Find My Mobile not working? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Anyone know how to enable "Find My Mobile" on the GT10.1? When i check the box for Remote Controls, it pops up a ID/Password box but I'm only able to enter the password portion. Entering any password whether correct or not gives a "Processing failed" message.
On samsungdive, my account login works just fine.
has anyone been successful?

I'm able to log in at the settings page but I don't know where to go on Samsung's web site to track my phone.

So when you enable "Remote Control", do you get a popup window for ID/Password? If so, can you enter both ID and Password or just Password?

I saw that in your original post but it looked like an autocorrect error. What an odd domain name.
Anyway, I was able to log in. Here are the results...
- Find my mobile: Worked perfectly. Saw my exact location. The Satellite overlay showed the building and my exact location within the building where my Tab is located.
- Track my Mobile: I didn't try it. Assuming that it could find me perfectly I expect it could also track me.
- Ring my Mobile: Mixed results. Yes, it rang my Tab and yes, it played a sound even though I had muted the Tab. However, it played a single "bong" (is that the default ring tone?) only once. It never repeated for the entire minute as promised. If I had lost the Tab and was trying to find it in some other room I'd be very disappointed. My advice, keep the other "find my device" software installed that plays a siren.
- Lock my mobile: Works perfectly. I was using the Tab in an unlocked state and it locked the Tab using the background of the regular lock screen. This is important to me because on the regular lock screen I have my contact information. It asks for the pin that I entered on the SamsungDive site and then unlocked the device.
- Wipe my mobile: Didn't try it. For obvious reasons. But considering everything else worked, I'm going to take a leap of faith and assume this works also.
I'd say I'm 80% satisfied.

Good to hear that it should work. Bad for me that it doesn't.
Anyone else have the same problem as I?

tried Samsung DIVE yesterday and today and it didnt work with the Tab 10.1
it worked fine with my Galaxy S II though

I'm in EXACTLY the same boat as flintdragon, to the letter.

looks like a long dead thread but I thought I would add the current samsung site info
as of 7/7/2013 you can log in to the samsung account site that has things like find my mobile here:::

Found a phone. Any way to bypass lock (without wiping) to find owner?

By setting a lock pattern/pin, you protect your personal information. But it seems if the phone is lost, you've made it impossible for the person who found it, to find you.
I have here a lost Android phone. Now I'm trying to find out who the owner is, however I can't get it unlocked.
My questions is, is there any way to bypass this lock screen without resetting the whole phone?
The official recovery method is to log in to the phones Google account, which I obviously can't do. I'm aware of methods such as booting into recovery, wiping/reflashing etc. but that would wipe out any means of finding the owner.
There's no SD card on this particular model to pop out and look for clues on.
If there's no way around the lock without wiping, then I guess I have to keep the phone .
Take it into one of the retail stores for the carrier and they can return it to the owner. There is a MEID label on most phones (my DX has one under the battery) which identifies the device and can be traced back to the owner by the carrier.
which model is this u are talking about and its a bad bad thing
tell me the model number ... or else check it always pops up the email u can always send email to the owner ...
try posting ur screen by making a screen shot from android sdk method
Nexus S.
Phone has no branding on it, but the sim inside is from 3 mobile. So I assume the phone is from there as well. If it's not, can they still track it.

yes i think they might can track if its kept on... they track it bt nearest phone tower location
they can't trace exact gps location i think bt tracks the local area... u might can get into trouble if u don't reply it to the owner ...
the best option i consider is rush to the nearest 3 mobile outlet if there any in ur area ... don't show them phone jst say u found a sim with this this number (numbers are on top of sim ) and also certain goods of the owner and u want to contact him personally as the artifacts are quite costly
this is the best option
and if there is no number over sim then took the sim itself to the store
good thing to know u wanna return back thanku from my side
i think this is the link for u

or call 3 Care on 133 320
I can't use the SDK, since debugging mode isn't turned on.
But a screenshot isn't really going to help anyway, since all you can see is the pattern lock screen.
I'm not sure what you mean. How do I make their email popup?
i meant that when i forgot my lock pattern once .. i clicked on forgot pattern.. then i send a link to my email id automatcly with few clicks... and at last it poped up a menu saying
"email has been sent to - (My email id) "
can you not connect the phone by usb and access its memory with correct driver?! and if you enter the pattern many times wrong like 17 times i think it will ask you to log into the google Account, maybe there u see the account login and can just send an email from your comp to that address/name.
edit: i just notice kshitij_bhatt said about the same thing

[Q] SGS2 Secret code error: MMI Invalid

So I've been trying to enter some of the 'Secret codes' from this page and have run into a weird problem. Basically some of the codes work (Not very many, IMEI being one that does) but the majority do nothing. The dialer simply sits there and when I then call the number, which I realise shouldn't be necessary, I get an error of Invalid MMI or connection problem.
There have been a significant amount of threads on XDA and the web but the most relevant ones seem to be from Galaxy Nexus owners. This thread for example highlights my problem exactly so it may be something to do with ICS/CM9 that I've overlooked. Another user in the fast dormancy thread also has the same issue so I don't think it's an isolated issue. I've also taken the following steps to try and resolve the issue (Worked for other devices/threads I came across):
- Turn off DTFM tones in Phone - Settings. I don't have this option.
- Turn off touch pad tones. Doesn't work.
- Turn off Speaker phone before entering codes. I don't have this option from within the phone app.
Has anyone else ran into this or know of any solution? Any help would be appreciated
Same here, using official Samsung ROM
It's because you use a custom ROM which does not have the Samsung dialer (or a service linked to this dialer).
In other terms, only Samsung dialer can "read" these secret codes.

Until I began using CM9 recently I only ever used stock based ROMs and couldn't get the codes working. A user above me seems to be the same. Some of the samsung specific codes did work from memory but a vast majority of them didn't. Seems to be hit or miss :/

Thats what i found some work some don't even tried SGS tools etc .
I belive the posted codes came from SGS not SGS2 . Possible a difference ???

I had misread your first post. Sorry. :/
Indeed, if you have one secret code working, it means you use Samsung dialer.
I guess Samsung did not implement all functionalities behind these codes. I don't think there's a workaround, but maybe I'm missing something.

Just to let you know, I have had this issue since day one with CM9 (December). I have read and read and re-read and nothing is working. Afew codes are working, but no more. I have added * and/or # etc.. Nothing work. The best example is the Fast Dormancy one. But others do the same. Some people says its because we don't have stock ICS Dialer. Dont know what to do if you find, pls let me know.

[Q] Pairing Tablet & Phone via Smart Lock

Hi guys, it's moomoomania here. I have a question whether or not it is possible to pair my HTC M9 with my Nexus 9 via bluetooth for smart lock purposes ONLY (just like if I was to have an android watch -which I don't- to bypass my lockscreen). I've looked a million places and I have yet found an answer to my question.
I don't wish to pair it so I can tether internet access to my tablet; I just want to pair my android tablet with my android phone so I don't have to wait for my phone to see my face or do my pattern code.
If anyone has any knowledge or have successfully done it, let me know and I'll give you a huge thumbs up with my butt. Thank you!
you just need to pair them via bluetooth then uncheck "internet access" in the little settings box you can open with the gear icon.

Yes but everytime I do that, I am not able to connect it together. When I go into the Smart Lock settings, and try to apply my Nexus 9 as a trusted device for my M9, it always says "not connected" (at the "Choose device" tab). Do you have this problem or have successfully connected your tablet with your phone without a hitch?
EDIT: If I click the little smart lock notification, it says "Add trusted device? Connect your M9 to keep your phone unlocked". There is only a cancel button.

actually I have the same problem. :') it's been a problem since I updated my phone to lollipop, it was fine before. I think it's probably an AOSP bug since nothing I've ever done has been able to fix it. I wish I had more to add, maybe someone else can chime in.

Verizon Note Edge - Reactivation Lock Problems

Verizon Note Edge - Reactivation Lock Problems (Legit Samsung Account)
Ughh, so I got my Note Edge, Had it unlocked and rooted running ver 6.0.1 (was originally 5.0.1) For some reason it would not allow me to turn off the activation lock even though it was legitimately in my account, I logged into account.samsung.com and verified it. Did a master reset on phone with no help. Next thing I did was delete the samsung account and recreate it. (Probably a huge mistake). When I try to use my account to unlock the phone I keep getting 'processing failed' I have tried every flash and bypass that I've been able to find with no luck at all. I've been dinking with this for over a week now.
Contacted Samsung yesterday and basically got a runaround response from them.
I still have the email stating the device was registered to me with this IMEI but it didn't help any. I have the original simm card and have done everything with simm installed. at first the OTG cable was working but wouldn't still wouldn't let me turn the lock off. Now it won't even pop up file manager when I conect the OTG cable.
I don't care how I get this lock off of here but can someone point me in the right direction for something that is currently working either through samsung or any other alternative means. Am so frustrated at the moment.
Same issue here. Help!!
Man, i cant beleive this isnt possible? I still have the phone sitting here because i have stuff on it i need. Anyone? Any solutions at all? It's not the google lock but the samsung lock.
What helped me with my note edge I found on technocaretricks website it is Samsung account bypass/reset solution for all models. Also watching a quick utube video or 2. (Sorry cudn't post links)
Hope it helps

Locked out of phone by "Find My Device" app

Hey all. I originally posted this in the Mate 9 forum inadvertently but meant to post it here.
My wife and I both have the Mate 10 Pro. She lost hers at work several days ago. I located it using the Find My Device app. I also locked it so nothing in it was compromised just in case she didn't find it. She ends up finding the phone and can't unlock it. She brings it home for me to take a look at and I notice that I can't even input the whole password before it shows up as invalid. Apparently the input limit is 16 characters and the password I used when locking it remotely was 17 characters. I offered to factory reset it for her but she said no because she has a bunch of pictures on there she doesn't want to lose. Basically, her cloud photo storage is full and the last month and a half of pictures haven't been backed up. Is there anything I can do to at least retrieve her photos?
Has it ever been connected to a PC and ADB permission granted? If so connect to same pc and pull the content you want to back up. Otherwise it might be a question for Google. Also factory reset may not work in it's locked state due to recent Android anti theft measures.
Sent from my HUAWEI ALP-L29 using XDA Labs
Thanks for the reply. The only time it's ever been connected to a PC was using HiSuite to back up the phone before a factory reset a few months ago. I just feel bad and was hoping to fix it. I did post up a question on the Google help forum and haven't received a response. I guess I'll just give it several more days and if I can't figure out a resolution, I'll just factory reset the phone and see if I can at least get her phone back to her. I don't think she cares for the battery life of my old HTC 10... Thanks again.
If the password is too long then make her request a password change bro it's common sense.
I appreciate the input. I will try again when I get home but I'm almost positive you can only set the password one time through the "Find My Device" app. Once it's set, there is no changing it.

I think It uses the same password as the google account that locked it. also try to log in on another phone or computer and try to see if you can unlock it, also the limit is 100Characters for google password So I don't think that's the problem.

So, just for the sake of clarity, I'll explain in more detail. My wife never uses a screen lock or password on her phone. When I "secured" the device using the Find My Device app, I put in a password to lock it. That password is 17 characters long. When the phone boots up, it asks for a password. The problem is, the phone will not allow me to input more than 16 characters. I tried truncating the password and that doesn't work either. I've tried her google password and it's a no-go. I've tried connecting it using the HiSuite software but the software doesn't see the phone. I've asked on the google help forums and haven't received any response.
Currently, my wife is using an old phone and I'm trying to find a workaround. Using the Find My Device app right now and it doesn't see the phone, so there is no option to relock with a different password (don't think that is possible anyway).
I have tried to do the same thing on my phone now and it is asking for the unlock PIN, the same PIN what I use after restarting the phone.
So, I can not believe that your phone does not accept that PIN/password because the password can be up to 32 characters long.

yea something seems fishy here OP must have stole it or found the phone and the real owner have it locked it, so there's "supposedly" his wife is the owner of the phone she is the one who locked it first so I don't see the problem with her unlocking it because to lock it it must be done from a computer or a different phone.

Thanks for the accusation. You sound like a fun person to be around. I, me, myself, locked the phone through "Find My Device". I only did that because she did not have any type of screen lock/password/PIN on the phone. Once the phone was rebooted, "Find My Device" couldn't even locate the phone again. As far as the other comments about password length, all I can say is I locked the phone with a password (using my computer) that was 17 characters long and when typing said password into the phone, as soon as I hit the 16th character, the phone said invalid password. Apparently I'm not the only person that's had this issue...

To everyone else, I appreciate the help. I just ended up wiping it. My "wife" isn't too mad at me. Just lost a bunch of pictures of our kiddo.
