Change and/or create a bootanimation, the beloved FLIPOUT :D - Flipout and Charm Themes and Apps

Hello friends of the forum "XDADevelopers"
This is my first post in the forum, I hope will be useful.
First of all I want to say this I am translating with google translator is that I'm not good with English, I apologize
While waiting for the glorious arrival of some ROM Froyo (Android 2.2) for our FLIPOUT modear or at least get the current version we have a
faster and with all the benefits we want (In this post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1110941 there is a rom that I have not tested but looks good )
Perhaps you are someone who wants to get their hands on the system files and make an occasional change, of course, changes do not affect the integrity of our cel, because there are all kinds of tutorials but there are times when things do not go as want and then, goodbye FLIPOUT.
This time I bring a small tuto that can be performed without problems, the procedure is simple.
It is, as the title says, to change and create a bootanimation.
Yes, to change the operator logo that appears in our current bootanimation, in my case "Vomistar."

I researched and managed to create some as bootanimation abound on the Internet at high resolutions (for other high-end smartphone) and there is absolutely nothing for our beloved FLIPOUT, so these bootanimation must be unique in its kind in the entire network (I hope not to exaggerate).
Hands to work:
'Before I tell you something, my cel Android is version 2.1-update 1, theirs must be the same.
-So I usually put the operators hand and manage the software and put them on bootanimation with your logo.
-When turning on the cel, the first thing that comes out is a picture called "Splash" in my cel is this:
The mine is the Motorola logo. I want to see yours, take it a photo? And SHARING.
This can not be changed at the moment is a bit complicated (If you're a large)
-NOT CHARGING THE BOOTANIMATION of their respective operations, so I go up, I would appreciate yours to be appreciated.
-To do all these steps have to have your cel "root".
They also need the "Root Explorer" (To access the Android system folders) can be downloaded here (Because the Market is not ): CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD.
-ALWAYS REMEMBER TO MAKE A BACKUP FILES COPIED, ALWAYS!
Choose the bootanimation they like personally, I like that make some mischief to "Apple"
If you do not like any, below I'll show you to your own
All come in 320x240 resolution, I took the time to square and put a good quality (13MB weighing there, it's worth because they are stretched or pixelized)

CHANGE BOOTANIMATION
Step: 1
All steps will be using the "Root explorer".
They should know that there are 2 access routes to the bootanimation (I've tried putting in any of the 2 routes of 10 and it worked, but decided to opt
FOLLOWING the path: "data-> local", is simpler because we need not give permission to the script).
One is:
"/ Data / local" = It is not necessary to stick to our bootanimation permissions (I did a backup of the file that was here, come on. Zip I tried to unzip but I could not secure the same thing will happen)
Use this route, do not cause problems.
And another:
"System / media" = To paste the bootanimation here must give write permissions "MountR / O"
Picture 1
This route was the bootanimation of "Vomistar." Leave it well, do not change.
WE WILL NOT USE THIS ROUTE
COME TO ROUTES 2 BOOTANIMATION and copy, just in case. IF AFTER MAY, I would appreciate if THE RISE TO ANY SERVER AND SHARE, THANKS IN ADVANCE.
Now:
-Copy the bootanimation they like the SD card.
-In "Root Explorer", go to the SD card.
The path is:
"/ Sdcard /"
Picture 2
Diringanse which hit the bootanimation and copy it (To copy a file from the "Root Explorer", should maintain pressure on the file until it comes out options)
Picture 3
Picture 4
Picture 5
After copying the file, they will 2 options at the bottom:
"Paste and Cancel", do not translate to know what it means.
Then go to the route (standard SD card, just go back, use the back arrow)
"/ Data / local" (as shown in the image) and press "Paste" (No need to give write permissions "MountR / O" for this).
Overwrite the file located there.

Reset the cel and see the changes to the load.
CREATE A BOOTANIMATION
Creating a bootanimation is something simple (simple is the uploading ) Depends on the knowledge they have about image editing and video editing, etc, etc.
For this we will use an interesting video I've seen (as for a bootanimation).
Located in the youtube and this is the direction (Or they can choose a video of your choice; D):
Download with Free YouTube and the "No conversion" (or the program of your choice), so that does not affect its quality.
Once downloaded, turn them in. Avi 320x240 resolution (this resolution is relative, can set the size you wish).
For this I use a program called "Xilisoft Video Converter Ultimate 5.1.39," is very good, you can search by Google or San taringa San haha
Because the video has a resolution larger and may have a conflict with the program at the time to take pictures of GIF.
Once converted the file. Avi, paseremos to make picture boxes.
For this we need the help of this small program: GIF Animator 5 is portable and works on version 10! CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD
The run, and let the option:
File -> New
Picture 12
FOLLOWING in the sale, we put on for size: 320x240, otherwise leave it at that.
Picture 13
Now, proceed to load the video into. Avi. For this, press on:
File-> Add video
Picture 14
Once you have chosen our video, the program will ask if we replace the existing table with the start of the video, if you give.
Picture 15
We waited a while, until fresh
Picture 16
Once loaded all the video, export it.
File-> Save-> Image
Picture 17
Next, we will ask a folder to save our video.
Put any name (The program will automatically offer you a number to the tables)
The check "Export all frames" must be selected (by default the images are pictures in. PNG)
Picture 18
Close the program (no need to save, unless you want)
We can see the selected folder is full of pictures
The following programs will use is:
"Adobe ImageReady CS2," look it up in the San Google (I've seen portable versions in Taringa )
Picture 19
Note:
To see the different windows editing ImageReady, go to "Window" and activate the windows they want to see.
That matter most are:
Layers
Animation
By default when you press on the "Window-> Workspace-> default palette locations", you can not see the window "Animation."
In ImageReady, create a new document:
File-> New
Picture 20
Next, we ask that we put a name to our work (Place you want)
And the size, we can: 320x240 (This is the screen size that supports our FLIPOUT)
The option that says "content of the first layer," not very important (I put white)
And we give OK
Picture 21
After we got our picture box (created with GIF Animator)
File-> Import-> Folder as frames
Picture 22
Select the folder and OK. This takes a little bit.
Picture 23
We see pictures of images loaded into a new document
Picture 24
Now for the NEXT window (the window that says "Animation." To activate this window, go to "Window" and activate the check on "Animation") and press the button with the symbol "Play" and choose "Select all tables."
Picture 25
Then we come back to press the botóon "Play" and choose the option "Copy Pictures".
Picture 26
We closed our current window and save the changes, we "No" (Do not worry we have already copied the pictures)
Picture 27
We return to our document created and click on the button "Play" and choose "Paste Frames".
Picture 28
The table comes out, choose the option:
"Paste the selection", wait a while and go.
Picture 29
They stick all the pictures in the "Animation" and in the "Layers."
In the "Layers" delete a file that is named "Background".
Picture 30
Now select all the frames of the video (In the window that says "Animation") Press the "Play" and choose "Select All Frames."
Note: You can also work for separate boxes.
Picture 31
Being in the "layers", copy all layers (To copy all layers at the same time we press the "Shift and control" and Clicking on the first layer and continue holding down shift and control and Clicking on the last layer)
Note: You can also work on separate layers.
Picture 32
Then we went to the "move tool" and pictures to our taste all the boxes of pictures, if we want to reduce or increase (must be selected all the pictures of both windows, "Animation and Layers", remember).
"Display table transformation" must be with the respective "Check", but we can not move nor to reduce the pictures.
Picture 33
With the "Move Tool", proceed to reconcile our paintings.
Picture 34
This is usually a little heavy, remember to be patient
Once ready our table, we proceed to export your file.
Let the option:
File-> Export-> animation frames as files
Picture 35
On next window will name to our work and its details.
Picture 36
By clicking on the "Define" button and put the same options as shown in the picture.
In the name I am putting an underscore and three zeros, because the program will increase 2 more.
Note:
In all the pictures must be 5 numbers to run (If you have more the Android system will not recognize it), can have any name, but always 5 numbers, remember. Passing the box 100 the program will increase by more digits, ie, do not look like this: "boot_00100" (So it should be) but rather well, "boot_000100," and has 6 numbers and not work well (This example has 461 frames).
What I do is create 2 folders (call them A and folder B folder) in folder A, I keep the tables up the next name: "boot_000" (The name change is done by pressing the "Set") the word boot bearing 3 zeros.
Picture 37
In folder B, I keep the pictures under the name "boot_00," the word boot accompanied by 2 numbers.
Picture 38
Finally I create a folder C and copy the contents of folder A (up to the table "boot_00099"), also copied the contents of the folder B (but from the table "boot_00100 up") and hit in the C .
Having done the above steps, we now proceed to save the picture boxes. In the "Choose" button, choose the folder where you save your work (remember the above steps, as the 2 folders)
Picture 39
And to finish with the steps guradado of picture boxes.
We see that under the window are the options format. Here we choose the PNG24 format (Must be PNG, but the Android system does not recognize pictures with other formats)
Picture 40
And we ok and wait.
Then proceed to copy the pictures folder A and B in the C and above.
Here ends the editing step and move on to step "Compression".
Now go to the folder contents C (where are our pictures copied).
Then create 2 more folders, create with following the names (can name you want, but here I explain in this example)
part0
part1
In the folder "part0", copy the tables "boot_00001" to "boot_00460."
In the folder "part1", copy the last frame that is "boot_00461"
.
Additionally we will create a text file (yes, just a simple file with a. Txt) with the name "desc" and add up the next text:
320 240 10
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
Note:
The first line indicates the size (320x240) and the value 10 indicates the FPS (Frames Per Second, the rate of exchange of images)
The second line:
p = defines a portion of the animation (Leave it)
1 = Indicates the number of times to repeat the animation (in this case only once)
0 = This zero indicates a pause (also leave it)
part0 = The folder name (in our case we put the folder "part0")
The second line:
p = defines a portion of the animation (Leave it)
0 = Indicates the number of times to repeat the animation (value of zero means that will be repeated several times until you load the system)
0 = the zero indicates a pause (as in this last folder image sequence ends, we'll leave it)
part1 = The name of the folder.
Finally compress these 3 files, personally I use "winrar" so we teach them how to do this program.
First select the 3 files together (par0 folders, part1 and description) and give a left-click and choose the option:
"Add to archive ..."
Picture 41
The table comes, we will place the file named "bootanimation."
In the "File Format", choose ZIP (Because the. Rar is not detected by the system)
And finally, where it says "Compression Method", choose "No compression".
And we accept.
Picture 42
The file created we will post it to SD and then the "Root Explorer" will be spent on the route:
"/ Data / local"
I hope this post will be helpful.
Remember to share your bootanimation to see how they have left.
And excuse my bad English again.
But I wanted to contribute to this great forum.
And if you know some Spanish and do not understand this post.

No Manila file support as of now. This is more of a general purpose, all-device, fast loading text editor. I presume adding very much device/task specific functions will be pointless.
Saying that, I am presently working on a Notepad specifically designed for Diamond. Will think of such features in that project.
question...
Cab it up, possibly? Much thanks!
a BETA release for you

I am attaching a BETA release of the 1.3 version of this software. Kindly test it and check whether it suits your "open-with" needs.
In general, it should work easily with the explorer you are using. In case it does not, try to use the under-mentioned open-with command.
The "open with" command should be: "/Program Path/Notepad.exe" "%1"
Where 'Program Path' is the path of the program and '%1' is the file name. Make sure they are within "double-quotes".
Love it. Works great on my tilt. Thanks.
Very nice and light txt editor!
Any plans to support .DOC and .DOCX? Even just as read only without formatting and ability to save as .TXT.
I have some settings and serials in Word docs that would be good just to copy out of without having to install Pocket Word
It's great to see people working on new editors!
Some things that would really make this program stand out...
The ability to associate files and open with a double click.
The ability to open files via 'Send to' in GSFinder+.
Multiple files opened in tabs with the ability to open new ones (while retaining the old ones, tabbed) with double click or 'Send To' or 'Open With'.
Search and Replace.
Choose Unicode or ANSI formatting for save.
If you implemented these few things, and kept it small, this could be the BEST compact editor for WM (IMHO).
UKNote almost does everything except 'Multiple tabbed docs', and 'Send To' which is the BEST way to open documents for editing in an editor that the MIME type isn't associated with. 'Open With' is just too slow.
The easier it is, and the more options you have to open a file in an editor, the better. Opening a file from my favorite file manager is my preferred method (double click, or 'send to').
Thanks for the Editor!
Can this be used to edit xml files directly on the ppc? Or even create mscr files for mortscript?
Can be used to open any text file

Thank you for your compliments. You are most welcome!
What features I inferred from your post and also I had been considering earlier:
Associate with .txt files so that any explorer can open it.
Open multiple text files in tabs.
Search and Replace.
Magnify/Zoom (already done in upcoming 1.2 release)
Font Type Change (Normal or Fixed-width, already done in upcoming 1.3 release)
The ability to open files via 'Send to' in GSFinder+.
Click to collapse
I think this may already work! Try and let me know please.

I will try to implement these and also keep the weight/load-time/memory usage less.
Yes! 'Send to' DOES work (hurray!). It didn't yesterday, I must've needed a soft reset.
As far as association is concerned, we should be able to associate any file, not just TXT. Let the User worry about associations, but just fix it so that if a filetype IS associated, it opens with a double click. Right now when I associate a filetype, and try to open it with a double click, I get an Error:
'The specified file cannot be opened. Path or format incorrect.'
I click 'OK' then the editor opens with no file.
Thanks Again!
P.S.

You might want consider the ability to save as ANSI or UNICODE because many of the text files used by WM are UNICODE.
I work with lots of text files at once sometimes, so it would be nice to be able to load multiple copies of the EXE at once (or to use a tabbed interface).

Yes. I know why the error is there. This is not an error. You are providing the filename as command-line parameter. But your file name contains spaces, hence it should be enclosed within quotes.
E.g. /Internal Storage/my file.txt should be opened as Notepad.exe "/Internal Storage/my file.txt" and see it will work!
I can do a workaround fix, but that would make it non-standard. I will tell you why...
All command-line parameters are separated by spaces.
e.g. Notepad.exe param1 param2
Now, all programs use the first parameter as file name. But, when your filename contains spaces, it is split into two or more parameters. And that causes the error. Hence, to open your file, your parameter should appear within double quotes.
So, for opening a file, say, /My File.txt, your command will be.
"/Notepad.exe" "/My File.txt" (assuming that both files are in root folder)
PS: Please don't mind if I went in so much details. But I explained for people who would not know anything.
However, If you suggest that I should "merge" multiple parameters and check whether it is a valid filename or not, then I can do it. But as I said, that would be non-standard. I have attached a file with this change done.
Awesome! I love it! Now I can open a file using any method I desire. This is HUGE!
I don't think your 'nonstandard' workaround will be a problem because, after all, what parameter would you send to an editor other than a single filename?
Is there a filesize limitation? I opened a 92k file and was only able to scroll down about 1/3 of the document before it wouldn't scroll anymore. The ability to edit large files would be another feature I would request.
Another thing you might consider is coming up with an original name for your editor. It is shaping up to be such a good editor that it deserves something other than the generic 'notepad'.
Thanks for your hard work, it is very appreciated by us editor lovers out here in WM land. I am anxiously awaiting updates!

Guess what drives the world of software??? It is people as good as you. I am not flattering, but its rather a huge fact that the trouble you took to use and comment on the software more than motivates me (or anyone else for that matter) to develop even better softwares.
Rather I should say "Thank You" for your time and effort to appreciate someone.
Back to work:
Yes, there is a kind of file-size limitation. But I am yet to find out the exact value. It tends too vary between devices .
Nevertheless, it is a limitation/bug of DOTNET CF 2.0 . DOTNET CF 3.5 too has this problem (of displaying 1/3rd of the available text space,) but at a reduced level. [Doing any workaround these bugs/limitations might increase file size / memory consumption / load time.]
Next on line: I am thinking about implementing (1) Find and Replace, (2) Tabbed Documents, (3) Remember last used program settings.
After these are done, the Notepad will become somewhat finalized and would have almost all features that can be pushed inside a small and fast-loading app.
Last and the Best... I want to make it "skinnable", so that I can make it look like Diamond, etc (or any user can make their skins.)
... however... my PRIMARY GOAL still remains : FAST, BUG-FREE, SMALL/LIGHT, ALL-PURPOSE Text editor!
The filesize limitation really isn't that big of a deal. Most compact editors on WM have some sort of filesize limitation. I do most of my editing of big files on my PC.
Next on line: I am thinking about implementing (1) Find and Replace, (2) Tabbed Documents, (3) Remember last used program settings.

Im currently working on a flash application that displays the Manila 3D weather animations.
The first idea was to have that on M2D, but it prooved impossible: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471461
To use this EXE you'll need Flash 7 (lite 3 FINAL will work too, but you'll need to install flash 7 first) and a internet connection (PC sync or GPRS/3G).
The download is quite large (17mb) because of the animations, so I wasnt able to post it here, you have the download from the link below.
In future updates you'll only need to update the main EXE or the data files, so they will be less than 1mb and so, posted here.
I'd like to thank Rumball for giving me permission to use his animations and The_hesham for pushing this idea.
I still need to find a tool to force the internet connection, if there isnt one active already, and obviously add this as a option on the settings.
One thing that always made me some confusion in M2D, and I think it would be nice to implement, if you last updated the weather the day before or two days ago, it should show the actual current day result and simply remove the last days that doesnt know the variables of.
Mini-FAQ:
-----------
Got a wider screen and two white stripes appear?
Unfortunatly the tool I use to make the EXE files only allows qvga and vga screen sizes... If you know another SWF>EXE tool that fixes this, let me know.
Got different slightly results in M2D and this app?
The m2d conversion from Farenheight to celsius is slightly incorrect... Only the farenheight measure is recorded on the registry, so if you choose celsius, m2d makes this conversion: (farenheight - 32) / 1.8 = celsius
But if the result is, for example, between 12.1 or 12.9 the value shown is always 12º. My conversion rounds up anything above 0.5 to +1.0. I think thats the way it should be. And thats why you get different results in M2D and this app.
The animation is really slow...
Its basicly 20-40 PNG files inside each flash swf file, thats why its so heavy (16mb), if it was all vectorial, like the TEMPUS plugin, it would only be less than 1mb, the png sequence is also slow on the display, depends on you free RAM and video driver.
It was made for 400mhz or better machines, flash is still slow in the current CPUs, maybe in the future... :/
Its not really working for me.
Check all items in the TO USE list. The first non-official release of Flash lite 3 is buggy and wont work! The final will.
Can I translate it in my language?
Sure, the DATA.TXT is already (mostly) translated in Portuguese, Romanian and Italian here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471461
You have some more instruction on the end of this post.
Can I make other icon animations or wallpapers?
Sure, create a theme, its a background wallpaper and animated icons. The instructions are in the end of this post.
Can I use this as a today plugin?
Not yet, when its finished I'll release the sourcode and (with the help of APBilbo) make a THROTTLE LAUNCHER version.
Got a error on the results...
The update sometimes fails, just reload/re-update or cancel/re-open things, sorry about that...
I cant see the icons...
Roms in other languages have different names for the SD card and Program files. Check if the path on the settings is the same as yours. Change it accordingly.
I cant see any words...
This is a reaaaaally smart bug from me... I didnt antecipated that ppl with the above problem couldnt read the text to change the text varibles path. :/
You can either press the bottom-right grey button and then the one that appears directly on top of that one... that opens the settings area. Now change the path on the top text area and press the OK button.
Or.. thru the registry, with Resco explorer or any other registry tool here: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\W3D\Settings\PATH
I cant see anything!
Either your Pocket pc is on stand-by, in that case simply press the power button. Or your eyes are closed, in wich case you cant really read my advice to open them...
My City is not on the list.
- Go to: http://www.accuweather.com/includes/ajax-functions/favoriteCities.asp?region=EUR&country=UK
Change the end of the link to your country, PT=Portugal, UK=United Kingdom, ES=Spain, etc...
- ...OR, just click in http://www.accuweather.com/world-index.asp?partner=accuweather&traveler=0 , then write down you "city, country", press GO and it shows your code in the middle of the ADDRESS BAR link.
- Now send me the code (post here or send me by email).
- Add it manually to your cities with the help of the mighty flash keyboard.
Whats new:
-------------
- Fixed the non-WWE bug to see the settings button.
- Added "last updated on" info.
- Added (semi-)Smart* day Weather (tells what day TODAY is)
- Fixed minor coding bugs
- Added some more cities to the online database.
Replace the attached file on the first post to update.
To use:
--------
- Install Flash 7 (if you dont have it already): http://www.adobe.com/products/flashplayer_pocketpc/downloads/player.html
- Download the 17mb zip below.
- Extract and place all the files inside on your /Storage Card/Program Files/W3D and create a shortcut for the EXE (with resco explorer or something). This path can be changed in the settings menu.
- Update the latest files attached here.
- If the 6th image on this post appears on you, its the online update that went wrong, just press UPDATE NOW (make sure you have an existing internet connection already running).
To do:
--------
- Create a update error loop, if the online values arent correctly received.
- Create internet connection + new setting to disable this.
- Convert fscommands to trottle launcher version and release the source-code.
Creating Themes:
--------------------
- Icons must be individual swf files, exported as flash 7, must have the same name as the ones on the "current_theme" folder, 240x200 px size and (this is important) have in the last frame the LABEL parado with the CODE stop();. The icon theme's name is the name of the folder. I added a animation example attached to this post.
- Wallpapers are jpg's in 240x295 px saved in standart enconding, progressive enconding will not appear on flash, this is a old flash bug. They must be on the same folder as the icons.
If you have a VGA or any other sized screen, you can change the JPG size to whatever fits you best.
- The language file data.txt can be renamed to data_sp.txt (as spanish, for example) or any other name you'd like, just remenber to change it on the settings too. I added the Portuguese language as an example also.
Note that the first variable doesnt have the & character and that they all finish with &END, this is normal.
If you have a special character that doesnt appear, tell me what it is, so that I can embebbed it into the app.

Hi, twolf !
Move to this topic then.
Thanks for Great job !!
One question, how can I get it works on WQVGA (omnia)? (It actually works, but not full screen. It has white background at the top and bottom of the screen)
Thanks.
Unfortunately the tool I use to make the EXE files only allow qvga and vga screen sizes...

W3D Second Edition
Im currently working on a flash application that displays the Manila 3D weather animations.
The first idea was to have that on M2D, but it prooved impossible: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=471461
To use this EXE you'll need Flash 7 (lite 3 wont work) and a internet connection (PC sync or GPRS/3G).
One thing I noticed, the M2D conversion from Farenheight to celsius is slightly incorrect...
And thats why you get different between M2D and this app.
There's currently no "Choose city" interface like in M2D, so you will need yo know your city code, see it here:
- Go to: http://www.accuweather.com/includes/...EUR&country=UK
- Change the end of the link to your country (US users only need a 5-digit area code), PT=Portugal etc...
...I'll try to find a way to get that info from the m2d cities xml, but no promisses.
To use:
--------
Install Flash 7 (if you dont have it already).
Place it all on your /Storage Card/Program Files/W3D and create a shortcut for the EXE (with resco explorer or something). This path can be changed in the settings menu. You can also change the language by translation the DATA.TXT file.
If the 6th image on this post appears on you, its the update that went wrong, just press UPDATE NOW.
To do:
--------
- City chooser (no need for the keyboard).
- I couldnt find the settings for the "high temperature" and "low temperature" for the current day. But I think its really not needed.
- The "last updated on" text doesnt make the timed account, it just tells at what time was updated. Not sure if I'll leave this as it is, since it will be -a lot- of work for a little detail
- Smart today weather (shows the correct daily weather, no matter how long on the week you last updated).
- Fix the icon package (the renamed 8 files).
- Create internet connection + new setting to disable this.
- Create a update error loop, if the online values arent correcly received.

Sorry, I had some problems with my phone and now the usb port is dead...
I'll send you the new exe in a couple of hours.
This project is on hold at the moment, as my Nike just died.
I cant test whatever I change, so if anyone wants the FLA source-code, Ill post it on the first post.
Sorry...
Hi,
very nice app !!!! but it doesn't work for my htc cruise/polaris. In attach the screens with the log:
1. it diplays in all fields: "undefined"
2. the right/left keys aren't displaied.
I've done:
1. install flash 7 for ppc
2.unzip the app.
3. create the dir W3D in 'SD/program files/...'
4. copy in 'SD/program files/W3D' the unzipped files
5. create a ".lnk" in windows/start menu/programs to the exe of the app
6. active an internet connection
7. lunch the app
8. try to connect to internet but without success !!!
9. the result is in attach.
thx for the help.....
This appears to be a simple path error, see what is the name of your storage card on the file explorer, that should be it.
Notice that the time variables are there, but he cant find the icons or text data file.
Yes...i've changed the name, in the path, of my sd...(as you can see in the picture) but there is always the problem......

Olá twolf.
Esta app que desenvolveste apenas se destina a HTCs ou pode ser usada noutros PDAs?
Hi twolf.
This app you've developed is for HTCs only, or it can be used on other PDAs?

I did saw it, but I dont know if its well written...
There could be missing a character or have a special character with an accent like á ò ú...
Or "program files" could be "programmes" or something like that.
Could you send a printscreen of the full path in the file explorer app?
Or try to place the datafile in the root's memory so it would just be like: \data.txt
and them make the full path on the settings be just \
This way the icons still wont appear, but the names will.
And you could see that it must be a path error somehow.

Any Windows Mobile pds with Flash 7 and internet access, havent tested it on WM2003...
Great, does it supports Chinese Language now?
Hmmm... Not yet, sorry.
Its just a matter of adding a chinese font swap to the text areas.
I'll have to do that last, since the export will be muuuuuch slower after.
But at the moment all my projects are stopped, as explained on my sig.
Hi again twolf.
I've installed the app but i'm not seing any icons, wallpaper, and text in the butttons...
I can add cities and see the temps.
No data.txt is generated.
PS: Sorry... Theres a data.txt in W3D_SE folder...
It's Storage Card\Program Files\W3D\W3D_SE
Its not generated automaticly, you have to copy the files manually to the folder you created.
By default it should be in Storage card\Program files\W3D but you can put them wherever you want, just edit that in the settings area.
You can place the EXE there too, but thats not mandatory.
---edit---
I see now that my directions were misleading, I changed that from the first post, sorry.
It's working!
Thanks... The problem was that i was extracting the W3D_SE folder in W3D when i should extract only the content.
By the way, it's great!
I uploaded a new zip, with clearer instructions.
This is the print screen....thx for your help...

Yes, your path is correct.
JonasSavimbi made me notice something I mislead ppl with the older zip, your W3D folder should have the data.txt, wall.jpg and icons folder inside. Not another W3d_SE folder.
Sorry about that.

I have done some extensive modding of the MortScript from SASHIMI (by bengilah @ www.winmo-experts.com) and XDA_UC (by Noonski here @XDA) and have come up with a couple additions meant mainly for Energy's custom XDA_UC as it lacks some of the features that Noonski's version does, well now you can have ALL THAT & MORE!
What does S4X_AutoLauncher.mscr do?
01. it loads the S4X_Auto Script (S4X_Auto_*version*.mscr) with an updated version of MortScript.exe (4.3b15) and waits for it to finish (this way you don't have to install new version of mortscript for the mod to work!).
S4X_Auto script does the following, in the following order:
01. shuts down sense, kills manila.exe and any processes found in the "autoKillApps" section of the autoSettings.ini.
02. deletes AppData folder from device, if instructed by autoSettings.ini to do so.
03. installs CERT files found in XDA_UC_\_Mod_\filesCERT (+ subfolders)
04. provisions any XML files that have "email" or "wifi" in the name of the file.
05. silently sets windows them from the autoSettings.ini, place the filename.tsk(only - spaces are OK, but NO path) of the theme in the INI like this:
Code:
[AutoSettings]
theme=filename.tsk
if it is a theme that is not present on the rom you can place the file in the folder XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesTSK, and it will get copied to windows before being set as the default theme. if no theme is set in the autoSettings.ini, then any TSK files present in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesTSK will be copied to windows, then a dynamic menu with all available themes will be shown, and you can choose one, if none is chosen (10sec timeout), then the default cooked theme will be left as the default.
06. installs CABs, located in root of XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB, silently to device
07. installs CABs, located in root of XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB or any subfolder thereof (EXCEPT FOR \netCF, \Dialer, \SDAuto or \SKIP), silently to device.
08. if a SASHIMI ".auto" file is present, it will install the cab semi-silently (no user interaction required), to device or storage card (see XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin\INI\sample-file.auto for example)
09. install a custom dialer if there are CABs present in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB\Dialer (+ subfolders), shuts down the proper processes first and if that isn't possible it will skip installation so that there are no errors.
10. installs netCF CABs silently to device if present in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB\netCF (+ subfolders) (uses THIS method. )
11. looks for CABs in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB\SDAuto(+ subfolders), installs them silently to your SD. The cabs don't HAVE to be UC compatible, but you will have to do some manual things if they aren't UC compatible... NOTE: not all CABs work with this method, if they don't work, please place them in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB\Manual, for full user interaction when necessary. This is no longer a separate script, I have integrated it. credit to bengilah @ winmo-experts.com
12. SKIPS all CABs located in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCAB\SKIP (+ subfolders)
13. installs *.XDA, *.XDAI, *.XDAS & *.XDAZ files found in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesXDA (subfolders as well)
14. imports all reg files found in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesREG (+ subfolders)
15. provisions XML files found in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesXML (+ subfolders)
16. executes EXE files found in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesEXE (+ subfolders), if a parameter(s) is found in exeparams.ini, then it is run with those parameters
17. looks for *.wgt/*.widget files in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesWGT, and installs them with wmwidgetInstaller.exe (if present in ROM) automatically (not silent, but usually no user input is required).
18. looks for folders under folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesSense\****, and copies the content of each folder to \Windows, this is useful for keeping your fixes/mods seperated so that when a new rom comes out that includes the fix/mod you can just delete that folder and it won't be copied to device anymore during XDA_UC setup =)
19. copies all files/folders from folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesRoot, to the root of the device IE: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesRoot\My Documents gets copied to \My Documents...etc...
20. if present, executes deleteOps.ini and deletes files and/or folders, see the XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin\INI folder for sample .ini's
21. if present *.pib file in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesPIM, starts PIMBackup and waits until user is finished importing settings, then...
22. looks for PIM.VOL in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesPIM, renames current, copies backup, then places a self actuating and deleting script in \Windows\Startup that will delete the old renamed PIM.VOL file at the next boot.
23. runs any MSCR (MortScripts) found in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesMSCR (+ subfolders), if parameters exist in scriptparams.ini, then it runs the script with the given parameters.
24. imports CHT settings file, if present in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCHT
25. finally, I have added logging (no matter whether script is ran manually or automatically by XDA_UC) and on-screen notifications (only during initial XDA_UC setup), the log file can be found in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin\LOG\S4X_Auto_ver#_LOG.txt
XX. For ALL CAB & Widget file installs, looks for an entry in customlinks.ini, if present moves the link to the specified directory in the start menu after installation is complete

What does S4X_SDAutoLauncher.mscr do?
01. It loads the sdauto script with an updated version of MortScript.exe (4.3b15) and waits for it to finish (this way you don't have to install new version of mortscript for it to work!).
S4X_SDAuto_1.0.mscr script does the following, in the following order:
01. files are installed alphanumerically: 0, 1, a, A
02. supports SASHIMI ".auto" files, to automate installation of non UC compliant CABs (ie: pop up messages/windows during installation)
03. it writes a log to XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin\LOG\S4X_SDAuto_1.0_LOG.txt

What does S4X_Backup do?
I DID NOT WRITE (MOST OF) THIS CODE, I ONLY MODDED IT TO MAKE IT WORK THE WAY I WANTED/NEEDED IT TO!!!!
01. * Full minus file > customRegXport, PIMBackup & CHTBackup
02. * FullBackupXport > Filebackup.ini, Regexport.ini, PIMBackup & CHTBackup
03. * CustomRegXport > run regexport.ini ONLY
04. * PIMBackup > Backs up PIM data with PIMBackup, if a file already exists in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesPIM folder, it copies the file(s) to folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\_Manual\filesPIM
05. * CHTBackup > Backs up Co0kie Home Tab data and saves it as "chtsettings.cht" in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesCHT
06. * filebackup > runs filebackup.ini ONLY
07. * Full Export > full registry exported saved in folder: XDA_UC\_Mod_\_Manual\filesREG
08. * View Regexport.ini > Shows you the contents of regexport.ini
09. * View Filebackup.ini > Shows you the contents of filebackup.ini
10. * _ E X I T _ * > self explanatory ;-)
11. when doing a REG export I added a check of fileSkipOverOrArchive in autoSettings.ini (found in XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin\INI), 0 = ARCHIVE, 1 = OVERWRITE, 2 = SKIP), if set to ARCHIVE a subfolder is created in XDA_UC\_Mod_\_Manual\filesREG and the files present in XDA_UC\_Mod_\filesREG are moved there before export starts. this way you have a backup of previous reg settings.

In an attempt to keep THIS post clean, I am not going to post the code from these two scripts. I will attach my XDA_UC_Mod [latest], which contains both of these scripts which you can extract from the zip and look at all you want.
I am going to post the contents of my filebackup.ini and regexport.ini's for reference, for you non-SASHIMI converts or SASHIMI users who never took the time to learn that wonderful part of SASHIMI. See posts #2 (autoSettings.ini) and #3 (filebackup.ini, regexport.ini, example ini's) for that info...
Future Plans:
1. a way to automate PIMBackup restore w/an .ini
2. completely modularize the mod and allow an .ini to set/determine what actions are performed, hopefully to make process slightly quicker as only script code needed will be loaded/executed
03. regKeyDelete.ini - to automatically delete some keys from registry [ie: bootloader and init entries...etc...] will be written much like the regexport.ini from sashimi
Instructions
If you only want functionality to install cabs to SDCard silently, then just download the S4X_SDAuto_Mod and extract the zip to the ROOT of XDA_UC folder, otherwise if you want the full mod download the S4X_Auto_plus_Backup_Mod and extract it to the ROOT of XDA_UC folder, there is no need for both as the S4X_SDAuto_Mod is included in the full mod.
1. choose file and unzip to ROOT of XDA_UC folder
2. if running EITHER mod manually, run the .mscr file in root of XDA_UC or .exe in the _bin folder, do NOT run the .mscr file in the XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin folder unless you have a 4.3b11+ version of MortScript already installed on your system
3. to use S4X_Backup run S4X_Backup.exe in the XDA_UC\_Mod_\_bin folder of XDA_UC or from the start menu > tools > S4X_Backup (only present if you've used xda_uc setup with my mod)

NOW SUPPORTS (as of version 1.1) 6Fg8's customRegExport Mod, see below for explanation and HEED THE WARNING!!!
6Fg8 said:
The mod allows additional parameters in REGEXPORT.INI:
Code:
[COLOR=Blue]key1=<yourkeypath1>
key2=<yourkeypath2>,<value1>,<value2>,<value3>, ... ,<valueN>
key3=<yourkeypath3>,*[/COLOR]
key1 is the traditional way of exporting registry keys as its already implemented. It exports this key including all values/subkeys.
key2 specifies a key, plus the value names you want to export (value1-valueN). Value names are CASE SENSITIVE (!), if they dont match you end up with an empty key.
key3 specifies a key, plus ALL values, but WITHOUT subkeys.
WARNING: DO NOT mix filtered (like in key2, key3 examples) and unfiltered keys (key1) in the same section, as this will lead to missing values. If you need to do this, split them into separate sections.
examples from my own usage:
Code:

thanks, just trying to be a contributing member, even if "my" stuff isn't exactly 100% original... MortScript is getting easier by the minute for me, coming from self taught php background a lot of it is similar or the same even... I'm sure there's some languages that php resembles... but I'm not really a programmer of any sort, just an accomplished "tinkerer" heh...
I posted this in the Energy thread - it was suggested I ask here... any help would be great. Thanks.
Hi -
Can you give me a step by step on the order in which you do stuff after flashing (when to reinsert the sim card, when to run PIM Backup, etc.)? I basically stole your entire XDA_UC (thank you btw!) just adding a couple files and reg settings for some applications and a few things don't seem to work for me (i.e., my favorite people never come back in the right order or even the right people, my hotmail gets screwed up, etc.). I just can never seem to get any of the backups to work exactly right and I've tried SASHIMI, NRG's Export/Importer, and XDA_UC. I just think I'm doing something at the wrong time and things are stepping on each other or something. Anyway, thanks for the help!
PS I'm installing the latest 23xxx CHT rom via SD card ...

lol... no, not my car = crap. my dad's car... lol... my car, Lexus IS300 = wrecked (not the one in sig) into the back of my best friends truck, back in July, was looking (rubbernecking) at flipped car on other side of road, road was wet, person in front of my friend slammed on their brakes to turn left (while I was looking at flipped car) I slid into back of my friends Nissan Titan (I now call them wreckalexuses) LOL I will get another one soon enough, I just got screwed by my insurance company AND GAP coverage and ended up having to pay out because they decided to total it... only thing holding me back at the moment is a 9-5er (or 11-7, hell I'd take anything right now... lol) so no worries...
Look at me! I'm cluttering my own thread!!! heheeee
here is a quick question:
I want to copy a folder and his content from storage card to My Documents\My Pictures.
so from : Storage Card\XDA_UC\Files\ ( ProGloss_60%) this is the folder to be copied )
to : \\\My Documents\My Pictures
how can I do that ?

Sorry about the car trouble... no worries, I don't consider less than 24 hours a slow response to a message board anyway. You regular posters on this free community board are more responsive than my help desk at work!
Anyway, your post explains very clearly what you do up to flashing the rom. My question is more about the order to do things AFTER you flash. For example, I flashed the latest yesterday and it says "update complete". What is the order I should do things at that point? When to replace the sim, when to hard reset, when to run PIM backup, do I need to manually disable anything that's running, etc.?
Thanks for your help!

if that's all you want copied then just place it in XDA_UC\Root\My Documents\My Pictures
then use this part of my copy2root script, put it in a txt file and rename the txt to .mscr and place in the XDA_UC folder :
Code:
XCopy( "\Storage Card\XDA_UC\Root\*.*", "", TRUE, TRUE )
if you're already using my mod then just place place them in the folder as I first stated and they will be copied during the setup...

O.K... gotcha...
after update:
1. at "update complete" put mSD in
2. put battery back in
3. reboot
4. wait for xda_uc message to pop-up, hit "YES" to start
5. after setup is complete (wait for the second message saying customization is complete, I click NO here)
6. this is where I run TouchProTweak to setup a couple things I haven't figure out how to do via reg settings.
7. remove back cover and slide SIM in over battery (if you don't want to do it this way then slide2shutdown, remove battery and insert SIM)
8. restart
9. wait for connection setup, do setup
10. here is where I enter into manila my facebook, twitter and youtube passwords and link facebook accounts from the all people > updates tab
11. start enjoying your freshly setup rom!
I don't hard reset, because of task29... so far (2wks) I haven't noticed any issues due to not hard resetting after first screen calibration.
as for people tab not being in right order... I don't know if anyone has figured out a fix for that... I don't really use it other than to have those particular people in it, so it doesn't really bother me if it comes back in correct order or not...
thanks will try it .
thanks it worked .
Boy, I hope this isn't a dumb question... I've searched without any luck, but I can't imagine no one has tried this yet: Is there a way to export ActiveSync settings for XDA_UC? I couldn't find anything like that in the Settings Exporter.

Boot Animations:Tutorial & A Place To Post Your Own. UPDATED 04/10/2011 NEW ANIMATION

Boot Animations:Tutorial & A Place To Post Your Own. UPDATED 04/10/2011 NEW ANIMATION
How To Create Your Own Boot Animations
Here is a flashable zip from sparksco that will install any bootanimation placed on the root of the sdcard
Download Here
Just place the bootanimation on the root of the sd, then flash this from recovery.
Created Boot Animations Are At The End Of This Post
There are five steps in creating a boot animation:
1. Creating the images;
2. Creating the desc.txt file;
3. Creating the bootanimation.zip file;
4. Pushing the boot animation to the phone;
5. (Optional) Adding a boot audio file.
Click to collapse
1. Creating The Images.
If you have even seen a flip book (flip the pages fast enough, and a succession of images appears to become animated), then you understand the basics of a boot animation. This is nothing more than a flip book for the digital age, and so all that is required is a collection of images, that when viewed very quickly in succession, appear to be animated (of course with most filming being done digitally these days, one could argue that this is all movies).
Creating these images will take days if you choose to create each one individually, so here is the trick to make this worth doing. Either create a flash animation, or find one you enjoy (you tube is a good place to look for flash animations, and if you do a quick google search you can see how to download youtube videos).
Once you have the flash animation you like, use video editing software to convert it into a series of JPEG or PNG images. I suggest using Avidemux ( http://fixounet.free.fr/avidemux/ ), which is a free, cross-platform, open-source video editor.
This will chop it up to many files. Since you do not want too large of a bootanimation.zip, I suggest the removal of intermittent files (such as every 5th file) to end up with 50-150 images.
Now on to the editing, for which I suggest using GIMP ( http://www.gimp.org/ ), which is a free, open-source, cross-platform graphics editor (similar to photoshop). To ensure that the images appear as you would like when turned into an animation, you can resize each image to 480 x 800 (or place each image on a background of these dimensions). The nice thing about GIMP is that it works with terminal commands, so it is possible to resize the entire folder of images with one line of code in the terminal. It should be noted that this step is optional, as the desc.txt file will allow you to choose the proper rendering size. While in GIMP you can do any graphical edits you like to the images, but be sure to make these as small as possible to ensure a smooth running boot animation.
I will say no more about graphics editing, as there are plenty of online tutorials for this.
Be sure to save each image as a JPEG or PNG, and rename each in succession. Thus the first image will be named something like
Code:
image_001.png
, the second
Code:
image_002.png
and so on (look in any boot animation if this is unclear).
The last thing to note on these images, is that you can choose to have an initial animation run, then at some point have the image start looping. Consider for example the Cyanogen boot animation which comes at you, bounces, then starts with the spinning blue flames. If you desire to have it loop at some point in the animation, this will be taken care of with the desc.txt file, just keep this in mind while creating the images.
Click to collapse
2. Creating The desc.txt File
The purpose of the desc.txt file is to (i) define the dimensions for which the image should be rendered, define the speed at which images are changed, and define the looping (if any).
The desc.txt file for the stock shift boot animation looks like
Code:
480 800 15
p 1 1 android
The 480 800 refers to the image size, this is what you need for the shift.
The 15 refers to the frames per second. Depending on the images you used, this can vary widely for the best look. When I make these, I try many different values and see which looks best.
p refers to "pointer" leave this as is.
The first number after p refers to the number of times to play, thus in this case, it is played once. If you desire it to loop, set the value to 0.
The next number refers to the number of freezes on the last frame (in FPS). Thus, in this case, 1 FPS.
Finally, android refers to the folder in which the images files are contained, and tells the phone to execute an audio file.
Now, if you desire to only have part of the images loop, then you will need more than one folder. Suppose you have 120 images named image_001.png through image_120.png, and it is desired to have all of your images play through once, then restart at image_090.png and loop until boot is complete. You would make two folders, say part0 and part1. In folder part0 you would then place all 120 images and in folder part1 you would place image_90.png through image_120.png. In this case a desc.txt file could look like
Code:
480 800 25
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
Note that there is a blank line left after the last folder. Be sure to include this.
There are a multitude of combinations that will work on the desc.txt file, and it will usually take some trial and error before you have one that is right for your particular animation.
Click to collapse
3. Creating the bootanimation.zip
Though this seems like the simple part, it is where most of the issues occur. This is due to the fact that if the file is zipped with any level of compression, the phone will not be able to read it. IF THE ZIP IS NOT MADE WITH ZERO COMPRESSION, THIS WILL RESULT IN A BLANK SCREEN DURING BOOT
Create a folder named "bootanimation" on your desktop. In this folder place only the folders containing your images and the desc.txt file, AND NOTHING ELSE (in the previous example one would place the folders part0 and part1, along with desc.txt into the folder bootanimation).
If using windows, 7zip will do zero compression zipping. Since I do not use windows, I will leave this up to you to figure out. With Linux, open the terminal and enter
Code:
cd ~/Desktop/bootanimation
zip -0 bootanimation * */*
If all was done correctly, you will now have a working boot animation.

Click to collapse
4. Pushing The Boot Animation To Your Phone.
BEFORE DOING THIS, MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP
This can either be done using adb, or via the phone terminal.
ADB & Linux: Place the bootanimation.zip file on your desktop, then open the computer terminal and enter
Code:
adb push ~/Desktop/bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
ADB & Windows: Place the bootanimation.zip file on your desktop, then open the computer terminal and enter
Code:
adb push C:\Your_User_Name\Desktop\bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
adb reboot
Phone Terminal: Place bootanimation.zip on the root of your sdcard, then in the phone terminal enter
Code:
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 /system
cp /mnt/sdcard/bootanimation.zip /system/customize/resource/bootanimation.zip
Then reboot the phone.
If your boot animation is not working, recheck all of the above steps.
Click to collapse
5. (OPTIONAL) Adding A Boot Audio File
Find a desired audio file in .mp3 format, and rename it to VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3.
To make it executable you will need to edit the desc.txt file to
Code:
480 800 25
p 1 0 android
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
The new line
Code:
p 1 0 android
tells the phone to play the audio file once, with no freeze. You can of course edit the number of times it should play (the first number after p), but should not mess with anything else.
Now you need only to push the file to your phone
This can either be done using adb, or via the phone terminal.
ADB & Linux: Place the VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3 file on your desktop, then open the computer terminal and enter
Code:
adb push ~/Desktop/VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3 /system/customize/resource/VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3
adb reboot
ADB & Windows: Place the VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3 file on your desktop, then open the computer terminal and enter
Code:
adb push C:\Your_User_Name\Desktop\VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3 /system/customize/resource/VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3
adb reboot
Phone Terminal: Place VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3 on the root of your sdcard, then in the phone terminal enter
Code:
mount -o rw,remount -t ext3 /dev/block/mmcblk0p26 /system
cp /mnt/sdcard/VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3 /system/customize/resource/VERSION11SAMELENGTH.mp3
Then reboot the phone.
You now have a custom boot animation with a custom audio file.

I made a simple boot ani the only problem I did was try to use the desc.txt to call a different sound file following the rules that Motorola uses for their phones. Needless to say it still plays the original boot sound from sprint. I put the custom mp3 file in /system/customize/resource and it still plays the default sprint sound when booting. I haven't figured out where the sound file is supposed to go yet, but I haven't looked very hard either.
Here is the simple boot ani I made. The Background is transparent not white. Also note that this update zip will only work with CWM 2.5.X
Here is smaller size boot ani.
7zip commands for Windows 7
These are the commands that I used to make a boot animation using 7zip on a windows platform.
Code:
7za a -mx0 nitro3a.zip part0
7za a -mx0 nitro3a.zip part1
7za a -mx0 nitro3a.zip desc.txt
a = add to zip
-mx0 = Zero compression
nitro3a.zip = If you can't figure this out hmmm.....*Think happy thoughts*the zip file name (at the time the rom I was using you could put as many zip files on your sd card and it would randomly pick one as your boot animation)
part0 = First folder in the sequence
As I said earlier you might be able to zip it all in one command and I just did it the wrong way but I do it this way because I know it works. You might be able to switch up which image folder zips first I don't know I just did it on order because it seemed logical , but I am sure that all the image folders have to be added before you add the "desc.txt" file.

Code:
7za a -mx0 nitro3a.zip part0
7za a -mx0 nitro3a.zip part1
7za a -mx0 nitro3a.zip desc.txt
a = add to zip

Thank you. I have no idea how to things on windows these days. I always appreciate someone filling in the details.
I am going to start moving the posted animations to the OP. If anyone has an issue with this, please let me know.
I've made one successfull animation, using the factory desc file and just changing the file names to match the original.
I have now made a different version that I'm having issues with...
I'm editing the file like you said, but for some reason I get white screen flashes during the animation. One at the very start and another everytime the second part of the animation repeats itself.
Any ideas why this is happening?
currently my desc file looks like this
480 800 15
p 1 0 android
p 1 0 part0
p 0 0 part1
I also tried this one (and some with different FPS values)
480 800 15
p 1 0 android
p 1 1 part0
p 0 1 part1

Search through all of the image files, and make sure the numbering is consecutive, and that there are no missing numbers (such as image0005.png, image0007.png).
No, there weren't any... but I did delete some trying to fix it and that did make it worse.
Any chance it could be something with how the pngs are saved? I didn't use photoshop this time like I did the first time. I used After Effects to save my movie as a png sequence.
EDIT: I figured out the flashes. There are hidden files in the folders that contain pictures. On windows7 they are "ds.store" or something. Pretty much the same as .thumb files that allow you to see thumbnail previews. These must be removed or they will show as white flashes in your animation.

That makes a lot of sense. Damn windows
well I figured out it may not have been windows! I usually do everything on mac, but didn't have an easy way to zip without compression... so I used windows for that part and the ADB part because it is slightly simpler.
I tried a couple different ways and some terminal commands on mac that also ended up zipping the ds_store files, so I guess they are a file that is hidden when you zip stuff that way.
Anyways tonight I figured out that I can just run the command you listed in step (3) and it works just fine without putting the ds_store files in!
So now after editing my images and videos, I wont have to switch to windows to zip and push them anymore!!!
I used root explorer to replace the bootanimation.zip.
Just backed up my original to my sdcard and then overwrited it with a custom one after.
I just wanted to let everyone know that I will not be around much for awhile, so please do not get upset if you think I am ignoring questions. I am working on a huge project at work (I am a researcher at the NIH, working on a major project from the SSA), and have been putting in 60 hour work weeks. People with terminal illness are dependent upon my work, so it comes before my health, my hobbies, and definitely before a phone. When things settle down a bit, I will become more active again. Talk to you all soon.
Work has been too much, and I had to take a break and make myself a new boot animation. Check the OP for this update.
So I tested this out I was able to get a premade boot ani to work but when I make my own it dosent work I think its the zipping part because I took the orignal boot an unzipped and rezipped just to test and it still dosent work is there an app I can DL on my phone or something special I have to do on my windows 7 7-zip program... I made a family guy boot ani will try to load once I get it to work

Try changing the zip compression level from Normal to Store after you've added your files to the archive. I think that's what he meant by a zero compression zip file. :S
EDIT: OP states:
The nice thing about GIMP is that it works with terminal commands, so it is possible to resize the entire folder of images with one line of code in the terminal.
What is the terminal command for windows? Where would I find that? Thanks in advance.
If you open the start menue search cmd it will open then in the 7-zip help section under contents cmd line ver then syntax it explains it but I can get it to work termanal tell me that its not a program or batch file

[Q] Viewpad 7 Wallpapers HowTo

Hi. Love Viewpad 7 & Hate Viewsonic documentation, and howto support. How can I create my own wallpapers? If I try to use a photo via Wallpapers -> Gallery
-> Select my photo, 800x480 but I am forced to crop just a part of my whole photo. The result is my photo gets cropped !!! I am a newbie but extensive Web search did not help anyway. Please help ...
Are you using stock rom or rooted, custom ROM & launcher? Do you have the option to turn off wallpaper scrolling (like mine using ADW instead)?
Also, try compressing/re-sizing your photo wallpaper to 640x480 or even 320x240? On mine, I can crop/shrink or enlarge the size of the wallpaper to fit ....
Thanks Lititride. My VPAD7 is rooted, and my ROM is EUViewpad7V1.4.zip. I am resizing images with some success. I did get angry with forced crop of my images. I did not find any wallpaper scrolling option. Have a good day !
VPad7 Desktop Wallpaper Howto.
We must process source image to be transferred to VPad7. Its geometry must be 576x288, being the upper half part of a 576x576 pattern image. I suggest to create a 576x576 blank pattern image as a template to be reused, and two windows applications: IrfanView and LView or any other you prefer.
VPad7 screen geometry is 800x480; aspect ratio is 1.666, but desktop wallpaper must be widther to provide horizontal scroll, when diferent desktops are shown.
Desktop process (Part 1):
a) We must first choose the image, we want to be our desktop wallpaper. Its aspect ratio must be equal to 2 (1024x512, 800x400, in general 2LxL).
b) After source image is selected, it must be resized to 576x288.
Note: I find IrfanView very appropiate, to perform a) & b) steps.
c) Resultant version of image must pasted as the upper half of Pattern0.jpg image.
Note: I perform this step, opening Pattern0.jpg image with LView application, and copying from IrfanView, step b) image to LView, upper half of pattern opened image.
d) I save full modified Pattern0.jpg image, as a new name one, and transfer it to a folder at SDHC card, into VPad7.
VPad7 process (Part 2):
Now we use VPad7 wallpaper setup, using Gallery option.
1. Touch desktop free area for 3 seconds.
2. Select Wallpaper at menu prompt.
3. Select Gallery at next menu prompt.
4. Select the image formatted at Desktop process (Part 1).
5. Resize crop area to full size, locating it at the top border of image.
6. Select Save.
7. Wait and cheers. Enjoy your new wallpaper !!
Sorry about a possible confusion about my reference to Pattern0.jpg. It is the name I provided, to the blank pattern image, 576x576 geometry, I suggest to create at the beginning of Howto.
Have a wonderfull wallpapers !!
