I am going to root and flash a buddies phone later this afternoon to a generic 2.1.58 release and install Cyanogen 6.1.3 wit the Gingerbread Theme on a buddies phone later this afternoon. But I have a question.
So that I don't have to go through trial and error, is there a specific version of xRecovery I have to have installed?
I am looking at this -
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110998
Do I use the one for 2.1 or 2.2 or the one for all...2.1/2.2/2/3?
And for me to install the 2.2....do I install 2.1, then apply the 2.2 hotfix?
I can't remember what I have loaded on my phone.
From the thread you linked:
[*] AS ZDZIHU IS CURRENTLY INVESTIGATING THE ISSUES IN xRecovery v1.0.0 and removed links in his thread... I advise you to kindly wait for some time before trying out this new Recovery[*]
Use 0.3, its all you need right now. When xrecovery 1.0 is stable they will release a new flashtool that has it.
Anywho, why not just use flashtool to do all of that?
-Get flashtool and flash the stock firmware you want (new ones are 2.1
-Use flashtool to install xrecovery version 0.3.
-Put the correct baseband for your desired rom
-flash your rom/cm settings and any baseband fixes

You downloaded the sources.
That's not what you need unless you're a developer yourself. Go back to that thread and download the actual firmware. The link for it can be found in the upper half of the first post of that thread.
Javagreen is certainly correct. You should click on the very first link in the first post of the 2.3.2 / CM7 thread.
You should get a rar file of about 100 Mo. Unrar it and you can do 3 things:
- if you need a .4x baseband, open the basband folder and use the included flashtool to flash the correct baseband to your phone
- push the update_xxxx.zip to your sdcard and flash the rom with xrecovery
- push various apps to your sdcard and install them using OI file manager or any app installer.
I can't find a way to install Cyanogenmod and now my phone is bricked, but that's no problem I can work that out.
But I have installed maybe 100 times a ROM and it almost everytime works, but I can't install Cyanogenmod8 V7.0, V7.5, V7.5 Hotfix 1.
I've tried it many times but I can't get it to work.
I also swiped everything that had that option in xRecovery but I ALWAYS get a boot loop at SE logo.
Before I tried to install Cyanogenmod8 V7.0 I had Cyanogenmod8 V6.5 installed that worked like a charm.
However, it costs some time and work to update with SEUS, flash, root, install xRecovery manually, install a custom ROM etc. so I want to know what ROM the best is to install before you install Cyanogenmod8 V8.0
Aparently, you can't install Cyanogenmod8 V8.0 from either 6.5, 7, 7.5 and 7,5 with hotfix installed.
Btw, my MD5 hash matched the ones people in the topic posted.
Thanks in advance!
A few things:
1) It's not called Cyanogenmod 8 (that would be Cyanogenmod based on an Android kernel that hasn't been released yet).
2) The safest way to install a ROM is by getting the lastest official ROM from Sony (through SEUS) and then flashing your ROM.
3) Are you sure you're following the instructions??....most if not all reboot loops are caused by people not following the instructions.
you need the baseband and kernel that are listed in the first post otherwise new build will just cause bootloop

I Owain,
I believe that can be the cause why I cannot update CM7v.6 to CM7v.8!
I have currently CM7v.6 with:
Smallbandversion: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404006
Kernel-version: 2.6.29
So the last 2 digits are different, it should be:
Smallbandversion: M76XX-TSNCJOLYM-53404015
Kernel-version: 2.6.29
But why I am abble to install CM7v.6 and not CM7v.8?
How can I upgrade Smallbandversion to the correct?
Thanks

Thanks Owain!
But where can I find the last Baseband?
Can you please add the file to the CM7 thread and a small explanation how to update it?
As soon as I do it I will report it here.
Rgs.
Well I think I understand how to do it!
Need only 3 steps to change baseband for X10 Mini Pro:
1 - Download specific Baseband file for your X10 Mini Pro
Basebands for X10 Mini Pro (still looking for U20a firmwares)
2 - Download last FlashTool application
[TOOL] [UPDATE 22/03/2011] Flashtool BETA version 0.2.9.1
3 - Install baseband using Flashtool

Owain, wich file I need to use for my X10 mini pro pt-pt?
The one from step 1 or one from step 3?
Thanks

Hello guys,
I have a problem trying to install the custom rom from rendeiro2005
I rooted my phone, backed up everything using xRecovery. I have also changed my baseband to 2.1.55
When I try to install my rom with xRecovery it says that i need to switch my script from amend to Edify, but I don't have any idea how I am supposed to do that.
Is it a problem with my phone or is it just the rom which isn't correct for my phone?
my specs:
Model: x10i
firmwareversion: 2.1-update 1
baseband 2.1.55
kernel version 2.6.29 [email protected]#1
build-number 2.1.A.0.435
I hope you guys would be nice to help me out , because I'm fairly new to this stuff.
Niek
you have X Recovery V1.0 ! That only uses Edify Scripts.
Most custom ROM?s here are AMEND scripts, so you need to install XRecover V0.3
this might sound very dumb, but where do i get 0.3 xrecovery, I indeed downloaded 1.0 auto-installer but I can nowhere find the 0.3-release
Edit: never mind guys, I got it.
There are three recoveries according to my knowledge..
1.freexperia recovery
2.xrecovery 0.3
3.xrecovery 1.0
Different devs suggest or prefer different recoveries..
I just wanna know what is the difference between three of these.. they look same.. with same features and same way to enter them..!!!!!!
xrecovery(0.3 and 1.0) is at /system/bin
FreeXperia Recovery is at /system/recovery.
Xrecovery 1.0 supports edify scripts where as xrecovery 0.3 and FreeXperia recovery supports Amend scripts.
Xrecovery 0.3 and FreeXperia recovery have similar features where as xrecovery 1.0 has different/additional features..
1.0 has more options, but it gave me errors when trying to update Wolfbreak's rom and I downgraded to 0.3
May I have another question related to Xrecovery here? I wonder whether the apk file in Mediafire link in the first post of this topic: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571 has been fixed the issue of offline charging or not (as I have a habit of turning off my phone when charging ), and as because this original thread lasts up to 141 pages, I cannot find out the answer in itself T.T
Thanks for your help!

you need to update to stock 2.3 you can do with lg updater tool or kdz updater also if if you don't want to update then you can install mik os cm7.1 or A8 and you can install any obb(old baseband) or you can flash old baseband fix patch you can find this patch on p500 forum but make sure 1st install rom then flash patch
any links to those roms you mentioned i've used the search and can't find which to use like do i just copy and paste on sd card then load with clockwork mod manager to reflash the phone and when you say add a patch how do i do that ? sorry if this is too much of a bother for you but how else are we to learn?
i just figured it out thx for all your help
