[Q] How to use bootloader in Odin? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have downloaded my Rom from samfirmware, I checked the file and as usual there are PDA,Modem,CSC files in addition to that there is a bootloader file which Im not sure how to use it in odin 1.85, shall I put it in bootloader section? and if so shall I activate the "phone bootloader update" on left side of odin?
thanks

Unless you own an I/O edition of tab, I don't recommend bootloader file. As the bootloader file besides locking the bootloader (if repartition selected in odin) replaces fastboot with recovery in boot screen (keys combo). Hence be careful in flashing bootloader!
Place bootloader in bootloader, tick auto-reboot and Reset time only, and flash. The samfirmware roms for p7510 have been uploaded in development section by me to motivate discussions related to issues. If flashing a touchwiz rom, I recommend the arabic rom from development section. Its taken from samfirmware, but as their edition had issues I repacked it hence error free. The touchwiz in this rom is more polished release version!

Thanks for your help , already done after your instructions and successful
I have 3g version of the tablet and used the 4 files
PDA
CSC
Modem
bootloader
repartition and phone bootloader update not activated
and had a successful flashing
by the way the JPKG6 seems to have less problems as I dont see any auto rotation lags and more smooth scrolling in this rom

[Q] Modified bootloader in 2.3.4

Does this mean that after flashing the stock 2.3.4 update we can no langer flash roms with Odin, an can this be undone with an older bootloader as on Intratech`s thread?
If you mean new sbl.bin (secondary bootloader) you may use the old one. It doesnt affect flashing via Odin. It affects the possibility of using Jig only. (thnx to Odia).
The bootloader has already been defeated. You can flash the tarball with the old bootloader using Odin by putting it in the bootloader or PDA section of Odin if you've already flashed the new one. The firmware packages that are in the firmware thread have the bootloader stripped out already. The updated bootloader won't affect any normal operation, only modification I can identify with a quick look and Odia has confirmed is that they have changed the routine to reset the unsigned binary counter so you can't just reset it using a Jig.

Bootloader vs Recovery tar

So I'm confused. I am in the process of flashing CM 10.1 to my Tab, but rading instructions I see that I have likely the Honeycomb bootloaders on my tablet. I used Odin to flash my new recovery and that went well, but now I'm confused by the Bootloader. It is a zip file and it won't flash thru Odin. When I did the recovery.tar did that flash the bootloader for me? do I need to flash anything else.
If you have access to official ICS 4.0.4 firmware you can update to it through Odin which if successful automatically gives you the right bootloader, provided you flashed the firmware for the designated regions in the CM 10.1 OP. However, since you already have the bootloader, extract the zip file and flash the bootloader contained therein via odin. So choose the option you prefer.

Flash zip in download mode

Hey
Yesterday I flashed a boot logo on my SM-G928F in TWRP. After that my phone doesn't boot into system or recovery anymore - there's always a blackscreen. I only can boot into download mode.
I tried to flash a stock-rom via Odin but that didn't helped - the same blackscreen, because a stock rom does not replace the boot logo.
I think I have to flash the stock boot logo ( https://drive.google.com/file/d/1378RQ5w_vAAmnQ3HB0FymZXWIm12T0Mg/view ) , but thats a zip which I can't flash via Odin.
There a two ways in my mind which could work:
1. Getting a tar.md5 file with the stock boot logo.
2. Getting a tool which allows to flash zips in download mode of the phone.
I really hope that someone could help me with my big problem.
Best regards
DGB
Hey there
I recommend to flash the firmware again but this time after flashing firmware flash the twrp and flash the zip via adb sideload ( a feature present in TWRP) as by adb sideload one is able to flash zip files as well
Or i recommend you to get to know the combination of keys that will help you to directly enter into recovery
Hope it will work
And if there is any problem let me know
As in the internet there are various ways by which a person can flash the custom rom and custom recovery via odin
Look at this link:-

Thank you for your answer but that didn't worked. The problem is that flashing the stock firmware doesn't replace or repair the boot image. So I've got a never ending blackscreen when I want to boot in system or TWRP/Recovery and that means that I'm not able to configure ADB Sideload.
I can only boot into download mode, nothing else.
I think the jpg of the boot logo I've installed was corrupted so it can't be loaded
You are in download mode so you have to press all the keys including the home button and once the download mode closes then press the "volume up key and power key and also the home button and then your phone will automatically reboot into recovery.
I know, I tried that multiple times but it doesn't work. Blackscreen... only a never ending blackscreen. The download mode is the only thing taht works. I have to flahs the old boot logo via download mode... but i don't know how
Wait for the battery to be drained out completely and then do what i said earlier

I did. but it didn't work, too
I really need someone who is able to integrate the stock boot logo into a custom rom which can be flashed via Odin... Or I need a tool which allows to install zips in download mode. I tried adb sideload again but it didn't recognizes my phone when its not in recovery.
I really think that my S6 edge + is nearly died :crying:

Not even flashing a factory firmware (4 files with pit) with repartition option selected?
What about a combination firmware and then a full stock FW?

I only tried to flash stock firmware with AP in Odin... and I tried stock rom with re-partition.
Where do I get those 4 files? I need XEU for my SM-G928F. It would be very nice if you could give me a more detailed instruction for this because I never worked with PIT...
get samfirm v0.3.6
On the model you put sm-g928f, region XEU, tick the binary nature box and press "check update". Download the resulting file, that is a factory firmware to do repairs in a 4 files format: bootloader, pda or ap, modem or cp and csc!
You will get this file:
SM-G928F_1_20180305151001_nsg8uwd0sh_fac.zip
Put each file in the correct field in odin!
About combination firmware, it needs to be same binary version as stock firmware already programed on phone! if first number on firmware version is a 3, combination FW need to be also bin 3!
G928FXXS4CRB4 if is 4, you need comb fw also in bin 4! if you downgrade you get odin error and a softbrick!
Was checking if any comb. fw is available, but i find only paid files for your phone model!

It worked means you got your phone back to normal or you could get the firmware using samfirm?
Pit file is always inside csc file on a 4 files fac firmware. Use the pit on firmware because the pit from your link can be from a early version of android and have different bits for partition sizes!
EDIT: Here, got the combination fw for the binary 4. IF your phone is already ok, don't use this!

Re-Root S6 Wifi problem

Hi,
i managed to root the device using the S5E procedure
https://forum.xda-developers.com/tab-s5e/how-to/galaxy-tab-s5e-sm-t720-root-t3947806).
Everything worked fine.
Then i debloated using pm some apps (same list i used before on my S5e).
Unfortunately the S6 did not boot anymore. (bootloop)
So went to download mode, and reflashed the stock rom.
My BL still was unlocked (message on boot), but i had no "OEM Unlocking" option in Dev settings.
So i locked the BL again. Reflashed stock, unlocked BL, took my modified AP file i created on root before and flashed. But Odin "Failed". Don't remember exactly, but think was failed writing, as if the BL was locked.
No idea why. Do i have to recreate the modified AP file every time, even when staying on same version)
Now i'm back to stock, BL locked, "OEM Unlocking" disabled. I would say Factory new.
Should i proceed again to the S5e root method, or did i miss something?
Thanks
did you manage to find a solution ?
I followed these instructions to root my s6 wifi
https://topjohnwu.github.io/Magisk/install.html#samsung-system-as-root
Only issue I have now is occasionally rebooting I would lose root and need to reflash the modified AP made with Magisk via Odin again. Not sure why.

I'm not familiar with that method, but from reading the instructions it looks like Magisk is installed in recovery? You need to select to boot with Root each time, by booting into recovery first then selecting (I'm paraphrasing) "boot with root" or you'll just boot to stock.
I'm not sure why you've chosen to go down that route, but there's a much better solution for the S6 - Which is to install TWRP and a custom Kernel. It'll nullify any need of booting into recovery or creating any custom AP files.

It boots into system just like how flashing via TWRP would. Lost root twice which I just reflash the AP in Odin again. Might be because I was playing with systemlesshost option in magisk app & adding secondary user profile in Android.
Patching the AP file with Magisk app, then flashing via Odin is basically the same task TWRP does via zip. (Modifies vbmeta.img, boot.img, and recovery.img) The instruction is for rooting without custom recovery.
I didn't use TWRP method because currently it does not support encryption with the newer SK1/SL3 CSC builds. Moving forward the maintainer for Tab S6 TWRP don't plan on fixing until Android-10 and isn't even sure it can be fixed.

3. Phone will reboot to TWRP and check for encryption and remove if needed which will wipe phone. If phone is not encrypted data will not be wiped. Phone will reboot back too TWRP to finish install then reboot to setup if data was wiped or reboot normally if it was not.
4. Alternatively to using USERDATA_AIO_G98*_NO_WIPE_NO_BL.tar.md5 in odin you can use AIO_Magisk_22_S20_Series.zip found in post 2

The ones without bootloaders will work. The NO_BL ones. Probably have to use the force wipe one
So, if I have the S20+ (US Cellular) and want to try the 3.1 firmware:
1.) Download the firmware
2.) Put your file for it into user data field in Odin
3.) Put in AP, CSC (home or whatever to not overwrite my USC one I think) and the rest EXCEPT for the bootloader into Odin
4.) Flash as usual and then everything should work. I'll keep my unlock and be able to use the 3.1 firmware?

I did it that way, used the BL included file and flashed all the stock files, after the full wipe everything that I needed was included. Worked great, on UI 3.1 rn
It worked for me also, thanks for making this.
