Works perfectly for me now. Thanks a lot. I thought it was the other way around, 3rd party apps needed to be on.

Where did you find that? So you got GVoice working with MIUI?

Yeah, I got it working...I do not have miui on my phone now, but I think if you go to settings, then whatever the middle tab is. Down there should say something about 3rd party phone calls or something like that. Make sure it is off. Then try

Thanks for setting this straight.
DISABLING "Third-party Acess" did the trick.
You can find it under Settings>Programs>Calls.

Since rooting ....

Since I rooted my notifications automatically set to silent whenever and i can no longer set the fonts. Anyone else? Any idea how to fix?

Turn the volume up and you can not use fonts with lag fix.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Volume isn't the issue. The phone will reset my notifications. I'll set a sound and a fwe hours later they are all set to silent. Only the ringer and alerts stick
Perhaps it's an app like Timeriffic that's causing it. Check your apps that could possible change the settings, if not, then you could always just make everything stock and do it over again.

Adjustable auto bright hack?

Wondering if anyone knows where I can obtain a utility or hack to adjust the automatic brightness settings? In a dark or dim room, the brightness on auto is much higher than I need.
There were a few hacks available for windows smartphones to do this, but I haven't found any for Android/HTC. Found one specifically for the droid-x but don't think it works for us.
Been wondering on something like this also
Sent from my PG06100 using XDA Premium App
CM7 has options to fine tune how auto brightness works.
^ Shift Faced
confirmed to work for me. I've adjusted mine in CM7 just the way I like.
Question to somebody else who has done it. Is it showing 1 colum having -1 on the buttons box? I noticed only one setting I cant turn off the 4 bottom lights because it doesnt let you change the -1 to a 0...
is there any guides i could read on how to set it all up? i have no idea what everything mean in that menu.

I'm right along with you. I just looked at it and then slowly backed out because I didn't want to mess anything up and I'm usually all for pressing buttons to see what happens.

I'll bump for this as well. I've always wanted to understand how to adjust the auto brightness in CM7, but I've searched around and haven't found any info on it.

Keyboard issues with "I"

I have an issue with the gingerbread keyboard on Checkrom V4. Whenever I'm typing, if I press the "I" key it will insert the last full word I typed about 3/4 of the time. Sometimes I can delete the word and type an "I" ok, sometimes it will keep inserting it over and over. It only does it on CheckROM and only on the gingerbread keyboard I download from the kitchen. Anybody got any ideas why it does this or how to fix it?
TIA.
Edit: Guess I should've mentioned that it only does this when typing I by itself. It works fine if the I is in a word. Also, this is the 3rd time I've used checkrom and had this issue, with cm7, cm9, and several other ROMs flashed in between.
Sooo, any suggestions? I know this isn't a big problem but it is hella annoying.

I've actually tried that and it stopped my problem but it also turns off all other auto correct. I have no idea what's causing this but it drives me nuts just cause I can't figure it out. It also only does it on checkrom but other samsung-derived roms are fine.

try uninstalling the gbkeyboard and reinstalling it.. also you could try 'slideit' or 'swiftkey x' keyboards.. these are also nice!

Solution no as its not a keyboard i use anymore .

check if you can learn your dictionary...

I went ahead and tried uninstalling and reinstalling again, but it didn't help. I have tried most of the other popular keyboards and I just really like the gingerbread keyboard. I know I'm being kinda picky here and maybe it's something I'm doing, but it's bugging me more just because I can't figure it out.

I never thought to try that before so I just added "I" to the dictionary. I'll see if that helps.

[Q] SMS limit

I'm a youth pastor and send texts to around 80 students about events and things we are doing. I send mass texts to them quite often and the most annoying thing I've run into is the SMS hour limit. I can't remember if it's 100 or 160 but either way after I surpass that number within an hour (only two mass texts to my students) I then see a popup warning after every individual text. I then have to manually click yes after each warning or my messages never send. I found this thread but it doesn't seem to work...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=626771
Any suggestions?

Google Voice supports mass sms
Wow I had no idea there was a limit and I text a lot. Is this carrier specific I wonder?
Sent from my SGH-I777 using Tapatalk 2
Mass texting is not the problem. There is a setting embedded in the Android OS that makes a warning popup after you reach a certain number of texts PER HOUR. It is not carrier specific it is within the Android OS settings. any other ideas?
Hmmmmm. Very interesting. I don't have the slightest clue.

I'll screenshot the next time it happens. I'm always running the most current version of tasks' AOKP ROM.

If you read the thread I linked in my OP it seems that it is a system warning and not carrier or ROM based.

I read it, i was just stating that it must be reachable either in the framework.jar or somewhere else in the system files.

S Voice not working, won't always speak ???

S voice doesn't always want to talk, and yes Voice Prompt is turned on.
Does anyone know what the problem is?
Same with driving mode text to speech, wont always talk. I've installed the voice synthesis software, what is wrong?
Anyone else having this issue?

Same behavior here.
I call it the Vlingo Disaster. This S-Voice bs was just as buggy on Epic Touch (sgs2 for Sprint). It's just a buggy piece of crapware.

There was a fix for GB roms for Epic Touch - replace the vlingo.apk (or something like that, don't remember exact name) with a google voice dialer app (name the same as the one being replaced). I wonder if it still works...

@nabbed, how would changing the name of an app before install (which would fail on a lot of apps) help, when the app is installed, svoice will not use that just because it was named what the original app file was named, dosnt work that way.

Sorry, I forgot to add a link, please look again, and read that OP in that thread I linked to.... But like I said, just because you change the name of an app, dosnt mean its called upon by svoice. Now if you unistall vlingo it will use what ever you have installed, no matter what the name of the app is....... Now onto why other apps won't work when the name is changed, well the problem there would be the checks made by the installer to see if anything was messed with, verification checks. That's not true on most google apps, but paid apps, well you may have an issue if you change the name. Just giving some clarification is all.

I'm confused at both people above
Any other suggestions?....
Again, S Voice works, as in it listens to me and searches for what I ask, but about 90 percent of the time she fails to talk back to me.
For example I'll say set alarm, maybe one in 10 times she will respond spoken, the other 9 times she stays quiet. The phone is not on mute, voice prompt is turned on.
