for froyo probably....
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1049894
and probably the 1.54GHz kernel on GB
but i think games are better on froyo at this point until we get an official release for our phone, i might be wwrong though, i only really play angry birds and doodle jump
Froyo is good for gaming because it has great battery life, ginger is good cuz you can set your soft keys and use them in emulators.

Cm7 is by far the best for gaming... if you want the bwst gaming experience, youll wanna overclock.. if you want the best gaming experience period, get CM7 with kernel du jour and oc to 1.55 or 1.6 if your phone cab take it... you will chew up those games....
I can play legend of zelda ooc at full framerate as well as 6 other n64 games perfectly

I recommend super dragonMODz OC up to 1.5ghz if your phone supports it

Okay so I'm looking for a good rom, with good battery (I need at least 16+ heavy / moderate usage), ffc on it (not optional since I could probably just flash the ffc mod.zip), and good performance (since I will be playing alot of games) so any opinions =]

Bi-Winning v3 with one of ECOTOX's DragonMODz kernel. I use the ULP version and get 40+ hours. He's got an OC version too if you OC. Won't get quite as good battery but still very good. I don't do a lot of games but lots of calls, text, and web. Wifi is on just about 24/7 too.
40+ hours god I would love that ...I'm actually on bi-winning v3 myself ...I have no clue what version I'm on ..but I guess I should check out that kernel

Yeah again I don't do games much but I would definitely give his kernels a look. ECOTOX makes them with games in mind. They're really great.
Also, have you tried different modems? I get better signal with KB5, but better battery with KB1, so I have to choose between the two...

Now i am pretty sure this is already a common problem, at least many of us have our phone ruin by the 2.1 update:
see this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=831658
It seem that the 2.1 update cost some problem with those with defective motherboard by surfacing them.
Will this happen to gingerbread? assuming that gingerbread use more resources then 2.1 or since it is design for higher grade phones.
never know what type of problems might surface from this upgrade. I don't think SE even do that much testing before release these.
At worst the 2.3 update will fold space and time itself and cause the device to execute Ctrl-Alt-Kill the user.
Who know's maybe it's all just to meltdown the device for more sales.
Then again i am super paranoid.. so rather make the assumptions yourself.
The custom roms are faster that this. I've 2.2.1 moded wb rom by me and tuning by my, backstab without any lag and all other games to, dungeon efenders to. I never will update my phone to official 2.3. So lot of work with rom for games.
This not possible, the google owner say gingerbread no require great hardware, if you use froyo can use GB, this is tales from operators to sell more. Or deficients terminals.

I'm running MIUI Gingerbread on my phone, and it's even faster then 2.2.1! Just some little bugs, camera...

1. there is still no official 2.3 yet.
2. backstab requires Gingerbread, so you can't play it.
3. Dungeon Defenders lags alot on any rom...

I've been very impressed with the t959's ability to run games but I'm starting to see some stuttering on some of the newer titles, so .... What is the best rom and/or kernel for gaming?
I'm currently running Bi-Winning V3 EDT with the default Bullet kernel, but haven't overclocked yet, if that makes any difference.
Suggestions?
overclocking makes a big difference. it can increase fps by 10-15.
Dmz kernel is good since the maker is a gamer an he focused on gaming an performance but still with great battery

Thanks for responding! How safe is it? Do I have to mess with voltage too? What kind of overclock are you running, if you are running one?

Thanks! I'll try that.
Cm7 is best imo
I run legend of zelda ocarina very smoothly on it... if you need even more, you can get glitch kernel and oc up to 1.7ghz... if you still stutter, your in the wrong century

Isn't Cm7 a 2.3 rom? I thought gingerbread was slower with most games.

Anyone having issues with dropping frames while playing Nova 2 or Modern combat 3? Games seem choppy. I am running pershoots kernal overclocked at 1.4GHZ with set CPU. I was hoping someone had an answer as to why the galaxy is doing this and maybe a fix. My evo running cm 7.1 runs the games smoother. Thanks in advance!!!
The Galaxy doesnt "do" this. Only yours.
Those games runs perfectly on mine, (stock RUXKK2)
I dont know what kind of magical fix your hoping for, but let's get back to earth.
Those are the only possible fixes;
1) Un-overclock your CPU
2) Try another ROM
Most likely your overclocking isnt stable enough, and thermal throttling interferes when you launch ressources-heavy games.
it's running the stock 3.2 rom. I tired the stock kernal and it's even worse then pershoots at 1. 4GHZ. I'm going to try tasks 13.1 slim rom tonight and see if it helps at all.

I've got a P7500 running Overcome 2.2.0, and I also find the framerate is poor in Modern Combat 3
For example, MC3 runs a lot smoother in my SGS2, but I think it's obvious because it has a faster processor and a smaller screen.
Can anyone else post their impressions, please?
Cheers
Wish i could try those, the only Gameloft games that show up as compatible with the verizon galaxy 10.1 is uno and sudoku LOL.
same here, even Fruit Ninja THD lags
im on overcome 2.2.0 with pershoot's kernal
and using setCPU to overclock to 1.4GHz at performance
i also tried without overclock and it lags even more
Either there is some particular issue with Overcome or you are asking too much!
While not being really enjoyable/playable (as any tablet shooter) , I'd say it runs fairly well here on stock rom; at least 20-30fps; no apparent lag that would plague the experience.
Try a stock rom and enlight us;

Yes, of couse it runs @ 20-30 fps, but IMO that's laggy.
I'm not used to play on tablets, so maybe I'm asking for too much.
Thx anyway
The only time my games lag (Modern Combat 3, Nova 2, N64oid) is when I use my ps3 controller. Other than that all my games run smoothly

Chance the build.prop file to make it think your using a wifi galaxy. Do a quick search for instructions.

Hi, I want to know which JB do you recomend as the fastest, I´ve tried the epinter, jokersax, aokp, and miui. But still the Mrom scores higher with the antutu benchmark.
Currently I´m using Mrom and so far the battery life and the speed of the Atrix is awesome. Without having to overclock I get 5,340 of score, Is there a JB rom that can score to at least 5,000 with the antutu without having to overclock?
Why do benchmarks mean so much to you?
You already tried all the JB roms pretty much anyways, you most likely answered your own question.

Benchmarks mean nothing. Whether your phone lags doing day to day operations is the only thing that matters
Sent from my MB860 using xda premium
Synthetic benchmarks are completely useless and meaningless in that they do not represent normal day-to-day usage patterns. Personal experience is by far the best benchmark there is.
EDIT: bah, too late, has been said already.

I got a kick out of the benchmark results that came out with iPhone 5 vs GS3. IPhone was higher slightly and isheeps were doing circle jerks because of it. I've never seen a cross platform benchmark test and I tried saying how benchmarks do not mean a thing. I got down voted hard.

Its funny too because in a few months there will probably be an android phone that's even twice as powerful as the gs3. The isheep thinking they will always have the best are sadly mistaken.

Till now all JB roms are experimental, so I prefer a stable one, rather than fast.
You won't find a "very fast" JB rom 'cause we dont have the drivers neither the kernel for managing everything as the GB roms
I tried several and at least with the day-by-day use, epinters was the best, no lag but some games didn't run as fast as the GB rom

thanks to everyone for the responses, I´ll keep my Mrom for now and wait to see if Motorola releases the Drivers so we can have the hardware acceleration on JB.
