[Q] Where did infusion go? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Cant find the rom thread anymore...
Pls dont say its gone again...

Has it gone walkabout again?! Sheesh..
nitrozk posted last night on the theme section, said his black theme wasgoing to ported to Revolution and "Project Honeycomb" was finished. Relevant? Anyone's guess...
Noticed that Bautista's ROM also has disappeared.

Could please someone clear this up??

2 members. WTF is going on?!

Guys - can you either PM the dev or a mod about this. We've had plenty of threads about stuff going missing recently and unless you're the dev then it's none of your business. Please, keep it out of the forums.

Yes.
DO NOT POST ABOUT THIS - IT'S NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS.
PM the developer if you really feel the need.

nitrozk - the dev - cleared the matter up on another thread.
Hope that helps.

Thank you for your education, B3311!
What Recognized Developer johncmolyneux could look up at you before giving his answers. I am a member of the forum, I am not a developer and I think I have the right to receive an explanation of the disappearance of a topic that I followed.
But if Paul is upset with the situation, who swallow their anger and be more polite to those who do not find clear information about what happens on the board.
If the contents of the forum is not my business, I do not care if I get banned.
But again, thanks B3311!

I may have been short with you, but any regular on this forum will already know that there have been lots of "where has xxxx ROM gone?" threads recently, and the mods themselves have told members that it's not their concern and they should not be creating threads about it.
I'm just sick of seeing the same old rubbish, despite mod requests that it stop. I apologise for being short with you, but I expect users of the forum to follow forum rules.
No offense was meant.

Ok. Thanks too. I'll try another ROM.
But I think the users who follow the threads are deleted deserve some explanations.
Sorry for the inconvenience.

Fair comments John.
As I discovered - the hard way - a polite question will always get one further than a rant, whine or trolling.
I also try to follow the caveat that any dev or themer can do whatever they like with their work - they owe us nothing.

Press thanks then, haven't had one for a while - I'm insecure and paranoid...
OT and serious - I see your point, but as you can probably infer from my post above, I disagree when you say we "have the right to receive an explanation".
We don't, in my opinion. An explanation is good, and furthers goodwill, but it's not something the "average user" here can demand.
The most popular themes and ROMs here are popular for a reason - updates, information, no trolling etc. The devs/themers that don't do the above - as is their right - will find less interest in their work. Whether they care or not is entirely up to them.

Ok I agree with you.
But I still think that if you are a regular user (like me) and subscribe to a thread, and suddenly, that topic desappears, you will want some explanation. I searched and only found this thread (which was not created by me).
But anyway, thank you! I've found another ROM and I'll test it.

☞ ☆.☆.☆ OPERATION:IRON FIST, XDA & You!

As was announced last week, Operation:Iron Fist is in full effect. Read about it here.
With that being said, the following will begin to happen:
1. All non-development threads started in the Development section will be moved to the appropriate section and/or closed and the "responsible" poster (in quotes because the fact they posted in the wrong section clearly brings into question whether or not they are responsible) will be infracted.
2. Any abusive posts directed at any user will be deleted and the abuser will be infracted and/or given a temporary vacation. Multiple instances will result in a longer leave-of-absence, and if it continues you will be removed from XDA. You, and your behavior, are not welcome at XDA.
3. Any off-topic posts in the Development section threads will be deleted. These are non-helpful, and certainly not development posts. This includes the following:
"OMG THIS IS SO GREAT!"
"WOW! YOU ROCK AND I WANT TO HAVE YOUR BABIES!"
"THIS IS THE BEST THING EVER!"
"THANKS FOR THIS!"
If you want to thank someone for their work, do so by clicking the "THANKS" button on their post.
4. Any post, in any section, that is done to further post count will be deleted and you will face possible infraction.
5. Anything else that goes against the XDA Forum Rules and XDA Mantra will be dealt with firmly, but fairly.

This is a perfect example of a post that would get you an infraction in any thread. XDA will not tolerate this behavior. Now knowing that this user that has been with XDA for 3 years is only seeking to provide an example of what NOT to do, it may be duly noted that this would earn a nice 5 point infraction or even a nice vacation from XDA.

This thread isn't a Development thread, it should be moved to General.
Nah, seriously now - this was needed a long time ago! Hopefully it's kept to.
This is not a complaint, but asking for clarification. i would like to ask a few questions..I read your iron fist policy and this post is not in any violation.
I read the comments on roms to see if I would like to download a rom. And if I see a positive comment then I might consider downloading it. If i get the policy of iron fist correctly, a post such as
Thanks, smooth and fast. Keep up good work.
The above little post is grounds for disiplinary actions? It tells me somebody else thought it was favored, smooth and quick. A thank you does not tell tell us the reader, how in the heck a rom operates. I will then go into a thread, and see only stuff that does not work, since any positive feedback does not represent development issues but bug posting represents development issues. How in the heck do we then tell the developer our views without getting in trouble. I understand the main issue of cracking down on trolls and flames, but in all honesty, iron fist should be called iron wall becuase we now have censorship on on a so called open forum. If i where to say to xyz developer anything positive to give him kudos and some words of encouragement which is just as valuable as anything else, we are not allowed. Since being positive and giving support to a developer does not matter in a personal and friendly way, when only a thank you button. These developers need positive feedback also..

This is not an open forum. Trying to keep the development threads clear of pointless posts is not censorship. Post in general if you want to post "OMG.....I want to marry you". The devs themselves are the ones who want the development threads kept cleaned up. They don't want to sift through 10 pages of posts telling them what a god they are to find the 1 post post that tells them that "X" doesnt seem to work when doing "Y". Most of the ASUS devs are on Freenode IRC (#asus-transformer) everyday. Jump on and tell them in person as long as they aren't actually helping someone. Most say "Thanks" and tell you to hit the "Thanks" on their thread. They don't say "Please post another 'I wanna have your baby' post in my thread"
When a thread reaches 1000 posts and 900 of them are "Thanks to you I can solve world hunger now", no dev is gonna wanna waste his time trying to find the bugs people find. The devs time is better used deving and not digging.
This is xdadevelopers not xdacustomerservice or xdaiwannahaveyourbaby. The developers run the show and make our devices so much more fun to use. So let them dev
Both sides have a valid point. There must be a way to satisfy both needs. Perhaps the design of the "general forum" needs to be updated to adapt to the changing needs of the online community. Remember, both sides have the same goal.

Brush up on the XDA Mantra and understand what XDA is about.
In the Development threads, post only what is relevant to development - and "HEY! I flashed XYZ and it works great! You're the best!" is NOT relevant for discussion. End of story.
Hitting THANKS "should" be an indicator to someone that the development project in question is like. But, even so - this isn't really for the users. The developers post their work to share, but do so for themselves not you. Anything you do is at your own risk.

XDA is about developers (READ: XDA-DEVELOPERS) not users. We exist to facilitate development - not support. So the rules in place are for Development.
Read the XDA Mantra and this post above

Thank you for this. Will this also apply to people who ask the same questions that have already been answered in the thread?
Possibly the most annoying thing is perusing through pages of threads to see the same question asked and repeatedly answered. The one that comes to mind currently is the screen dim on the options window and the circle pointer. It seems like those questions get asked and answered on nearly every page of the Prime 1.7 thread.

This does apply - though it is harder to enforce meaning the community needs to assist the moderators in addressing these issues. You can report these posts and we can address them as they come in. We are also working on fixing our RP system.

Making it easier to report posts, you mean? That would definitely be a good improvement; I went to report a post using abusive language a few days back, and ended up not doing because I didn't have time at that moment to jump through hoops with finding out who to contact, then typing a message to them. I doubt I'm alone in skipping doing so.
If reporting a post was as easy as leaving thanks, I bet a lot more folks would be helping the mods. In fact, a two-click system might be nice. Slightly more complicated than the thanks button, but it would also help the mods prioritize which reports to check. The site visitor could click report, then click the type of issue they're reporting (abusive language, off-topic, post in wrong section, requesting warez, whatever). Then the mod's queue of posts to check sorts the most severe infractions (asking for warez, foul language, etc.) above lesser ones (off-topic, posting in wrong section, etc.)
Something else that might be helpful to mods would be for the system to automatically track how many reports any given member has made, and what percentage have been incorrectly reported. Members with a lot of false positives could sort to the bottom of the mod's queue, and members who reliably report bad posts could filter to the top for prompt action... Something like that might also be helpful when XDA was looking for new mods to help with the site -- the folks who did the most positive reporting might prove to be good candidates for new moderators.
It may be a stupid idea - but could you give thread creators moderation privileges in their own threads, even if it is only in development?

Not something that can happen. Recognized Developers can open/close their own threads - but moderation pieces of deleting posts, etc. just can't happen. But thanks for the thought and idea.
How about the developer create a thread in Development section and called it "ABC - Bug Report" and another thread in General called "ABC - Discussion".

The way to handle this, and what I am working on implementing but takes awhile, is to have the Developer post a thread in Q&A for that dev work and then all bugs, etc. are in the actual development thread.

[Guide/Info] What you need to include to get help

I have noticed that people in the q and a section are not posting nearly enough information in their post or title to get the information they need. This causes people to ask lots of questions and delay getting the answer they need. So this guide will show you what you need to include in your post to get the most efficient answer to your question.
We'll start with the Title:
- Please do not just say "HALP, PHONE BROKE" or "HELP" , etc.
- You need to be precise, and describe what you're looking for in your thread.
Next, the information you need to state before you even get into asking your question.
- The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device. I9100 G/M/P/T
- Are you rooted/unrooted?
- What rom you are using? And which version? -and- What kernel are you using? And which version?
- Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes?
- Have you changed DPI? If yes, to what?
- Have you done anything to try to solve your issue? This would be very valuable information.
- Please (if on stock firmware) dial *#1234# and post the results (thanks to fxrb)
Then you can ask your question.
- Do not ask "What rom/kernel/theme is the best?" -or- Something that you have not searched for (it is infact very obvious if you havent)
- Be specific and precise in what you want/need. Do not write a 10, 000 word essay, or a 3 word question.
- Pictures say a 1000 words
Important things to remember:
- Be polite: People never want to help someone who wont appreciate it, or is rude to them. Remember your p's and q's
- Do not bump your thread: It gets annoying and against the rules
This is under construction and will take a bit to include all of the information needed. I know there are lots of more experienced users than I, and would love feedback of what to include. Please do not hesitate to post in the thread or even PM me with information you think needs to be included in this thread.
Stickies
- DO NOT POST A "What's the best ROM/Kernel/Theme?" THREAD!
- [Newbies][Experienced Users][RCs] New members friendly Q&A thread
- [KERNEL][REF][Q&A] Siyah 5.0+[ICS/CM10] 6.0b5+[JB/CM10.1] +DISCUSSION+. NON-DEV!!!
- Australian AU Galaxy S II (help/rooting/updates,etc)
- SGS2 Canadian Thread (Bell/Virgin/Sasktel/Rogers) Root/Unlock/Firmware/Modems/Mods
- New here? READ THIS THREAD FIRST. What Is Recovery & Download Mode?
- Frequently Asked Questions

The thought is nice... but unless this is stickied (and even then), this thread will fall off the first page, and since the vast majority of n00bs (not new members, but "n00bs" - there's a huge difference) won't search, they won't see it.
Heck, there have been dozens of posts since you posted this that have been terribly short of any information.
But I applaud the thought.
You have to think how them noobs operate. They muck up their phone, stick the symptoms in a google search, and want an answer asap.
So they are not going to spend hours reading rules and stickies or use the search function.
I spent a week reading about stuff for the x10i I had before I decided to do anything to it.That way at least I had half an idea what helpers were talking about when/if I got into trouble.
When I joined this forum the s2 looked a lot more complicated and the forum looked a lot more "vicious"(like give that guy 20xlashes since he didnt do a search).

just wanted to share that I've got a nicely setup dualboot with the siyah kernel, RootBox JB 2.1 as my second rom successfully patched with the autopatcher 1.6 and a fully working pdroid. That's it...
Since i have less than 10 posts I cannot thank the developers in their respective threads (at least that's how i get the message). Yeah, but don't just get 10 posts just to say "thank you" in the rom Dev section. I van personally say that devs hate this as it clogs up the thread and doesn't add anything to anything. That is why xda has the thanks button, and the devs appreciate that more than saying it. In fact, it you really want to say thank you donate to them. Even if its 1 euro they will be very grateful.

course not it was kind of a semi-sarcastic post, I have more to say than thanks I spent countless hours reading and learning stuff (in general, it is fun after all!) and as far as this forum is concerned (which is really helpful btw!) it's difficult to then act (for the time being!). Example: Somehow I managed to post in a developer's thread 1-2 months ago, first a problem then I found the solution and posted it myself. I then got PMed by someone asking me for help. Only problem is I never got an email notification in spite of having a thread subscription so I didn't bother to check my PMs. As for donating, absolutely.

OK awesome. I'm used to people who just want to say thanks, so I have to mention something like that. But taking a look at your sign up date, of looks like you might be able to post in the Dev section without having 10 posts. I believe if you signed up before a certain date you don't need the posts. And of looks like you might fit in there. I would try it you never know

Sadly I agree to everybody believing that this thread will not be read by those who should do so, sorry. However, if by accident just one out of thousand will read it then there will be 'only' 999 bad questions remaining - a small progress.
For this one out of thousand I would like to contribute something to the information section of this thread. For basic information I often ask people to dial *#1234# and post the result. As this thread is in the Galaxy SII forum this should work, at least as long as people are on stock firmware (probably use this conditionally ?).

As this thread is in the Galaxy SII forum this should work, at least as long as people are on stock firmware (probably use this conditionally ?).

Yeah, hopefully at least a few new users see this and actually follow it.
And for the code, what information, action will it show? Thank you for posting with more information to add, I truly appreciate it

There's already a whole board for tutorials, and you thank members when you read their threads. Seriously, stop trying.
I don't know if others are too gullable to notice, but it is pretty obvious you are doing all of this just to get thanks, your post always ends up with begging for a thanks, and you even have it on your profile signature.

I think everyone except a few members have 'please press thanks' on their sig. Even I don't like this too. No offence, but let him try if he's trying. Almost everyone here wants some thanks and some respect. Of course, you register on a forum, you want to show yourself to the people. You wanna get some respect. You want to be known. What's the harm in that? Nobody wants to chicken out and sit alone by himself in a corner. The thing is, many new users create threads for the wrong reasons and spam forums due to this. But he isn't doing that. Why do you want him to stop trying? Every thread that has been created by mrappbrain has a post like this from you. Why, you wanna scare him off out of XDA? This way, I'm sure no new user's ever gonna try to contribute to the forum.
I'm asking you, no, I'm telling you, I'm gonna report this to techno if i see a post like this from you again (unless the thread's OP is spamming).
Maybe this thread shouldn't have been created, maybe i'm wrong; techno's the judge. But i know one thing - lashing out on new members like that unless they're spamming is NOT right.

Ok I am going to create a thread in GT-S5360 Android Development board saying "This thread is meant for people to post their ROMs here, please thank me."
This is what I'm talking about. Create threads for things that don't fit in the existing boards but when there are boards already for them, there is no need for such threads.
The only reason why I'm hating on him is because he tried to make us look like fools by fooling us that he can actually fix games, when all he does is google apks of them.

Alright, I get your point. Sorry if i was harsh on you, alright? Maybe I was wrong. I have the guts to say that. But my main point was that just don't post on his thread if you don't like it. Report it to techno. Because maybe lashing out may scare 'em away, and not come to XDA again.
No hard feelings, right?
This thread was meant for tutorials guys!!!not for arguing!!!i dont want this to be closed too!!btw, anasdcool, thanks for defending my case.

[Guide/Info]Must do info guide for Beginners

New On XDA or New With Your S3, Here are few Things You Need To Remember Before Posting in the 'General Q&A section' about your Issues.
Here You See And Learn Many More Things When Your Are New On Xda
A Very Nice Detailed Info By Saywhatt
[HOW TO] make a substantial THREAD, POST, QUESTION and POLL
[GUIDE] HOW TO POST: Understanding the UI in posting
[HOW TO] make a substantial THREAD, POST, QUESTION and POLL
Huge Thanks To Saywhatt For Sharing Knowledge
So Here We Go ,
Well we always do notice that people in the 'General Q&A section' are not putting nearly enough information in their Post and Title to get proper solution to ther issues.
Reasons:
[*] A bad Title like ' plz help', ' urgent', 'phone dead' etc.
[*] No relavent info about the phone Model/ ROM/KERNEL/MODEM etc in there post.
Since insufficient info causes hindrence for members who are willing to help and leads to ask lots of questions from them and the very same(lack of info) will delay getting the solution for you.
So this Guide will show you what you need to include in your post to get the most efficient answer to your question.
We'll start with the Title:
- Just Writing Help , Bricked , Guys Help Me out Wont Be Enough For People Having knowledge Of You’re your Issue To Help You Out.
Provide A Better Title Like
“ I Soft Bricked My Phone “
“ Having Kernel Issues”
- You need to be precise, and describe what you're looking for in your thread.
Next, the Information you need to state before you even get into asking your question.
Dont Start Off Or Just Dont Write 'I Flashed This Rom/Kernel And Cannot Boot Up or Stuck At Logo / Boot Loop plz help' and sit and wait for solution's to pour in for you.
Rather try to provide more basic info like:
- The make of your phone. There are many different variants of your device Samsung Galaxy S3 I9300 /G/M/P/T
- What Rom/Kernel/Modem you are using?
- Are you rooted/unrooted?
- Have you flashed any mods/scripts/themes?
- Have you changed DPI? If yes, to what?
- Have you done anything to try to solve your issue prior to posting the same?
since these would be very valuable information,
which do aid a member who is ready to help with your issue for sure.
Additionally, visual aids like 'Screeen shot' or a small 'Video clip' will help a lot in resolving issue's in a better way for sure.
For people who are with Stock Rom's:
Please dial *#1234# and post the results (thanks to fxrb) if your not sure about the Rom/Kernel/Modem info.
And also adding the relavent info of ROM/Kernel/Modem to ur signature will save time in providing the same.
After You Completed The Above Steps Its Time When you can ask your question.
And do Remember:
- Do not ask "What rom/kernel/theme is the best?" -or- Something that you have not searched for (it is infact very obvious if you havent), since its against XDA rule
- Be specific and precise in what you want/need. Do not write a 10,000 word essay, or a 3 word question.
And Always Remember On Xda The Most Important Rules :
- Be polite: People never want to help someone who wont appreciate it, or is rude to them. Remember your p's and q's
- Do not bump your thread: It gets annoying and against the rules
This is just a begining and will take a bit to include all of the information needed.
I know there are lots of more experienced users than I, and would love feedback of what to include.
Please do not hesitate to post in the thread or even PM me with your valuable inputs you think needs to be included in this thread.
Reserved
and another one if needed
and one more
well its a pretty decent effort from ur end for sure Buddy
now its the people (new Comers) who has to utilize the same in an efficient way
and if its made 'Sticky' by the Mod's, will be more helpfull

A useful guide for noobs but unfortunately as is always the case on XDA it will probably get lost in translation and as usual you'll have people on asking the same usual questions, the only solution as ive said all along is when people register on XDA as part of the sign up process they must tick a disclaimer that they need to use the search function and if they don't and ask noobish questions they get a temporary ban for a week and if after that they persist a full ban, it might sound extreme but as far as i can see this really is the only solution to stop noobs from posting the same questions day in, day out, year in, year out, it seriously has to be implemented, many good people have left XDA from when i first came on here because of noobs and to be honest you can hardly blame them, pretty much every answer noobs want is highly likely to already be on XDA somewhere and can be found via the search function.

Bumping means, to move a thread to the top of the forum, with a pointless reply (usually to one's own thread, to promote something or to get an answer to an unanswered question)

Why did my JPay JP5S thread get deleted?

Hello.
I had started a thread a while back about "Installing Google Play Services on JPay JP5S tablet" - in the Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting forum.
Now, all of a sudden, it appears to have been deleted without explanation. Can someone tell me why? Did the thread violate some XDA forum rule? If so, what rule?
I'd appreciate any assistance with this inquiry. I'm new to this forum, but I don't want to repeat any mistakes if I made any.

Hello new fellow ! Welcome to XDA.
First of all, have a look at the rules, it's short and you'll find why your post vanished.
https://forum.xda-developers.com/announcement.php?a=81
Second of all, most newbies here misplaces post, so:
Questions post belongs to Q'n'A section only.
Also, XDA is a very big forum! So always prefer reading over asking, because if you had an issue someone surely had it before. And reposting the same question make the site more and more slower.
A big mistake newbies make is asking before even searching on Google, XDA isn't the only place in the web to find answers, so please, search deeply before posting.
XDA was once accused (a little less now) of "n00b bashing" because more experimented users had harsh responses to questions they saw everytime. If you read thoroughly before posting, this won't happen.
Also, be respectful, etc...
Everytime someone helps you with a post, please hit the "thank" button. It's the way you say thank you instead of saying thank you on a post (that saturate XDA for nothing).
Finally, when you report a bug, please make a logcat and attach it to your post. That's the most common mistakes that even senior members make sometimes.
Also check out the "XDA New user Guide" (1) and a How to logcat thread (2)
1)https://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1699450

Thanks for asking that, very few new ones takes time thinking how they can better act here on XDA, showing you will to do better proves that every person with a little bit of common sense know that internet has rules also, and that a forum doesn't organize itself alone.
Thank again
Have a good day

Thanks, but your reply still does not shed any light on why my thread was deleted.
I may be a noob to this forum, but I am not a noob to forums in general. I had already read the forum rules, and I believed then (and still believe now) that my thread had complied with the rules.
In particular, I had conducted a search prior to posting, but there were (and still are) no threads on the topic. A current search of "JPay JP5S" reveals five hits: two threads (one of which is my old thread) which are deleted, two threads which I do not yet have permission to access (but which deal with different topics anyways), and this thread here. Thus, my thread was not redundant of a previously asked and answered question.
Is the JPay JP5S a taboo or forbidden topic to discuss? If so, an indication to that effect would be nice. If not, I would still like to know why my thread was deleted. Again, I obviously don't want to repeat whatever mistake I might have made with the last one, if I made any.

That's weird indeed...
There aren't any taboos in XDA regarding this device... You could also try to PM moderators to know what's the issue with your thread, but include this time what you said in it, so you can have explanations. I can't tell you since the thread isn't in front of me. Here is the list of mods in XDA:
https://docs.google.com/document/d/1lK5rP103OL3StU3q9iqwX9LU_k8XABeSQIAT3EHCqgM/pub
They're all nice
Pick one in the "all other forums" section of the document and try to contact him about that.
PM Sent. Discussion on our end regarding our PM conversation. Hold tight :good:

It has been handled. As the RC already mentioned, please do not hesitate using the "Report Button", when you believe that a violation of the forum rules has occurred. Like this we can take care of situations like this way faster.
Thx for your understanding.

Not to revive this dead thread, but if it's okay to discuss the JP5, then why did *every* thread about it disappear? I get that there were a bunch of people trying to sell services, but why not just delete their posts? There was a 50-some page thread that contained invaluable info that simply doesn't seem to exist anywhere now, and even Google Cache and Wayback Machine are basically useless. It sure *looks* like the JPay people "got to" XDA or something.
If anyone can at least provide a link to the needed files to "unlock" these things, that'd be awesome. Or better yet, can we start a new thread without it going poof? (Or best yet, could that old one ever be restored?)
I am also looking for the files to unlock my jp5 tablet. I also have a jp6 tablet I'd like to unlock. Any help would be great. $ is not an issue
Anyluck?
