He said without root, and for this package, you need to flash a .zip which requires root.
If you have root, the easier way without any apps is this:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032117
I can't find any way to enable them without root. Sorry.

i am also talking about that app but i did't see it require root

Thanks you guys so much for replying..:good:
But there are others apps too which can provide soft keys without root (Home & back button only)
like
1) Back button ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.appspot.app58us.backkey&hl=en )
2) Virtual Button non ROOT for JB ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=jp.ne.neko.freewing.VirtualButton )
3) Button Savior Non Root ( https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.smart.swkey.nonroot&hl=en )
I was wondering if a app can provide soft Back & Home keys without any root (like the apps i mentioned above) then there must be some ways to do so by coding & by not using these apps.
like this one u guys mentioned. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2032117 , but unfortunately it required root which i dont wanna do because i don't want my device to be vulnerable.
so plz if anyone know the coding of even Home & Back soft keys plzz plzzz plzz tell me. because i really need it ,
Because my awesome Hard keys is dead. & without these keys my phone is useless.:crying:
BTW again Thank you guys very much for replying :good::angel:

for enabling soft buttons via coding you need to edit system files which require root so you can not add softkeys by coding without root

I found 2 solutions for your problem:
1- Try adding "ro.show.navigationbar=0" instead of "qemu.hw.mainkeys=0" (without the quotation marks ). But first make sure that they aren't present in the beginning. (Got this from: http://bit.ly/1sosAta )
2- The other way is by flashing a .zip file made by an XDA member and he posted it on this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s3/themes-apps/mod-enable-screen-nav-soft-keys-t1918166
Here is the download link: http://nrecom.net/downloads/summary/11-navbar/189-nav-universal-aroma-16
Try this. I hope I helped

Thank You but i got another problem now, & i think big one!
after trying so many time the 1st process i describe above & failed ,
I overwrite the "build.prob" file with a "build.prob" file which i manually copy using Es file explorer before rooting my device from SD Card.
But Before i overwrite i again edit the back up file & put this value qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 in it , & Then overwrite it.
& Then I unchecked "Quick Boot " Option In settings & shut down my phone & try to turn it on again but since then my phone is not starting. though the starting animation are playing at the moment i turn it on but freeze then, at the end of the starting animation.
I open boot loader by pressing Volume down + Power key together until the boot menu appear & Clear "eMMC" 3 times & reboot . but nothing happened.
Can u tell me what the hell happened with my phone? & How can i make it work again?

It's boot looping because you've done something wrong, so if you don't have CWM and a backup installed you'll have to reflash your device. You'll have to check your devices forum for help with that.

But what did go wrong? I did not flash any custom rom . Neither i delete any system file . I did successfully root my phone.
& checked it with "Root Checker" apps too.
Then what goes wrong?

[Q] Arctools 0.50 strange settings options !!!

Hello
yesterday I rooted my A70 250 GB to move soft buttons on bar.
I installed arctools 0.50 and I wrote "no"
in "ro.board.has_buttonbar" option.
fine ... after reboot the hated soft buttons are in notification bar.
Today I open again arctools to see inside it.
I noticed that options folder do not show anymore the option "ro.board.has_buttonbar=no"
?!?!?!?
I see only
FILE option ( and you can select only file)
KEY option ( and you can select only key)
where is the possibility to move back soft buttons ?
what is happened ?
I tryed to uninstall and reinstall again , but it is the same !!!!
please help me !
thanks

Hm... strange
You could send an e-mail to arctablet, the developer of arctools
Or you could install urukdroid, you have the option to move the buttons in the "control" app of UD
I posted the question on arctablet forum in the page of arctools.
I noticed if I uninstall and download it again from applib it works only 1 time.
I have to uninstall and download again to have it working another time.
If I copy the .apk on Archos and install it from the archos rather than downloading from the applib , it do not work also first time....!
very very strange

{PRO}[MOD] Add Android Search Button to Slide-Out Keyboard [UPDATED 28th Sep]

*** NB: UPDATED FOR ICS COMPATIBILITY *** (the old instructions would cause problems with your home key on stock Sony ICS)
A dedicated Android Search Button is useful for apps like K-9 Mail which rely on such a button, or in other apps like Browser or Messaging. Unlike the other Xperias, on which you can access the Android search function by long-pressing the menu key, there is no such functionality on Xperia Pro.
Here is a little mod that I want to share that adds the functionality of the Android Search Button to the "globe" key of your slide-out keyboard. On Sony stock ROMS the globe key will still function as normal to bring up the keyboard settings when a text field is highlighted, but with the added benefit of also acting as an Android search button when a text field is not highlighted!
Manual instructions:
1. Root your phone
2. Edit the /system/usr/keylayout/pm8058-keypad.kl file (e.g. with ES Note Editor etc.) and modify the line at the end reading "key 368 SWITCH_CHARSET WAKE_DROPPED" to read:
Code:
key 368 SEARCH WAKE_DROPPED
("SWITCH_CHARSET" is not needed here as it appears that Sony have hard-coded this functionality for key 368 into their software keyboard apk)
3. Restart your phone and enjoy the ability to easily search in your Email, browser or SMS app simply by pressing the "globe" key!!
Click to collapse
I have tested this on both stock Sony Gingerbread and stock Sony Ice Cream Sandwich firmware. This should work on all languages as the "globe" acts the same on all.
Attached is also a copy of my modded pm8058-keypad.kl file for reference. (make sure that you give this file the correct permissions if you copy it instead of editing)
There is more documentation on the .kl files at: http://source.android.com/tech/input/key-layout-files.html
Download the automated update zip:
Alternatively, for those of you rooted and familiar with using ClockWorkMod Recovery, you can use the attached Edify Update zip to quickly patch your .kl file (edit: now version 3 of the script is both Gingerbread and ICS compatible and corrects any problems left by version 1 or 2):
1. Download the attached emulate_search_key_v3.zip file to SD card
2. Reboot into recovery
3. Select install from zip, and choose the emulate_search_key_v3.zip file.
4. Reboot and enjoy!

My MK16i using stock rom 4.0.1.A.0.283 rooted, locked bootloader, gb 2.3.4
inside the file pm8058-keypad.kl, in the last row, the key 368 have already set to SWITCH_CHARSET..
"key 368 SWITCH_CHARSET WAKE_DROPPED"
should i change the "Switch_charset" to "Search" or should i write new line (with the same key 368)?

No, contrary to what now.i.feel has said, you can add a new line that also uses key 368.
The point of doing this is that the globe key can be made dual-function and can have both the SWITCH_CHARSET and SEARCH functions on the same key (SEARCH when a text edit field is inactive and SWITCH_CHARSET when a text edit field is active).
Apologies, I have done some testing and you are indeed correct. You should indeed edit the same line and NOT add a new line as it causes problems in ICS. Sony seem to have hard-coded the keyboard settings function into this key anyway so you don't actually need SWITCH_CHARSET at all in this file in order to get the SWITCH_CHARSET functionality.

I know the following definitely works for dual functionality:
Code:
key 368 SWITCH_CHARSET WAKE_DROPPED
key 368 SEARCH [B]ALT[/B] WAKE_DROPPED
I removed the "ALT" as Ameer supposedly confirmed it to work without it, but ow he is giving me doubts. Try with and without the "ALT" and please report back as to whether the dual functionality works!
(I lost root when I updated to .62 firmware with PC companion, so can't test myself. I've too much valuable data on my phone at the minute to be fiddling with flashing without a good backup (anyone know a backup utility that will backup app data without root?). Will report back when I have the easily-rootable-without-data-loss official ICS update)

Firstly, I could not understand what SWITCH_CHARSET does. I do not see anything happening. Can someone please explain what it does?

"SWITCH_CHARSET" is just the normal stock function of the "globe" key, i.e. if you are writing some text in a text box and press "globe" then the "International keyboard settings" screen (see attached screenshot) should appear to allow you to switch writing languages etc. (assuming you have selected the stock SE International Keyboard - if you are using a different software keyboard then SWITCH_CHARSET may do nothing).
SWITCH_CHARSET doesn't do anything at all if you haven't tapped on a text box, and aren't in text-editing mode. This is why you can use "globe" as a dual function for search as search only applies in the opposite scenario when you are not editing text.

The "new" thing is using E-425 ROM instead of E-435 in order to avoid the home, back and menu buttons stop working and the dual sim notification errors, but is not a perfect solution because the back and menu keys backlight LEDs are disabled although they still responding to touch, i found this method by myself, but probably more people found this way as well, and of course, it was not my intention taking credit from theirs, cheers!
This didn't work for me on LG E430
After installing the v10e firmware it kept saying that various processes are stopping
I had to install the official firmware v10d for my phone to work again
I rooted my LG E430 after this link:

I never had issues related with stopping processes on my e430, but if you got a proper rooting using this tutorial on the original firmware i will try it, thanks for sharing this method
???
to use framaroot you dont need to use kdz!
kdz is used to flash
and framaroot is used to root
they are 2 different things bro!

Framaroot don't work on e430 yet, but is working on e-435 and e-425 (very similar phones), you can flash one of those instead of the original ROM because the phone is compatible, but aparently gixy08 found a post with a better way using other program in order to root on e430 directly :victory:

Hello Beoxoeb
Do you tried this method (link of gixy08)? Can you confirm that it works for E430?
And no problems?

Hello guys! I finally found the way to root this terminal without losing any functionality (Home, Menu, Back buttons and LED notifications working).
STEPS:
1. Set your device on download mode (shutdown the phone, then press "ON + Volume Down") and connect via USB on your PC
2. Download this file: m eg a.co . n z /#!AgxRTZDA!Z0Ni-g5eg9D-X9YEwVcKCFN8hpYwvbex6YCop5MTqfo (remove spaces, i cant post a entire url for the new users restrictions, sorry)
3. Install MSXML 4.0 SP3 Parser (msxml.msi)
4. Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
5. Set "Type" on "3GQTC" and "PoneMode" on "DIAG"
6. Select V10E_00.kdz from the folder that you downloaded
7. Click on "Launch software update" and wait a few minutes
8. After it finished, put Framaroot-1.6.0.apk on your SDcard or Internal memory

A little help..
I've managed to root my LG E430 with this tutorial, thanks for that , but I have a problem with my 'back and options' buttons, their light is gone... The 'home' button also, although it shows a signs of life sometimes (with some apps and sometimes on notifications).
So my questions are:
1. Is there a way to 'add' this settings to the system (cause my guess is they were deleted/misplaced from the system)?
- via android SDK on PC, file manager, or something else (just guessing )
2. Is there a KDZ file for the e430, the original one ?
- used for unroot or fetch the settings for the original one
---
Thanks again for the tutorial and thanks in advance for my questions,
dnisko

[MOD]i9195 Disable HOME button on lockscreen(rooted stock rom)[MOD]

Hi
The main goal: disabling the home button wake on the lockscreen and every other home fuction remain the same
this solution based on this tutorial:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2224688
you need root acces:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2364980
Download Total Commander from Play (it's better bcose there is automatic moun/remount function )
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ghisler.android.TotalCommander
- allow root acces to TC
- navigate to /system/usr/keylayout
- locate and copy to safe place gpio-keys.kl and sec_keys.kl
- open the original files with TC editor (press once on the filename and choose "Edit")
- Search the following lines in gpio-keys.kl:
Code:
key 102 HOME WAKE
key 172 HOME WAKE
and delete the WAKE world and all spaces after HOME!
it should be looking:
Code:
key 102 HOME
key 172 HOME
- save gpio-keys.kl (TC do all mount-remount thing)
- Search the following line in sec_keys.kl:
Code:
key 172 HOME WAKE
and delete the WAKE world and all spaces after HOME!
it should be looking:
Code:
key 172 HOME
- save sec_keys.kl (TC do all mount-remount thing)
restart the phone and enjoy
If you're using CM, go to Settings - Display and Uncheck the second last option to achieve the same effect in a much simpler way

Very useful tutorial. Thank you a lot. My phone used to unlock itself in my pocket and then make a call or mess up settings... S4 mini reacts to touches trough thin cloth. This wasn't problem on HTC.
Wanam xposed module can do it ss well. Obviously you need to have xposed framework installed.

Not working with my AT&T S3 with stock 4.4.2 android. This is driving my nuts. There has to be a way to disable this. HELP!!!
Hi,
I've rooted my Galaxy S4 mini because the home button is turning on the screen continiously draining my battery. The root was succesfull, but i cant edit the files with Total commander. I get a 're-mount error'. Anyone know how to solve this? I'm running stock android 4.2.2.
I also tried installing Wanam Xposed and found the option, but it didn't work.
Thanks
Removing WAKE didn't help my either. I had to comment out (#) the whole line in gpio-keys.kl.
Now HOME is completely disabled and I installed Auto Hide Soft Keys to create a virtual nav bar.
On the other hand, who needs HOME

Thanks for your reaction! My problem is that i cant change the gpio-keys.kl file. I get a 're-mount error'. But maybe i will need your suggestion further on.
Hmmm, phone is rooted?
I used ES File Explorer in Root Mode, changed gpio-keys.kl file permissions to rx-rx-rx, edited the file and restored permissions to rx-r-r. After a reboot, HOME was disabled.

Yes the phone is rooted. I checked it with root checker. Maybe i need to change the the file permissions. How can i do this? With ES file explorer?
Do you use stock android ?
Yes I'm on stock rom.
Open ES Explorer and go to Tools. Switch on Root Explorer. Mark the file and change the permissions via More > Properties. Just add the middle and lower check on the right side.
Now edit the file and change the permissions back.
I am able to save the file now, but the home button is still functioning. I commented out the lines with HOME in gpio-keys.kl and rebooted. But still the screen keeps turning on because of the home button.:crying:
In reverse?
Anyone know if the opposite variation on this is possible?
I.e., I'd like to be able to use the home button to wake my phone up, but not to take me to the home screen, simply to turn the screen on so I can continue with whatever app I'm currently using, such as gps... (if it can carry on working as home button when the screen is already on, that would be fine).
Using the side power button can sometimes be a hassle and I'd like a way to simply turn the screen on quickly. I'm also on CM not stock though...
Thanks!

Swap capacitive button "back" and r"recent apps"

Hi,
I have the Phhusson treble AOSP rom V22 on my device (honor 9 STF-L09).
I have hidding the softkey by modifying the build prop "qemu..."
Now i try to switch/swap the both capacitive buttons. I want my back (left) to become recent apps and so on.
I tried the adb shell method "space,recent;home...." this works for the softkey but not for the capacitive hardware key.
Does someones know how to do this ? some roms have this option i guess it exist !
Thansk for help.

What about to edit Generic.kl file (/system/usr/keylayout) - try to find APP_SWITCH for recents and BACK for back, but double check it, please.
Regards.
