[Q] Arctools 0.50 strange settings options !!! - Gen8, Gen9, Gen10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello
yesterday I rooted my A70 250 GB to move soft buttons on bar.
I installed arctools 0.50 and I wrote "no"
in "ro.board.has_buttonbar" option.
fine ... after reboot the hated soft buttons are in notification bar.
Today I open again arctools to see inside it.
I noticed that options folder do not show anymore the option "ro.board.has_buttonbar=no"
?!?!?!?
I see only
FILE option ( and you can select only file)
KEY option ( and you can select only key)
where is the possibility to move back soft buttons ?
what is happened ?
I tryed to uninstall and reinstall again , but it is the same !!!!
please help me !
thanks

Hm... strange
You could send an e-mail to arctablet, the developer of arctools
Or you could install urukdroid, you have the option to move the buttons in the "control" app of UD

I posted the question on arctablet forum in the page of arctools.
I noticed if I uninstall and download it again from applib it works only 1 time.
I have to uninstall and download again to have it working another time.
If I copy the .apk on Archos and install it from the archos rather than downloading from the applib , it do not work also first time....!
very very strange

first welcome on xda.
Secondly with some more information it was easilyer to help, but here we go.
mostly themes are package in a cab file, so you download it, copied it to your Sd where ever you will, navigate with your explorer (from your device) tho the path on your sd where you storage the cab file, press on the cab file you will install. You will see a new window open who ask the installation path. select internal memory (do always this fore themes/skins) after installation do a quick restart of device and that's it.
about the wallpaper, go to the setting tab, select background & wallpaper, navigate to the image you would, and select it. that's all.
if you will have a wallpaper fore each tab make use if CHT
in case of something isn't clear contact us again, and give some more information about what you will and problems you have.

I see what you mean, it's because you remove the CHT there is a parameter who isn't present now.
Tree way's to restore.
- Restore CHT
- Install bg4all or hq wall patch.
- soft reset
I recommended the first option.

i tried to reinstall the ROM in a fresh base, i tryied to wip it and restart several times... and GingerDX had bug for me in the touch screen and buttons i could not enter the ROM when the LCD turned off. well... with so much problems i tried all again... what i am getting now:
i wiped all options in CWM, so i reinstalled GingerDX mini pro (before i had miniCM7Pro V4)...
i rebooted and called for CWM again and applied factory reset again and i rebooted again
i ignored google config e gone to bluetooth, so now IT`S WORKING!!!!!!!!!!
let me see what more...
i can wake up the screen without problems!!!!! UHU
what more...
mmmm same problem with the screen borders...no touch...
now, i just turned on the fix for the HK LED Light and restarted the ROM... waiting.... waiting...OK!!!!!!!!! Working!!!!!!!!!!!
Internet it´s ok....
let me test the GPS... funcionando perfeitamente!!!!!!!!!!
Mini Rom Manager tells: "it´s not compatible with the dispositive" when i try to use HK settings
so used a fix for this problem, now it´s compatible, but the HK setting didn´t solve the problem... so i am trying to get a xml file from an old SE backup 2.1 verson, i am trying to access the xrecovery backup through CWM but i don´t know how.... does anybody know how???? Can give me a help????
more doubts..... help again
i am trying to get my old file as tells here:
you can browse an xrecovery file you already have and find the keyprint.xml , or find the keyprint.xml from an other rom you installed in /system/usr/keyboard-config and copy it to the sd card
with root explorer or any file manager that can explore your root
go to /system/usr/keyboard-config delete the existing keyprint.xml and paste the one on sd card
give the right permisions [x] [x] [ ]
____________________ [x] [ ] [ ]
___________________ [x] [ ] [ ]
(remember to mount write before you do anything on system)
reboot your phone
but i can´t cause it tells can´t find the file in CWM
i have ".img" files as backup done when i was with 2.1 android from SE.... i need to get the original HK file to test the tip... but i have no idea about how to get this now...
PLEASE HEEEEEEEEEEEELP
you sir, are a dedicated problem solver
i've added my stock rom keyprint.xml for you, hope that helps you
unzip that to sdcard and then just copy it over to the right system folder using root eplorer and setting the right permissions
---
As for the screen borders getting no touch input, the only cm7 version that wasn't the case with was minicm7-v14,5 by slade.
all other versions suffer from it
The symbol menu crashing when scrolling is a common froyo/gingerbread issue and can partly be solved with a workaround
if you go to cm settings > user interface and enable overscrolling and set it to bounce, the symbols menu in h/w keyboard won't freeze anymore. Except that doesn't work on the symbols menu in soft keyboard.
goodluck!
Hello Anderson... in my last post i told what i did that helped me to get the most problems solved in the ROM.... i´ll repost it here:

oh god, i think i did something really bad!!!!!!!!!!!
more questions... i found nothing explaning it in the forum... can somebody help?
I am with GingerDX v5 ROM
1 - when i plug my phone to PC, so PC Companion asks for "choose between charging, connecting and etc..." but there is not the option in the phone screen to do it... what do i have to do to connect???
2 - i had sony android 2.1 and i did a backup using xRecovery so i could install another ROM ... so... after that i formated my sdcard... lost all... but before it i did a backup. So i have inside this backup a folder called xRecovery > backup > 2011-08-02.02.29.25 >
nandroid.md5
cache.img
data.img
system.img
so, my question is: "is there a way i can recover my old android 2.1 with this files??? Or did i lost all...???
and... how can i open this "files" so i can get HK files from old 2.1 i had????
I knoe i have a lot of questions, but i can help too... i think so...
hello guys... i am really ansioous for your help about my last questions.
But for now let me tell what i got.
I Unzipped GingerDX v5 and unzipped pt-br files.... so, i copied these files to Ginger ROM and deleted the original ones. So, i zipped GingerDX again.
So, i wiped all in CWM and reinstalled GingerDx using my zip.
No, it´s all working as before, but the difference is that i have my HK almost ok. Now i have the right keys unless for the SYM key i can´t do it working yet.
Please, do u guys have any ideas?
And need the "popup bar" that appears in android 2.1 when u use the HK... that bar where we can change language and see is the we r using the numbers, or "big letters (?)" or "small letters (? oh... sorry for the bad english)".
I saw something about it in the GingerDX v6 thread but i didn´t understood nothing cause they talk to people who knows about the programing... it´s not a pass to pass... so, can some good soul help me about all these problems????
PLEASE....
I´ll attach here the file i used to replace HK files in GingerDX v5... maybe it can help if somebody can have a look at it about the SYM key and the popup bar...
hope u give me a help guys , i have nobody to ask for....
Can anybody help?
Hello XDA guys... i know you r busy guys, and really intelligent ones... cause waw.... i´d really like to know about programming as u.... but well, everybody has a talent and the mine is animation in computer graphics... if i can help you anyway about it... let me know... but
I need help!!!!!!!
please... guys, i believe my problems can help not just me, but more people here as i could see... and
Hi, I kinda solved the sym key by accident and i can't really tell how i did it but actually I just selected the keyboard i needed in mini rom manager and then i went into settings/keyboard and I unchecked all boxes.
After that I rebooted and I checked the boxes back and it worked. It may sound weird but the sym key works on my phone. I'm using paul's rom V4+hotfix.
Hope this will help you.
hey again,
to get the symbol button to work go to settings > select language and keyboard. in there deselect all keyboards (htc ime lo and android keyboard) but the one called "default input" that will give u the stock rom input with t9 in portrait and a symbol button in landscape.
also, to prevet the symbols menu from crashing, go to settings > cyanogenmod > interface, there set overscrolling to bounce back (any intensity)
waw... weird...

it´s really weird that issue about sym key you did, Chucklechivers. hehehe
But... i am trying to reproduce that "issue" auehaueh.
And Carpe-Dimi...
I just got a little problem, or two:
1 -i use Ginger DX v005 ROM, i installed Mini Rom Manager v.5.2 from Slade but when i try to change the HK layout it tells me it´s not compatible with my device. So i tried to change the build.prop file as people tell here in XDA so MRM should be compatible... ok, that´s working. But when i try to change the language of my HK nothing happens after reboot... no changes. And a lot of features of MRM can´t work properly
2 - when i access the language and keyboard setting to set default input, it doesn´t exist in my ROM... i just have 2 keyboard in the Ginger DX v005: HTC and Android... no other.
About the overscrolling... can i set elastic overscroll and bright? or does it just works only in simple elastic mode?
so... any ideas, guys??? i am still searching for answers... if i thind any... i´ll put it here...
it might be that MRM can't change keyboard cause of the new keyprint.xml file u've used, but I'm not certain about that. and not all functions of MRM work on all phones and roms either.
í've added an apk for the standard input. using root explorer copy that to system/app (on your phone, remember to set r/w) and give it the permissions rw-r--r-- (read+write for owner, just read for the other two)
reboot and u should be able to select default input from the settings menu.
bounce and glow will work as well

If you are asking about the language of the ROM, is in all languages, is an LG official one (E-425)

The "new" thing is using E-425 ROM instead of E-435 in order to avoid the home, back and menu buttons stop working and the dual sim notification errors, but is not a perfect solution because the back and menu keys backlight LEDs are disabled although they still responding to touch, i found this method by myself, but probably more people found this way as well, and of course, it was not my intention taking credit from theirs, cheers!
This didn't work for me on LG E430
After installing the v10e firmware it kept saying that various processes are stopping
I had to install the official firmware v10d for my phone to work again
I rooted my LG E430 after this link:

???
to use framaroot you dont need to use kdz!
kdz is used to flash
and framaroot is used to root
they are 2 different things bro!

Framaroot don't work on e430 yet, but is working on e-435 and e-425 (very similar phones), you can flash one of those instead of the original ROM because the phone is compatible, but aparently gixy08 found a post with a better way using other program in order to root on e430 directly :victory:

A little help..
I've managed to root my LG E430 with this tutorial, thanks for that , but I have a problem with my 'back and options' buttons, their light is gone... The 'home' button also, although it shows a signs of life sometimes (with some apps and sometimes on notifications).
So my questions are:
1. Is there a way to 'add' this settings to the system (cause my guess is they were deleted/misplaced from the system)?
- via android SDK on PC, file manager, or something else (just guessing )
2. Is there a KDZ file for the e430, the original one ?
- used for unroot or fetch the settings for the original one
---
Thanks again for the tutorial and thanks in advance for my questions,
dnisko

How to add these three keys without using any app from play store?

He said without root, and for this package, you need to flash a .zip which requires root.
If you have root, the easier way without any apps is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032117
I can't find any way to enable them without root. Sorry.

i am also talking about that app but i did't see it require root
Thanks you guys so much for replying..:good:
But there are others apps too which can provide soft keys without root (Home & back button only)
like
1) Back button ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appspot.app58us.backkey&hl=en )
2) Virtual Button non ROOT for JB ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.neko.freewing.VirtualButton )
3) Button Savior Non Root ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smart.swkey.nonroot&hl=en )
I was wondering if a app can provide soft Back & Home keys without any root (like the apps i mentioned above) then there must be some ways to do so by coding & by not using these apps.
like this one u guys mentioned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032117 , but unfortunately it required root which i dont wanna do because i don't want my device to be vulnerable.
so plz if anyone know the coding of even Home & Back soft keys plzz plzzz plzz tell me. because i really need it ,
Because my awesome Hard keys is dead. & without these keys my phone is useless.:crying:
BTW again Thank you guys very much for replying :good::angel:

for enabling soft buttons via coding you need to edit system files which require root so you can not add softkeys by coding without root

I found 2 solutions for your problem:
1- Try adding "ro.show.navigationbar=0" instead of "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" (without the quotation marks ). But first make sure that they aren't present in the beginning. (Got this from: http://bit.ly/1sosAta )
2- The other way is by flashing a .zip file made by an XDA member and he posted it on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/mod-enable-screen-nav-soft-keys-t1918166
Here is the download link: http://nrecom.net/downloads/summary/11-navbar/189-nav-universal-aroma-16
Try this. I hope I helped

Thank You but i got another problem now, & i think big one!
after trying so many time the 1st process i describe above & failed ,
I overwrite the "build.prob" file with a "build.prob" file which i manually copy using Es file explorer before rooting my device from SD Card.
But Before i overwrite i again edit the back up file & put this value qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in it , & Then overwrite it.
& Then I unchecked "Quick Boot " Option In settings & shut down my phone & try to turn it on again but since then my phone is not starting. though the starting animation are playing at the moment i turn it on but freeze then, at the end of the starting animation.
I open boot loader by pressing Volume down + Power key together until the boot menu appear & Clear "eMMC" 3 times & reboot . but nothing happened.
Can u tell me what the hell happened with my phone? & How can i make it work again?

It's boot looping because you've done something wrong, so if you don't have CWM and a backup installed you'll have to reflash your device. You'll have to check your devices forum for help with that.

But what did go wrong? I did not flash any custom rom . Neither i delete any system file . I did successfully root my phone.
& checked it with "Root Checker" apps too.
Then what goes wrong?
& how to reflash my device?

recent app softkey goes crazy

in the last month, i have g925f rooted , 5.1.1, sometimes (offten!) ) recent app softkey start random and open double window, recent apps.... i try to hibernate some apk but nothing.... i try also to clear cache...but nothing. In safe mode everithng works fine. i have only the last chance to clean all my data, but i read that this don't fix the problem.
it's very annoyng when you write and random the left soft key start to work itself......
any solution?
thank U!
i made all kind of reset, but nothing change, sometime i have a "crazy" soft button that start to work like a spirit! or stop to work.
i tried also "safe mode" and a little less, but same (random) problem!
The only way, i find, before to go to assistance (or to put in the garbage!!!) is to disable the softkey.
i find this on xda:
Use a root explorer (I used X-plore with root enabled).
Go to
/system/usr/keylayout/Generic.kl
Backup file Generic.kl ( copy it as a .bk or something )
Then open the file Generic.kl using the text editor within X-plore.
Then find the word APP_SWITCH linking with the code number (mine is key 254), change APP_SWITCH to MENU. Then reboot and your are done. The Recent Apps button is now back to being a Menu button. Life is great.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gala...t3084638/page4
put"#" before key 254 and the key stop to exist, and stop to crash my balls
if someone has a different way to fix is wellcome for me.
thanks!
