Because I am currently on 1.5.2 and I can't update to 1.8.3 when I run the systems update. Will this effect me in anyway when I try to update to 2.3.4 OTA?

i was on gingerblur 3.0 and flashed the 1.83 sbf but when flashed the update for gingerblur 3.1 my phone reads 1.7 and android 2.2.1 and im getting the update from att even though i already have it. Does anyone know how to fix this?
Today I used the mod to fix motoburr which was kool but I went to system update and it says important update for 1.8.3 to gb 4.5.47 but wouldn't let me download. Anyone can let me know anything about 4.5.47

First of all, I was running gingerbread then I decided i'd downgrade so I flashed froyo, bricked, then fixed the soft brick. Now im running stock froyo on my bell atrix. I want to upgrade to gingerbread again, if my bootloader is unlocked on gingerbread is it safe to update ota still?
