Launcher 7 (Windows Phone 7 Launcher) - Milestone XT720 Themes and Apps

I just found this launcher and I think it's awesome. Still it's pretty unstable, but you may verywell give it a try. Doesn't cost a lot of RAM actually.

I used it for a while a few months back when it came out. Actually very good with RAM and smooth as well. It just feels wrong having it on my android though. Same reason I don't like parts of MIUI or Fede's new music player.

Is Hero lagging like a G1+hero rom?

I am currently holding to a G1 and i tried drizzy's Hero rom..
well if you compare to cyan's 3.9.2, i would say its unusable.
I am thinking of upgrading to a Hero.. but i am worried that it would be as sluggish a G1 with ported hero rom. Does the (288mb-192) 96mb ram difference makes it smoother?
Can someone with a G1 and actual hero enlighten me please?
big time improvement....had the same problem as you...i didndt think it was quick enough to be useable on g1 so got my hero through this week....amazing to say the least ...no lag what soever. awesome kit with multiple keyboards...including my fav one which is phone keypad.
really relieve to hear that..
not even choking on any part? Is it as good as a g1 with cyna's rom?
my next question is how about a magic+ported hero rom?
since their hardware is pretty much the same. (32A boards)
Much more faster, not as a g1 with f.e. JF mod, but you can really use it, no forcecloses and other things like that.... I love it (have the G1 and the hero since today)
i mean sometimes there maybe a hint of lag but thats only if im surfing the web and playing music and flipping rosie faster than a pancake , but mostly all motion is very smooth and as mentioned no force closes whatsoever
to be honest i think (dont know) that hero is a very ram demanding UI and i dnt think you will get as smoother use with a magic ...thats just my opinion. i mean the widgets on hero do use a lot.....id say its worth getting hero if ya can rather than porting it ......but if you dnt wanna fork out (understandable) than maybe magic can offer you a close resolution! let me know how you get on .
yes it lags but not as much as the g1. It all depends on what and how many widgets your running on your homescreen.
i read on facebook someone with 8gb class 6 card with hero and its speed was greatly improved.
No lags at all on a T-Mobile UK Hero. It runs far smoother than any G1 port. And I tried them all thanks to the amazing work the guys do here.
The only negative thing you can say about the phone is the position of the back button. which is difficult to press if you are right handed..but perfect if you are left handed.
starting to lag a bit on conatcs screen and messages a bit but still nothing that really makes it unenjoyable ...so to speak....i mean i still prefer this over g1 feels much more expensive better build...though have to say g1 was very quick with tasks....

Benefits of 2.1 over 1.5?

Just flashed Herodroid .3
Gotta say, good speed, seems nice. But what is there that 2.1 offers that 1.5 doesn't?
Besides the market, and a few icons here and there, are there any significant changes in 2.1? There is maps as well, correct? edit - excuse me, there is also the pinch to zoom out on the home screen to view all windows (which i find a little pointless, as I barely need 3 home screens to fill what I need. it is almost more hassle to have to use two hands to pinch out and view the screens than it is to just slide to the desired screen. sort of like polishing the worlds most perfect diamond? its fine, and imo was kind of a lame feature to introduce that perhaps they added to compensate for everything else 2.1 could have had in it? maybe im being too harsh, this is also a very long parentheses section.. just my 2 cents)
Maybe I have my panties in a bunch because I came from Mrbang's 1.5 super performance ROM and everything ran smooth as silk. My camera also doesn't make a freaky sound when I take pictures on 1.5 ROMS.
One of my biggest pet peaves right now is how Gameboid runs on 2.1 rom! Its just awful! So laggy!
Is this the roms fault or Gameboid?
I want my pokemon to run smoother than a ****ing GBA!
I just don't think jumping over to 2.1 is worth it for me just yet, I'm getting along just fine with 1.5
Plus, Manup456's theme looks ridiculously good.
First, all 2.1 roms are NOT offical ones, if they have problems I think you can either accept it or go away, instead of complaining about existing ones. It's you who's going to choose your rom, not others.
Your another question, benifits of 2.1. It's quite clear.
Google maps' lastest version and goggle ONLY run on 2.1 and new gmail/contact apps come with it. New Market, new HTC widgets. Compare them with your Gameboid, which one is more important.
Oh, and I'm quite sure many developers are working on 2.1 now, I think Gameboid will soon have a better performance.
(Why not try a psp as universal game machine? it run almost all previous game (including playstation1/Gameboy/FamilyComputer and so on..)according to me. Additionally Games drain your battery quite fast.)
I use the iPod Touch for gaming and music.
It's served me pretty well; games are often MUCH cheaper than the DS/PSP versions yet pack the same amounts of content; battery life is awesome and if I ever need the web on it I can simply wireless tether.
Lpts of BT profiles... file transfer... SPP... yummy...
For me, the biggest advantage of 2.1 is the improved browser. I find it much quicker than the 1.5 browser.
I'm back on 1.5 for now though, until the performance issues in 2.1 are fixed. We run on a very early kernel for 2.1, which isn't fully optimized yet. The official release should include a much faster kernel.

Whoa no way! THEY ARENT OFFICIAL!? I know lol..
2.1 has a few nifty things, but I think I'm going to wait for the official release, then use a ROM based off of that! I'm looking forward to the new kernel as well.
For now, gameboid is more important to me Only because I haven't beat Sapphire yet haha. I have a psp, but the convenience of having my phone all the time though is unbeatable MrBangs ROM I believe is incomparable to any other ROM out right now in terms of speed.

spb shell 3d

Anyone try this yet 15 bucks is steeeep for a launcher, however its not showing up in my market
Works on my vibrant, no go on nook, though it was stated it'd wouldn't work on tablets. Painfully slow start up (even after reboot). Otherwise it's really smooth with a bit of eye candy. That price doesn't justify it though and I still feel as if nothing much changed from bet.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA Premium App
Tryed it on my dell streak, nook no go to, however eye candy was there but wasent as smooth as adw pro so got a refund, def not worth 15 bucks there loss
I tried it while it was beta and was not impressed. Although it looks great I found the UI to be counterintuitive. The only thing I really found neat about SPB 3d is the morphing widgets. Although the 2-state morphing widgets look cool they do not really add any functionality (in fact they kind of defeat the purpose of widgets as they hide important info until you interact/open them).
In my opinion SPB is all eye-candy with no killer features. Even if it was really good I don't think I could justify $15 when there are plenty of great launchers out there for little to no cost.
Love it on my phone - hate it on my Nook.
It does not scale up well at all to the 7'' form factor. Save your $15 and buy ADW EX or LP+ instead.

ok... i'm running MiUi.us Build Number 1.7.22 on my nook color. i took the risk and i paid for the SPB Shell 3D. and i'm very happy to say that it work's great. very few issues, smooth and very responsive. i know there really isn't a fully working tablet operating system out there yet. or at least none that i have came across on yet. but this launcher with the new tablet setting they added make's it feel way more like a tablet and not a clone operating phone system. only thing i would (REALLY) like to see is if someone could put one of these operating system's together (without) all the phone things it brings. other then that i say if you like to give this a try i don't think you would be disappointed.
I agree. I have been using it on my droid x and now for my rooted nook. The new "experimental" tablet view is perfect for the noon. Just saw a notice from the company (spb.com) that there is a UI Builder to allow devs to customize it. Not sure if this is just for WM or android OS as it doesn't clarify. Would allow for some nice widget and skin customization. Any devs out there want to give it a go if so?
Tablet mode does work quite well, but it's not nearly as smooth as launcher pro and all processes combined it needs close to 150 MB of RAM, which even with 512 MB of RAM is quite a lot.

I actually dig it. Works well, although the transitions are just a bit choppy, but not that bad. For a honeycomb looking UI, I'll take it.

[Q]Is this the right tablet for me?

Currently, I have the iPad 2. I do, however, miss android and its customizable aspect. So I was offered by someone to swap my iPad 2 for his Galaxy Tab 10.1
Before swapping, I did went to the nearest Bestbuy to see what the hype was all about. I am pretty disappointed with the browser and the onscreen keyboard. Typing was a pain, and in conjunction with Google's autocomplete feature, it was a nightmare.
By running Quadrant Standard twice, I got scores ranging from 1550-1700. Which was pretty horrid for a dual core processor. I noticed that the fps on each test (2d-3d) range from 15fps-30fps. I have the Samsung Fascinate as my smartphone, and it goes up to 56fps during the graphic tests.
The model that I played around with was not running TouchWiz or maybe it is not updated.
I am mostly concerned on how the device runs after third-party launchers, root, themes, etc. are installed.
Is the interface still sluggish? is the onscreen keyboard still horrid?
I'm currently running stock Touchwiz and yeah it has its glitches, but it's not horrid. I also own the iPad 2 and it has its glitches once in a while too! I like both devices! I could do more on my GTab of course, but I get more smoothness on my iPad 2. They each have pros and cons! Lol
If you don't like the stock keyboard on the GTab you can always change it! I like to use Swiftkey on mine.
Quadrant doesn't get along with stock HC 3.1, so the score is pretty meaningless. On literally every other rom (HC 3.0, TouchWiz etc) normal Quadrant scores should be in the mid 2k's.
The typing lag and wonky cursor that was a problem when typing in web forms has been fixed in the TouchWiz update.
While I've seen some people complain about lag with the launcher, I've never experienced it myself. Regardless, there are optimized launchers available if you flash a deodexed TW rom, and launchers like ADW also work fine on the tablet.
Thanks for the response guys.
I wish I can have both. Since playing around with it from a display model was really pointless since I can't do much about it in regards to flashing rom/updates/etc.
If you were on my shoes, trade or not to trade.
Hey, if you miss customization, then go for the tab, I say. When I used the ipad1 before, staring at those generic iOS homescreen with its sterile grid, indistinguishable icons, horrid folders, lack of widgets was pretty depressing, to me at least.
Yes, you'll run into some glitches. But custom kernels, roms, apps can remedy many of them, while Honeycomb and Touchwiz has already been getting better over time. That GT10.1 seems to have attracted some awesome devs is a plus too.
Yes, you may miss some favorite apps. But most likely there will be similar ones for android, or they will some make there appearance as tablets gain market share. There are yet no ipad-only killer apps that make it too much of a pain to cross over to the tab.
And on top of having your very own customized tab, with docks, apps, widgets individualized and optimized for your own self, imho, the tab even outshines the ipad in terms of
Better for watching or streaming movies (16:9 ratio, play more codex, a gorgeous screen),
Better web-browsing (flash of course, as well as higher pixel count to take in the whole website),
and arguably better e-reading (TW ebook app is quite versatile and easy on the eye, and I enjoy the landscape two-page mode reading which utilizes the widescreen)
as well as better sound (you can get voodoo control with pershoots kernel and bluetooth is amazing)
All which I think are the mainstays of a tablet experience.
Maybe note taking is another, in which the HTC Flyer may be better, but then with swype or thumbkeyboard, or an optional bluetooth keyboard, note taking is at least just as good as the ipad2.
And you won't be sacrificing the sleek form factor (GT10.1 is lighter and thinner, marginally, than ipad2) as you would have to if you went for a different android tab (at least until the Sony S1 comes out, which we'll have to see to be sure).
So, that's my take on why if I was in your shoes, I'd go for the Galaxy Tab 10.1
I should add, to me, whereas the ipad was mainly a portrait mode experience, the Galaxy Tab 10.1 is mainly a landscape mode experience. Should consider and be comfortable of that too - especially in terms of customizing your tablet homescreens. It's one thing that makes it quite different and more exciting than customizing a smartphone.

As with any android vs apple comparison, I think it kind of comes down to how much you like tweaking and customizing, while having to occasionally find workarounds and deal with a still developing ecosystem. If you'd rather not bother with any of that then stick with the iPad.
GTab 10.1 with Honeycomb has a lot of potential. I will probably keep my iPad 2 and snag one off office depot with a 100$ coupon for any tablet.
I've decided to keep the iPad 2 due to the fact that, unfortunately, bought a ton of productivity apps from the app store already. Furthermore, by keeping it and getting GTab 10.1, I can enjoy both worlds. Just need to feed the hungry android inside me.
Love android os. Hope that ice cream sandwich is as tasty as it looks.
Thanks a lot guys for the info. Really helped me decide wether I should get one or not.
I have both. Bought the Galaxy Tab and got the iPad 2 through my school. One thing the iPad has going for itself is that it's a really smooth experience. What it does, it does well. Unfortunately, that's all it does though. There's just nothing else to do with it besides running apps and browsing the internet. If you need something to satisfy your inner geek I would definitely go with the Tab.
From your post I take that you already know all this and are mainly wondering how the Tab holds up performance wise. It's great! I'm running the latest Starburst with pershoots kernel overclocked to 1.4 and the sucker flies. It beats the iPad on almost every webpage rendering test I've put the two to. Google maps is light years ahead of the iPad version and the browsing experience is great since the TouchWiz update.
In the end it's a personal decision. Lets just say that MY iPad is collecting dust on the shelf.

Custom Android ROM that looks and feels like Windows 10 Mobile?

As Windows 10 Mobile is just getting worse and worse by every update Microsoft churns out at a rapid speed I been forced to go back to Android.
So I had the idea, why are there no roms that look and feel like Windows 10 Mobile??
Currently there are a dozen of Launchers that tries to replicate the look of Windows Phone 8.1 and/or 10 Mobile interface but with horrible results, most of them being buggy, unusable and most of them not even remotely look like the interface on Windows Mobile at all.
What I am asking then, is it possible to make such a ROM? Or does one such thing exist? If you have a launcher that really can replicate that feel and user experience then of course that would be preferable.
And WP8 Launcher is terrible, the fact that they displays ads everywhere even though you already paid for it twice does not even make it any better.
