[Q] QPST + Photon 4G instructions? - Motorola Photon 4G

So after messing with this thing for a few hours tonight I cannot for the life of me figure out how to get all the ports to end up between 1-10 and want to slam my head on my computer desk.
Just wondering if Motorola did something funny because it uses like 5 ports, maybe 4 I think, I dunno it's late. So if anyone has a tutorial or would like to make one that would be super cool. Thanks
-DJ

If you look at the thread labeled diag mode I posted instructions on this. I'll make a tutorial later today. I've just been lazy.

I've looked at that but I can't get the ports to work, I can never get all four ports to end up within the 1-10 range. Using windows 7 x64. I sware I thought there was a way one of my IT instructors told me you could relocate some used ports to other open ports.
Also, say one of the phone ports says it is on com 8, when I go into qpst config and ad that port, it will say that the port is busy....
If you could address this issue in your tut I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Also, since one of the modems we connect to says something something lte does that mean these phones are capable of running on the lte network from verizon?

The port should show automatically and you shouldn't have to add it manually.

Hacking a phone

Is it possible to hack a phone just by hooking up a phone to a usb port and the person doing the hacking never touching the computer (maybe automated)?
I know this is an off the wall question but a friend of mine said she hooked up her phone to one of her friends usb port and he hacked the phone and got all of her information including deleted files. She says he never touched the computer or got near her phone. She is not rooted and is using an S3.

Wouldn't USB debugging have to be enabled on her device?

[Q] Help! Cannot Connect Phone to PC via USB

Hello All,
Here it is, charges fine, but will not connect as a storage device or for adb, etc. What ive tried...
3 different cables, 1 of which is HTC
3 Different computers (2x Win8, 1x Win7) - 1 of each which had never had phone plugged in
Many different roms
USB Debug is On
Ive installed various drivers, uninstalled various software, cannot get it to behave.
Sometimes the USB icon is in my status bar when im not plugged in, sometimes when im plugged in the icon doesnt appear.
When it does selecting htc sync or disk drive seem to have no effect.
NOTHING in device manager, no unknown, no other, no android device...not a thing to show its connected other then the LED light on the phone.
Im beginning to wonder if its my phone. I was s-off via lazy panda. I have since used Viper's RUU but by taking the rom.zip and renaming it PJ75IMG.zip and loading that from bootloader. Seems to have flashed stock although i still show s-off but locked.
Any help would be great
Had same problem. Ended up having to take it on for replacement.

I agree. This happened to me because of what I believe was a faulty charger. I think it shorted it out.
Try mounting usb in recovery.

I had, wont mount from twrp or from bootloader. Hit mount button and nothing happens.
If u install WiFi file transfer pro from playstore then u won't need to transfer files via cable. Does wireless adb work? Haven't tried it, but it would be the only thing u need your cable for. As long as it charges right.
Just an idea so u won't necessarily have to take your phone in to be replaced. Good luck

I appreciate it, but afaik to be able to root it ill need to be able to directly connect it. Plus it should just work. It used to but hasnt for a while. I thought maybe it was just my ROM but im beginning to think its a bigger issue. I have to check the best buy policy and see how they take care f it.

Possible Brick, can anyone help?

So my friends HTC Evo LTE won't turn on since last night. It was quite random he just reached for it and saw it wasn't booting. Hard reset and none of that stuff works and it is only recognized when it is connected to his PC but the drivers show up as something weird like QHLOD or something similar. So what do you guys think his options are. Should he go directly to Sprint and try for a replacement even though he doesn't have TEP?
Thanks

Samsung galaxy nexus isn't recognized by win 7

I upgraded to Windows 7 on an older laptop. I plug my phone in and it doesn't recognize anything. I thought win 7 would pickup the driver automatically but I guess not. I tried rebooting the laptop and phone
do I need a driver? Android adb or sdk is it?

Just USB Debugging needs to be checked, make sure your plugging your phone into a USB 2.0 port as USB 3.0 can give you problems. Also if you have a different computer try that as well.

I installed the driver for schi515. When I rebooted my phone I heard the sound it makes when it's connecting and disconnecting. It started auto installing a driver for OMA0444 I think it was, then the download failed. I don't know where that came from or what it is? I recently added a new hard drive and Win7
Under device manager, "other device" toggles between showing OMAP, and not even showing "other devices"
Not working on my pc either. Usb port needs replacing. Previously I was able to transfer files to my pc, but it looks like that ability has been lost.
Will replacing my Usb port erase my phone?

One more thing I would recommend taking a look at is this thread as the person manged to find a solution similar to the problem you are having. As far as replacing your USB port, replacing it will not (Should not whenever your modify any electronics risk of data loss is always a possibility) erase your phone.

What size screwdriver are you looking for? As the Torx screws on phones can vary greatly sometime, which size torx screw driver do you need?
That's my question. What size do I need? I need to remove the back so I can replace the USB port.

Is it possible for you to post a picture of the screws, I might be able to identify which screws they are from a picture.

Just took at look at the Samsung Galaxy Nexus Teardown guide on iFixit and yes it is a small Philips head screwdriver that is listed for the screws. When doing the teardown I would recommend taking a look at there guide that I linked to.

Thank you. I used a steak knife for 4 of the screws but the other two were in tighter and I wasn't going to mess with stripping it...off to home depot! Thanks again
