There are three recoveries according to my knowledge..
1.freexperia recovery
2.xrecovery 0.3
3.xrecovery 1.0
Different devs suggest or prefer different recoveries..
I just wanna know what is the difference between three of these.. they look same.. with same features and same way to enter them..!!!!!!
xrecovery(0.3 and 1.0) is at /system/bin
FreeXperia Recovery is at /system/recovery.
Xrecovery 1.0 supports edify scripts where as xrecovery 0.3 and FreeXperia recovery supports Amend scripts.
Xrecovery 0.3 and FreeXperia recovery have similar features where as xrecovery 1.0 has different/additional features..
1.0 has more options, but it gave me errors when trying to update Wolfbreak's rom and I downgraded to 0.3
May I have another question related to Xrecovery here? I wonder whether the apk file in Mediafire link in the first post of this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571 has been fixed the issue of offline charging or not (as I have a habit of turning off my phone when charging ), and as because this original thread lasts up to 141 pages, I cannot find out the answer in itself T.T
Thanks for your help!

I am going to root and flash a buddies phone later this afternoon to a generic 2.1.58 release and install Cyanogen 6.1.3 wit the Gingerbread Theme on a buddies phone later this afternoon. But I have a question.
So that I don't have to go through trial and error, is there a specific version of xRecovery I have to have installed?
I am looking at this -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110998
Do I use the one for 2.1 or 2.2 or the one for all...2.1/2.2/2/3?
And for me to install the 2.2....do I install 2.1, then apply the 2.2 hotfix?
I can't remember what I have loaded on my phone.
From the thread you linked:
[*] AS ZDZIHU IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE ISSUES IN xRecovery v1.0.0 and removed links in his thread... I advise you to kindly wait for some time before trying out this new Recovery[*]
Use 0.3, its all you need right now. When xrecovery 1.0 is stable they will release a new flashtool that has it.
Anywho, why not just use flashtool to do all of that?
-Get flashtool and flash the stock firmware you want (new ones are 2.1
-Use flashtool to install xrecovery version 0.3.
-Put the correct baseband for your desired rom
-flash your rom/cm settings and any baseband fixes
hi,
how can i get the multitouch working with the new foryo comb 1.5 version ?
before i had 1.3 and also got some troubles with the multitouch, but afer installing the multitouch fix it worked. now i cant install it cause the new froyo comb has cwm instead of xrecovery.
also tried to install the files per root explorer but didnt work.
there seem to be 2 different versions of the x10mini pro, one which works with the stock froyo comb multitouch driver and one that should work with the fix.
so i need a multitouch fix working with cwm.
any suggestions ?
yes use d4 xrecovery apk,,that way you can swap easily between xrec and cwm recovery as you need them
Install slade87's CM6
or go with stock...

Hi everybody!
I am very new in playing with ROMs and custom kernels, so I kindly ask your help!
I would like to try the latest fantastic zKernel 2.6.29 (link to thread HERE) on my Stock SE 2.1 ROM but I don't know very well how to perform certain operations. In particular:
1) How to check which xRecovery I have inside my phone?
2) How to move from my actual baseband (52) to the suggested one (67)?
3) Once I install the kernel through xRecovery (just choose ZIP and install right?), how to go back to the stock one in case something wrong happens?
4) Before new kernel installation, do I have to perform some cache cleaning or other similar stuff through xRecovery?
5) Other steps needed/suggested to do?
Many many thanks in advance!! And please remember I'm only a poor newbie!!
Before flashing the custom kernel, I recommend going to:

It should really help you understand what you need to do.
thanks for this!
I was reading [HOW-TO] Install CM7 ROM on 2.3.3 ROMs (based on SE 2.3.3 FW) {PICTURE GUIDE} CWM great guide from DoomLord and I was wondering if I could use at the same time DooMKernel - "Power to The People"
It is complaining about the scripts being amend instead of edify and amend being deprecated and dropped in CWM 3.x (the guide being for CWM 4.0).
So I'm basically just moving to CM7 from Stock 2.3.3, the guided post for the upgrade was followed and it got rid of recovery 0.3 (at least back key isn't pulling it up and I know it still works with amend scripting) and instead using CWM (I believe that's what it's called, new thing that appears pressing volume down on the FreeXperia boot logo).
I would really like be to use the undervolting functionality from the doomkernel and get better battery life... I wonder if there's any adviced path or if I should try flashtool to get xrecovery again and perhaps try another installation steps to avoid CWM, or I don't know, any hints/advices are welcome even if it is upgrading amend scripts to edify.
(I should have posted this in dev maybe but I need like 10 posts to get the grant and this is my first post ever, also sorry if I break some rules and/or it's all plain nonsense)
The new baseband is no longer compatible with old kernels and I think u need to be on baseband 71 for jerepleas rom
