Which screen protector - HTC EVO 3D

I'm currently using zagg screen protector on my 3vo and it doesn't really feel smooth. I wanted to know which protector ya are using to see if I might change

Try these.

Best one hands down.

I used Ghost Armor on my evo 4g and just put it on my 3d and love it, much better then zagg (smoother) and they send you 2 of them, and if those get messed up they will send you new ones (you pay shipping on new ones, thats it, but you have to send your used ones back w/ supplied delivery method)

Im using the Zaggs smudge finger print resistant version and i like it.

im using SGP antifingerprint/antiglare

I'm using seidio ultimate screen guard. I had it on my evo 4g and liked it. I had the zagg on my 3vo at first but it was too sticky for me. The seidio screen guard is a lot smoother and goes on easily with no bubbles. I recommend it.

Boxwave crystal screen protectors
And boom goes the Shooter...

I also have the seidio but my experience with the application was far different. I guess its possible I got a bad one but there were specs on the back which became air bubbles which I can't remove. I have installed many screen protectors like this one but never had this much trouble. Unfortunately Seidio doesn't stand behind these.

On my original Evo 3D device I had a Zagg Invisibleshield on it. But, after I got a new phone I tried a screen protector simlar to the one in the ebay ad above. Although the actual screen protector I'm using now covers the entire screen, is really smooth, and came with a plastic clamshell case (that I'm not using).
The screen protector and plastic clamshell case are made by Beyond Cell.
Goodluck with whatever you choose...

had zagg no smudge protector, then switched to zagg regular. Smudge proof protector made screen look a bit cloudy to me. good luck on your search!

SGP Ultra Crystal are my favorite.

I've tried 4 different brands now, each has had it's own drawback.
Cloudy, gritty feeling, not as clear, some were "rubbery", some peeled up on the edges, one even smudged more than the glass.
In the end, I went back to just the plain screen, none were as ever as nice as the plain glass was.
I'll just have to be careful with my screen.

Just don't use the Sprint's store stock screen protector. The regular (glare) one had WAYYY too much reflection that I couldn't see anything. The non-glare one was a lot easier to read however it def. took away the quality of the screen. White seems to have rainbow crystals in them.
I'm also looking for a new screen protector now.

Why use a screen protector? I never get scratches unless i drop it.
Every screen protector ruins the screen quality more then even some small scratches and the glass on the Evo 3d is even stronger than on my Desire witch still looks great after more than a year with no protection at all.

No screenprotect is the way to go. Best feeling and experience

I pulled the zagg off of my Evo 4G for 2 months, and never have had one on my pre launch 3D. Both still have perfect screens. Raw dog is the way to go. They have gorilla glass, its very tough.

Was gonna mention this, the EVO 3d officially has gorilla glass which has a hardness rating of 7 I believe so unless you are always around sand/quartz or anything with a hardness rating above 7 like crushed diamonds all the time then you are fine going naked

Oleophobic screen protectors..

Are they worth getting?? I'm currently using matte screen protectors and hate how they make the screen look. A bit distorted and pretty obvious looking. Anyone care to share their experience with them??

So, tell us what you got, where you bought it and how easy was it to install.
Purchased on amazon.
Took me two tries to get it perfectly positioned onto the phone. Looks great, feels great! Tried many other screen protectors (both wet and dry) and this has to be the best one to date. Comes in a pack of two as well. And you cant go wrong with the reviews. Havent posted a review on amazon yet but i will soon

Oleophobic is an anti-fingerprint technology used on screen protectors and display panels. Theyll pretty much give you the same anti-fingerprint results as you would on the gnex. Gnex is the only phone i know that currently uses a Oleophobic screen panel. Try a gnex and see for yourself. I had one so i can actually say from experience that the stuff does work

I bought these and never could get one installed. I gave up.
I can't get the realook ones installed either. I have millions of bubbles. Any advice? I installed it in the bathroom, sprayed water, etc etc and still have bubbles.
Check out the halo screen protectors on amazon.. They're pretty cheap - i think 6 bucks for a pack of 3. Pretty easy dry install and looks great..

I admit that they were a bit difficult to to properly position them onto the screen. Theyre cut exactly the same size as the screen. I have steady hands so it didnt tale me long at all. Just a little tip, i started applying the screen protector from left to right insteat of from top to bottom. I also held the phone upside down to avoid any debris. I did get a half bubble near the front camera

This Stuff is Crap . I have it on for about 1 week and now scratches are everywhere (phone is well taken care, always in Jean pocket with no keys, no card, nothing ).
RealLook is GREAT. I regretted that I didn't get it in the first place. RealLook has been on my Samsung Vibrant for over 1 year and there are very few scratches here and there but not noticeable when the screen is on.
I installed the Reallook scren protector last night and it took me a very long time to get it bubble free. It's cut to the exact dimensions of the actual screen so if you are even slightly off alignment, then the film will sit elevated off the Rezound's glass resulting in bubbles.
Having said that it doesn't appear to be any different in composition than the 3 pack scren protector that Verizon sells in their store. This is particularly disappointing since it doesn't resist fingerprints as advertised. Reallook suffers from oily smudges from use although when installed properly, it is very clear and feels smooth like glass.
I will probably keep this on for the time being, but when I have a chane I will return to using the water based films from Bestskinever. Those tend to resist smudges better IMHO.

I go naked how about you?

I had probably around 8devices in the last few years, I didn't use a case till iPhone 4 meaning my evo 4g was always naked and never got scratches, besides the kickstand, idk why I keep buying cases I always end up having the phone naked, they look way better the way(maybe the galaxy nexus did look really good with sgp case) how about you? Do you go naked or no? You think you might drop it?
Sent from my htc_jewel using Tapatalk 2
I start off with an otterbox defender for the 1st 6 months & then go naked once I've proven to be very careful with it.
I fear dropping this though .vs the other 2 EVO's & I'm not sure why... The new factor maybe?

I have never owned a case for my phones and when I traded in the OG, it looked 9/10. However, this one has already had the Commuter Otter put on her. Not an if, but when I would drop her naked.
Smartphones are too slippery for me without a case!

When I get a new phone I use a TPU case and when I get tired of the tpu I start to go naked..... I am usually good with not dropping phones....
Honestly, I find that when I have a case on I don't drop it, when I don't I do...so I have the htcpedia one that came out before the phone, nice fit by the way.
As for the screen its the same deal, I had an epic and went naked for almost a year and ended up with those tiny hair scratches that seem to come from nowhere and drive me batty! So sgp ultra crystal on the way to save my sanity.
Bottom line, used to go naked but not anymore, although I reserve the right to change my mind as I know I will lol

Yea I go naked otherwise I'll use ghost armor...but that's still more or less naked...I feel if the phone company's wanted to make their phones bigger then they would but they made it thin for a reason and cases ruin that(IMO)...and I tend to be overly cautious with my phones
I've got get naked right now but I'll probably buy a case for it because it is slick, I don't do screen protectors anymore though, my old Evo didn't get scratches and with gorilla glad this one shouldn't either. The main reason I got a case for my old Evo was to keep the camera from laying against things and getting scratched but this new camera, even though it protrudes a Lil the lens is recessed so it should be fine. I may keep it naked.

I would love to go naked, but I can't. When I first got the phone I had no case on it and it was so nice. But because of what I do for a living, one bad day = no more nice looking phone.
But the two cases I have are very slender and don't my phone bulky like the otterboxes do.

I go with a TPU case just for grip and a occasional drop and normal wear and tear. I used screen protector couple times and I hated them I love the feel of glass. Also I'm not sure how people are getting scratches one their screens. I had 3 phones with gorilla glass and that 1 of them got scratches.

I decided to go naked on this one. Used to buy cases but the bulk is just too annoying sometimes. Try the Spigen screen protectors, no rubbery feeling at all.
The ghost armor screen protectors are pretty nice, no rubbery feeling, no grainy look from the anti glare screen protectors... I'd recommend that
i like to go raw too, but not with the lte.
Always naked as far as a case goes. I do have an XO Skin on the screen and glossy back, though. I learned my lesson with my E3D, when I dropped it on the pavement screen down and it slid maybe 3 inches or so.
I only dropped and damaged my OG EVO once. I put a nice little ding on the edge, but other than that, it looks practically brand new. I always had a screen protector on my old EVO and never bought a case for it. The screen protector saved me a few times.
I'll eventually get a case for my LTE, but I'm just waiting for something I deem worth buying. Perhaps a nice silicon, something with a thin rubber padding, I'd like a case that provides a little bounce incase I drop it. The glass is so close to the edge on the LTE, I can just imagine the aluminium siding sending shock waves through the phone and exploding the screen into a million tiny pieces.
On that note, this is my first phone with Gorilla Glass, so I honestly don't even know if I "need" a screen protector. But I'll probably buy one eventually. After the whole ZAGG proximity sensor problem I'm just waiting for a legit protector without any quirks. I'm know they are out there (In abundance) and my lazy butt just needs to "look."

Clear no-liquid screen protector recommendation

When I got my phone, I was going to get the $15 pack of Sprint screen protectors: the dry ones I've always used. Except... they were anti-glare and they don't have clear and I don't like the sparkles and reduced resolution of anti-glare or matte screen protectors. So the store talked me into the Zagg. I'm not a fan of the wet-apply screen protectors but thought I'd give it a shot for once. To each their own: some may love them, but I hate this Zagg screen protector and find it almost unusable! Orange peel out the wazoo (I can live with that since it doesn't reduce resolution) but the worst thing is that it's "sticky" like soft rubber. I can't even slide my finger (well) on this thing! Tried cleaning it and no amount of cleaning, washing hands, pressing lighter, etc. fixes it. Sliding my finger feels like I have dried sticky soda on my fingers.
So... being early in the game, has any one found a dry-apply clear screen protector they'd recommend, either from local stores (Best Buy, etc.) or online?
Edit: Maybe I should have posted this in accessories, but thought maybe someone had a solution to the sticky Zagg so I put it here.
Thanks,
Mike
Well i always used the cheapo SP, and i ordered four for $2 from Ebay the other day. Took like 2 days to get to my house. Only thing is, is that it dosen have the cut-out for the proximity sensor, but it functions just fine. Turns off when i make phone calls and everything. Some may not have luck with others that dont have the cutout, but this one works just fine. heres the link. If you want, i can send you one to try out. I have 3 left, and there no way ill use all these. WEnt on super easy and looks good. Lemme know. PM ME if u want. Be glad to mail ya one. Also, the one from Sprint SUCK. they dont even cover the whole phone. Just the screen itself. THey dont even go all the way doesn to the buttons. Unreal

I purchased from a luckeyminky on eBay. It is the type with two step application. First step exposes the sticky side. Smooth out the bubbles. Then remove step two layer. I reccomend cutting the top right cornner . It will get caught and eventually pull the protector off. Also if you get a piece of lint use one piece of scotch tape to life the screen protector another to grab the piece of dust. Did that last night with awesome results.

I hated the thickness and grainy appearance of the built-in anti-glare screen protector on the Defender, so I removed it and installed the Steinheil Ultra Crystal protector instead. World of difference in terms of clarity and sensitivity. Fingerprints are easily wiped away. Some dust does get under the edges of the polycarbonate top shell, but it gets trapped there on top of the screen protector and doesn't penetrate into the actual case.
I have the defender and had the zagg hd . I hate zagg , it feels rubbery and has orange peel and is too thick .. orange peel was ok, but if I get resistance when I'm trying to swipe my finger on the phone its irritating. If you try it with the protector and without you will feel worlds of difference. I have the defender , incipio ngp, and diztronic . I use defender for work in construction . And incipio on the weekends. I am waiting for the steinhiel ultra clear protectors in the mail . For the defender case , you will notice in certain angles it looks like there is water between the screen and the defender clear protector but if you put a thin screen protector on the phone and then put the defender on , it eliminates that problem .
I used to defend InvisibleShield (now the actual company is called Zagg) to the death a year or so back. I've had them literally on EVERY device I've owned. I've even recommended friends to it.
As someone that has done that I'm here to tell you that they are crap. Definitely remove the cover that comes with the case but do not get Zagg. Unless you can get a time machine and get a product from a year ago. They will get orangy and sometimes (they claim this is part of the manufacturing process) you might have horizontal 'lines' across the shield which requires a replacement. Also, they have gotten a LOT more rubbery. The original ones were still a bit rubbery but they felt sleek, the new ones are gross. I grabbed my old iPod nano and my LTE and I touch both protects, the new LTE one is disgusting.
I'm looking for a replacement and looking around the forums and other sites everyone recommends the SGP protectors. The following doesn't matter specifically to the shield but its something worth noting: Zagg's customer service has turned to crap, sure their lifetime warranty is awesome but trying to actually ask about something is horrid. I sent a quick email to SGP asking three simple questions and they replied with THREE FRIGGIN PARAGRAPHS HAND TYPED.
Sorry for the long post just wanted to give some input. Here's the email exchange in case you had the same questions I did:

Hello,
I have been an avid user of Zagg screenshields for years now but recently their quality has turned to crap. Horrible customer service, yellow tinting on their protectors and that awful rubber feeling. A lot of my friends and the forum I frequent recommended your screen protectors but I have a few queries.
1. I live in a VERY hot area (Arizona, USA) and I know that your product description says no residue but I would like to confirm if this applies no matter the temperature the screen is at. Please, please please be honest with this
2. My product is an Evo 4G LTE and I know that early on a lot of screenshield makers (including Zagg) did not provide a cut out for the proximity sensor, I'm curious to know whether you have updated your design to have the phone work 100%
3. Which protector should I chose for the best scratch-proofness (oleophobic, crystal or fine)?
Sorry for taking up your time and I look forward to your reply. With Zagg I'm giving up scratch proofness and lifetime warranty. However that is nothing compared to the horrible support and quality of their products. Spigen will have my support for years to come if I get good answers
Thank you,
Jon

Dear Jonathan,
Thank you for contacting Spigen.com Customer Service Department.
Hi, my name is Diana from Spigen on Amazon.
It is no problem at all! Thank you for your interest in our products. I'd be more than happy to assist you with your questions!
Our screen protectors are not affected by the temperature and should not produce a yellowish tint. Our high quality screen protectors are manufactured with a hard coat so that it has a scratch resistance coat. This, however, does not mean that the screen protector is completely scratch proof, but it will not scratch as easily as most other screen protectors. I have been using the Ultra Crystal on my device for over 5 months and have not received a single scratch, despite the many falls my device has endured. Over time, the screen protectors will need to be replaced at one point, but should last on your device for many months without problems or tinting from the sun. If you do have an issue with our product, simply contact us at Amazon support and I would be glad to assist you.
As for the screen protectors. We have the Ultra Crystal, Ultra Oleophobic, and the Ultra Fine (Matte). The Ultra Crystal is a transparent screen protector, and our most popular, as it provides ultimate clarity and protection. The Ultra Oleophobic is almost the same product as the Ultra Crystal but it has an Oleophobic coating on top which provides oil resistance so that fingerprints can be wiped away easily. However, over time, the coating on the Oleophobic screen protector may wear off and would need to be replaced. The Ultra Fine is our matte screen protector. It is anti-fingerprint and will receive the least amount of scratches. However, because it is a matted screen protector, the resolution of your screen may be reduced. Of the three options, I do recommend the Ultra Crystal as it is my personal favorite.
We have also updated the screen protectors to have the cut out for the proximity sensors. We have shipped these updated products to Amazon for their inventory. However, if for whatever reason, you receive the older screen protector without the cut out, simply contact us and we will ship you the updated screen protector right away.
If you have any additional questions, please do not hesitate to contact us again.
Thank you.

just keep the defender on, and if it really starts to bug you then take the time to cut out or peel off the screen cover
Took out the awful defender screen protector and put the zagg one on there.
Much better

I don't think there are any at all for our phone. Spigen doesn't have any plans to make one either.
This is just one helluva coincidence; I was looking for this yesterday! I was put off by a scathing review of Zagg's HD protector that stated it scratched easily, which somehow made me aware of Spigen's glass iPhone 5 protector and their lack of one for the ELTE.

Just get the sgp crystal clear.. Good as glass.
Why would you want a glass protector to protect glass? Wouldn't that be like having a vest made out of another persons skin and using it like a bullet proof vest?

Haha… funny point, but if I wanted to have the look and feel of a human with the ability to replace damaged skin, this would be the way to go (even if it basically turns me into Buffalo Bill). As for the “bullet proof vest” part, I don’t think that the Zagg shield would be any better than a glass sheet at protecting the screen itself against a direct impact; their main purpose is for scratch protection.

A screen protector isn't meant to prevent breakage. It's merely there to protect the screen from scratches and gouges from every day use. Really, even a crappy screen protector would still come between the elements and the screen itself, so it would serve this purpose plenty well.
If there was an unbreakable screen protector with impeccable light transmittance then I'd wonder why our screens aren't made out of that instead.
Not a solution to your glass screen protector, but just so you know that at least a few of the regular style aren't bad at all!!
I can personally attest for the Zagg HD and the Otterbox screen protectors. My parents and I have all had the Zagg HD screen protector on our Evo LTEs since launch day, and none of them have a single mark on them! I have since purchased a white Evo LTE (since they weren't an option during pre-orders) and have the Otterbox installed on it. I like the way it looks and feels MUCH better than the Zagg HD!!! I would actually replace the Zagg HD with an Otterbox on my black Evo LTE if I wasn't planning to sell it. The Otterbox isn't even visible unless you are really looking for a screen protector! It feels just like the bare screen, better than any screen protector I've ever used in the past(which is quite a lot as I've been using touch screen smartphones for almost 6 years now and update phones at least once a year). Either choice is pretty scratch resistant! I assume the Otterbox would be the easier of the two to scratch, as you'd have to be trying really hard to leave a permanent scratch on the Zagg as it "heals" itself from any marks within a couple days. That said, I still think the Otterbox is a better choice as I baby my devices anyway, and the looks/feels outweigh the scratch resistance of the Zagg. Just throwing in my 2 cents...

I've been using the Zagg HD since it came out and I love it. Yes when the screen is off and I hold it at certain angles I can see minute scratches but I can't feel them or see them when the screen is on. The other thing I like about it is it does feel really close to what the screen actually feels like. The normal Zagg does not.
