Keyboard issues with "I" - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have an issue with the gingerbread keyboard on Checkrom V4. Whenever I'm typing, if I press the "I" key it will insert the last full word I typed about 3/4 of the time. Sometimes I can delete the word and type an "I" ok, sometimes it will keep inserting it over and over. It only does it on CheckROM and only on the gingerbread keyboard I download from the kitchen. Anybody got any ideas why it does this or how to fix it?
TIA.
Edit: Guess I should've mentioned that it only does this when typing I by itself. It works fine if the I is in a word. Also, this is the 3rd time I've used checkrom and had this issue, with cm7, cm9, and several other ROMs flashed in between.

Sooo, any suggestions? I know this isn't a big problem but it is hella annoying.

I've actually tried that and it stopped my problem but it also turns off all other auto correct. I have no idea what's causing this but it drives me nuts just cause I can't figure it out. It also only does it on checkrom but other samsung-derived roms are fine.

try uninstalling the gbkeyboard and reinstalling it.. also you could try 'slideit' or 'swiftkey x' keyboards.. these are also nice!

Solution no as its not a keyboard i use anymore .

check if you can learn your dictionary...

I went ahead and tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but it didn't help. I have tried most of the other popular keyboards and I just really like the gingerbread keyboard. I know I'm being kinda picky here and maybe it's something I'm doing, but it's bugging me more just because I can't figure it out.

I never thought to try that before so I just added "I" to the dictionary. I'll see if that helps.
Thanks all for the suggestions/help.

Has anybody tried flashing the gingerbread keyboard on to their MT4G?
I flashed it, but every time i go to press a key, i get a FC telling me "(process com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectedly."
Has this happened to anyone else? is there any way to fix it? thank you for any help =)
theres a thread going on about it here (same problem):

virtually identical and better than the stock touch input keyboard hands down!

I download that keyboard and am loving it. The developer also made a free gingerbread theme too that works pretty well. I think the developer name is Stevey Lin...not sure, not by the phone right now.

Built in screenshot

Ok so ive someone else post about this before just canteen remember if it was on another forums or not.
Ok so earlier today i was messaging someone and i was trying to get out the message screen but my phone was taking too long or i was just impatient but anyway i kept hitting the home button then i hit the back button and all of a sudden i heard a shutter sound. Sooooo i went into my gallery and there it was a seperate folder just for "screenshots" and mind you i do have the shoot me app and the folder for that is "shoot me". Has anyone else ever experienced this? I thought it was so cool that there is/was a built in screenshot but just wish i knew how to do it again i was so excited!!

I've experienced this 2 times, I searched everywhere in how to do it, but people keep saying they didn't on accident, we need a dev to answer this question

this happened to me a few days ago, as well. thought it was a hidden TW bionix-v function. I tried a number of different key presses to no avail. somebody has to know what the deal is, right?
Seen this alot here but no one can seem to remember what they did to make it happen...its weird..
Lmao happen 3 times to me to smh

I posted this same question in the axura beauty thread. I thought it was a special addition to the axura rom. I found out that its not a rom special but its actually an android feature, only problem I haven't got an actual answer on how to access this feature nor do I know what to look for. I have googled this several times and all I get are results telling me about drocap or shootme and how to use the ddms in order to screenshot without root.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I know for a fact how to do this. I don't think you can force a screenshot with any soft touch keys but you'll notice the screenshot goes off when you're exiting an app/browser and the system freezes up briefly and when you try to hit home on the frozen screen it takes the screenshot. It's happened to me on a few occasions and I distinctly told myself to remember what was happening when the screenshot goes off and turns out it always goes off when my screen is frozen and I hit my home key, while thinking my back button wasn't registered and in fact, was registered and I just got impatient and hit my home button.
I've got a feeling it's a bug log kind of thing. Every post I've seen about it mentions that the phone locked up, and the user pressed buttons rapidly. Sure, we can take Screenshots! You have to have a crashing app to do it though.
This topic has been covered soooo many times not only here on XDA but google.

If you have a vibrant running stock froyo.ka6 you can try this screen capture app from the market:

The only one that does NOT require rooting.

Hmmmm it seems like StevenJCarney might be correct. Like he said it seems like it happens when peoples phones lock up & it could be a bug.
Hope it isnt a bug & someone is able to figure it out.
Same exact thing here. It really sucks an app has to crash to use it.

Yeah, I got it working...I do not have miui on my phone now, but I think if you go to settings, then whatever the middle tab is. Down there should say something about 3rd party phone calls or something like that. Make sure it is off. Then try

Swype cursor and the letter W

Is anyone else totally annoyed with the Swype cursor mover covering the W when the keyboard opens? You can't use it until the damn thing goes away. Usually only takes 3-4seconds but it's still annoying. Anyone know how to make it not come up at keyboard open?
If you hit the backspace button it goes away but yeah it is annoying. That's one of the few reasons why I don't use swype any more.
Sent from my SGH-I777 using xda premium
Well hitting backspace makes it somewhat more tollerable. Never knew that would make it go away faster. Thanks!

When using Swype as your keyboard, when the keyboard originally pops up, it has a blue trapezoid shape that you use to move the cursor around. Where it sits is covering the W. So if I want to start with any word that starts with W, I have to wait a few seconds for it to disappear and is annoying.

Its just the way that swype is. I used to use it all the time on my Atrix and it would drive me nuts. I don't know if there is a fix for it unfortunately.

Are you using the current beta version? (3.26.92D.37604.t0.7207.ENSP) I just checked out this issue cause I had it before with the older version of the beta, and it seems to be gone.

You can go to http://beta.swype.com/ to sign up.
Before you install you will have to use Titanium Backup to uninstall the current version of Swype (you can make a backup if you would like)
After you sign up you should get an email that says ur in with a link to download swype installer.
*edit* Also make sure in Settings>Applications that Unknown Sources is Checked that way you can download and install the installer. *edit*

[BROKEN] [Stock ICS W/ TouchWiz Deodexed] - Working HW Buttons and Calling.

*EDIT So many are having the FC issues, I am pulling it for now.
Sorry I guess 3 phones tested was not enough.
Will try to work out the kinks and get it back up soon.
I didn't do anything here except include Fennys new Phone APK and Qwerty KB fix. All the Kernel work is Fenny.
Thanks to Vlara and Howtomen for Putting the rom together with Fennys new Kernel which inclues the HW button fix.
Thanks also to Vlara for Deodexing.
The screen wake issue has yet to be resolved.
Other than that everything seems to be working fine.
All of Samsungs Bloatware is still there, including TouchWiz.
To adjust the Keyboard to the QWERTY android version from the QWERTZ Samsung Version, goto Language and Input, select Default, then English (US) Android Keyboard.
There is an issue with the kernel right now where you have to manually hash your restores, or they will not work.
Thanks again to FennyFatal, Vlara, and Howtomen!

Force Close
Unable to use this ROM, set up fc's on Phone and Messaging constantly making set up impossible.
Skipping set up and going straight to the phone didnt help either. Any action (open an app, settings etc) is receive with "Phone has stopped responding" or "TWLauncher has stopped responding".
Can not hold a cell or wifi signal.
Flashed twice, same results each time.
Can we get a new phone.apk?
I can't get pass the "Galaxy SII" boot screen... :-(
How do you extract the kernel? I think its just the flash image and z image right?
