflashed my phone to CM 10.1, the phone had boot issues.
My situations can be summarized with the following symptoms:
The phone does not boot normally, and doesn't even turn on at all while it's not charging
When the phone is charging, the charging screen appears in a loop. It doesn't give an actual battery reading, but reboots instead.
Download mode is accessible and I'm still able to flash using Odin.
Recovery mode is not accessible.
According to numerous other threads, these symptoms indicate a NAND r/w corruption. My bootloader could be damaged too.
I have already followed many guides to fix this issue. None of them had these symptom combinations as my phone. These threads didn't solve my problems. I also tried Samsung kies to reset it to factory, but it returned an error message in Korean instead.
What kind of brick is this? And how can I make my phone boot normally again?
I really appreciate your help.
Thread moved to the i9100 section.
If I were you, I'd flash JB leak in Odin. It's a 3 part firmware which will wipe your phone as it flashes and gives a good chance of it booting normally. Worth a shot at least. It's firmware XXLSJ, google search 'JB leak i9100 samfirmware' and it'll be one of the first links. Flash the 3 parts of the firmware as it describes.
Edit: that's assuming you have an i9100, not i9100g/othet variant. If it's another variant font flash that.

Unfortunately, that didn't work.
Does someone have another suggestion?

Motherboard replacement. Or you can keep trying; these things have a funny habit of not working for the first 22 flashes you try (as an example), but for whatever reason the 23rd works. Unless the NAND really is borked.
I think it's time for me to get a new phone.
Thanks to everyone who replied to the topic!

I got my phone working again. My phone had indeed a nand rw corruption, but the boot issues were caused by a defective battery.

Did I Brick My Samsung Tab 2 10.1?

Hello. I have a 2012 Samsung Tab 2 that was branded for ATT and the model number is SGH 1497. It has been in a drawer for a year and I never use it but I thought I would experiment with it and try to install the Marshmellow Rom even though I am a noob at this stuff. My first problem was that I saw nothing for my version SGH 1497 but I did read on a forum that the Rom 5113 would work for that model. After going through a lot of websites I finally found one that seemed pretty easy and the root process went perfectly for me, no issues at all. I then followed instructions and downloaded the needed files and moved them onto my tablet and all was going well. I was then instructed to boot into recovery mode and that is where my troubles started. I believe it said to hold power and volume down key. Recovery mode would pop onto the screen but then vanish and it would never go into it. So I did more reading and someone had posted that I needed to download the toolkit and re-install a new recovery mode. So I did that just fine and still the same thing happened. I then tried 2-3 more of the other recovery modes and the same thing happened. At that time the tablet would still boot normally. So then I did something else and now my tablet wont turn on anymore. If I push power enough times the Samsung logo will pop onto the screen and then it goes away and that's it. It will turn on to download mode but that is it. Nothing else. Im not upset because I knew this could happen but I surely should have came here first. Is there anything I can do to get this thing back working again or is it hopeless??
Thank you for any help and advice.
Thomas
I was able to fix it by finding the exact same firmware that ATT put on this tablet and then using Odin to flash it. Works fine and is rooted.
Does anyone know of a custom rom that will work on this model sgh 1497??
Thanks.
