Custom launcher - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Themes and Apps

Anyone using a custom launcher? It seems only adw works at the moment?
Stock is so laggy, and adw makes it faster but I don't like how ads is set out

I used adw before I went to the bonsai Rom. Stock browser on there is great. Launcher pro also works ..and there is another called VTL launcher or something like that ... I bought it, but wasnt impressed so I returned it.
For me, the stock is as good as any when running Bonsai. Adw is awesome too ... but i dunno, reminded me of a phone too much I guess haha.

Ya that's what I thought to, and reminds me of a phone.. Just wish the ui was quicker

Launcher Pro Plus. Resize everything, but set it to 10x10 in apperance

how do you get 10 x 10? I like adw better as of now, but it cuts off on the screen, which is annoying. Launcher pro plus seemed laggy and the app drawer icons are wayyy to small. any way to fix lag via settings?

Home screen settings, then edit number of columns or rows. Paid version only.
I've got no lag using LP with bonsai rom and pershoots latest kernel. No OC. I like my home screen heavily custom with email, gmail, twitter, FB and widgetsoids on my home screen.

yeah, unless something is just wrong on mine. If i use ADW, scrolling through homescreens is ipad smooth. Loading the APP drawer is pretty smooth (not perfect), but the graphics cut off on ADW. Launcher pro is as smooth switching homescreens, but loading the app drawer seems laggy. I wish there were more options for launchers. Android is the future, not sure why App developers are so slow to realize this.

Using ADW here. Works great. For some reason, I can't get a home launcher to stay set as default.
I like how VTL has persistant docks on 3 sides of each screen. I can widgetfy my screens and keep my icon shortcuts to the docks. However it can tank your honeycomb tablet if you try to set as default. You will end up stuck in a bootup mode. So becareful, and they specifically note not ready for honeycomb.
Launcher Pro looks like ADW, but lacks all the customization options and settings.
I am new to Tab10.1. Had 4 Asus TF101's and decided there was no number 5 in my future. but so far like having Maxathon, Market, Moxier, and Friendcaster as persistent docked icons. Would prefer VTL..... more persistent icons. But I am curious about the Touchwiz I've read on here with Widgets. I don't see anything in my stock browser. Am I behind or it is a port/hack?

ADS Launcher EX

Has anyone else tried this launcher? I found it in the market tonight. it's like a new upgrade from the original ADS with more customizations like scroll animations. It's readily really good.
it has resizeable widgets?

Firstly, to save any confusion, this is ADW Launcher EX. It's a paid version of ADW Launcher and is worth every penny! It keeps all the original features of ADW Launcher but adds a lot of extra features such as customised home scrolling animations and the home edit function from the Galaxy S.
Goodbye Go Launcher, you have been outclassed! This is my new home app.
Hot tip: disable desktop bounce when using animations. Looks 1000 times better.
ahh thank you for that. Stopping the desktop bounce did make it look a lot better. Amazing!
And to the guy that said LP is still better.lmao, buy this app and then judge it. LP cant touch the new ADW EX launcher.
I paid for LP plus and icons a few days ago. If I new the new adw was coming out I would of waited. The new adw is very nice, slick and quick.

Does this version still have the "feature" of swiping the dock to hide/unhide? I never could find a setting to disable that, main reason I went to lp...

I went ahead and purchased the app, it's very nice. The most important to me was the ability to increase the size of icons (setting at 125 looks good, as I move past 150 it starts to get visibly blurry). The new effects are nice too.
Is anyone else having problems locking the homescreen to portrait with ADW Ex? Both 'portrait' and 'landscape' seem to lock the phone to landscape. Auto is the only way to get portrait, but it seems to briefly flick back to briefly landscape sometimes, even when the phone isn't rotated.

using Launcher Pro and it works great, but not optimized for tablet yet.
I'm currently using ADW Launcher EX. I've gotten better performance from it than the stock launcher. Can't wait for the next release as it should have better integration with Honeycomb.
i never used launch pro , why i have an impression that the app allows you to customerize widget rather than being a home app ..

It lets you adjust the widget size if you purchase the full version, but it's mainly meant as a replacement home.
I use ADW EX after trying Launcher Pro which had a number of FC's. Adw flies on my GT but LP's widgets look great on the big screen. Just a bit of advice if you use a custom launcher is set the orientation to portrait or landscape and set it the way you want. The screens don't transition well if you use large widgets which I do.
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA Premium App
I use LauncherPro primarily because of its great looking widgets and widget resizing. Honeycomb's resizing features only work with certain widgets specifically designed to support it. LauncherPro will resize any widget.
The only thing I don't like about LauncherPro is its app drawer, but for that, I have a shortcut to an activity that points to the native home screen. I haven't been able to locate the specific command to automatically launch its app drawer, but just getting to the home screen is a start. In theory, you could launch any replacement home screen's app drawer.

Nova, Apex, Trebuchet

I'm not trying to make a versus thread. I have tried all three and to be completely honest they all basically feel the same to me- I was just wondering if there are any snazzy features in one absent in the other. I am personally using Nova launcher currently but it has stopped working on me several times on AOKP build 32. Also if anyone could give a little input for reliability on either apex or trebuchet as i've been using Nova the longest I believe.
I think apex is the best. It seems to be totally fully featured, as in a few things that come free as opposed to paying for a few extra features on nova (I can't remember exactly what the were)

I installed APEX as soon as I installed AOKP and I havent look elsewhere.
Apex bothered me with its "All, Downloaded, Widgets" app drawer setup, and I didn't see a way to remove the Downloaded tab. So I use Nova.
Apex They are great at responding to e-mails if you have any problems. I was having an issue they gave me a beta version that's not released I gave them feedback and then they pushed the beta to the play store

That part of it is a tad on the weird side, since it is not called that in the drawer
I have to be honest, I used ADW back with CM7 and just kept on using it. Easier to keep backed up even since no ics rom seems to use it so it's not a system app.
As long as I can make folders and stick five apps at the bottom I'm happy.

well it sounds like I need to get more friendly with Apex, but I do agree that trebuchet is a good launcher. Nova has just unfortunately slipped up too many times for my tastes...
Apex ftw!
I've been playing around with apex and got my homescreens how I like them but one thing i've had trouble with is widgets. Several widgets have needed re-sizing and in order for the widget to not be chopped off i have to re-size it to where it takes up more room than it should. I have stock (240) dpi, and I played with the persistent search bar but no dice. It may just be that they aren't being sized correctly in the first place by apex i dunno...
Why i say trebuchet beats them all its because it works the way it should no issue really simple settings and doesn't too much like a custom launcher...

I use Nova and paid for Prime. It's only a little bit of money. I tried Apex and didn't like it as much. I didn't like Trebuchet because I couldn't do anything about the dock. Roll with what you want.
i didn't like Trebuchet launcher. There wasn't really that much customization you could do. Apex was pretty cool IMO but, for some reason i couldn't place down any widgets, so i moved on to Nova Launcher. It works fine for me. I haven't had any problems whatsoever and i can deal with the free version. Just my 2 cents
I like apex it has a little more options to customize things like folders and how they look. It was a little annoying how I couldn't put Widgets down from application drawer but if you long press screen you could place widget down or download apex apk and move it to system apps through root explorer and reboot.

Best launcher for Nook Tablet

I am using Go Launcher currently which seems pretty good, but also seems very bloated. I use ADW on my phone so tried that on the nook, and the icons where either too small or blurry when I made them bigger. What do you guys use?

It's hard to tell. I would have run them with the intent of measuring battery life.
I felt like Go Launcher HD was pretty resource intense. Nova Launcher definitely runs smoother. I ended up buying the pro version.
Go Launcher HD has best implementation of folders, but runs slower and has less options right now. I think that eventually it may be a really great launcher for tablets. If you want a free launcher with folder support then Go Launcher HD is your best bet right now.
I didn't give Apex a lot of time. It seemed buggier to me.
I hope this helps!
ssLauncher
I've just started using SSLauncher -
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ss.launcher&feature=search_result
I *really* like this, especially on a larger screen like the Nook.
I'd say it's kind of a combo between Launcher 7 and using Simple Text or that program that lets you set pictures of any size as icons (can't remember what it is called) It also supports my favorite widgets on screen, too - - but allows them to be resized at something like half or 1/4 icon size intervals. All this is done natively by the launcher app.
It also comes with templates and has some themes. There is a free version - I'm using the paid version which is $3.00.
I'm getting all the functionality on CM7, btw . . . so fluid resizing, etc is not ICS dependent.
It's a new launcher that I stumbled across while searching for something new at the Play store. I may not use it long on my phone, because it seems to work best with lots of screen to fill up. But I think it's a keeper on the Nook.
I'm using Launcher 7. I love that kind of interface. It looks a lot more clean to me. There's a free and a donate version up on the market.

I ended up using ADW Launcher EX myself, I used Go Launcher EX for a while but I found it still pretty buggy in a lot of ways, if I restarted Go Launcher or the Nook the widgets never would reload correctly and every so often the fonts would just get really really big for no reason.
I use Go Launcher HD , but as soon as my WiFi is fixed, I'm gonna try some different ones.
I use Apex Pro on both my phone and Nook. I used to use Go, but found it too resource intensive (though it does, Imo, have the best notification implementation; nothing else I've tried shows Facebook notification badges).
Tried Launcher 7 but didn't like it as much. I'll probably buy Nova Prime the next time it's on sale.

I used Go with my Droid X and Liberty and loved it. Since this is my first HTC I've been giving sense a try, but the thing that drives me nuts is the home screen only sits vertical, where as Go works either or.
I never did theme mine, the craziest i got was enabling some of the cool page transition graphics. I'm starting to lean toward Go again, esp if i can get the sense clock/weather 4x1 widget. I have to say i love that thing a lot.

Being only vertical is what drives me nuts about Sense. If there was a way for the homescreen to be auto orientation, then Sense would be all I need.

Same with me, that's a waste of space. Apex launcher doesn't have that black menu bar. Not sure about other launchers.
I used it in the past but found it "choppier" then other options. ADWLauncher EX is my go-to nowadays. never had a problem with it.
I'm trying it right now. It seems to be the only one that I can find that offers a 5 column app drawer and allows resizable widgets for free.
It seems pretty fast, there is choppiness every now and then but that is usually when I'm running other stuff at the same time.
The biggest downside is the Honeycomb menu bar. I emailed the developer about this issue, hopefully they will take care of it since it is a fairly simple fix. If some of you like it too (except for the menu bar), I'd encourage you to email them and complain. The more complaints the higher the chances of a fix. [email protected]
