Huge battery drain... - HTC EVO 3D

What on earth is draining my battery so bad? On 4 hour charge w/ screen on for a little over 1 hour and i got 47% battery left...display is 77% drain. Is there an app thats draining my batt like mad? I got 4g off, wifi off, gps off, and bluetooth off...and i've been in a strong Sprint area the whole time. What's the deal?

evo3d comes with a task manager, check whats on and kill it. i do it often

Try watchdog.. it will notify you if an app is above threshold.

i had a similar issue, nothing i did helped out... i ended up doing a factory reset and it seemed to resolve the issue. i have most of the same apps i had before and im getting great battery life now.

I get roughly 14 hrs max on my low - normal usage.
and a lot less when i actually use the phone

Try using OS monitor from the market. Go through the settings, change the sorting method to "load" and watch for BS running that shouldn't be.

Try and put.it.in ur car's battery to.see if.it last longer

Try using CPU Spy to see if you're phone is going into deep sleep properly.

That sounds like you got a bad battery, even if the phone is not sleeping it should last longer than that. I would reset to see if maybe your batt stats got corrupted and if that doesn't do anything see if Sprint will give you another battery to try.

Turn auto sync off, that seems to help a little. Set task manager on home screen and use it every time you exit an app. The battery life on this phone is disgusting.

The only time I had really bad battery life was with the overclock kernal. I ghetto adb'd it to my phone around 12est and by 6pm est it was dead not low battery but completly dead. I poped the battery out reverted to stock temp rooted it without overclock now im back to the 12 hours heavy use 2 days with min usage.

Not bad at all for me. Of course it drops a hell of a lot quicker if you leave the screen on 24/7 but mine will still last 5-6 hours while listening to pandora over bluetooth and with the screen constantly on browsing the web. When not being used constantly it lasts a lot longer.

I have confirmed wakelock, started last night. I'm totally stock, no overclocking or anything.
How do I go about figuring out what's causing it?

Our you could just not use your phone. Then your battery will katy all day.
In all seriousness though, if you haven't already go to settings> wireless & networks> mobile networks & turn off always on data. You won't notice a difference in anything except your battery life will increase. Also, turn off automatic screen brightness & set it somewhere comfortable for you. All that brightness adjusting will drain on the battery. 3D movies, pictures & video will drain it as well. Also as someone else mentioned, check the built in real manager every once in a while. You would be surprised at some of the apps still running in the background even though you haven't used then in a while.
Just a few suggestions. If you have ashley tried all of this then wait until e can flash Roms & Kernels or buy the Seidio monster 4000mah battery.

Check your app manager to see if it constantly running in the background. I tried using a monitor and app killer but I just got too anal and when back to doing everything manually. Check all the variables as well for usage like screen brightness, is the phone on vibrate, etc?

If you want your phone to drop less then 1% per hour try a car battery instead...
can you connect the note to your car battery?
There is a known issue with the calculation of Android System in 4.0.3:

1% battery drop per hour is normal if you have synching enabled and are on wifi or 3g/4g.

I thought when people talked about the 1% per hour they meant while in use.
My note seems pretty good while on standby but when I use it it tends to drop 1% every ten minutes. I guess my disappointment stems from this being a 2500 mah battery. If I remember correctly my rezound extended battery was around there and lasted forever. I guess I just expected more.

Your cells won't 'break in' and exhibit their best life before a few cycles.
To get the best out of your batteries, fully charge them initially, then run them down to 20%. Always try and charge your battery at 20%, running Lithium cells down flat shortens the life of the electrolyte more than anything except excessive heat.
Once your battery hits 100%, take it off the charger. Modern chargers usually switch to 'trickle' mode or turn off completely at 100%. Trickle charging overnight won't hurt the battery too much, so this second part is optional. Some people will tell you that continually 'topping up' Lithium cells is the best thing for them. While not entirely true, the impact is so minimal as to be negligible.
A mistake a lot of users make is to draw conclusions about battery life within the first week of owning a phone. There's no way your cell has had enough time to 'hit its straps' within a week, unless you're discharging two or three times a day.
Hope these few little hints help!

How long was your screen on? If 1.5 hours or so, I would say your close to normal depending on what you were doing.
Get Better Battery Stats and see how long your phone is in Deep Sleep..and if not very long, you can see what is keeping it awake..

Your pic says the screen took 44% of the power. Consider the signal strength in your school. If you have a weak signal the phone uses more power. Maybe try airplane mode for part of the day. Also, I have found I get better battery life on the network as opposed to my school's wireless. The school's wireless is always polling the phone resulting in greater drain.
Here's the link to Better Battery Stats on XDA... FREE XDA versions are found at the bottom of post #2. I/We don't have your phone so other than general statements we are of little help. well from what i see you have google now or some transit app running. those tend to take up a ton of battery. use the bettery battery stats that someone posted and see whats running. once you find out you can use an app like autostarts to keep stuff like that not running when it doesnt need to.
Also another way to tell whats running is to go to settings > apps > running. if you see a process you dont like running just kill it and try to stop it with autostarts. I know from experience that facebook is one of these pain in the a$$ apps that always wants to be running for some god forsaken reason. Anyway just start with that. thats probably your main problem as i can also see you have juice defender, which is probably helping battery.
There wasn't a download for it; only someone's text information. Does anyone have an APK for it? I don't have the money for it Before school starts tomorrow I'll be sure to kill running apps. Also, I wasn't on the school's Wi-Fi at any point because we don't have Wi-Fi, my high school is poor. Lol

autostart app won't run in foreground so you don't have to kill it. it'll stop access as it needs to based on what you disabled from automatically starting. be careful what you prevent from starting up cause it can defect your setup requiring a fresh flash install
This is my battery life just a few minutes before I posted it yesterday; I took it off the charger at the same time. For some reason yesterday the android system ran much longer than today; the difference is obvious on my battery life.

the 3 best things to do is keeping brightness down/off whenever possible, using better battery stats to monitor partial wakelocks and keeping apps from running too long in the foreground

A good thing to do would be, charge it Friday night, take it off the charger Saturday morning and let it sit on the counter of 1 hour, preferably 2 hours, then check to see what has been waking it up. You can google what you find to determine what process they're related to if not obvious to you.

Battery life so far - moderate usage

My battery life so far. WiFi on while at apartment since I have spotty connection. Used GPS for about 20 min and listened to Pandora for 1.75hrs. Brightness auto at 40%. Using fast dormancy .apk enabled.
I feel like this is pretty good batt life for moderate usage. Maybe this will give some sort of base to someone who feels they have a bad battery.

Basically, as soon as I pulled it out of the box, I drain the battery until it turns itself off, then recharge from there. I do this cycle for at least a full week...drain to empty, charge to full.....I actually did it for about 10 days with this device. Essentially, I treat it like an old ni-cad battery for that first week.
There is absolutely NO science or expertise behind this. I know a lot of people say that lithium batteries don't require it and it doesn't affect it, but its something I do....and it definitely can't hurt.
Except only that it does hurt Li-on and Li-Po batteries
There is an article on battery University about this

Right after I rooted mine I had terrible battery as well. I ended up reformatting (not wipe, actually formatting my system and caches) and then installed my rom again, fixed permissions and my battery life has been amazing. If I don't use the phone my battery maybe drains five percent all day long. If I use it a lot it will last most of the day as well.

The other thing you should check is you fast dormancy.
If you're flashing custom ROMs it's best to do it at a FULL 100% charge. In the past, before I started doing this, I had major battery life "problems." My phone would drop from 100 to 1 in a matter of hours and just hang on 1% for hours on end. If you haven't done this, download Battery Calibration, turn off your device and plug it in. Once it reaches 100%, turn the device on, run the app, and restart your device WHILE STILL PLUGGED IN. Once everything settles you should be good to go.

If you turned the phone on and used it for 30 mins and then idle it for another 5 and 1/2 hours and it died... then something is wrong.
Rouge app causing wake ups 100% of the time?
Battery is a dud?

Download Better Battery Stats and see if you have an app(s) causing wakelocks and not allowing your phone to sleep.

Sounds to me like the NSA is on to you my friend.
From the looks of your screen shot you have alot of things running in the background. Emulator, torrent and media servers drain battery quickly. I can get 2 days with my setup. But if I play words with friends my battery is dead in 4 hours. Some apps are just battery leeches. What Rom n kernel are you running.

Noticed you said you were in the hospital... How is the signal in there? If you have no signal, your battery will drain looking for a signal.
On your battery stats, click on the graph and screen shot so we can see your wake time.

Holy crap you have your screen on alot. What is your screen on time? If you are getting 4 or 5 screen on time, that isn't bad. Looks like your phone sleeps when screen is off which is good. I just think you are killing your battery with on screen time. Most people saying they get 1 to 2 day use don't have the screen on that much. I usually get 5 hours of screen time on 4g. However my 5 hour screen on time spands over 15 hours. Also depends on what you are doing when screen is on... Playing games drain vs checking email for example.

Here is my battery states... Can tell when I got off work and really started playing around with the phone. Was on 4g about 80 percent of the time.

Another app you can try (which) is free, is CPU spy to check if you is staying or stuck in a high speed frequency, say 1600 mhz
