Someone help me understand this - AT&T Samsung Galaxy Note I717

I put in a new fully charged battery and took a nap and after 4 hours of just stand by my phone was down to 95%. I checked badass battery monitor and saw this. Don't really understand it though. It seems this is what was waking my phone keeping it awake.

That's not a big decrease at all if your phone was on for 4 hour just sitting there ..

Check your app manager to see if it constantly running in the background. I tried using a monitor and app killer but I just got too anal and when back to doing everything manually. Check all the variables as well for usage like screen brightness, is the phone on vibrate, etc?

If you want your phone to drop less then 1% per hour try a car battery instead...

can you connect the note to your car battery?

There is a known issue with the calculation of Android System in 4.0.3:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1456265

1% battery drop per hour is normal if you have synching enabled and are on wifi or 3g/4g.

I thought when people talked about the 1% per hour they meant while in use.
My note seems pretty good while on standby but when I use it it tends to drop 1% every ten minutes. I guess my disappointment stems from this being a 2500 mah battery. If I remember correctly my rezound extended battery was around there and lasted forever. I guess I just expected more.

5% discharge in standby mode over a 4 hour period is actually pretty good. I wouldn't be too concerned about it.

Your cells won't 'break in' and exhibit their best life before a few cycles.
To get the best out of your batteries, fully charge them initially, then run them down to 20%. Always try and charge your battery at 20%, running Lithium cells down flat shortens the life of the electrolyte more than anything except excessive heat.
Once your battery hits 100%, take it off the charger. Modern chargers usually switch to 'trickle' mode or turn off completely at 100%. Trickle charging overnight won't hurt the battery too much, so this second part is optional. Some people will tell you that continually 'topping up' Lithium cells is the best thing for them. While not entirely true, the impact is so minimal as to be negligible.
A mistake a lot of users make is to draw conclusions about battery life within the first week of owning a phone. There's no way your cell has had enough time to 'hit its straps' within a week, unless you're discharging two or three times a day.
Hope these few little hints help!

Huge battery drain...

What on earth is draining my battery so bad? On 4 hour charge w/ screen on for a little over 1 hour and i got 47% battery left...display is 77% drain. Is there an app thats draining my batt like mad? Try using CPU Spy to see if you're phone is going into deep sleep properly.
That sounds like you got a bad battery, even if the phone is not sleeping it should last longer than that. I would reset to see if maybe your batt stats got corrupted and if that doesn't do anything see if Sprint will give you another battery to try.

Not bad at all for me. Of course it drops a hell of a lot quicker if you leave the screen on 24/7 but mine will still last 5-6 hours while listening to pandora over bluetooth and with the screen constantly on browsing the web. When not being used constantly it lasts a lot longer.
I have confirmed wakelock, started last night. I'm totally stock, no overclocking or anything.
How do I go about figuring out what's causing it?
Our you could just not use your phone. Then your battery will katy all day.
In all seriousness though, if you haven't already go to settings> wireless & networks> mobile networks & turn off always on data. You won't notice a difference in anything except your battery life will increase. Also, turn off automatic screen brightness & set it somewhere comfortable for you. All that brightness adjusting will drain on the battery. 3D movies, pictures & video will drain it as well. Also as someone else mentioned, check the built in real manager every once in a while. You would be surprised at some of the apps still running in the background even though you haven't used then in a while.
Just a few suggestions. If you have ashley tried all of this then wait until e can flash Roms & Kernels or buy the Seidio monster 4000mah battery.

Mine goes right out of the box and booted and I start playing. A charger or outlet is always handy by me so why wait for it to charge?
I am not going to be concerned with battery life at all... I'm currently coming from the HTC Vivid and comparing the two tests between the phones from Engadget, I'm happy...
HTV Vivid - "In our formal battery rundown test, the Vivid held its charge for a paltry five hours and ten minutes."
AT&T Note - "...with the phone managing eight hours and eight minutes on our standard rundown test in an HSPA+ area."
I've been using my Note heavily for about 11.5 hours today and still have 29% battery life left. I've been watching videos, playing a game or two, tracking the snow that is forecast for my area and my normal texts, email, twitter and Facebook. My Inspire wouldn't last this long with moderate use. I'm pleased with the Note's battery life, but I'm not in an LTE area if that matters much.
no *****in about battery life for at least a few days if not a week... it will not stabilize until the phone has been charged up and drained several times. case in point, i took it right out the box and started using it. started at about 50% battery life and was dead in an hour. charged it up last night and been using it for the last 6 hours pretty heavily and its still at 77%.
it will only get better, be patient my atrix was just as bad out of the box.

Keeping the screen on will dran the battery since that's what screens do.
Regardless of the device (including laptops), screens always take >50% of the battery.

The battery needs to go through a few full cycles of drain and charge before it's reached optimal performance. First week battery drained more but now it's performing brilliantly.
Just keep letting it drain completely and charging fully a few times and have auto brightness selected.

I've heard that li-ion batteries don't suffer from memory issues and there's therefore no reason to calibrate them or run them in any specific charge/discharge cycle.
If you ask 100 different people about how best to use your battery you'll get 100 different answers. Don't worry about it, just enjoy the phone.

Tripe.
Minimum of 3 cycles to reach peak performance. I have flashed hundreds of roms/kernals, it ALWAYS takes a few days for the battery to normalise.
Op, take a chill pill, calm down, post again in a few days. If you're still having drain, it will be down to an app or your settings.

Battery life so far - moderate usage

My battery life so far. WiFi on while at apartment since I have spotty connection. Used GPS for about 20 min and listened to Pandora for 1.75hrs. Brightness auto at 40%. Using fast dormancy .apk enabled.
I feel like this is pretty good batt life for moderate usage. Maybe this will give some sort of base to someone who feels they have a bad battery.

That's normal, 6.5hrs of screen on time with wifi on and the phone being on for about 7.5hrs is good. If you are getting 3-5hrs throughout a day, I myself, consider that fine.

Basically, as soon as I pulled it out of the box, I drain the battery until it turns itself off, then recharge from there. I do this cycle for at least a full week...drain to empty, charge to full.....I actually did it for about 10 days with this device. Essentially, I treat it like an old ni-cad battery for that first week.
There is absolutely NO science or expertise behind this. I know a lot of people say that lithium batteries don't require it and it doesn't affect it, but its something I do....and it definitely can't hurt.
Except only that it does hurt Li-on and Li-Po batteries
There is an article on battery University about this

This guy used all the roms he could get his hands on, and all of them, according to him, had bad battery life.
He doesn't understand his amaze or his battery is faulty, and blames the Rom every time he has bad battery life. He needs to get an iphone or Windows Phone because I doubt he understands Android.
Ah.. didn't even notice who the op was..
I'm not blaming the roms I'm blaming my bad choice of a phone yes I'm blaming myself mainly

Then you need to get a new battery because you clearly have a faulty one. You are the only person on here with a 1 hour battery while everyone else gets 24 on light use.
For what it's worth, this phone seems to eat batteries. I've been through 3, and its not even my daily driver anymore. The processor gets extremely warm, and that in turn gets the battery warmed up too. You can find batteries fairly cheap on Amazon but be careful about which ones you buy.

These guys are a bit unfair with you but you dont help it by saying lol so much. If you get battery like that on fourth bar infusion as well then its definitely your battery. Its not just you with bad battery. Generally the amaze has decent but not good battery life.

Yeah, you should expect battery life on par with a first generation LTE device. If you're going to play on it a lot I would advise a second battery and a charger to keep you going. That's what I had to do when it was my daily. A second battery went with me wherever I was going, no questions asked.

Check this out. .and still have about another full 24hrs before it dies
I had pretty decent battery life when I had the Amaze. As everyone said, it's probably your battery.
I had battery issues as well with the amaze. Even tried the Anker battery with no luck. I've since switched to the HTC One S because of this and am much happier. Good luck with your phone
I'm glad to see someone saying something positive about the One S... I didn't have much good to say about mine the two weeks I had two separate handsets.

Filthygoat - haha its not from an Amaze. It's my Note 2 with a Zerolemon 9300mah battery.

I think it comes down to expectation. I was able to play Inotia 4 for about 6-8 hours in airplane mode while flying.
However, in my home area the signal strength is weak. If I have 4G on, I lose about half of my battery power in about an hour.
(The battery is about 1 year old by now.) I bought a new Anker battery from Amazon. Reportedly it works well with the Amaze.
I'll have to test it out. Though I think in my area the battery life is not going to be too great due to weak signal...
It is ironically much better when I'm traveling.
install greenify from playstore (ensure you have supersu and root first) and you will be fine. my year old dead battery became alive again. also you can use anker battery, combined with greenify the phone can last day and half or more.

Thats crazy.. But the amaze with constant use for me last about 2-3 hours..(just about NONSTOP use). Does seem to drain fast but for the most part theres always somewhere to charge it or your best bet is to just get a second battery like some people have stated. I Love the amaze, Have Energy rom and everything is GREAT for the most part.. battery does go fairly quick though... Not horrible at the same time. But im on my phone alot
