auto correct on the sgs2? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

i cant seem to turn on auto correct, i tried activating the x9 predective text, but no luck.
Any ideas?

how strange it should work. Mine works just fine, you can even redefine words and add them such as apotrophies (excuse my spelling) like: im ==> I"m or Im ==> I'm ive ==> I've or Ive ==> I've. and so on.

Just tried, switched to the Samsung Keypad and turned on XT9. And it worked. Fixed up my "fishss" to "fishes" for me. A list of suggested words also popped up on the top like how it does on the Swype keyboard. Which keyboard are you using?

Im using the ddfault keyboard.
Should i try reinstalljng the rom? <<- see it didnt changd.

Keyboard issues with "I"

I have an issue with the gingerbread keyboard on Checkrom V4. Whenever I'm typing, if I press the "I" key it will insert the last full word I typed about 3/4 of the time. Sometimes I can delete the word and type an "I" ok, sometimes it will keep inserting it over and over. It only does it on CheckROM and only on the gingerbread keyboard I download from the kitchen. Anybody got any ideas why it does this or how to fix it?
TIA.
Edit: Guess I should've mentioned that it only does this when typing I by itself. It works fine if the I is in a word. Also, this is the 3rd time I've used checkrom and had this issue, with cm7, cm9, and several other ROMs flashed in between.
Sooo, any suggestions? I know this isn't a big problem but it is hella annoying.

Check the keyboard advanced setting and remove any word replacement or suggestion options.
Hope this helps!

I've actually tried that and it stopped my problem but it also turns off all other auto correct. I have no idea what's causing this but it drives me nuts just cause I can't figure it out. It also only does it on checkrom but other samsung-derived roms are fine.

try uninstalling the gbkeyboard and reinstalling it.. also you could try 'slideit' or 'swiftkey x' keyboards.. these are also nice!

I went ahead and tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but it didn't help. I have tried most of the other popular keyboards and I just really like the gingerbread keyboard. I know I'm being kinda picky here and maybe it's something I'm doing, but it's bugging me more just because I can't figure it out.

I never thought to try that before so I just added "I" to the dictionary. I'll see if that helps.
Thanks all for the suggestions/help.

Swype keyboard problem

Has anyone else noticed that while using the Swype keyboard it us not possible to enter numbers in payment fields on the internet?
Example: I go to transfer money from one bank account to another. Where I enter the dollar amount i can not input numbers unless I switch keyboards, but I can put in other characters.
This being said, I am able to enters numbers into other areas with my Swype keyboard "1234567890"...see? It works here, so why not where I'll actually use it? Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Looks pre-loaded... what app is this happening in?
It happens in any "fields" where you enter a dollar amount like on ebay or my banks website...etc.

Do you mind checking to see if the same thing happens with yours? Thank you.

Not a problem for me, but i'm on a custom ROM, so browser/android version/swype version is likely different. Are you rooted? Why note install the beta? It's probably more up to date than what you're using.
I uninstalled the version that came with the phone and downloaded the beta. It installed the tablet version of Swype, which had a different configuration and smaller keys in portrait mode.
I tested the issue you described and I don't have it. I can enter numbers fine in Ebay fields. The tablet version automatically switched to a number pad actually.
Yeah, I'm rooted and OCed thanks to DA_G's threads.
I think I'll try out the tablet version. Thanks guys.

Thanks for reminding me to try this out. I find Swyping a with the S Pen to be really convenient and fast. Almost faster than my finger I think.

Freezing it via TBU would be the best way to do that.
(you'll need root)

Thanks, i like new swype beta, and yellow on it looks better than blue to me.
Just installed Swype beta but I think the keyboard is a bit too small for me. Any idea on how to get the non-tablet version?

*SOLVED* Keyboard ease of use icon while typing

Anyone find a way to remove this annoying icon. I got it off one stock ICS leak, but now with a debloated rom and the addition of the ICS keyboard, it appears you can only have one keyboard installed in order to not see this icon. Thoughts?
*EDIT*
So it seems renaming the AxT9IME.apk to AxT9IME.bak solves this annoying icon issue.
It still shows up even though I renamed that and rebooted. Hmmm.

Which keyboard are you using. If you have a market kb installed you need to disable the ics keyboard as well. I am using ICS, so disabling the Samsung keyboard fixed it.
I'm using tablet Swype beta. I'll try disabling the stock one
Edit: that did the trick, thanks!

Stock keyboard Y and Z the wrong way round

Hi all
Upon my first rom try which I didn't like I've tried to put back on a stock rom but the Y and Z are the wrong way round on the keyboard. I have made sure that English UK is selected and have tried 3 different rims and roms and done a data wipe each time so I'm all out of ideas
Thanks In advance

Check your keyboard settings. It's buried in there.
In GB, it's:
Settings > Samsung keypad > Portrait keypad types
Make sure your desired keypad (either Qwerty or Qwertz) is selected.
EDIT to add: if that doesn't happen to work, see this.
Weirdly there is no qwertz in the menu there at all. I did think it had something to do with csc. not that I know what that is yet. ill try this other way thanks and thank you SwiftKey for adding the "and rims" to the last part lol

[Q] I9100XXLS8 BIG problem

Please help me to solve A BIG problem I have.
My Samsung SII was automatically updated to the new android version Jelly Bean (I9100XXLS8). Ever since the update when i'm in the menu section of the phone, it speaks back ("Page 1 of 4, page 2 of 4 etc). This only happens when I flick through the menu pages. It still talks back when the phone is on silent or vibrate. I have tried the accessibly section already - talk back is not switched on. I have tried switching talk back on and off to see if that works and it doesn't. I have tried looking at the google voice section with no luck. It's driving me crazy - anyone know any ways to get rid of it?
EDIT: NoLED aplication was the problem.
Have you tried uninstalling talkback?
